Uptown Catering

Paul from the start was such a nice guy that without even knowing if his food was good it was an easy "yes" choosing him as our caterer. And let me tell you, the food sure delivered! ALL the guests, and most importantly-the father of the bride who not only was paying, but is a very tough food critic, LOVED the food. Paul made suggestions about what he thought was his best product and lasted well for the wedding. Highly recommend the short ribs and the chicken piccata and you NEED the garlic feta dip as an appetizer. I wish I had some now.

I can't begin to compliment Paul and his team at Uptown Catering enough. We went a bit off the beaten track for the rehearsal dinner for our wedding and decided to host it ourselves at a large AirBnB. After much deliberation, we also decided we wanted to prioritize an intimate setting and didn't want to go through all the hubbub of having a catering staff on site. Paul was able to work with us to give us EXACTLY what we were looking for. He helped us come up with a menu that was both DELICIOUS and unique (we were really worried about eating the same meal two days in a row, and Paul managed to give us a really creative and scrumptious dinner for our rehearsal). We picked up the food in warming trays from the restaurant and were able to handle the rest ourselves. And can I just say I am still dreaming about this food? The feta dip alone is enough to make me salivate right now but when we start getting into the short ribs with a demi-glace, and the green beans topped with red skins it is enough to almost make me want to plan another event just to have this food again. Cannot recommend Paul and Uptown Catering enough!

Paul and his team are GREAT. Such a down-to-earth guy, and his food is great too!! We had guests tell us “for the first time in my life I actually liked and ate all of the food at a wedding”. His restaurant serves AMAZING food too!

We were disappointed that Uptown Catering sent a 12-year-old boy as part of the staff to serve food to our guests at our wedding. Paul didn’t inform us he was going to do this, or ask. We found out when we saw the boy during our reception. We purposefully did not invite any children to our wedding (nobody under 25) and only had 100 guests, so this child was very noticeable and many of our guests commented on it. Every guest saw him because he was plating the green beans at the service buffet and clearing tables. In my opinion, this was not professional and honestly, I was annoyed. The green beans were hard and not fully cooked through. Our parents told us that nobody at their table ate them – we (the bride and groom) didn’t eat them. Several other guests told us after the wedding that nobody at their table ate them either. We chose Uptown Catering for our bartenders as well. We are upset to learn they had a tip jar on the bar counter and were encouraging guests to tip them via the jar and their personal Venmo accounts, especially after we had already tipped them ourselves with our final payment ahead of the event (which was required by Paul). One of our relatives told us they saw the bartenders taking money out of the tip jar throughout the night to make it look like it was empty and encourage more tips. A few guests told us the bartenders were rude to them. One guest told us there was a bee near the tip jar and as she was shooing the bee away from the jar, one of the bartenders swatted her hand away and said, “hey don’t touch my money.” One of my bridesmaids told me she ordered me (the bride) a vodka water and the bartenders poured the vodka in the glass and told her to fill the rest of the cup up with water from the water dispensers on the bar counter herself. My bridesmaid mentioned it was a drink for the bride and they told her they didn’t care. At multiple points throughout the night, I saw both water dispensers completely empty for guests. While the water dispensers were provided by the venue and not the caterer, it should be the job of the bartenders to alert the event coordinator if they were unsure how to refill the water dispensers and noticed they were empty sitting on the bar – especially if they are making guests fill their own drinks. We were disappointed to hear these comments afterward. Paul was responsive throughout our planning process. He offered advice, walked through our final choices with us and offered us a tasting ahead of the wedding. His food was good – so we were sad about the green beans not being fully cooked on the day of the wedding.
