My husband and I had THE BEST experience celebrating our wedding at the Valley Green Inn! We initially chose this venue because it had the most straightforward and all-inclusive wedding package options, as well as a beautiful and memorable outdoor location. Since the ceremony and reception were both at the Valley Green Inn, and all of the bar and catering services were included, the only additional vendors we needed to book were the florist, DJ, sound equipment, officiant, and photographers.
Amber made the wedding planning process incredibly smooth and easy by providing us with all the necessary information at different stages leading up to the event. She was extremely supportive of our vision, a lot of fun to work with, and made us feel like celebrities on our special day.
The day of our wedding, it rained on and off, and the Valley Green Inn staff was able to shift the outdoor ceremony to a tented canopy space, which ended up working out better than we could have ever imagined. Many of our guests said that the sound of the rain on the canopy made the ceremony feel more intimate, romantic, and connected with the surrounding nature of the beautiful park along the Wissahickon Creek.
Something that I love about this venue is that it feels very family-friendly and down-to-earth, but the food and catering menu felt like a top-notch 5-star restaurant experience! We really enjoyed tasting and choosing our wedding menu ahead of time, as well as designing the floor plan, layout, and flow of the event to suit our needs. Overall, we had about 100 guests. Many people complimented us afterward saying that it was the most beautiful, memorable, and fun wedding they had ever attended.
I highly recommend working with Amber and the Valley Green Inn team if you are looking for an exceptional wedding experience!

We got married at Valley Green Inn April 12th and we could not have had a more perfect day. Valley Green has always been a very special place to me, but I could have never imagined just how wonderful and thoughtful their entire staff would be. I knew we were in great hands with Amber from our initial meeting. She is flexible and laid back while also being on top of every detail and has great existing relationships with a number of the local vendors. Her expertise was invaluable to us. She even assured us we weren't crazy for planning a wedding in only 6 months. Our guests were raving about the food and drink the entire night. Could not recommend this beautiful venue and their amazing staff enough!!

We got married at Valley Green in March of 2024 during an insane rain storm. Despite the rain, the entire team at VGI executed a flawless event. Everyone that works there is wonderful. Amber, the Event Manager, is especially a joy to work with. She is super responsive and always kept the energy level high. She made it feel like we were the only couple she was working with at any given time. The food, drinks, and service were all fantastic and the venue is beautiful. The power went out during the reception due to the crazy storm and the VGI team had the power back up and the party back on in literally less than a minute thanks to a backup generator. They seem ready to handle any scenario with ease. VGI was also very receptive to our ideas and the DIY nature of our decor. 10/10 venue!
Any questions?

We were married at the Valley Green Inn in July 2023. It was the wedding of our dreams!! We have always loved the Wissahickon and we knew when we met Amber that this was the perfect venue. Everyone on the VGI team, including Amber, the bartenders, the servers, and the chef, was incredibly professional and friendly. They were a joy to work with throughout the planning process and on the day itself. A thunder storm came through right when we were supposed to walk down the aisle and the VGI team flipped cocktail hour with the ceremony time so that our guests could wait out the storm under the tent. We ended up having a beautiful sunset ceremony on the creek. It was a perfect summer evening wedding and it felt like we had the park to ourselves. The reception area is covered and well protected from heat and bugs. The s'mores/fire pit was AWESOME. We cannot thank the VGI team enough for all they did to make our special day happen. Looking back at our wedding, there is absolutely nothing we would change.

Wow, I have a lot to say about this special place. First, this is a great venue for DIYers. Amber was super chill about all of my ideas and what I was allowed to bring in. She was a joy to work with. It's so nice when you work with people who seem to really love their jobs and want to make the best possible experience for you. She let us drop decor off days before and let us start setting up outside the morning of the wedding, which was so helpful. Her staff was also awesome. It rained on our wedding day and the staff helped us with set up after my plans didn't quite pan out the way I had expected. They jumped into action to make everything look great.
We also loved how the food turned out. I have very low expectations for wedding food in general, but I can honestly say the food was great. So many guests commented on it. Our guests loved the bartenders. They were fun and creative in their drink concoctions and even took on challenges for themed drinks.
I think my fav thing about this venue is that you would never know you are in Philly. It's lush and beautiful and it was so fun to share the Wissahickon with our families. I love that its open to the public and that we can come to this venue anytime to remember our special day, you don't get that with every venue!
Lastly, hire Birdseed Florals. Her talent thrives at this venue and really made it come to life. Just tell her your vibe and let her do her thing. You won't regret it.

