Union Street Bistro / Bistro Catering and Events

You know you have a great caterer when you stop in the restaurant to make your final payment and there's a line of people outside waiting for a table. The food was great. Union Street Bistro has a huge catering menu which made providing a well-rounded and unique selection for our guests possible. Tammy was our contact person, and she was great to work with. She was knowledgeable and flexible. Both she and the chef spoke with us during our tasting, and she gave us plenty of tips to put together our cocktail hour and reception menus. We also used Union Street Bistro's bartending services for our wedding. Guests all enjoyed the bartender, and all we had to do was provide the alcohol (you can also purchase alcohol from USB). The only slightly negative thing that our guests told us was that an hour before the end of reception, servers came around and picked up all of the glasses that weren't being held by guests, so they had to go back to the bar and get new drinks in plastic cups. Luckily, the bartender was speedy, but it sounds like a fair amount of wine was poured out. I saw a cute coaster idea on Pinterest that could easily help with this. Overall, fantastic food.

Please do not use this company for your wedding. They started off giving a great presentation with good food but when the day arrived they served my guests cold food. My aunt had to serve my bridal party because they said they don't serve your bridal party. That was never discussed. My brother had to leave my wedding to go to the store for them because they didn't have containers for our leftovers. My contact person was a woman named tammy who had way too many personal issues which prevented her from communicating effectively. For the amount of money you spend you should be satisfied and I was not.

Amazing food and staff. Our guest absolutely loved the food and still call me to tell me how good it was! I was very satisfied!

Tammy is the best, and the food is out of this world. Our guests raved about the meal (we chose the honey almond chicken and the sliced pot roast). Tammy took care of all of the details for us, and we didn't have to worry about a thing. Everyone was so friendly, and the food was AMAZING. Luckily, we live in Concord, so we can go anytime. Highly recommend!!

Where do I even start! I was so excited about hiring Union Street for our big day. We went in and met with Alan and immediately knew we wanted him! Well come to find out we wanted Alan not Union Street Bistro - fast forward to four months before the wedding. I had sent numerous emails asking questions, wanting to finalize my menu, ya know all the things an excited bride does - no response - nothing at all! After talking to my Venue, they informed me that Alan had left and the catering division was now being overseen by someone else... seriously no email nothing to let me know this change had taken place - which I guess also explains not getting any response from my previous emails... well Tammy had received every single one of them and I guess I just wasn't important enough for her to respond to - when she did finally respond I found her to be quite rude and not someone I wanted to deal with. I should have gone with my gut instinct right then and lost me deposit and found another caterer! Responsiveness was awful and I had to finish every email with please let me know you received this... really?? I should not have to ask you to respond!! Now to the wedding - we ordered for our menu honey almond chicken, portabella beef tips, vegetable medley and mashed potatoes - what we got was frozen chicken patties with no seasoning or the honey almond coating and beef stew! It was absolutely the most humiliating thing to know you have built up your guest about this amazing menu and then they were served this distasteful mess they claimed to be food. When you looked around everyone had just pushed their plates to the side and were loading up on the bread - I could not believe what was happening. I of course emailed Union Street the Monday after the wedding and was told I would be contacted that very same day by the owners - wrong! Almost two weeks later I received an email with a letter attached stating they were very sorry we were not happy and even offered us a partial refund (now all of this was done after y husband left them a bad facebook review because he was upset they would not respond to any of my emails - anyway I have still not heard back from them or received any refund! An apology for sending frozen chicken to my wedding would have been a great start but I haven't even got that yet. Just don't make the same mistake I did - shop around and find a caterer that actually cares about what they are doing!

Tammy was awesome to work with! We were planning from Los Angeles, but she was able to meet with family members for a tasting and they had the absolute best time. Her team set everything up beautifully, and even made us plates so that we were able to eat. All of our guests raved about the food - particularly the honey almond chicken and the macaroni and cheese!

