Union Street Public House was the perfect wedding reception venue. Cheryl and her team were amazing. From the very beginning, I had no doubt that Cheryl had everything under control, and she delivered. She is extremely responsive and did a great job answering all my questions in the lead up to our wedding.
When we first got to the restaurant, Cheryl whisked us away for some appetizers and wine alone. This was a great moment to catch our breath. As for the dinner, the food and service were fantastic. I am pretty sure every time we put down our glass of wine to dance or speak with someone, we had new perfectly chilled glass offered to us the next moment. There was more than enough room for the tables, DJ, and the dance floor. They took great care of us and our 65 guests. Several weeks later, people are still complimenting the venue and food.
Overall, it was a fantastic night thanks to Cheryl and the team at Union Street!
The restaurant was beautiful and the prices seemed reasonable given linens were included and you have food and bar all in one place. The plated dinner is overpriced for what it is but the event management team is top notch and very organized. We were a little frustrated by some lack of transparency regarding the menu but the space is absolutely perfect and our guests loved the cozy atmosphere and proximity to the waterfront and accommodations. I would definitely recommend this venue.
I hosted my wedding rehearsal dinner (for 20 people) and welcome party here (for 75 people) this December, and couldn't be happier with how it went! Cheryl was incredible to work with, and at each juncture of planning I felt supported, informed, and like she had everything planned perfectly. We had a few calls and emails back and forth to confirm everything, and the communication was stellar and timely. The party itself was fantastic - Cheryl and her team had everything set up perfectly when I arrived, and were very thoughtful and went above and beyond even, in placing the decor items I had dropped off in creative ways. The guests raved about the food at the rehearsal and in the buffet at the welcome party, and the drinks as well were a hit! We also had speeches at the party, which Cheryl facilitated through the USPH's microphone system. The "vibe" and service of this restaurant and event space make it PERFECT for a party or event. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out! Thank you USPH!
Cheryl was great to work with, and was so helpful throughout the whole process! We really enjoyed having our reception here, the food and drinks were delicious, and the atmosphere phenomenal! It was very well priced, and our entire family loved it!
Working with Cheryl from day one was so easy. My husband and I had always dreamed of having a "dinner party" style wedding, and after enquiring with multiple downtown restaurants, USPH took the cake.
In terms of price, they quoted MUCH lower than other restaurants in the area. In terms of value, we feel as if we got what we paid for ten fold.
We chose the Grill Room for our 46 person wedding, and the ambience was perfect. This room is gorgeous as it is, but don't underestimate its ability to be transformed. Our wedding felt dream like.
Cheryl answered my hundreds of emails while planning, always responding promptly. On the day of our wedding, she was amazing, overseeing all decorating in conjunction with our florist, and attending to all the details. She was essentially our day-of-coordinator, keeping us on schedule and putting out little fires so that we could enjoy ourselves. Her value is immeasurable!
The food was amazing and their ability to handle dietary restrictions was fantastic. Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-free, Poultry allergies. Our guests ran the gamut and Cheryl never blinked an eye. We had a kids table and we were able to request a special kids' menu with USPH's delicious french fries, keeping our kids very happy all night long.
In closing, the wedding was perfect and USPH played the biggest role in making this the happiest day of our lives.
We had our rehearsal dinner here and it was excellent. The food was perfect and all of our family and friends left happy and full.
My now Father-in-Law reserved the George Washington room for the rehearsal dinner the night before our wedding and it was PERFECT! The staff decorated the room with a nice fall theme. The staff was super friendly and the food was great. I didn't do the logistics for the reservation, but from what I understand it was easy. Great atmosphere, great staff, great food, and NO STRESS:)
The food was good, but the service was just okay. When we arrived only 1 of the 2 rooms was reserved. They didn't have the reservations ready and had to check over our papers. They weren't very friendly about it. :( Drinks weren't being served, then when were finally ready, people from the bar area were sneaking in to order drinks and shots. We had to make sure their drinks weren't on our tab.
I had my rehearsal dinner here. My wedding theme was beach chic so I was impressed by their Regatta Room.
The food was good and the service was good. The one thing that I would have to advise TREMENDOUSLY is to make sure you get everything on paper and ask for a *proposal* (i.e., room, pricing, time, what exactly is being served) from the banquet manager (Jennifer Russel). Luckily, I did this. Apparently, they don't hand out proposals but I insisted to cover both sides.
Having been in the food service industry for five+ years and having been a wedding planner, I would have to say she is not the best at her job. They really need to hire someone new. For instance, we put a credit card down to hold a specific room and then they wanted to reneg and give it to a bigger party. We asked for a substitution of romaine/iceberg instead of the mixed greens. We thought maybe it would have some sort of julienned carrots or peppers. Nothing. We were eating rabbit food - Ms. Russel should have advised us that it's just mixed greens and no other vegetable. Another thing is that we asked to substitute fries for mashed potatoes. That didn't happen. So, we got fries and mashed potatoes on the side - it was a bit embarrasing (but nothing to really think about thereafter).
Don't get me wrong, the venue is nice. Nice part of town. Wait staff was perfectly accomodating. This was a nice place to have our rehearsal dinner. Just get everything on paper!! Also, if you're getting married, don't sweat the small stuff. Eat your rabbit food and go on your way to the chapel. Thanks for reading this review!
