Our wedding was an absolute dream! We couldn't have asked for a better venue experience. Shirley and Cofield were truly there for my husband and I throughout the whole process. The kindness and care that they showed us is something that we will never forget. I could not recommend this the gorgeous venue enough!
I got married here on Sept. 30th, 2017 and could not have been happier with the venue, Mrs. Shirley and her husband Cofield. They are both two of the sweetest people I have ever worked with. Mrs. Shirley treated me like family and will always have a special place in my heart for helping me through the entire wedding process and helped make our day truly magical! Everything was smooth and absolutely beautiful. Mrs. Shirley really took care of me and handled any little thing that could have gone wrong. The venue is absolutely stunning and the space for the Bride and Bridesmaids to get ready upstairs is absolutely perfect. I had 8 bridesmaids and we all had plenty of room to spread out. I haven't seen my professional pictures yet but I just know they are going to be gorgeous. I also did my bridal shoot at the venue and they were amazing with the house and the ceremony area. I could go on and on raving about this place...it will always feel a little bit like home to me. <3
My husband and I were married at Victorian Crow's Nest 4 years ago, and we couldn't have asked for anything more! Shirley made sure that our special day was stress-free and perfect! She recommended wonderful vendors and truly made sure we had the best day of our lives. I cannot thank Shirley and Cofield enough for their attention to detail and hard work to make each event they host so amazing.
I could not have asked for a better venue to host my wedding. Everything about this Home and property are absolutely stunning, and Shirley made sure that everything was done to the T and in accordance to what my Husband and I wanted. Even on our first visit we were made to feel right at home and even though our wedding has now passed, my family and I have made life long friends with the owners of this beautiful venue.
My daughter, Katelyn’s wedding was everything she dreamed it would be. Victorian Crow’s Nest was the perfect venue from the outdoor covered wedding gazebo to the beautiful reception room to the wonderful owners Shirley and Cofield. Everything was beautiful. Shirley was a pleasure to work with and made planning easy. She went above and beyond in making sure Katelyn’s & Zach’s wedding day would be perfect. We could not have chosen a more perfect and beautiful venue
My husband and I were married there 6 years ago! If we could do it all over again. We would. People told us it was the prettiest wedding they had been too. Shirley is amazing and makes sure that you are happy in every way!!! The food was so important to my husband. Delicious!!! Every single thing. Don’t hesitate! Amazing venue!
Victorian Crow's Nest is the perfect location for your dream wedding. My husband and I had the perfect day, thanks to Shirley. They have an outdoor, covered gazebo for your wedding ceremony and a beautiful indoor banquet hall for your reception. We absolutely love Victorian Crow's Nest! It is a beautiful venue. Everything went so smoothly. I highly recommend Victorian Crow's Nest for your wedding. You will not be disappointed!
Wonderful, very helpful owners and staff!!! Beautiful location and atmosphere! My wedding here was everything I had dreamed of! Shirley and Cofield are incredible professionals that will walk you through everything you need/want out of your special day! So blessed to have found the Victorian Crow's Nest and it's family!!
My husband Todd and I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful venue to have our amazing Oct wedding. Shirley, Lynn and ALL the staff were just wonderful and pleasant to work with. From our first visit to the last day we picked up our remaining items we couldn't have been happier. Shirley and the VCN staff truly cared about us and our happiness on our special day the VCN went the extra mile to accommodate many of our specific request. All our guest continue to complement the beautiful place and wonderful food. The Lord surely didn't only bless our union but lead us to a wonderful venue for our wedding.
Where can I even start?
We went to Victorian Crow’s Nest to enquire because we always thought it was a beautiful setting for a wedding, but what sold us on VCN was its owner Shirley Hilburn. She is one of the last true southern belles. She is the most sincere women I’ve ever met. She is there for you from start to finish. We actually fell in love with her & are missing her now that the wedding is over. She was very helpful with our search of vendors; her talent & eye for detail allowed us to simply bring pictures of what we had in mind for bouquets/centerpieces & she matched it perfectly. She was always quick to respond to e-mails & even notified me when going away for a few days so that I would call vs. e-mail if I needed her. She made everything go smoothly on the big day after running around like crazy all day. We have had tons of guests tell us it was the most beautiful weddings they have ever attended. Her husband Cofield is awesome; her Chef fantastic & her entire staff @ VCN were professional & very friendly. Our daughter was able to have a “Princess Wedding” without us needing a King’s wallet, and we would never have pulled that off without Shirley!! My daughter, as well as my husband & I, will never forget this incredible woman.