We couldn't have chosen a better spot for our wedding! The venue, the location, the food - everything was absolutely perfect. We have to give a special shout-out to Amber because getting to work with her is itself reason enough to choose Valley Green Inn for your wedding. Amber is such a joy and brought so much kindness and positive energy to the entire wedding planning process, especially the big day! We can't wait to visit again soon.

My husband and I are so happy that we had our wedding at Valley Green Inn. Amber was so responsive throughout the planning process, and she helped ensure that we had an ideal menu for our all-vegan wedding. Amber and the other staff members made sure to set up our items/stations per our requests. They kept a close eye on the weather and setup our guests' chairs under the covered area for the ceremony.

I cannot say enough how perfect the staff at the Valley Green Inn is! Amber helped us plan our wedding every step of the way. She gave us so many vendor recommendations (most of which we used) and was always available for a call to go over details. Her expertise is unmatched and her attention to detail helped give us the wedding of our dreams!
The food was amazing. Our guests still talk about how much they loved the Chicken Marsala! And the bar and wait staff were attentive all night.
The venue itself if amazingly beautiful. The ceremony space by the stream is so picturesque. And the surrounding park gives you endless opportunities for beautiful photographs. The team sets the space so that we were able to fit 147 guests comfortably with more than enough space for dancing.
Thank you to Amber and the Valley Green Inn team for an amazing night!

We married October 2022 and Valley Green was a gorgeous display of color for us. The leaves were changing, the staff was remarkable, the food was amazing. Amber and her team kept us on point without feeling rushed. For an all outdoor event, the heaters for the dining area and the s’mores fire pit certainly kept the atmosphere comfortable. We are still getting great comments about the amazing venue and the delicious food. Thank you Valley Green for such a memorable day!

We had our fall wedding here in September and could not imagine having it anywhere else! Amber was so helpful and responsive throughout the two year planning process and went above and beyond to make sure our wedding was perfect. You can’t beat the stunning location, amazing food, fun games and s’mores!! Book your wedding here now if you can!!

Valley Green Inn had a special spot in our hearts and they were the perfect place for our wedding! Amber was a great on-site coordinator and kept everything organized, especially since we did not have a wedding planner. The space was perfect for our small wedding of ~50 guests. The creekside ceremony space was beautiful in the June evening (just beware of the geese). All of the staff were incredibly friendly and the food was a hit among our diverse friends and families.

We could not have been happier with Valley Green Inn. It truly was the perfect setting for our April wedding. From the greenery, to the friendly servers and bartenders, to the food, everything was perfect and we heard compliments from our guests all night long. To top it all off, the coordinator, Amber, was incredible. She made everything so easy for us along the way, always quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had all the way through the end of the wedding night. Her positivity and enthusiasm made our jobs so much easier and made the night worry-free!
11/23/2021 • Jamie K
We eat here all the time and the food never disappoints!
We also just had our wedding there November 5. If you are considering an event or wedding at Valley Green, do it!
The staff and coordinator Amber are amazing. We had to postpone due to Covid and Amber would call just to check in. They worked with everything we had and any issue that arose.
We could not have asked for a more perfect day! Location, coordinator and inn staff are absolutely wonderful!

Valley Green Inn was our dream reception venue and exceeded every single one of my and my husband's expectations through the entire wedding planning process and including the wedding itself. Amber was so responsive, thoughtful and genuinely enthusiastic which made her so great to work with. She completely understood my vision for how I wanted the reception space set up and when I dropped off all our decorations I knew she'd execute it flawlessly. All of the food was PHENOMENAL- we did a brunch wedding and it was delicious. Amber was even so thoughtful as to bring me and my husband a full plate of food because she knew we would be too busy to get some ourselves from the buffet. The space itself is so beautiful and all our guests couldn't stop complimenting us on picking such a gorgeous venue. We comfortably sat 150 guests and even had room for a dance floor- the space is bigger than it looks! I really couldn't have asked for more and Valley Green Inn really made our wedding incredible.

We love hiking in the Wissahickon, so it was an easy choice to have our wedding ceremony and reception at the Valley Green Inn. Amber was so easy to work with, regarding the food selection, decor, and timeline for the day. We got married two days after a hurricane came through, and Amber kept us up to date on clean-up efforts and whether our ceremony would need to be moved. Luckily the Friends of Wissahickon and parks dept. cleaned up the flooded area and we were able to have our ceremony right next to the water.

We were so thrilled with our choice of Valley Green Inn for our wedding. We love the venue and it's location and Amber was so great. She was so helpful and supportive as we postponed due to COVID and then changed some details around. The space was beautiful and our guests also loved being able to walk outside. Thank you so much for all your help, Amber!

We held my daughter's wedding reception here and it was amazing! Amber was so easy to work with and made sure we didn't forget anything. The location was beautiful and the food was delicious. Everything was perfect!

