He kept the energy up and made the night memorable. To this day my guests are still talking about how there was not a lull in entertainment. ore the day of (often within minutes), and were very helpful every step of the way, including room setup throughout the night. We changed plans a bit for playing our dance songs because we wanted to get additional pictures outside and Jo didn't miss a beat to make it happen. Every detail, including coordinating with our vendors, was taken care of. A couple times I went to go coordinate something, or talk to a member of the staff at the reception, and found it was already done and taken care of. The food was excellent. We had the chicken cordon bleu, and slow roasted beef, and upgraded for the smashed potato bar. People are still raving about the food and we got to take some home at the end of the night. The bartender was great and accommodating to the variety of drink ingredients we brought and making signature drinks. Since we were able to bring our own selection of beverages, we brought unique ingredients for our signature drinks that you probably wouldn't find at a lot of venues. Our DJ (Ray) was part of our Visions package. He was very helpful, enthusiastic, and a joy to work with as well and made sure we had a good time. He played a combo of songs we requested, along with others, and got everyone out on the dance floor for a true party when the sun started to set. We had a characterist and he was set up in the perfect spot at Bob and Jo's suggestion. Everyone loved the view and spent quite a bit of time outside on the balcony enjoying the weather. We truly couldn't have asked for better service from everyone involved, including our servers, the owners, bartender, and DJ. Everyone involved at Visions was absolutely wonderful. We are so glad we chose Visions for our reception. It was an experience we will never forget!

g we asked to switch from John ( who did not show to the tasting) to Ray ( who they said was their best). After speaking with Ray he told us that he was a available for that day and he would be happy to do our wedding as long as it was ok with Bob. A day or two later we received a message that “ Ray had prior commitments and was unable to DJ for us” from Bob. We were assured that John was good but man we’re we mislead. We filled out a music sheet a week in advance with the songs we would like for each dance. Somehow with hand written instructions he managed to mess up our first dance song. When asked about it he stated he didint have that version of the song. Instead of speaking about this to us before hand he left it to be a surprise until we were on the dance floor. Being in 2018 with the World Wide Web at his fingertips one wonders how this is possible? After that I had some other complaints from guests and family that the music selection was terrible. I’m ashamed I had to pay money for the DJ service. A moment that was supposed to be magical was runied by incompetence. I recommend asking for another DJ or hiring your own.

! His wife Joe helps with decorating and wedding planning close and on the big day! They offer decorations, dj, and food all in one package, along with setting up the tables and chairs! They are amazing and I can’t imagine our day running so smoothly without them and their amazing venue!

They recommended great vendors to work with, which made the planning very smooth. So much is included with their packages, and we really didn't have to think about much on the day of the wedding except to enjoy everything and take it all in. The food was delicious -- and they offer SO many choices, from the appetizers to the main courses. You will not get your standard "chicken and mostaccioli" wedding menu here! I can also say that they are extremely affordable, compared to weddings in our area -- but offer so much more. The view of the bay and the boats are just beautiful. We are still receiving compliments on our day. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend Bob, Jo and Visions to anyone seeking a Traverse City wedding.

In terms of price, it was pretty comparable to other reception sites in the Grant Traverse county area. Venues that were less expensive did not include some of the amenities that Visions offered, and they did not have the beautiful view overlooking the water like Visions did. We had questions throughout the wedding planning process, and Bob and Jo were always friendly and made sure we were given answers immediately. I cannot think of anything that I’d want Visions to improve upon for the future. It really was easy to do business with Bob and Jo. All in all, Visions made our wedding planning and wedding day stress-free and made it truly enjoyable!!!

