Vanity Salon was started by Kim Coleman. Kim has been a stylist in Mount Pleasant since 2005. She has become one of the top wedding stylists in Charleston, and her work has been published in magazines such as People, More, Charleston Weddings, and many more. Kim is now using her love of hair and makeup to create Vanity Salon. Collectively, as a salon, Vanity has done many photo shoots for local and national magazines and campaigns. Working with local celebrities as well as bigger ones is also a part of Vanity’s clientele, which they are extremely proud of.

We loved Kyli and Janet at Vanity Salon and my bridesmaids and I have never felt more beautiful! Thank you so much for making our wedding day feel that much more special. We did a combination of hair, traditional makeup, and airbrush and not only were they super accommodating and professional for 11 people, but they also were so kind and friendly, even sharing some tips and tricks! I wanted something super natural that would last all day and they delivered. Would definitely recommend them for your wedding day!

I was nervous by some of these reviews because of the communication issue. We booked them almost a year out, and they communicated quickly at the start. I will say communication was a little tough emailing but was able to call to confirm we were still on for the day and even add a few people to the plan for the wedding day. I was also able to talk with Janet who helped me feel comfortable prior to even meeting her! I did my trial and hair and makeup with her, and she was AMAZING! We also had Hannah did all the bridesmaids and mother’s makeup who also did an AWESOME job! We had 9 girls doing hair and makeup, and they were able to get everyone done with plenty of time and everyone loved it! I wish I lived closer to have my hair done by them more often! I would definitely recommend them!!

I can't begin to say enough about the wedding team at Vanity Salon. They traveled an hour and a half to my venue in Pineland, SC, while they are based in Mount Pleasant, SC. Kim, Kristen, Michele, and Holly all arrived on time and worked their magic. They were so patient with my bridesmaid and my now MIL who decided she wanted to change her look the day of my wedding. Make up and hair looked great. So happy and would use them again for just about any event.

My hair does not hold curl well. For my bridal trial, Janet did a phenomenal job using all the tools she had to get my hair to hold! It did which was amazing and I felt prepared for our wedding day! But when the hair and makeup artists showed up, Janet was unable to attend and when another artist did my hair it fell within the hour which was extremely disappointing. The makeup was done poorly and my bridesmaids actually ended up redoing their makeup after the artists left. It was an expensive service for a majority of the bridal party to be disappointed in the quality.

They did really amazing on my hair and make up I choose to do in salon for the price and that is very chaotic but they have a back room which is very nice. Extremely accommodating. I loved loved loved Janet she did amazing. When I voiced concerns about my girls they were fixed promptly and very gracefully. They did not book enough time for us as they had to rush at the end. My girls have very long and thick hair. I had some stylist who I loved how they did hair and/or make up and others I didn't care for but it all still look okay and held up so I can't complain! My hair and makeup lasted beautifully throughout the whole day I could not have been happier about the way I looked. Thank you so much Janet!

The Full Package! Booking Vanity Salon and working with Kim, Holly, and Kristen was the easiest part of the wedding process. Not only was I able to get a soft glow tan but my makeup was flawless along with my hair. I was able to arrange for my mother and mother-in-law to also have their hair and makeup done. The looks were soft and natural but also bold enough to stand out in photos and remain on throughout the day. I would highly recommend using Vanity Salon for all bridal needs.

I had a really hard time finding the right salon for my wedding. I called numerous salons that told me that to send photos and they would create the bridal look on the day of my wedding. Kim and her team were the only ones who made time to preview and perfect the look. I would recommend this salon to any bride and bridal party. They exceeded what I was looking for!

Looking for a person to do not only my hair but my bridesmaid's hair was not easy. The cost was extravagant or there was no "team" to do everyone's hair and makeup at the same time. Most vendors were only interested booking one person at a time. Vanity Salon had a "team" of wedding experts ready to go. It was really easy to set up a time for me to be ready with my bridesmaids and have everyone ready to go ON TIME! I was super nervous, but girls made me laugh and I was able to loosen up to see my bridal beauty. Would recommend for any priority event!

I do not recommend this salon for wedding events. The communication was 0 to none. It would take up to 6 days for a response to be given through email. I called several times to try to discuss it over the phone to be more efficient and they would say they will get back to me through email. After waiting more than a week for a response I would call the salon and they would not answer. I truly felt at a lost with them and I hope they give better service to other people.