Amber and her entire team were amazing!! Everything from start to finish was great. Our guests had a great time and had nothing but good things to say about Valley Green. Definitely a perfect place to have your wedding.

I cannot recommend Valley Green Inn enough, they were fantastic! Amber was so professional, hard working, and accommodating. After postponing our large wedding due to COVID we decided to do a small intimate ceremony this year. Originally we were only supposed to have our ceremony there but the day before our reception venue cancelled on us.
I contacted Amber and she immediately put me at ease. She had a quote over to us in less than two hours and assured me not to worry she had it all taken care of. The day turned out absolutely perfect. Amber handled the whole event herself from decorating, to taking orders, and serving and she didn't miss a beat. The food was delicious and the location is absolutely beautiful. If you are thinking of having your wedding here do no hesitate!

This place was AMAZING! I can’t speak highly enough about Amber and Tanya and the care they put in to creating our wedding. The food was delicious and the cake was also so great! Everything flowed seamlessly even with some unpredictable weather on our day. We had a Christmas wedding and the greenhouse space was perfect! Every one of our guests is still commenting on how much fun they had and how beautiful everything was! Thank you Valley Green Inn!

My husband and I chose the Valley Green Inn for our wedding venue for its laid back, rustic, woodsy appeal. We wanted a venue that was not a typical ballroom - something with some character. The VGI staff (specifically Catie) was super responsive, flexible and overly accommodating. VGI truly allowed us to create our wedding vision within their space. We brought in farm tables, chivari chairs, food trucks, lantern lighting, and more - to really make the space our own. Catie worked with me on budget and through every step of the wedding planning journey. She acted as my own personal wedding coordinator. It was wonderful. Thank you to Valley Green Inn for our dream wedding day! The best part is - we will be coming back every year for our wedding anniversary dinner and you're amazing food.

Having our wedding at Valley Green was the best decision we made! Amber and her team made the entire process so stress free and enjoyable. From the tasting to the decor, everything flowed so seamlessly. Amber and team ran around that night and made sure everything was going according to plan. Our wedding night was a little colder than anticipated and they did everything to make sure our guests were comfortable. We've gotten nothing but compliments on the food and the experience. I cannot recommend Valley Green enough if you are looking for an elegant, rustic wedding.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about VGI's wedding coordinator, Amber! She is so warm & welcoming, hard working, funny, and brilliant at her job. Our wedding day was perfect thanks to Amber and her team. The food was excellent, especially the mini cheese steak apps. The venue is absolutely beautiful. You have access to the entire inn (depending on what package you choose), and a covered outdoor patio with a permanent tent with beautiful string lights and heaters. The VGI lets you use their lanterns, tea light candles, lawn games, and more. Amber lead us through the whole process and made sure everything was perfect. We would have been lost without her. Highly highly recommend!

I had my wedding at the Valley Green Inn this past August. Catie Grozinski was in charge of organizing our event there. From the first time we met with her, and throughout the entire planning experience, she was amazing! She went out of her way to make sure our wedding was perfect- and it was beyond perfect. The food was amazing, the service too! Catie even helped with the decorating. I can't tell you how many times she put me at ease through the stressful process of planning a wedding, every little worry that popped into my head, Catie already had a plan and solution for. I can't recommend her services enough! I also would highly recommend the Valley Green Inn as a venue. It was absolutely beautiful. Better than I ever imagined. Thanks for everything!

Amber and her team (specifically Tanya!) at Valley Green Inn were phenomenal! I cannot recommend this venue enough. Unfortunately, two months before our wedding, our previous wedding coordinator left Valley Green Inn without notifying us, and we were pretty upset that this happened. But I'd like to praise Amber, because she took over in a seamless transition that was unnoticeable to us. She was exceptional - she clearly communicated with transparency and honesty, made herself readily available, and put our worries at ease about situations such as parking (which is not the easiest at Vally Green). The location is stunning, and we were fortunate enough to be blessed with a beautiful fall day. The staff went above and beyond to make our wedding day truly the wedding of our dreams.

Catie and her team at Valley Green Inn were a pleasure to work with. They are amazing and accommodating. We got married outside on the front lawn and had a reception to follow at the Inn. Our guests, my husband, and I had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend!

Valley Green was an absolute dream - and our coordinator Katie Swann was so amazing and sweet. She made us feel so comfortable and taken care of. The venue and park surrounding it was so beautiful. Our guests also loved that they could spread out between the dance floor, the Inn and the stream/woods. I would recommend this venue and our lovely coordinator 1000%.