never really got stressed out planning our wedding, because Bob made everything simple. Then come to our wedding day, Jo was onsite and helped make sure EVERYTHING went smooth. She made us feel like we were royalty, waiting on us and taking great care of us. The DJ that is provided (we had Ray), was AMAZING!! He kept the music PG during the first hour or so, when we had a lot of kids present, but once the kids left and it was adults only, he tailored the music to fit the crowd that was left. He did a GREAT job!! Overall, I can't imagine having my special day anywhere else. This isn't even to mention the amazing venue itself and the view. WOW!! You can't get any better than here for a beautiful Northern Michigan wedding. They exceeded our expectations! If you decide to have your wedding here, you won't be disappointed.

the gorgeous waterfront view, intimate ceremony sites, food, centerpieces, and a DJ. Bob and Jo were so accommodating that I could even personalize the centerpieces that were already included. I was hesitant about the food since it was not a seated service, but even the pickiest eaters at our wedding raved about the food the next day. We had roast beef and gravy, chicken cordon bleu, mac and cheese, roasted baby bakers, honey glazed carrots with cherries, green beans with almonds, a salad with an assortment of dressing, and dinner rolls. There is not one thing about the dinner service that I would change. There were several items that we chose to upgrade, but the pricing was reasonable, and the ballroom looked absolutely amazing on wedding day! Jo and Bob are true professionals. I was clueless about the wedding day events, but Jo led us through these with ease. Even when it started to rain 20 minutes before the ceremony, Jo and the staff quickly moved everything indoors without hesitation, and the indoor ceremony was just as beautiful. They treated us as more than clients, and there were many hugs at the end of the evening. I would highly recommend this venue to future brides who want to enjoy a relaxed day without going into debt. he day of the actual wedding is what impressed me most. From the second we entered (on a boat) they had staff waiting for us to make sure we arrived safely and take us upstairs for a second grand entrance. Jo was FANTASTIC. Every time I started to think "I'm not sure what happens next" she was by my side, answering questions and even pulling out my chair for dinner. We were served our dinner and drinks. They made us feel incredibly welcome. They watched over guests and cut people off when they had enough to drink (may sound like a turn off but let me tell you, it took a lot of worry off of my plate as the Bride). The DJ followed my plans to a T and played all of the music that I asked him to. He was great and entertaining with the guests and said a beautiful blessing before our dinner. I really can't say enough about how wonderful Jo was even up until the very end of the night she made sure guests had sober rides and went above and beyond. Of course the view was absolutely worth every penny. Guests have been telling me daily what an amazing wedding it was and how it was one of the best they've ever been to. The only downside I will say is that there are a lot of up charges for glassware, use of tv's, colored linens, appetizers etc. And they also sell honeymoon packages which can feel pressuring but at the same time, a nice addition if you are looking to book one. And if you bring in a lot of your own details (which they allow you to do) you don't need to pay for the upgrades. I would certainly recommend Visions. I am so thankful for how my day turned out! ll the answers! As a new bride, I was quite clueless as to what I should be doing and when, but this team made sure everything went off without a hitch! The wedding day/night went perfectly and they do everything they can to make sure your day is stress-free so you can keep your focus where it belongs. Right down to sending us off on the shuttle. After it was all said and done, I thought I lost something very important to me at the venue. I called Jo the day after the wedding and she knew how important this item was to me and personally searched the venue up and down and the shuttle and everywhere else she could think of. As it turned out, my husband had it the whole time and didn't realize it (sigh)! The point is, they will go over the top to make sure your day is exactly what you want and take care of you any way they can, and as long as you give them room to, they'll take care of everything! I've already recommended them to a few other newly-engaged couples and will continue to do so. They're great at what they do and you can 100% trust them to make your day the best. Awesome work!!!!!!!!!!

