She was thorough in describing the process of trying on dresses, comforted the nerves I had about trying on dresses, and asked in detail about what I was looking for. as in extremely capable and professional hands the entire time - Shelly is an absolute pro through and through, she has an eye for dresses & details and a wealth of knowledge about the industry, and Vera, the in-house tailor, is a magician! The shop itself is pretty and clean, and boasts a collection of dresses that are varied in style, price range, and size (we love a size-inclusive bridal salon!). They also carry menswear and other, non-bridal dresses - my mom ended up finding the perfect mother of the bride gown there as well! We were so happy with Van Cleve - highly recommend!

Even when I had my favorite, but wasn't totally sure, she encouraged me to go sleep on it and go to another appointment, and then even was able to squeeze me in the next day when I wanted to try it on again. She made the process so easy and comfortable, which was a relief for someone who can be very indecisive about a lot of things! I expressed this to her and explained I wanted to try on some more dresses to be confident in my decision. Caroline was absolutely AMAZING. She made me feel so comfortable, she pulled gorgeous dresses for me, she gave honest and helpful input on each dress and how it looked on my body. I ended up choosing the dress I went there with the intent to try on again. She took her time, showed an interest in my relationship, wedding, and wanted me to feel beautiful and confident with my choice on my big day. She made me feel confident in their ability to alter my dress perfectly and was so knowledgeable about the entire process. At one point she walked in with the most gorgeous Veil for my dress that I fell in love instantly. She was a gift from god because I needed her kindness and warmth to say yes to my dress. I couldn’t be happier with my experience and would recommend this store and Caroline to everyone I know! 10/10 experience.

stunned by the amount of dresses they had. When Shelly pulled is into our private room she immediately made me feel at ease and asked me what I was looking for and she had some concerns with the dress I tried on yesterday. She told me she had no filter and wanted me to be happy. Also she had stalked my Instagram and within two minutes of talking to me she already could tell my personality. when we went to look at the dresses she had specific ones she pulled for me. And when I liked one, I asked her opinion. She was honest and said your boobs would be out in that dress or no I don’t think it’s a good fit for you because of blah blah blah. We started out with 8 dresses and she put me in one she pulled to start. She wanted me to compare it to the one I had tried on yesterday. When I tried on this dress it was perfect. I said well I love this one way more than yesterday. My mom cried and I cried. I tried on the others and she thought one would give it a run for it’s money but it didn’t. I eventually said yes to the dress and it was the most amazing experience ever! It felt like I was talking to a friend and someone who understood me and my personality!!! I highly recommend going there!!

ding my appointment. The stylist's name that I worked with was Shelly. She was phenomenal. From the start she listened and focused on me (which was important because I had several guests join me at the appointment and other people's opinions can overshadow the bride's sometimes). I did not know the particular style/dress that I wanted, but knew exactly what I wanted to avoid and almost immediately Shelly had an idea of what direction we were headed. I think I tried on a total of 5 dresses (1 was appropriately out of my comfort zone, and 4 were fit what I had described to her at the start of the appointment). Ultimately I went with one of the dresses that I tried on and was so excited (plus it had pockets so that was a fun surprise!). I chose to have alterations made in-house and am so glad that I did. Valentina made me feel comfortable and was also very knowledgable. Overall, Van Cleve was wonderful - I have and will continue to recommend the shop for future brides! P.S. The non-bridal, formalwear section has some of the most beautiful dresses and jumpsuits which would be great for future formal events or MOB.

when I found Van Cleve. I sent my appointment request in and explained that I’m a plus sized bride who is very insecure about my size and this would be my first time trying any dresses on and I didn’t know where to start. Almost immediately I got a call back from the shop, it was a consultant named Caroline. She left me a message and when listening to it I knew I wanted her to be my bridal consultant. My first time there I only brought my best friend and she made us feel so special. She was just the nicest person I’ve ever met and really understood what I was looking for in a dress. I found “the one” on my first appointment! I didn’t have my sisters or step mom with me so I came back a few weeks later and we tried on other dresses and saved the one I loved for later. Once I was back in that dress I knew I wanted it as mine! I said yes to my dress with my sisters, step mom and best friend by my side! year or so later I had an idea of the gown I loved and had previously tried on elsewhere, but came to VC for Martina Liana trunk show to see if I could top it. Megan was so kind and helpful in guiding me as I narrowed down, I felt so secure in knowing I was making the right choice! Even though there were so many exquisite dresses I knew it was the one. They say it is a feeling, that you just know, and no denying it, every time I had this dress on, I only thought of my man! They were so wonderful, I called about a million times asking for updates on when it would come in (kept hearing about all sorts of industries having production issues, and shipping issues, such a scary time, luckily I bought way in advance) and the girls were sooo patient and kind. Amazingly, my gown actually came EARLY! I was so pleased! They were fabulous, such a beautiful store, gorgeous gown collection and such considerate employees. Thank you for all of your help VC!!