Valley Green offers not only a gorgeous natural setting but also a really fun place to have a wedding. Our daughter and her husband were married in front of their beloved Wissahickon Creek. The patio was lovely for dinner and dancing, and our guests also loved the covered porch and the interior of the Inn. We had games and cigars out on the trail, which the non-dancers particularly enjoyed. Everything was spacious and beautiful. Katie Swann, the new coordinator, is WONDERFUL! She took charge of everything, and we could relax and leave everything to her professional expertise. She even helped us time out the procession. The room where the wedding party waited to process was cool and comfortable with chairs and tables where we could relax. There was plenty of room even for our rather large group of bridesmaids and groomsmen. Perfect!

If I had to do it over again, I am not sure I would book here. Reading through some of these reviews, we had problems consistent with what others experienced. Although the wedding coordinator was quick to reply to emails and very clear in her information, she was not warm or friendly. Getting married/planning a wedding is a very emotional time and the other vendors we used were simply more pleasant to deal with and made the day very special for us. Valley Green did not offer that kind of service. The day of coordinator seemed overwhelmed and did not stick to the schedule that we had been asked to fill out. I was under the impression she would "take charge" since she had all the information we were asked to provide, but that did not happen and I felt like I was still trying to find people and get them to do things (like be announced, etc). She started our parent dances 45 minutes late, delaying the opening of the dance floor, cutting of the cake, etc. She also did not have our stuff (toasting flutes, photos, etc) ready to go at the end of the evening as promised. To be fair, she said she had been at work since 8am, so I imagine she was tired, but why could they not have someone who was "fresh" (and possibly more experienced or confidant in what they are doing) available to help.
Also to note, the standard package here is for 4 hours, most other venues is for 5. You will want that extra hour. The day FLIES by. Consider that when comparing prices.
Parking can be an issue and we had shuttles booked to bring our guests there. This is an added expense and logistical nightmare, just beware. Of all of wedding planning, coordinating this was the biggest headache- not all shuttle companies will go down there and depending on guest counts you may need to book more than one because only small buses can go down there.
The venue is unique, the ceremony on the water was beautiful (even though it had grass when we booked the venue, all the grass was dead when we arrived for the wedding :(), guests enjoyed themselves and gave the food good reviews. I asked a few guests and I think the service they received was better than what we received as bride and groom. It does look beautiful in photos and I think our guests were more impressed with the venue than I was.

My husband and I celebrated our wedding at Valley Green Inn on September 17, 2016. It was the very first place we looked at but decided to look around further so we didn't rule out any options. One year later (we weren't in any rush) we came right back to our original location at the VGI. We booked before a certain date during a special in which the room booking fee was waived completely. That saved us a bundle!
VGI is pretty all inclusive. The cake comes from Bredenbeck's and is worked in the per person price. Linens and small centerpieces were included. This took a lot off of our plate. Less vendors to coordinate!
Their food is amazing. We had gone here for the very first time for brunch. That very first time was when we had first considered their location for our wedding.
Their contract was thorough and not confusing. The coordinator was in contact with me as needed. I wasn't getting emailed every day and overwhelmed but when I contacted I was promptly answered. They made the process as easy as it could possibly be!
We fell in love with the surrounding foliage and vibe. It set a tone for our wedding that no indoor place could duplicate. Their provided centerpieces were all we needed. The linens and tables looked fabulous with just a few touches added. Just look outside! Our guests still talk about the party. Fun, romantic, and one they will never forget. We feel the same way and would have our wedding day all over again without one single change!
11/16/2016 • Deborah M
The coordinators have made everything simple so far -- simplicity is one of my goals in planning my wedding and the fact that they take care of the cake, the toast, even flowers for the tables, has been a lifesaver for me as I've planned a wedding on a short timeline!
7/29/2016 • Amanda M
We had our wedding there a few weeks ago. The location is amazing!! Gorgeous! You seriously can't get any better than Forbidden Drive. The Inn is also gorgeous as well. The price was very reasonable. We didn't want to have to worry about little things such as linens, center pieces, utensils, etc. The price also included the cake from Bredenbeck's. So they took care of everything and we were happy with it. We just supplied the decorations. The food was good too.
The reason I only gave 4 stars though was because of the service. Back when we went for the tasting, it was like they weren't aware of us coming. They also didn't have one of our choices that we wanted to try. Not a big deal, but they just weren't too prepared. And the staff always looks so glum. A friendly smile goes a long way. :)
On the wedding day, there was no guidance as what to do before the ceremony. They don't do rehearsals so anything we rehearsed outside the night before was on our own. As for what happens after the ceremony, we weren't sure. We needed somewhere to go since people were arriving and it was about 30 minutes before start time. But no one knew where we were supposed to go for the time. Our day-of planner was no where to be found. So we made ourselves comfortable in the room to right of the entrance, where the night before we were told by I believe the manager (middle aged man, grey hair and mustache and glasses) that that room gets used for the party (we asked when we ran our rehearsal). The tables were filled with dirty plates, leftover cake, high chairs...a party had just left this room. So we sat there still unsure if we were even supposed to be in that room! No one came and no one told us otherwise.
Finally we asked if we could go into the bar area because that room was disgusting. When in the bar, I spoke to our day-of planner and she said that room we were in was only used if you rent the entire inn. I understood that when she told me, I just did not understand why we weren't told where else we should have been then. We would have happily gone to the appropriate place. Even sitting in the bar, no one asked the bridal party if they wanted water or anything. In fact, the bar tender was putting on her socks behind the bar as one of the groomsmen asked for a drink. She told him to hang on a minute...
I was just very surprised with how things went on our wedding day. Perhaps if the event coordinator was there things would have been a little different. She was easy to communicate and work with prior to the wedding. Either way, we were not greeted when we got there, the staff looked at us as if we were an inconvenience, and the day-of planner seemed overwhelmed and bothered. I didn't feel like they were as professional as I assumed they would be at Valley Green Inn. I was just really disappointed by this.
Overall, the wedding was gorgeous and thankfully our guests received better service!