Joann decorated the venue with extra flowers, that we brought in, and really spruced up the venue. It was beautiful. The staff at Visions is very professional and well trained. across Visions, and soon as I saw the view, that was it.... Sold. The ballroom is beautiful and what makes it even more jaw-dropping is that one wall is completely lined with windows, leaving a stunning view of the West Grand Traverse Bay. Besides the beautiful view, what I loved most about Visions was their all-in-one package, including: ceremony, reception, tables/linens/chairs, catering, bartenders, DJ, cake cutting service, day-of-wedding coordinator. They made it a breeze to plan the wedding 4 hours out of town. As for the ceremony, indoor and outdoor locations are available, both equally beautiful. You have to bring in your own alcohol, which saves you ton of money on your bar service. They have a good partnership with Dockside, who will deliver and pick up all alcohol for only $25. We had an open bar for 100 people for less than $600, and we still had plenty left over to take home. Jo & Chris (wedding coordinators) were extremely helpful! At the rehearsal and the day of, we were running a little behind, so these two lovely ladies stepped in and helped with whatever was needed. They definitely went above and beyond, I can't thank them enough. They ensured everything got back on schedule, and it all ran smoothly from there. Bob was also excellent. He was super patient with my calls/emails of endless questions. He gave me such a reassurance about all the details. Additionally, he was extremely flexible with us! Very kind heart. Now the food... Oh my the food! Nearly two months after the wedding we are STILL receiving compliments! The food is seriously fantastic, and is not your typical wedding food. We had the chicken cordon bleu and roast beef. Visions also has two tastings a year, and make sure you go with an empty stomach, you will want to try everything! Back to the view. If you think it's stunning already, wait til you see it at night. The night of our reception I stepped onto the balcony overlooking the water, and it took my breath away. You can see the moon and stars reflecting in the water, with the lights from the boats glistening. It's very romantic. Simply stunning. Some things to be aware of: Hors'derves for cocktail hour are not included in the package, but are a very reasonably priced add on. Also, when budgeting, don't forget to add in the 18% gratuities and taxes (our taxes/gratuities totaled $2000 of our total bill of $12000). However, this is still a great value. You can't beat getting your ceremony, reception, DJ, bar, coordinator all in one palace for one package price. The only vendor I really had to find was a photographer. Oh and the cake, but Visions provided us with excellent recommendations. Overall, our wedding was amazing thanks to the staff at Visions and all of our guests had a great time. They kept complimenting the location, and of course the view. Visions worked great for our "wedding weekend", as there are so many things to see and do in Northern Michigan (our guests definitely took advantage of that!). If you're looking for a venue with an all-in-one package deal, great location, stunning view, amazing staff, and delicious food, look no further. Call Bob and ask for a tour of Visions, you won't be disappointed!

People are still talking about the mac and cheese- its a must! I was a little concerned that we weren't having a typical seated dinner but the guests had no problems with the buffet style. They were able to enjoy the foods they wanted and even go back up for seconds. We were able to take all of the food home at the end of the night which was great and whatever we didn't want Jo graciously donated it. One of the best parts about Visions is you can stock your own bar. We were able to serve top shelf liquor without the top shelf price tag. The DJ was one of the best parts of the night- I literally did not leave the dance floor because he kept playing such good music. And its great that the DJ is included in the venue- Visions is a 1 stop deal which is very nice. I also loved that the DJ didn't have bulky equipment that took up space on the dance floor. Since he is the permanent DJ they had everything in a little corner off the dance floor. Bob and Jo are amazing planners and are very down to earth. They offer advice as to how to save costs or help you blow your budget if that's what you want! We are still getting compliments from people about how much fun the wedding was and how beautiful everything turned out. I would give this venue 10 stars if I could. I'm so happy we chose to have our reception here!!

m. While it is somewhat limited on room, we made it work. It was a short ceremony so it wasn't a big deal for the guests that were standing in the balconies watching. Reception was great, we even had a server that accompanied my husband and I to the buffet and made our plates for us and then carried it back to the head table for us. I thought that was a neat little detail. We had about 180 guests and never heard one complaint from anyone. The one thing that I wasn't a big fan of was the DJ. I felt he was supposed to keep things moving, but we had to tell him when we were ready to do things. Which was hard to do when we were talking to our guests. If he would have just taken it upon himself when dinner was over to get things rolling, it would have worked out a lot better. So, as the Bride, I don't have any real "complaints". The food was good, the venue was gorgeous, the view was unbeatable, and the night was perfect.

