I had booked a block of rooms for our guests to reserve if they wanted to stay in town the night of our wedding. Everyone enjoyed staying at the Marriott and it was so easy working with them to set up the block. I didn't have to give them a credit card which was the biggest perk when I went looking for hotels. We also dropped off welcome bags for our guests the day before and they all loved them. If I didn't live here I would want to stay at this hotel!
I had a small wedding of 53 guest only. The Contra Costa room they gave us was perfect for our size. The room did not feel too small nor to big it was just perfect. The attention to detail is superb! The wedding coordinator worked with me every step of the way even meeting with me on the weekends to accommodate my work schedule. The weekend of my wedding the wedding coordinator got sick and was not able to be there for me but her staff is so amazing! Her staff took such good care of me while she was recuperating, they surely made sure I would not stress out for anything! Would definitely recommend the Walnut Creek Marriott for any event celebration help at the hotel.
The Walnut Creek Marriott was a great choice as far as guest accommodations. They were easy to work with and allowed us to reserve a block of rooms without having us pay for them ourselves. They made it easy for guests to make their own reservations and receive the low group rate.
We actually had an after party after our wedding in the hotel bar, and that was a fun, low-key way to gather with guests after the wedding. The only downside was that the drinks at the bar were WAY overpriced!! Besides that, we had a wonderful experience at the Marriott and would definitely have guests stay there again.
I had just a few issues dealing with the staff here. One was trying to figure out how their shuttle service worked. It was very limited and I ended up going with an outside vendor to get my guests from the hotel to the wedding/reception site.
Some people didn't get their welcome bags.
When my family arrived two days before the wedding and wanted to have dinner in the hotel restaurant (there were 15 of us) the restaurant staff was very rude. They didn't want to seat us all together (not one table, just same section) and told us it was "late" for such a big group. It wasn't until my sister said that we could just go somewhere else that would be happy to seat 15 at 9:00pm that they finally started acting like they wanted to serve us.
Rooms were nice, clean, affordable. It was really just these two issues. I would still use them again for another occasion.
Our wedding reception was at the Walnut Creek Marriott in the California Ballroom. The Marriott Hotel is gorgeous with an open and welcoming lobby area, a nice bar and friendly staff. The California Ballroom holds 300 people max, and is a GREAT place for a wedding reception with beautiful chandeliers, mirrors that reflect light, chairs that didn?t need coverings and spacious dancing area. I absolutely LOVED the staff that we worked with from the events coordinator, to the wait staff, to the head waiter; all of them were extremely friendly and willing to help. We also stayed at the hotel overnight, and the staff was willing to do whatever we needed to make our stay comfortable.;The hotel was undergoing major renovations to the rooms when we were staying there. I?m sure that they should almost be complete by now, but that did cause a few minor problems during our stay there. IE: My shower had a pretty bad leak to the room below and was out of commission for the remainder of my stay (good thing I was in the governor?s suite and had a second shower), the concierge floor was also being renovated so we could not take advantage of the lounge that served complementary breakfast/lunch/cocktails. But, I?m sure that once the renovations are complete the hotel will be better off. Oh and the one thing that I didn't like about the ball room, was that the 'exit' sign and doors were directly behind the head tables and if I had more time, I would have gotten a partition to hide it.
The staff provided outstanding service!
I liked that the room was on its own floor, so there was no way for strangers to look or come in. The people were great to work with. The beds in the guestrooms were so comfortable.;There is an extra fee for renting the room on top of paying per head. We brought our own wine to serve, we were able to negotiate the corkage fee. THe servers passed out the wine instead of leaving it on the table.