My husband and I were not ones overthink our wedding decisions. When we saw the Valley Green Inn, we knew we wanted to get married there. We put the deposit down a week before our actual engagement. Tegan was amazing to work with. She was available the entire day of the wedding to assist and she was in constant communication via email through our year of planning. We found it so helpful to track everything that needed to be done leading up to the wedding. She was very quick to answer questions and often communicated with both of us on each email. It really made for great team work in managing all of the odds and ends. We lucked out with a beautiful fall day which enabled us to use the outdoor space for our ceremony and then move the party inside for a wonderful brunch meal in the porch area. I highly reccomend renting the entire venue. It gave people space to move around and relax while enjoying the atmosphere. Our guests were in love with the venue and the food was perfect. I have not a bad thing to say about my experience with this venue. I would recommend it time and time again!

What a magical place for a wedding! It was great that we could do photos, the ceremony, and the reception (including food, drinks, and cake!) at one amazing location. All our guests commented on how perfect the setting was.
Tegan & her staff were phenomenal to work with. They were extremely patient and accommodating. I could not imagine a better experience!
7/09/2015 • Heather M
This a beautiful, picture-perfect venue, especially in the month of June. With winter melting away and spring in full bloom, the beginning of summer just makes it the wooded wonderland that it truly is! Our wedding could not have been a more picturesque with the lush backdrop of tall trees and the charming Wissahickon Creek running through it.
We had a day wedding, as opposed to night, which is the best value for your buck because it included a four hour open bar (might we add that they also served pretty strong drinks, which was very much appreciated). ;)
Tegan, our wedding coordinator was very responsive and organized. Any questions that arose, big or small, she was there to answer them all. We actually moved to Central PA so a lot of planning and correspondence was done through email. Tegan worked with us with such ease! The staff were also exceptional. They were truly attentive and caring about us and our guests.
I highly recommend Valley Green Inn to any couple (or singles)! Whether you are in Wissahickon Creek Park to hike, feed the ducks, grabbing a bite to eat, or planning or attending a wedding, you will undoubtedly enjoy this hidden gem of Philadelphia. Enjoy!

We recently had our wedding at the Valley Green Inn. We had a brunch wedding on a Saturday morning, about 80 guests. Everyone we worked with during the planning and on the day of was outstanding. Tegan was so helpful with the planning and answered all of our questions throughout the process. Kate was the day of coordinator and she made sure our day ran smoothly. We had some bumps in the road, rain, people running late, etc. and I never felt any of the stress. To me the day felt absolutely perfect and I have to thank the Valley Green staff for that. We planned on having our ceremony outside and due to rain we had to move it indoors. The reception space looked beautiful for the ceremony and I heard some of our guests didn't even realized that that wasn't the original plan. Overall a wonderful experience and I would recommend this venue to any other bride.
9/25/2014 • Marcelle M
We could not have been happier with the services from Valley Green Inn! Tegan was our wedding coordinator and made sure that everything ran smoothly from the start of the planning process through to the end of the reception.
Out of all the venues we had looked at, Valley Green was BY FAR the most reasonably priced and incredibly flexible. Their packages include SO much (cake, open bar, linens, etc. etc.), there are no hidden costs or fees, and the quality far surpasses many other places-- and at a reasonable price! The food was outstanding, the service was immpeccible, and the location is stunningly beautiful to boot.
We had a brunch reception... if you're even vaguely considering this, DO IT. Their brunch menu was amazing! In addition, the wait staff was VERY attentive. One of the waiters at the cocktail hour made sure to bring us some of the hors d'ouevres while we taking pictures down the trail, and even reserved a plate of them for me and my husband at our table! This bride and groom actually got to eat at their wedding!
We can't thank Valley Green and Tegan enough for making such a wonderful day even more perfect! We'll definitely be recommending them to anyone we know getting married!

