My husband and I got married at Notre Dame in September 2023, and the whole weekend was exceptional from start to finish due to the incredible work of Cyndy Paliga, ND's Director of Wedding Events! Cyndy worked with us for over a year, helping us secure a large room block in the Morris Inn and multiple venues on campus, including Foley's for our Rehearsal Dinner, the Downes Club for our Reception, Photos on the Field before Cocktail hour, Rohr's for our after party, and the Morris Inn Ballroom for our farewell brunch.
We were so grateful for Cyndy's guidance, support, and communication throughout the entire wedding planning process and weekend. Every detail was executed perfectly, and logistically everything went very smoothly thanks to her help. ND Catering went above and beyond with the food & desserts at our rehearsal dinner and welcome party. I would also be remiss if I didn't give a shoutout to the entire staff at the Morris Inn, who were so kind and accommodating, helping with last minute requests and storing our wedding decorations for us. I'd highly recommend a Notre Dame wedding, and specifically working with Cyndy from Experience ND to make it happen!
We hosted our wedding reception at the Morris Inn Smith Ballroom. I would HIGHLY recommend this venue as it was the single best wedding planning decision we made. I never wanted to have a hotel ballroom wedding, but it made the most sense and I'm so glad we did this over the Downes Ballroom which would have cost much more and we didn't really see the benefit for what we were looking for. The Morris Inn was extremely convenient for our guests and for us so we didn't have to be running around and feel stressed getting across campus. Our guests all ran into each other and they loved that experience of all being right on campus. We also arranged for campus tours with the Eck Center which our guests loved. The Smith Ballroom was gorgeous especially after their renovations and the event space was perfect - not too crowded, no huge lines at the bar, bathrooms right there. Because the kitchen is on site, the food was SO amazing and we got so many compliments that it was the best wedding food people had ever had. The staff was so wonderful too and they were very attentive to if we needed anything. We also loved working with Cyndy from the Experience ND staff. She is fantastic and we felt lucky to have all of her guidance and advice and we knew she would be there to make sure everything went smoothly. We really felt like she was on our side & looking out for us. It was also so special to have our wedding at Notre Dame and I really appreciate the excellent quality, service & attention to detail that comes with Notre Dame. It made a huge difference to creating a perfect day!
My fiancé and I are ND alums, along with my parents, but we've unfortunately all been very disappointed in the communication we've received from our contacts at ND in planning our wedding. Anyone looking to get married should be aware that during the summer there is bound to be construction on campus. That is to be expected; however, one might assume that the venue coordinators would keep couples up-to-date with construction zones and would work to keep things running smoothly. We have not found this to be the case. When we learned that construction would preclude us from doing scheduled activities, the team was not apologetic (actually, they didn't even inform us of the construction, we usually found out through social media) nor were they helpful in finding alternative solutions. We all know that ND is a large and powerful university (and one that we love!), but there's an overwhelming sense that the staff does not feel a strong sense of aiming to please its customers.
We had to adjust our wedding plans due to Covid, but the folks at Venue ND were extremely accommodating and made our intimate wedding on our original date so very special. We're excited for the larger celebration next year!
Everything was flawless from start to finish. Our guests raved about the beautiful rooms, the event space was perfect, and the food was cooked to perfection.
Our coordinator Cyndi was out of this world, so helpful in ensuring that every single item happened as we imagined it. We were a minor event on campus that day, and the staff made us feel incredibly valued.
We loved the drinks, the food, the staff, the rooms, and everything in between. Pricing was fair, and they were very accommodating of dietary needs. Highly recommended to anyone looking - it is traditional and perfect in every way!
Our reception at the Morris Inn was perfect. It is SUCH a beautiful place. It's just spectacular. I'll never forget the feeling of walking into the Smith Ballroom for the first time and seeing everything set up. It was breathtaking. The staff and coordinator at the Morris Inn are fantastic! Very professional, organized and easy to communicate with. Also, the food was AMAZING! I had several people tell me that they'd never been to a wedding where everything they ate was delicious! I highly recommend the Morris Inn as a reception venue! It's top-notch!
This is probably my hardest review to write...the Morris Inn post-renovation is a beautiful location. But we had a wonderful wedding IN SPITE of, not BECAUSE OF the Morris Inn. Simply put, they have a captive audience. There are hundreds of ND weddings every year, and hundreds more that wished they could have gotten the date. There are SO MANY things about Notre Dame that are very well run. But the Morris Inn isn't one of them. I had been in touch with the events group prior to even securing my wedding date, so we had ample communication, but nevertheless, the following issues ensued: 1) after asking for contract updates, we were provided with a blank contract template instead. 2) we weren't informed until 5 months before the wedding (over a year after first contact) that certain menu options are only available to certain packages. There were no designations on any menu sheets before then. 3) despite signing a contract stating we would have 3 menu choices, they tried to tell us that we could only have 2. 4) less than a month before the wedding, my husband's night-before room was canceled because the booking department thought it was a duplicate (same name as his dad). 5) night of the wedding, the top TWO layers of our cake were not cut, despite us saying to cut everything (tiny slices given to all of our guests). 6) I was looking forward to the Jameson glazed salmon with colcannon for my meal...but they put PEAS in the colcannon! Not there when we sampled! And the bread rolls were spicy. Trying too hard to be "fancy" when they should just stick with basics.
I am so happy that we chose the Morris Inn as the venue for our wedding brunch reception. The whole staff really was there to make our day the best it could possibly be from the waiters to the bell hop (Patrick made our weekend seamless by working constantly behind the scenes). The food was delicious, the space is intrinsically beautiful, and the whole day was exceedingly elegant. My only complaint is with the event planner we were set up with, Mary Anne. I found her very difficult to get in contact with (writing multiple emails for a response) and it never felt like I could grab her attention which made planning from afar a little frustrating. Regardless of those small bumps along the way, the whole experience was absolutely wonderful ,and I would highly recommend working with Morris Inn for your wedding day.
I visited Notre Dame several times and had lunch at the Morris Inn, the place is beautiful and the staff were so accommodating and friendly. There was a doorman there named Matt who remembered me when I came back the following week and so very friendly. The rooms are so beautiful and have great amenities.
Excellent service cannot be stressed. The hotel staff was so amazingly helpful and friendly. 80% of our wedding traveled in the for event and we probably had guests in about 40 rooms in the hotel. Everyone came back to us with positive reviews and things to say. The hotel itself is gorgeous. Everything is very clean. They have 2 great restaurants downstairs that we visited - and loved both. Everyone from the valets to the reception staff to the cleaning crews were so incredibly kind and helpful. I am so glad we chose to host our guests at this hotel. I can't recommend them enough. They helped make our perfect weekend that much more perfect.