We were greeted by the DJ and Chris and they were very friendly and just wanted to make sure we were happy. The food was AMAZING--roast beef chicken Parmesan and the mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese. People couldn't get over the views and the food. We had the simplest table decor, white on white and the white cube centerpiece. I figured it wasn't worth it to spend more when you're looking at Grand Traverse Bay and I was right! Chris made sure the night went smoothly and we were all eating by 6:15! She let us know when it was time to cut the cake and we were all dancing the night away. The dance floor made me nervous just bc I thought it would be too small, but everyone was able to break it down without any problems! We had the fog machine going, and the common area was great for the smaller kids to break it down without it being so loud for them. Everyone loved going out on the balcony but I never made it out there haha. It was a perfect day and night! I wish I could make every bride not stress when you book here, but I know they will, all brides do! Trust me, if you book with Visions, you will be blown away by everything. The entire staff was so kind and seemed so happy for me and my husband, so nice to not feel like just another wedding party. This place is truly a hidden gem and I highly recommend them for anyone looking into Traverse City!

There were so many things that were included in our price, I had so many people asking why I wasn't stressed as a normal bride would. We appreciated that Bob and Jo both own and operate their own business. They are involved in all the steps. One great thing that we were able to do is provide our own alcohol. Most places make you pay for each and every drink, and charge you for brands that may not necessarily be what they claim. Jo was a great wedding planner and Bob was a great chef. They were extremely easy to get a hold of, only a phone call away. I didn't feel pressure at all from them or from any one of their employees. Of course being a first time bride, you have so many questions. They were there to help and made everything very easy. If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely pick both venues to have the perfect wedding at. Thanks for a great experience we'll never forget!!

nner is completely unnecessary if you hold your event here. Jo and her staff took care of everything and I was never bothered with "logistics" during the reception. For some reason we went into the reception with very low expectations for the food, and we were SO pleasantly surprised--it was some of the best wedding food we've ever had. We had the herbed chicken, pork tenderloin, rice pilaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, and peas and carrots. Very homestyle, but so good. Having helped other brides plan their weddings from beginning to end, it was such a relief to have Jo take the reins and handle so many of the small and time-consuming details that normally cause so much stress in the wedding-planning process. I can't say enough positive things about our experience. I would book them again in a heartbeat.

urrently live in Texas but are both from different areas of Michigan, being 1000 miles away from where you are getting married is a little stressful, but Bob & Jo were there through everything! They answered every question and gave great suggestions. I can't tell you how many of our guests have said that our wedding was the best wedding that they had ever been to! Also, the DJ, Shawn, who we didn't get to meet until the day of our wedding was awesome! He was there for the sole purpose of pleasing my husband & I!