I attended a wedding here this past weekend and it was absolutely beautiful!! The house and grounds are so picturesque. The event was well organized and ran flawlessly. The food was delicious, DJ was energetic, flowers were gorgeous. I would highly recommend the venue as well as the wedding coordinator (who recommended the DJ, flowers, etc). It was a perfect!
my wife is hard on herself by expecting perfection in anything she goes at. Our only daughter getting married, I knew she would stress herself to the max. Thanks to Shirley Hilburn @ VCN, things went wonderfully. Couldn't be a more genuine woman! Thank you to her - her husband Cofield & all VCN staff for everything!!
My fiancé and I were going to have our wedding at the Victorian Crow’s Nest next Spring. When we first met with Shirley, the proprietor of the venue, she made many promises to convince us to book with her. She said she would help plan and coordinate the wedding for a $500 fee, that is non-negotiable and included on the contract. After finding out that she required a $3,000 deposit to book the venue, we hesitated because we didn’t have the money at the time and we’re both paying for the wedding ourselves. She said it was fine to pay in increments until we meet the $3,000 and would only ask for $1,000 now to book the date. We were comfortable with that amount so we decided to sign the contract. When I met with her to submit my deposit, she ended up double-booking my appointment and made me wait in her kitchen for an hour to look at wedding invitations that I do not need a year in advance.
A couple months after we booked the venue, my mom asked that we get married in a church because she is very traditional and didn’t feel comfortable having the ceremony at the venue. After finding out that our church was booked for that date, I called Shirley immediately after to change the date so we can have our ceremony in church and still have our reception at her venue. I called repeatedly and left multiple voicemails and I didn’t hear back. When she finally picked up a week after, she said she was on vacation. I thought it was very unprofessional to go on vacation and not notify her clients or check her voicemails while she was away. At this point, I didn’t want to deal with Shirley anymore. She was unresponsive and very rude when we talked on the phone. I told her I am going to have our wedding at a church in FL where we both grew up and asked nicely if we could have our deposit back, given that we gave her over 10 months’ notice. She replied rudely “NOT A CHANCE” and proceeded to say that she “had a feeling” that we were going to cancel so she should have collected the full deposit. A wedding coordinator is supposed to help you plan and be excited for your wedding, not someone that will doubt your marriage and wants to collect $3,000 to do nothing.
Shirley also claimed that she is booking through 2016 so why would it be so hard to fill our date with over 10 months’ notice? Also, if that many people are having their wedding at her venue, why is there only 3 reviews on the internet and the last one was posted in July 2013? Either her venue is not as popular as she claims it is or the brides were not happy enough with her services to write a review.
Not having my wedding at Victorian Crow’s Nest was the BEST decision my fiancé and I have made throughout this entire planning process. Put it this way, we’re paying less to have our wedding at a 4 acre private beach house with 2 nights, 3 days accommodations for our guests. This includes fresh catered food, beverages, tables & linens, decorations, DJ, photographer, officiate, etc. With the same amount, that would’ve only covered the food at Shirley’s venue. Not to mention her food was stale and very salty when we went for our tasting. The ingredients were very poor and left a horrible aftertaste.
Planning your wedding is very stressful and financially draining. Don’t make the same mistake I made and look somewhere else! You could pay a fraction of the price for bigger and better things at other venues.
*Please note I was required to give this venue one star because I was forced to.
My husband and I just want to thank the Victorian Crow's Nest again for such an absolutely stunning and perfect wedding! Our guests cannot stop talking about how beautiful everything was, how delicious the food was, and how much fun they had! Shirley and Cofield are kind and generous people who make the wedding planning a breeze. Shirley goes above and beyond to make your special day even better than you imagined! She pays attention to every detail and does not miss a thing. I could not imagine a more beautiful and charming venue. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a wonderful wedding!
