The Crystal Ballroom is a gorgeous room to have your wedding ceremony and/or reception. We were having both at the Village Inn, and were very excited for our wedding day. Lana was extremely helpful, up until we paid. She was okay after that. I felt like she was annoyed by our requests, but that is a matter of opinion. We did have to ask twice for some things. When we arrived the day before to do some setup we were very displeased to find that there was a terrible musty smell!! There had apparently been water damage... but it took forever for it to get cleaned and then it still smelled like mold!! We had to buy our own air fresheners to help it out. I was also unhappy that my up lighting was turned on BEFORE the ceremony, but I had requested it be turned on just before the reception so that the room would look different when our guests came back in. Overall the wedding was gorgeous, and I was very happy with the place settings and the food. Definitely the highlight!! Their catering is top notch! It was still a beautiful day- the best day of my life- and there are always some hang ups when you are planning such a large event.
The stress of wedding and reception planning, hotel rooms, menu, and many other items that come with a celebration were put to ease with the help of Lana Schlotfeldt and the Village Inn Event Center! Both Lana and the Head Chef cared for our details. This is an great venue for any type of celebration.
Overall, this venue was easy to work with and the food was good. They did forget a few details, but tried to make up for it. The room needs some improvements, but with decorations and lighting it was beautiful.
I cannot give a better recommendation to these people!!! Lana (the event coordinator) is AWESOME! She was so willing to give us tips on things and to help out anytime she was needed. She was so accessible and helpful during the MANY phone calls, and I could not ask for anyone better to work with. She was also super willing to help me out with my random and odd requests. They literally were willing to bend over backward to help me with WHATEVER I could EVER want!
It is a wonderful place to have your reception! Most everything is included so you do not have to pay those extra rental fees. The alcohol was sort of expensive but not too bad. Everyone really enjoyed themselves at our reception!
In June 2011 out daughter was engaged! And with that event, we began planning towards a July 2012 wedding. We were challenged with the reality that our daughter lived in Winston-Salem and we lived out of state. So we took the route of using the internet to explore our options for a wedding in the Winston-Salem area.
Our criteria were simple (or at least, so we thought). We were looking for a venue that could accommodate up to 200 guests, provide night lodging for guests from out of town (ultimately our guests arrived from 10 states and 3 countries), allow flexibility and quality in the details, be in close proximity to the church, and have fantastic food, all for a reasonable price!
And while we researched virtually every venue we could find within 30 miles of Winston-Salem, only the Village Inn met all of our requirements. So we called, and met Lana.
Thanks to Lana and her team at Village Inn, our daughters’ wedding was amazing. Our first meeting at the Village Inn with Lana was very warm and informative. We negotiated, and appropriate discounts were given to rooms, suites and hospitality rooms. As we were planning this wedding from a distance, we were so grateful for Lana’s willingness to answer emails and phone calls as often as needed. The Crystal Ball Room was exactly what we were looking for - warm, welcoming, and spacious. The decorating we did in the front entrance, the cocktail hour room and the ball room (yes, we could add our own touches to the décor) made the rooms elegant looking and ready for a wedding – it
was gorgeous. We were so pleased. With the bride and groom, we were able to have “food tasting” and “wine tasting” appointments to decide what our guests were going to eat and drink. We settled on a buffet style dinner which, on the day of the wedding, was wonderfully made and displayed. And to top it all off the food was delicious.
Renovations had started in the suites earlier in the year, and they were completed as promised for the wedding. Many of our guests chose to stay for one or more nights and enjoyed the fresh look of the newly renovated rooms.
We are so thankful that we chose Lana and her team at the Village Inn to host our daughter’s wedding. Check out the Village Inn. You will not be disappointed.

This is absolutely a beautiful venue no matter what your budget. I was able to do everything for 6,000$. Which included food, drink, venue, table, chairs, linens and China.