Tegan and Emily helped me achieve the wedding if my dreams! Valley Green Inn exceeded all of my expectations. They were very accomidating and addressed all of my concerns even up to the day of the wedding. All of our guest have only had great things to say about the venue, food, and drinks. I would totally recommend checking Valley Green Inn as a possible wedding Venue.

Thank you thank you thank you to Tegan and Emily and the entire staff at Valley Green Inn. From the moment we made the incredible decision to have our wedding with you, we had nothing but fantastic experiences.
Tegan is a wonderful communicator, and is extremely knowledgeable and efficient. Emily stepped in beautifully that weekend, and worked incredibly hard to make our Sunday brunch wedding a phenomenal success. She was so professional and had a great attitude.
Food was fantastic, venue was gorgeous, and all the details were perfect. The entire wedding was so reasonably priced, which took so much stress out of the planning.
Not one thing about the wedding we would change! Many thanks to Tegan and Emily for giving us a wedding we would choose over and over again. We will recommend Valley Green Inn to everyone we know :)

Choosing the Valley Green Inn was the best decision I made. We had a Sunday brunch wedding which was so perfect for our budget. There was also so much included with the package that made planning a breeze.
Tegan was so easy to work with and answered emails quickly. I didn't get to talk with Emily much before the wedding, and as a result a few small details got lost in the shuffle. (The chairs I wanted out for the ceremony, the kinds of vases I wanted used for centerpieces, and the kinds of flowers. I wanted white but ended up with yellow and purple flowers. It was fine since it was a mostly white wedding.)
I would definitely have my wedding at VGI over and over again.

We had our wedding at Valley Green on April 27th - beautiful location, we were able to get married right by the water. Tegan, their wedding coordinator was very sweet and helpful. I felt that she was extremely competent at her job and that I could trust her to make the best decisions in regards to decorations and overall set up. The food was also very good, heard no complaints from the guests. In fact, most of our guests were from out of town and they were thrilled to see a piece of Philadelphia history. I was initially concerned about not renting the entire restaurant and being bothered by regular diners, however, this was not a problem at all and we still felt like we had a very private party. Cannot recommend this venue enough!

When my husband and I started the wedding planning process, we decided that we didn't want to go the traditional sit-down or buffet dinner reception route. As we started visiting different wedding reception venues, we began to find that customizing our wedding to what we wanted was not what many venues wanted or were willing to do. Those that agreed to put together special menus for us either never followed-up or their estimates were more than even the traditional menus. Then we decided to check out the Valley Green Inn which I had passed a few times while hiking and meeting up with friends in the Wissahickon Valley Park. From our first meeting with Kate Harron, we knew that the VGI would be a perfect place for us. Kate was very focused on making this wedding about my husband and I and what were envisioned and not about fitting us into one of their packages. We were able to pick out a specific menu to our vision, and were able to use friends/vendors that we knew personally instead of those already set up by the VGI (such as for the cake). Kate was very responsive to our emails and questions and the staff were very warm and helpful when we'd visit the venue. Unfortunately Kate left her position at the VGI, but we began working with 2 other very competent and helpful event coordinator/managers. Emily was great and seeing my vision and themes for the flower arrangements that she made for our tables (which are included in the contract details- major bonus!), and Tegan was great and answering our questions and making sure that every detail for our day was thought out thoroughly. On the day of our wedding, there was a large chance of rain, and so the staff set up our ceremony both outside by the creek as planned and under the covered pavilion for Plan B. The rain held off for our ceremony- Hallelujah, and the staff quickly made the adjustments to the ceremony set-up and the reception room to get it ready for our guests. I felt that both Tegan and Emily were genuinely excited for us on our day, and not just concerned about crossing us off their calendar.
I could go on and on about why we love the VGI- all our guests loved the venue and I think we may have convinced some guests to be future customers to the VGI :)
If you are looking for a unique, historical, personal wedding experience- check out the VGI and tell Tegan and Emily that Chris and Katrina sent you!