Working with Kim was such a great experience! Things got chaotic the last few weeks leading up to the event because of COVID. Multiple of my bridesmaids couldn’t make it. She was so understanding. She came and did hair/makeup for me, my mom and two of my bridesmaid. My mom and bridesmaids looked gorgeous. I felt absolutely beautiful. Every woman deserves to feel stunning on her wedding day, and Kim is the best at making this happen.

I highly recommend Vanity Salon for your wedding hair and makeup needs! After sharing some photos for inspiration, Kim, Janet, and Joel absolutely nailed the look I was going for. Not only that, but even after shedding some happy tears during the ceremony and dancing the night away, my hair and makeup stayed picture perfect (which is quite the feat considering that I have fine hair and oily skin). It's also worth mentioning that Vanity Salon offers on-site services! My bridal party and I were able to get our hair and makeup done at the wedding venue, which made for a more relaxing afternoon. Overall, Vanity Salon's services are top notch and they made getting ready an enjoyable experience!

I hired Vanity for my wedding hair and makeup, and it is the one vendor that I wish I did differently. Janet was great and a life saver, but besides her I was very unimpressed with the services. I did a hair and makeup trial a few months before - Hannah did my makeup (which I liked) and Janet did my hair. On the day of the wedding they didn't send Hannah and had her working at the salon which I thought was strange. Why would the person who did my makeup trial not do my makeup for the wedding? Kim did hair and makeup for a couple of my bridesmaids and then quickly rushed out. Both bridesmaids then had to have Janet fix their hair and makeup because Kim didn't listen at all to what they wanted. Benny was one of the people they sent to do hair, and it seemed like he was somewhat new. All he knew how to do was curl hair so he would curl and then Lee would do the styling, which would have been fine except he took FOREVER to curl each person's hair. My hair came out fine, but it wasn't what I showed for a picture. Everyone who wanted loose curls got crimped hair. All of my bridesmaids commented on how unprofessional the services were. Again, Janet was the exception to all of this and was amazing and was there to fix everyone's hair and makeup to get them more what they wanted. She also stayed on site for extra time to do touch ups after our first look before the ceremony. If you're looking for more glam makeup, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

She was so compassionate, accommodating, and personable. Not one of us in the bridal party were from the area so we were quite nervous but she made the start of our morning getting ready so easy.

I would 10/10 recommend hiring Vanity Salon for your wedding party hair and make-up. As the bride I was so blown away. I wasn't super pumped about my trial run so I was a bit nervous on the day of my wedding, but they have hired new people, specifically a new make-up artist and she was incredible. I absolutely LOVED my hair and make-up on my wedding day, and so did my entire bridal party. I showed pictures and they made the look come to life. We were very impressed. I had to reschedule my wedding twice due to Covid, and they were so flexible and great about working with me! If you are getting married in Charleston I would 100% give them a call!

Vanity Salon truly made me feel like a princess! I had a trial before the wedding day which I absolutely loved! Between the trial and the wedding day I changed my mind. (Yes I was one of those Brides that changed their mind on the Wedding Day) They were flexible and made sure that my new idea was everything I wanted! Definitely the best team ever! Vanity was so accommodating through all of our wedding changes. Our wedding was supposed to occur during the pandemic shutdown. Thankfully the ladies at Vanity were willing to work with us through all the changes. We are so thankful that we used them. I highly recommend this team of professionals. Poor communication prior to hair and makeup trial. For the wedding, we attempted to change the time for them to come, I emailed and called multiple times trying to clarify what time they would be there but did not get a response. On the wedding day, the hair and makeup artists arrived and were very upset that we weren't ready (Even though they never told us when they would come). They tried to say they didn't have time to do the mother of the brides makeup. The bride had to get upset with them and discuss poor communication on wedding day in order for them to drop the attitude and do the makeup. They were very sweet after the bride confronted them but it was too late. They need better administrative staffing. Actual services, however, were good.

I was disappointed after seeing amazing reviews as I did not have the same experience of other brides. My coordinator and I sent the timeline to the salon multiple times to make sure it would work for everyone, however, when I showed up as per my timeline, Kim had left for another wedding. I felt my trial run was a waste and would have arranged to come earlier had I been told this information. 4 of the hairstyles fell out after the ceremony so I unfortunately would not recommend to a friend.