Very disappointed in my experience with Van Cleve. I purchased my (very expensive) wedding dress from Van Cleve and additional buttons were needed. They charged my card and let me know they would order them from the dress designer and that they...

would arrive in 10-12 weeks. Over 14 weeks later (and the week of my wedding), they called to let me know the buttons had finally arrived. By this time, I already had my seamstress add buttons since we were down to the wire - and that I no longer needed them. Van Cleve refused to refund me the $4 spent on buttons. They took no accountability for the buttons arriving late and told me their "no refund" policy stands. When I spent thousands of dollars on a dress, you'd expect a better customer service experience. Really unfortunate and an example of how not to run a business. Couldn't recommend less. Brides - go somewhere else.

certainly were not, and are not, happy with the delay in receiving them from the designer, please know that. Due to the delay in receipt we were happy to offer the opportunity to sew the buttons on to your dress for you. Today we learned that you were no longer in need of the buttons as your seamstress was able to sew some on for you which we are very appreciative of. We do have to take any refund requests to owner ship as team members do not have the ability to offer or provide a refund without approval. It is certainly not because we do not care about our clients, because we do. I know it was important for you to see your dress both with and without the attached belt that came on your dress, and you and your stylist worked together to to explore both options, as well as to determine if extra lace would be needed to fill in any potential negative spaces once the belt was removed. It was determined that additional lace was not needed, but that additional buttons would be ordered to replace existing buttons to give a more cohesive look to the back of your gown. We love to give our clients the personal attention they deserve, because we know your gown is an important part of your big day. I was hopeful we provided a well rounded experience. I absolutely understand and appreciate wanting to feel settled and excited, especially about your wedding dress, as your big day approaches; therefore, I had approached the designer’s team this week about what we could do together to help make up for the delivery delay with the buttons. They agreed that providing you with a VISA gift card above the cost of the buttons would be more appropriate than a $4 refund check. It was my understanding that you were in touch with one of my teammates in particular over the last two weeks, she was not in today, so I certainly recognize that our communication today was not ideal. That was my mistake for not communicating with all my teammates in the event that they spoke with you, and I sincerely apologize. I am always hopeful we will do right by our clients and today I let you down. It was certainly never my intention, but I am hopeful that you will accept my apology and we can obtain your address so that we can send the aforementioned gift card to you. The day before my appointment she called me to discuss my vision for my dress, what I liked and didn't like, and came prepared to the appointment with multiple options. She ended up finding me a beautiful Pronovias dress that I fell in love with. I am a very indecisive person but Caroline and the rest of the Van Cleve staff made the process stress free and their beautiful selection made it easy for me to find my dream dress. My dress came in earlier than anticipated, and they were very communicative throughout the entire process. I would also highly recommend using them for alterations. After "shredding for the wedding" I ended up needing to take the dress in a few sizes and it fit like a glove while preserving the shape and design of the dress. Thank you, Van Cleve!

As someone who tends to be on the curvier side, I so appreciated someone who really helped me find a dress that not only fit my body, but completely complimented my figure. My mom, mother in law and friends all had a great experience shopping with me and all felt engaged throughout the process, selecting dresses they thought might look good too. I ultimately walked away with a dress after the appointment and I am so excited to see it when it arrives in a few months. All in all, I would highly recommend both Van Cleves and Shelly.

ad my heart set on a dress from a designer that they didn’t carry but Nancy delivered with helping me find a dress that exceeded all my expectations!!!!! Once I said yes to my dress, Nancy and Ashley made the process seamless with measurements and ordering —they also were fantastic as we put wedding planning on hold and postponed a year. Fast forward 21 months after my appointment, my first dress fitting arrived and it was perfect. Valentina is an extremely talented seamstress and my fit and bustle were perfect. The consultant showed me exactly what I wanted, had incredible recommendations that I ended up loving!! They were conscious of my budget and didn’t show me anything over budget without warning. Their wide selection of styles and designers gave me so many options!!! They also had standard sample sizes and plus sizes so I felt incredibly confident knowing in the dress I chose would look good in my specific size. I went to another bridal salon in the area and it couldn’t compete with the level of elegance, knowledgeable consultants and variety of dresses. Truly amazing experience. Can’t wait to take my Mom and FMIL there for their dresses!!!