Let me say first off that our Wedding was beautiful and the food was superb, and the staff at the Inn are wonderful, kind and hardworking. The reason I'm writing a negative review is because of the frustration and disappointment I experienced as a bride, due to the way this venue has chosen to run its event coordinating.
Let's start back a few months ago. The Valley Green Inn is around 1 1/2 hours from my house and I had already gone out there to have a talk with the then coordinator Kate. She was Awesome!
Well, about 2 or 3 months before my wedding I got an email from Kate saying she had left her position at the Inn for a new job and was being replaced by two women, Tegan and Emily. So, now I had to make another trip out there to be sure all I had discussed with Kate was adequately transferred to Tegan who is the contact person of the two ladies.
I did a very DYI type wedding and spent about 9 months shopping for unique items at antiques stores, flea markets and thrift shops. I did a lot of hands-on refurbishing of these items to make them wedding ready. It was A LOT of work, time, effort and care that I poured into every detail.
I also took as much care to package and label all the items for the wedding so that they would be put in their proper place the day of and I went over the specific details of the use of each item with Tegan several times including the day before the wedding when I actually dropped everything off and pointed out each thing to her and explained it.
You can imagine my disappointment when the guys never got their boutineers, the centerpieces (which were to have two different size jars and a small vase) only had one large jar (have no idea what happened to the other jars and vases), two of the three chairs for our photo booth were not set out, one of my bridesmaids had to fix the program basket as it was sitting empty with the programs laying on a rock next to it, the sweetheart table had random scarfs draped on it that were for the photobooth and were never suppose to be on the sweetheart table, Emily couldn't figure out how to open the birdcage for our cards (that I had repainted to match the decor) so she replaced it with the Inns (good improvising, but not what I wanted. There was plenty of time for her to ask me how it opened, it was so simple), and my maid of honor literally had to argue with Emily to lay the babies breath out on the isle instead of putting it in our centerpieces where it was not suppose to go.
The real issue is that two people should not have a job that is for one person unless both people are going to be equally involved.
I did all the talking and explaining to Tegan, but she wasn't at the wedding!!! She explained everything to Emily who never heard a single word of instruction from me and Emily did all the organizing the day of!!!! I didn't realize that's how it would be. It's nearly impossible to accurately relay such detailed instruction second hand. it was very heartbreaking to see my reception not as I wanted after literally 9 months of hard work to make it perfect and mine.
I think there are some bugs that need to be worked out of the new event coordinating staff. Wonderful people and hard working, but did not get the bride's wishes done right. To top it all off, I have to make that long drive back there to pick up the items that never made it out the day of the wedding. They never got packed up and taken back with the bridal party because they were up in storage.

We had a small wedding with 60 guests and this venue was perfect for it. We also love the outdoors so we had the ceremony there as well right next to the river. Despite a change of personnel prior to my wedding day, everything remained very professional. Also, my family said that they thought that the staff on the day of the event were excellent!

Valley Green was a dream come true. Not only was it a beautiful location for both the ceremony and reception, the staff was extremely helpful and the reception package came with almost everything we needed, eliminating the effort of finding dozens of vendors. The wedding went perfectly and we received many compliments from the guests on our choice of venue.
Also, they provided all the catering and the food was excellent. They provided the linens and table centerpieces, which fit perfectly with our vision. Valley Green was really willing to do whatever they could to make our wedding exactly what we wanted.

This venue is so top notch that there is no room to write all of the amazing things that I have to say about it. First and formost Kate Harron is AMAZING!!!!, my daughters wedding had to get planned in 3 months since she was marrying an army officer being sent to Germany and the couple were in Oklahoma the entire time with the groom doing training. I am the Mother of the Bride and have lived near the Inn for many years. When I started to try to plan the wedding I thought of the VGI first but decided I should still check out other venues including the Ritz, Moshalu and a host of other venues (I have OCD), well I should have never wasted the gas, VGI was perfection and when the Bride made a trip home to deal with some details, she too fell in love. On wedding day we walked into a reception that was so flawlessly executed that NO ONE had anything but rave reviews. I am a SUPER picky person but Kate made every single element of the decor items I provided look so much better than I could have imagined. it was flawless, the food was fabulous, the wait staff helpful and respectful, they were flexible and so over the top I just wish everyone would be able to have their reception there, and by the way they were also very reasonable and the house flowers were so much better than any florist and the cake is from Bredenbecks!, Kate you have a gift that suits you to a "T" and I for one hope that everyone you come in contact with realizes how amazing you truly are!!!

We are so happy with everything the Valley Green Inn did for our reception! The food, the atmosphere, the service, were all impeccable. (people are still commenting on how amazing the food was almost 2 months after the wedding) Kate made everything so simple and easy for us - she was always available for any questions I had. And even when we hit a small snafu the day of the wedding, Kate and her staff took it all into stride and made sure everything was perfect! The Valley Green Inn was the ideal spot for our reception, I wish we could do it all again there!