She did a beautiful job on my makeup and did it very quickly because she’s so good at what she does. Same with my hair. This salon would be great if the management would do better with following up and not only talk to you involving money. If you are going for Minnie, you will have a great experience as she did my wedding hair and make up. Be weary of anything else. My experience other than with my stylist was terrible. Everyone loved their hair and makeup! I got the airbrush makeup and absolutely loved it! Definitely recommend spending a little extra to get that done. They were very knowledgeable with the different styles my bridesmaids wanted. They came out to the house and easily set up their stations. My only complaint was that one of the hair dressers was extremely unpleasant. She had a nasty look on her face and barely talked. However, her work was good.

We very much enjoyed working with Vanity Salon. We had 6 girls getting hair and makeup done and they brought 2 people to work on us! They worked quickly but efficiently. I loved my hair that Kim styled and the airbrush makeup makes you look flawless! The only thing I suggest is that for brides who are paying for your bridal party to get hair/makeup make sure you tell them what type of makeup you want everyone to get. My stepmom footed the bill, but I do know that they offered airbrush to each girl as they got their makeup done and I'm unsure if that costed more or was the same price as traditional makeup! Hopefully it was the same price, but if not they should verify with the person paying if it's okay to offer a different option that what was previously discussed via email as far as what everyone was getting. This is just a tip for future brides but definitely doesn't detract their 5 star review! They were wonderful to work with and I would use them again in a heartbeat! My makeup even held up all night even though I sweated a LOT from the dancing and humidity! I highly recommend these ladies!

I am so delighted we found Vanity for our wedding day hair and makeup! Of all the professional traveling artists in Charleston, they were among the most affordable AND impressive. I had a great trial with Teresa and Bailey at the Mt. Pleasant salon, and an even better day with them and Minnie on our wedding. We had 7 bridesmaids with a variety of hair textures and lengths and Minnie and Teresa rocked them all. As someone with fairly small, hooded eyes who doesn't wear much makeup, I was really nervous about wedding makeup, but Bailey did a WONDERFUL job of creating a natural but glam look that lasted all night. On top of that, the three ladies did great with the timing of the day and getting through so many of us :). I cannot recommend Vanity enough!

Very pleased with Vanity Salon’s wedding services! From the spray tan I got prior to the wedding, to the on-site hair and makeup services the day of the wedding, everything was great! The pricing is also reasonable. Also, I planned my Charleston wedding from 900 miles away but it was easy to coordinate everything via email. I honestly felt so incredibly beautiful thanks to Rhonda! She did everything exactly as I wanted and when I didn’t know, she knew what to do and did it perfectly. My girls and mother in law looked and felt absolutely amazing.. that’s all I could ask for! Even stayed in place after all the crying and sweating too 👍🏻 and to say they are accommodating is a understatement.. they were able to work some magic to get us ready earlier than expected and I could not be more grateful for that.

I was lucky enough to book my bridesmaids, MOB, MOG, and my hair and make-up with Vanity Salon in West Ashley. Liz (Elizabeth) was great to work with. She did both my trial run and day of look. I had a few changes from my trial for the day of and was worried that I would hurt her feelings but she took my ideas with grace and made me feel comfortable. I loved the final look and felt so beautiful. I only scheduled make-up for the rest of my entourage but they were able to accommodate the last minute changes when the ladies wanted to get their hair done as well, and they all looked beautiful as well. They were affordable and quick to respond to emails and phone calls.

The girls from vanity salon did on-site hair and make-up for me and my bridal party. They were amazing! They showed up on time and worked efficiently. They even re-worked one of my bridesmaid's hair when she wasn't completely happy with it. Chelsea did my hair, and I got so many compliments on it at the wedding (thanks so much Chelsea!). This salon is a great value for the money and I would absolutely recommend them for bridal services.

I was so beyond pleased with Vanity Salon. I planned a destination wedding and my wedding planner recommended them and right from the start they were great. Ashley was always quick with her email responses any time I had a question or a change. I did a few trials with Kristen and always left there feeling beautiful. Kristen and Kim came the morning of my wedding to do hair and makeup for 11 women. Every single one of my bridesmaids and MOB and MOG was so pleased with the results and them being able to mold between everyone's different wants. My Matron of Honor even stating that in the numerous weddings she has been a part of she has never been so in love with a hair style as she was the day of my wedding. It's those little things that really start a morning off right and continued into the night. I had asked Kristen to pin my hair loosely so that a few curls would fall out by the end of the night and that is exactly how it played out. I felt absolutely beautiful on the day of my wedding and I couldn't have been happier!