The wonderful thing about this location is that you can have a relatively inexpensive wedding, or you can upgrade just about everything to make it exactly how you want it:-) No matter what you choose, the view will still be amazing! We decided on doing a lot of different types of appetizers.. These were a huge hit! Bob and Jo do an AWESOME job making everything look nice! Everyone is still raving about the stuffed mushrooms! I had a slight issue with one of their recommended vendors not returning my calls. I made Bob and Jo aware of my concern, and they got right on it! The vendor called me within the hour. If you have any issues, be sure to let them know… they really are there to make sure your day is perfect. The only suggestion that wasn't provided by Visions, was a location to stay. I would suggest all future brides to look into Peninsula Bay Condos (Linda Koro) in Traverse City. This made our wedding week perfect! Overall, we did upgraded several things, but it was worth it! We even had an acoustic guitar player come in and play during appetizers and dinner! Bob and Jo were not familiar with him, as we located him on our own, but they helped him set up and showed him where he needed to be! I would say the most outstanding compliment I can give Visions is the way were treated the day following our wedding. We came to pick up the things we forgot, food, and our flowers… Jo was in the process of setting up for another wedding that day, and she hugged us, thanked us and was just as nice to us as the day we met. They do a lot of weddings here, but I can PROMISE you, they don’t treat you like a number. They really are sincere…. That is the most priceless thing of all. The set-up was extremely elegant, and we continue to get compliments on the location and our pictures. Prior to the reception and with planning from afar, I had a few concerns. I was concerned with the layout of the venue as we had approximately 200 guests (max seating 225) and would need to tear down tables after dinner to allow for a larger dancefloor. However, the table teardown by Visions staff was quick and went completely unnoticed both by us and our guests. My other concern was in regards to the DJ as music was very important to us. However, the DJ (Shaun) was very nice, met us immediately upon arrival, accommodated our song selections and also played a great mix that kept everyone on the dance floor all night. He was very flexible and aware of when we were ready to do all of the traditional wedding events (cake cutting, first dances, garter, etc.) and made sure to keep the evening flowing perfectly. We had no regrets with having him as our DJ. All in all, our experience at Visions was excellent, we had no regrets and couldn't have asked for a better venue to celebrate our marriage. Grand Traverse Bay and being that most of our guests were from out of town, being able to show them all of TC and the Bay right from their seats was a huge plus! The food was fantastic (highly recommend the roast beef as a main) and being able to provide our own alcohol (we only spent $200-$250) saved us tons over other reception sites. The Dj did a great job with us and our guests and the rest of the staff kept the tables cleaned off and the head tables drinks full. I can't say enough about Visions and how perfectly everything went for us. My wife, other guests and myself continue to talk about how wonderful everything went. My suggestions, listen to Bob. There is room to cut your budget in the flower dept. because the setting is beautiful enough as is. The officiant (Linda) was also an amazingly personable and professional woman. We used Cake Connections in Grawn for our gorgeous and more importantly, delicious cake and cupcakes. Amy Lewis of Lewis Photography did an amazing job on our pictures and fit well in our crunched budget. If you are thinking of a reception site for your wedding in the TC area, there is no place like Visions! Enjoy!

t allowed--and the food is not good. Most is bland, and nearly all comes canned or frozen from Gordon Food Service. The prime rib was ok, but that's an extra $6.00 per person. Minimum charge for food is for 100 guests, even if your guest list is less. There's a LONG list of items that are "for an additional fee". Then there were all of the little last minute "surprises" (less than 2 weeks before the wedding) that he either "didn't include" which left us scrambling to obtain during an already busy time, or "had an additional fee" for. Thankfully his staff treated the bride and groom well, but behind the scene the bridal families were treated as an unwanted inconvenience. Jo, his wife, tries to keep things running smoothly, but bless her heart his profane abuse extends to her as well as his staff. Ask around and you will soon find that his terrible reputation precedes him--something we learned after the fact.

They also do all set-up and clean up. We had a candy buffet that they did a good job with. You can bring in your own alcohol. This saved us a ton of money compared to places that you are forced to buy alcohol from them. The wait and bar staff did a great job, we didn't hear any complaints from guests Cons: No personal food tastings. I lived out of state and could not make their open houses, so we went into our dinner never tasting their food. Being that it is "All-inclusive" I never got to meet with the DJ until we were about to be announced for our grand entrance. There were a few mix-ups about songs and order of events. The owners have a lot of experience, but my husband and I felt pressured to do things their way. They would "strongly recommend" things their way and we almost had to argue with them to get it our way. Our contract said we would be contacted 3 weeks before the wedding to discuss final details, we weren't contacted until 13 days prior. Our contract also stated that for an additional $50 an hour, we could extend bar service. We were told that $50 does not cover their costs, so they wouldn't extend our bar. We could have further pursued this matter, but it wasn't worth it to us...just know they may not 100% follow the contract unless you call them out on it. Watch out for the 18% gratuity tax. That is what got us. It is in the contract, but they charge 18% on EVERYTHING, even the upgrade to colored linens and cocktail tables.
