Wabeek Country Club

ow. When I booked this as our venue in the Fall of 2017, I would have absolutely recommended it, the staff was AMAZING the second my fiancé and I walked in. The coordinator (Marty) was awesome, easy to communicate with and get in contact with, he was funny and was willing to do anything it took to make our day beyond perfect. However, about one month before our wedding day I was no longer receiving responses from Marty, which was unlike him because he would respond very promptly typically. So, I called the venue and found out that he had moved positions and there was a new coordinator..ONE MONTH before our wedding day and not a single person contacted me to tell me. I scheduled a meeting to meet and talk with her. I left my job early and drove an hour. Well, she had left early and decided not to call me to tell me. I was already quite frustrated but also I know things happen and I let it go. I finally met with her and she PROMISED me that all of the sudden changes the venue was making due to new ownership would be finished and perfect for my day (there was contraction EVERYWHERE and I had no idea that was happening). I double checked that the things Marty was promising me were still going to happen and she confirmed. Those things included, a second bar opening up on the other side, my cake being cut and individually served to guests and that the groom suite would be the way it was when we looked (they promised us they weren't doing construction down there). Well, there was no second bar, my cake was cut and set on a table for guests to get themselves and they were not told this AND, last but not least when my now husband walked into Wabeek with his groomsmen, the groom suite had been completely destroyed by construction. They had no where to get ready, Kim (new "coordinator") was not there at 11 am as our coordinator was supposed to be there by 9:00 as we were promised the day we booked. Nobody could find a place for him and his groomsmen to get ready in and luckily it was nice out they had to hangout on the patio all day and then get dressed in the golf locker room...Luckily I didn't know this unit the next day because it would have ruined my day. But, it has killed me for the last month knowing that his day was so chaotic and communication was TERRIBLE. I think the worst part is that I had since sent Kim an email to discuss all of these things and it has now been about 3 weeks and I have not received a response from her or the venue. ALSO, my husband was promised that him and 3 others could play a round a golf on a Monday after the wedding and we after now 4 phone calls and messages he has not received a phone call back to do this. I truly think that if ownership, management and staffing didn't change that none of these things would have happened and it absolutely kills me. The updates are stunning I will not lie, however on your wedding day you want and absolutely need good communication from your coordinator and venue and follow through, it is NOT okay. Also, I am sure with these updates there prices have gone up and they were expensive before updates. Please, find yourself another venue there are plenty more that you will get much more out of.

I was also told that a member of the staff was rude to one of my vendors which I did not appreciate. Many promises were made at both the initial meeting and the tasting that were not fulfilled. Like I said, I am glad we had this as our venue as it was beautiful and the staff made everything seem flawless, I just didn’t appreciate some of the extra stress that happened prior to the day.

Additionally, they were always quick to call us back and timely in everything that we ever needed from them. They truly made our wedding planning experience as easy as possible. Also, the staff at Wabeek is nothing short of the best. One of the biggest compliments my husband and I received after, and during our wedding, was how friendly the staff was at Wabeek Country Club. The staff members were always smiling, greeted everyone, and were so personable that you could see guests taking time to actually strike up a conversation. Also, their dedication to top-notch service is unparalleled. Hors d’oeuvres were consistently served throughout cocktail hour to keep guests happy and dinner was served with swiftness and precision. Additionally, during the reception if guests did not have a drink in their hand, or needed something, the staff would immediately make sure they were taken care of. The staff at Wabeek displayed the best customer service I have ever seen, or experienced, at a wedding in my life. Lastly, the food and beverage at Wabeek Country Club is AMAZING! There truly are not words to express how wonderful the food and drinks were at our wedding day. EVERYTHING was perfect: Dinner, Hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and dessert. The guests at our wedding RAVED about everything and my husband and I agree! They say that there are two things that people talk about once a wedding is over: Food & Alcohol. And I can promise anyone that decides to utilize Wabeek as their venue for their wedding that they will not be disappointed as their food & beverage is beyond measure when it comes to greatness!

They were very accommodating and willing to let us make the wedding our own with menu and drink changes. We also were fortunate to have a perfect Michigan summer day which was gorgeous for the outdoor cocktail hour. If we could do it all again, we wouldn't change a thing! Book Wabeek Country Club and you won't be disappointed on your big day!

our guests could tell the difference in the extra service provided. You don't realize how much of a difference those things make in the ambiance of your wedding until you experience it. Also, the food was sooo good (not that I had time to eat too much of it lol) and so many people told me how amazing their meal was, the best chicken they've ever had. I consider myself a very type A person, and I cannot think of one thing I would change about Wabeek. They really do go above and beyond to make sure your reception is exactly what you want, and they are a LOT more flexible than a lot of other venues we looked at. It was totally worth every single penny!! :)

She really took the time to get to know Jeff and I, and make our day so very special. I will be forever grateful to her for making our day so perfect in our eyes. Not only was Wabeek a perfect location for us, the price made it even more attractive. One of the best deals we had seen! I would recommend Wabeek as a great place to get married!

She has such a nice personality and was truly a pleasure to work with and she was always prompt with my countless questions and always was as accommodating as possible. The food is incredible, not only at the tasting for 5 people but at the wedding for 130 people. Our guests raved about the quality of food and the servers were quick to get food out-I didn't hear of anything less than delicious and hot. We took pictures after the ceremony outside and we had several servers that were waiting with our signature drinks and our appetizers and they continued to serve our group outside the entire time we were out there while the rest of the guests enjoyed the cocktail hour inside. There was one server who I had asked for a drink and she literally stood waiting with the single drink for me for at least 10 minutes while I was caught in pictures-it was mind blowing how good the service was. The staff boxed up all of my centerpieces and linens and such for the wedding and reception so when I went to pick it all up the next day, it was a breeze. My husband and I are so happy we chose Wabeek and would happily recommend this venue to anyone.

We got tons of compliments on the food and the service. They even helped us pack up at the end of the night! I cannot express how happy I am with my choice of Wabeek. Thank you Bethany for all your help, it was an amazing day and Wabeek was wonderful!