We could not have asked for a better catering service! From day one, they made our experience delightful and fun! The guest couldn’t stop talking about the food, absolutely delicious!!! Thank you so much for everything you did. We are so thankful you were able to be part of our big day!

Delicious! We were extremely pleased with the food & service provided by the Bistro! We used them for both our rehearsal dinner and the catering at our wedding reception! They provided completely different menus & made each event special in its own way! Tammy was amazing to work with and very accommodating with the entire process!

The service they provided was PERFECT, since the first day I contact them they made it so easy and relax to work with. The day of the wedding everything went amazing and the food was DELICIOUS! Everyone commented about it. So glad we picked them!

Alan and the crew at Bistro Catering went above and beyond for us on our wedding day. They were organized, professional and kind. The food was delicious, fresh and got a lot of compliments. We had some extra requests and they were quick to accommodate. They even helped us with the cleaning afterward (including mopping). If you're looking for a professional and classy catering company, this is it! We can't thank you enough for helping make our wedding night perfect!!!

When you receive compliments on the food at your wedding you know you’ve done it right!!! The food was amazing and the service was exceptional!! The staff were prefect the whole night they did everything to the t! The process of picking our menu for the wedding was so easy after eating at the restaurant a couple times because they have quite a large selection but with the number of options we had we were able to build what we thought was a prefect meal! Alan was so much fun to work with and he was there to answer any and all questions I had no matter how silly they were!! I absolutely loved having the cater our meal it was perfect!! And you must go by their restaurant for a great dinner!!! I will recommend them to everyone!!! Thank you!!

Absolutely wonderful! Great to work with and the food was AMAZING! One of my friends is a resort chef and has been trained by some talented chefs... so he is very picky about his food. He could not stop talking about how amazing the food was! I am not a leftovers fan, however the food is so good even reheated! I highly recommend them! The staff is very professional as well, my dad was truly impressed!

Alan & his catering services were fantastic! The food was amazing and every guest raved about how delicious it was! The servers were prompt and the set up of the buffet & place settings for the tables were perfection! Our bartender was also from Union Street & he did a fantastic job! Everyone from Union Street was very attentive! I would give you guys 10 stars if I could!! You made our day even better than we could have ever imagined! Thank you so much!

Alan and his team were absolutely amazing. Not only was the food delicious, his team was organized, efficient, and very professional! Alan responded quickly with all of our concerns and answered any last minute questions we had. Alan also provided a bartender who was professional and helped our night run smoothly as well! I highly recommend Union Street Bistro for any event! They are amazing!

We got married in August 2016 in the Charlotte area and chose Bistro Catering and Events a few days after our initial meeting. Starting off, we were so pleased with Alan, the food options and price point, and our tasting went very well. We had several favorite foods and the only problem was narrowing down and deciding what we wanted to serve. Fast forward to wedding day...nothing horrible happened but nothing was great either. About 5-6 high school/young college age kids arrived and no one appeared to be in charge. The food was luke warm, but not delicious and not comparable to the food that we had at our tasting. The catering staff did not clear plates quickly. Until the end of the evening when they began fully clearing tables, including table cloths, etc. while people were still sitting, dancing and enjoying the evening. They were just trying to leave early. They left behind multiple table linens and the hangers. Furthermore, we were supposed to have leftover food packaged up for the wedding party and us. It was all thrown away. We were also supposed to have appetizers from cocktail hour set aside for the wedding party, which never happened. In follow up, Alan appeared remorseful and we were informed that there were numerous events that day and they became short staffed. However, we have not heard from him since after he asked what had gone wrong. If you go with Bistro, know that you may not be a priority. Your event is important to you, but just money to Bistro. Our wedding was definitely not a priority for them.

Alan was great to work with. He answered all my questions and concerns promptly. He did not hurry us through the tasting, and he encouraged us to ask questions. The food was amazing!! The honey almond chicken is the best!! Definitely recommend Union Street Bistro!!

I cannot praise Alan and his team enough at Bistro! The food is amazing, there are a TON of options, and plenty of budget-friendly choices. Would recommend them to anyone getting married in the Charlotte area! Thank you for the amazing food and memories!!

