I had the absolute worse experience of my life planning my wedding at Valley of the Eagles. In my opinion, they are extremely unorganized and have no idea what they are doing, as well as being very deceiving. The frustration began with our food... tasting. After driving several hours from our home in Michigan, my fiancé and I learned the venue had confused our menu and prepared the wrong items. This error was compounded by the fact that I am vegetarian and was not made aware of the mistake until after the food was being served. Additionally, at the first tasting without my permission, they informed me of a menu change. They decided to switch one of our hor d’oeuvres from sausage and cheese stuffed mushrooms to eggrolls. Considering the atmosphere and the cost for food, I do not view egg rolls as a classy wedding food in lieu of stuffed mushrooms – I was disappointed in this change. We originally scheduled our wedding to be in September 2020, but because of Covid, the construction on the venue was unable to be 100% completed by the time of our wedding. My husband and I both work in healthcare and had first-hand experience with Covid. When I asked what would happen if I rescheduled my wedding date, I was simply told that the venue would apply everything we paid for the wedding to the new date. Therefore, because of this information, the fact that the venue was still under construction, along with all the state orders/restrictions regarding Covid, we made the hard decision to postpone our wedding to June 2021. In September 2020, when we were supposed to be married, our seating area (which is about half of the venue) was STILL under construction. To my surprise, THE WEEK BEFORE the wedding, Janet (the owner) emailed me on a Saturday with a bill for over $1,000 in added fees, accumulated from postponing the wedding and new covid regulations. She also stated that if the total bill was not paid in full, by the following day (Sunday), they would cancel the wedding. Even though a lot of the venue is new construction, it started raining on my wedding day and the roof started leaking. The venue is nice, but their air conditioning is not up to par in my opinion, and simply cannot handle a large group of people on a hot day. The day of our wedding the biggest complaint was the heat inside of the venue. The drink of choice seemed to be water by a majority of our guests just to avoid dehydration. There are fans located in the venue and these fans were not even turned on, despite my husband asking numerous times to help with some air circulation. When my husband and I first checked out this venue we ate at their restaurant and were SO impressed by their food, but in the last year their quality of food has really gone downhill, in my opinion. The venue gave us an exceptionally long time gap between ceremony and reception and said they cannot serve food before this time because it will not be ready, but somehow when the time came to serve the food it was colder than the ambient air. During the wedding, we had an open bar for the wedding but the bartenders were unavailable several times. I saw guests reach behind the bar and grab a beer a couple times after waiting with no luck for service. The following day my mother went back to the venue to meet with Candace (wedding planner) to do a walkthrough to check for any damage to the property in order to get our deposit back, she waited for ~30 minutes and Candace was nowhere to be found.