Kate and the entire staff at the Valley Green Inn did an exceptional job making our big day truly perfect. Our guests raved about how uniquely beautiful and timeless the venue was, how delicious the food was, and how unbeatable the setting was with the fall leaves, the bubbling of the Wissahickon Creek, and a flock of geese landing on the water behind our ceremony almost as if on cue. Kate was extremely accommodating of all of our requests, including moving the ceremony up 15 minutes the day before the wedding to ensure that we didn't lose the daylight. This place is unpretentious yet warmly elegant, and I am still hearing on a daily basis how perfect this venue was from our guests.

Everyone at the inn was amazing, especially Kate Harron event coordinator.

Valley green was amazing for our wedding. Kate is very coordinated and organized. The whole entire staff were friendly. Our guests had compliments for the staff, food, atmosphere. Valley Green Inn was able to give us our dream day (even if it did rain)!

we had the greatest rehearsal dinner at valley green inn. Staff are easy to reach with any questions and easy to work with. Beautiful centerpieces were provided. The salmon was amazing. The setting was picture perfect! Just remember if you are considering booking here - the patio has no air conditioning, but it's in the woods so it's cooler then it appears, and they have lots of fans.

I got married at the Valley Green Inn on 6/3/2011. My experience working withthem was amazing! Kate, the coordinator, was fabulous! She promptly answered all of my emails and was always friendly and understanding. The venue itself is beautiful! Everyone raved about the food and the scenery. Every single detail that I planned was executed by the staff perfectly!! They made sure that I had nothing to worry about on the day of the wedding and to me that was so important! I highly recommend using the Valley Green Inn!!

We had a wonderful wedding at The Valley Green Inn. It was a perfect combination of history and nature, which both my husband and I share common interest in. The wedding planner, Kate Harron, was first class. She has a lot of experience in weddings and it shines right through! They took care of everything for the reception from the table flowers to the cake. We held our ceremony on the lawn across from the inn for an additional fee. It worked out very well for our 100 guests. Kate also had a great list of recommended vendors that she has established a relationship with over many years. Even though there was a wedding in the morning before ours, the transition and attention paid to us was first rate. The food was delicious and all of our guests raved about what a wonderful wedding it was. If you are looking for something really special, interested in nature and having about 100 guests or less, this is the venue for you!

Checked this place out when trying to decide on wedding venues. Very nice, but a little too small (perfect for 80-100 people). The Creek runs right by the ceremony site - great food and good parking.

The Valley Green Inn was exactly what we were looking for in a wedding venue. We got engaged in Fairmount Park and instantly fell in love with the Inn the first time we walked by on the Wissahickon Creek trail. We didn't look at any other venues, and we were pleased with the prices and service all along the way. Kate, the Event Coordinator, is very easy to work with and excellent at her job. All of our family and friends raved about how perfect the location was for our October wedding and our photographer kept commenting that the site made his job very easy. You cannot go wrong with this venue.

We held our wedding of 100 guests at the Valley Green Inn in early October. I grew up riding my bike and running on the trail, and looked forward to celebrating our wedding there. The setting was absolutely spectacular - close to the Wissahickon Creek, lots of trees / fall foliage, etc. Kate and her staff are top notch - She managed every detail exceptionally, and everything went very smoothly throughout the day. Food was outstanding, and Kate coordinated our wedding cake through Bredenbeck's Bakery, which was also delicious. The surrounding area provides such a beautiful backdrop that we barely needed to decorate at all. I would definitely recommend the Valley Green Inn for anyone who is looking for a charming, cozy, natural setting for a wedding.

The Valley Green Inn is a beautiful venue to have a wedding and reception. We were lucky enough to hear about it from a very happy bride that had been married there and once we met Kate Harron, the Event Coordinator, we were sold.
We had 60 guests for our ceremony and brunch reception and everything was perfect. Kate is so organized, calm and pleasant that you don't have one moments worry during the planning process or event.
The setting in Fairmount Park is fantastic and the team at the Valley Green provide incredible food and service at a very reasonable price. So much is included in the package it makes it very easy. The cake is included and came from Bredenbeck's Bakery in Chestnut Hill. It is not surprising that the Valley Green would choose such a great bakery and we loved the appearance and taste of our cake.
No matter what time of year you choose to marry, check out the Valley Green Inn and the expertise of Kate Harron because both will exceed your expectations. My husband and I would not have changed a thing.

Kate Harron is the event planner for Valley Green, and she is on top of EVERYTHING! I felt completely comfortable knowing that my wedding and reception were in her hands, and everything was perfect, from the decor to the flowers to the food. All the little details and timing for each piece of the night were planned out just right. Valley Green is a beautiful, relaxed, and natural setting to have your wedding--we are so incredibly happy that we chose to celebrate there!