My mom and I met Union Street Bistro at a bridal show case. We tasted the pot roast and we were sold. At our tasting we didn't taste the pot roast we had been raving about. Fast forward 10 months to our wedding and he said it was totally worth the wait. All of the food was amazing and our guests loved it! Alan was great! My mom was constantly calling, emailing and texting him with questions, concerns and updates. He answered all her questions, assured her that everything was great and appreciated updates. I highly recommend Bistro! (Check out the Chicken Bacon Brochette Skewers! They're the best!)

Alan and the staff at Bistro Catering was just wonderful and easy to work with. The food was amazing. Alan was very helpful at our tasting with all his recommendations. I have been to several wedding and I wanted to make sure we had great food and because of Bistro Catering we had great food. This staff did a great job, service was impeccable. From Iniko and I we would just like to say a heartfelt thank you for making our wedding experience remarkable.

Allan is wonderful to work with. He helped us pick a great menu that everyon loved. The guys who were our servers at the wedding were extremely attentive and did a great job. Our bartender was great and made sure that everyone had drinks, especially my husband and I. The food was awesome and we were extremely happy.

Bistro Catering was wonderful to work with. We met with Alan for our first tasting, and he provided a variety of foods for us to try. The food was so delicious, we knew right then we would book them for our wedding. Our communication with Alan throughout the entire planning process was fantastic. We wanted to try another item that we did not have a chance to try at the tasting, and he set up a time for us to come in before the restaurant opened so that we could taste it before officially putting it on our menu. The menu has a huge selection of items for you to choose from. The catering staff was very professional and the food was delicious! We would highly recommend Bistro Catering & Events. Bistro Catering was absolutely amazing at our wedding. We had to be very selective because our wedding was held in a barn so there were a lot of moving peices. Alan and Bistro catering made everything perfect on our wedding day. From the setup (it rained so we had to move inside at the last minute), to the service, to the timeliness of their whole operation, we were very very impressed. Several of our guest complimented the food and said it's the best wedding food they'd ever had. Bistro even provided a bartender that made sure our guests were served quickly and our signature cocktail was made. Again, we were so impressed with Bistro and everything they did to make our special day perfect. I would recommend to anyone!

The pot roast and mixed veggies were awesome! The quality of the food looked and tasted good. All of the staff were great. The bartenders even helped load the extra beer for my parents after the reception. The price of the food per person including the cheese and fruit were a bit pricey. Besides the price, I have no complaints. Alan was great to work with while planning. He was very informative and helpful.

We used Union Street Bistro for our rehearsal dinner and wedding reception. The food is amazing! Everything was delicious and we had multiple guests come up to us at both events raving about how good the food was. They do respond back to you promptly. However, I felt like some responses were rude or condescending, especially when trying to figure out pricing and small details such as how many highchairs the vendor had. Also, at the rehearsal dinner, we did not have great service from the staff. We started the buffet line ourselves, played our slideshow ourselves, and had to track down waiters for different things. They did seem to find us when it was time to pay the bill though... Overall, great food, fast responses, but service is not up to par in my book. It was a bit pricey too.

This vendor was required through the use of Saratoga Springs as an outdoor wedding venue. Although the food was good, they were expensive and not as responsive to calls or emails. They knew you were required to use them thus I felt their customer service suffered greatly!

Alan Bishop and Union Street Bistro and Catering was organized, detail oriented, and professional. He met with my husband and I multiple times for tastings and finalizing details. Alan and his staff were even willing to fold and place napkins that I had purchased. The staff was professional and helpful. They were so good at their jobs that we didn't even realize they were there working until we noticed all of the place had been cleared after dinner. They made sure all of our buffet items were stocked throughout the night. They also made to go boxes of all of the left over food for my husband and I to take home. The food was to die for. I've never heard so many compliments about wedding food. I was impressed with Alan and his staff and would highly recommend Union Street Bistro.