She was so welcoming from the moment we stepped inside the front door. She took time to meet my mom & sister and to ask me a few more questions before shopping around. Once we walked into the room with all the dresses, there was a dress on a mannequin that caught my eye. Nancy informed me she thought I would like that dress but thought the hanger didn’t do it justice, so she displayed it just for me. (Only then to take it off so I could try it on). She helped me in & out of several dresses, pinning them all so I could really envision how they would fit when in my correct size. She was so fun, yet honest. She was a calming presence & truly helped me make a decision (something I was not so successful at in previous shops). When I ultimately “said yes to the dress” Nancy made sure to make that moment a truly special one. Thank you Nancy & Van Cleve!! ♥️

3rd store, Van Cleve. I should’ve known it would be a completely different experience the moment our bridal consultant, Shelly, texted me the day before. She didn’t just ask for my Pinterest page – she wanted to know how I wanted to feel, what I was thinking, and even let me send her pictures of the dresses I liked on my body from the other stores. She met us at the door and right away, I knew I wasn’t dealing with someone who wanted to just pull dresses for me, she was truly a magician at her craft and wanted to do everything to make sure this experience was as magical as it could be with current restrictions still in place. She put me in a dress that I never would have pulled for myself but I put it on and it was absolute magic….myself, my mom, and my sister all cried almost immediately. She helped me figure out what tweaks were possible to make the dress even more perfect for my body. Somehow after meeting Shelly, I knew that she would work her magic to find me “the dress” and to overcome my self-confidence issues to feel as beautiful as I always hoped I would. The experience at Van Cleve was truly a dream come true and I’m already counting down the days until I can try my dress on again!!!

would find a dress with enough time. I also had a strict budget for my dress because I had already spent so much on my original wedding plans before we made all of our changes for COVID-19. I reached out to seven different wedding dress stores in Pennsylvania and New Jersey to see if any stores had any sample gowns that I could purchase within time and have altered in time. Out of all of the stores that I contacted, Van Cleve was by far the most understanding and willing to work with me. I had a particular dress in mind, and they happened to have a sample of that dress in my size. Because of my situation, they were willing to sell me the sample for almost half off! I could not believe it. I was able to quickly schedule an appointment to try on the dress. My consultant, Nancy, pulled a few other dresses for me to try on, and she was very mindful of my limited amount of time and my budget. In the end, I loved the dress I had inquired about more than the others. I decided to take a couple of days to decide if I wanted to buy that dress, and Nancy was very understanding about this. She said she would let me know if anyone else wanted to purchase that gown, and thankfully it remained available until I made my decision. I live about an hour away from the store, but I was able to conveniently pay for my dress with my credit card over the phone. I had my dress altered at Van Cleve by one of their seamstresses, Vera. She did a fantastic job, and she was able to complete all of the alterations with plenty of time before my wedding. She also gave me recommendations on how to minimize static on my dress and veil. When it came to the big day, my dress fit perfectly, and it looked absolutely gorgeous. I have never felt more beautiful than I did on my wedding day. I have received so many compliments on my wedding dress, and none of it would have been possible if it weren't for the wonderful staff at Van Cleve. I highly recommend trusting Van Cleve for all of your bridal needs!

saw Van Cleve was having a trunk show for my favorite designer, so I called and was instantly connected with Shelly. She recognized my A-type nature (when it came to finding the perfect dress) and insisted on being my person throughout the process. Before I arrived, she pulled all the dresses I wanted to try ahead of time (there were a lot), laid out how the appointment would go, then helped me weigh pros and cons with each dress with incredible patience. She knew what she was doing and pulled some extra options that really flattered my frame but ultimately helped me choose the dress I loved from the start. Shelly understood I needed someone to show me everything before I could come to that conclusion. She even pulled thoughtful veil options with my top two dresses so I could see the full picture before deciding. I feel really confident with my decision and totally in part to her! The entire staff there is incredibly friendly, professional and know what they're doing. I will 100% come back for other formal events and recommend them to everyone looking for the perfect dress!