Liz and Shauna did a great job with our hair and makeup for my wedding day. They were on time and extremely efficient. I loved that they actually came to the venue to do our hair/makeup. It was awesome to relax in our bridal suite, have lunch, then just get our hair and makeup done right there. There can be so many nerves or last minute things to worry about, and being able to relax right at the venue and get our hair/make-up done took away any anxiety of not knowing what was going on at the venue without us there. Everyone loved their hair/makeup and we all got tons of compliments. The makeup they did for each girl was perfect and was not too over the top or too simple. We all just looked like even better versions of our own selves. Everyone’s hair stayed up and looking great the entire night, as well as all of our makeup. I had a trial run with Liz ahead of time and I loved that she tried multiple things and was not afraid to suggest ideas of what would look best. I ended up changing the hairstyle that we practiced with but from working on my hair and sending her pictures of the new style, she was able to do my final style perfectly. I loved working with both of these women on the day of my wedding and totally recommend them to anyone getting married.

Korissa was a pleasure to work with for my big day! Both the practice session and the actual day of services were amazing. I was an out of town bride and this salon put my worries at ease that I would look my best on my big day. The up do she did for my hair was perfect for the humid Charleston weather and the air brush makeup was a dream! I looked amazing without looking overdone. Two of my bridal party also had services with other members of their staff. They all looked great and we all felt welcomed and pampered for the event. I recommend this place hands down. They know what they are doing and they take care of you! Ashley on their email scheduling was amazing and responsive! Thanks for making my day even better! Highly recommend!

From my trial to actual wedding day, Vanity Salon was always putting me first. Being an out of town bride, they established open communication throughout the whole process. During my trial, Kim talked me out of a half-up to a low-side up-do, and thank goodness she did! On the day of, my hair stayed put and looked gorgeous throughout the entire event! My hair and make up withheld heat, then rain (Yes, rain!), glow stick crowns, veil, and dancing for about 3 hours straight. My airbrush makeup was beautiful! Kim took my inspiration of light pinks and glow then replicated it through airbrush application. I highly suggest Brides getting airbrush! It was a lifesaver. I also went for fake eyelashes since I was not having a smokey eye done, and it added a dramatic effect without going over board. Vanity Salon also accommodated my bridesmaids and mother in law. There was no pressure in meeting a quota of bridesmaids or money amount (Example. there was no $400 minimum or at least 6 applications). There was known of that, so my bridal party did not feel pressured for everyone to get something done. The girls that didn't get hair or makeup done professionally did regret not going to Vanity Salon. They were the perfect beauty vendor for our wedding!

Vanity Salon is my favorite salon, and I live in NYC! One of my best friends (and bridesmaids!) is a stylist there, so I would have never gone anywhere else, but my review isn't completely biased :) It's true that I used Vanity because of Kristen Litchfield, but I have seen the salon in action and all of the women are great. I've lived in NYC for 10 years and have seriously never found a salon I like better than Vanity. Kristen did my color, styling (with extensions!), and makeup. She did a great job and I have never felt more beautiful. Another one of my bridesmaids got married 2 months before me in Charleston as well. Based solely on reviews she hired Vanity to do her and her bridesmaids makeup. She lives in Vegas and doesn't know Kristen! It was just such a cool coincidence, and such a fun experience. The girls come to your hotel, or wherever you're getting ready, they're on time, they're professional, they look great! They have different options for every budget. Korissa did my makeup for my friend's wedding and it was stunning. I highly recommend checking them out...you won't be disappointed!

Vanity Salon was wonderful to work with for our wedding. Kim and Ashley were incredibly flexible helping me coordinate everything. Shauna was wonderful handling both my trials as well as the day-of. My hair stayed together beautifully, despite the heavy winds during our outdoor ceremony. I was so happy they convinced me to do airbrush makeup – it felt light and really stayed in place all night. The stylists traveled to Wild Dunes to do the hair/makeup of my wedding party and special guests. Everyone was so happy with how their hair turned out, and it was such a fun and relaxing day for all of us.

I absolutely loved my hair and makeup for my wedding. The team did a fantastic job and my hair looked exactly like how it was done during the trial. The girls even stayed later so I could get touched up after our pictures downtown and before the ceremony. Everyone was so professional and we had a great time. Vanity salon did a great job on both my makeup and hair, and it was so much fun getting ready with all of them.
