WaterColor was an absolutely gorgeous venue to bring all our friends and family together in one of my favorite places. The food was amazing and everything came together really beautifully. Unfortunately, the planning and leading up to the event were a bit of a headache and not how I had hoped the wedding planning process could be. It was extremely difficult and frustrating to get in contact with our planner working at Watercolor and there was no sense of urgency in responses back to us. Many details were missed in our planning documents that we had to catch multiple times and request be updated again. Even details such as when the open bar was to close at the end at the end of the night were not communicated to the staff and the groom was required to pay for a drink along with many guests. We were also told all parking tickets received on wedding day would be waived which did not occur. We did have an onsite Vendor Day that was extremely beneficial and a pleasant experience where all vendors were coordinated by Watercolor to be onsite. The Chef helped to create the exact food menu we wanted. When we were at Watercolor in person, we received excellent service and special attention, but planning from afar was not ideal. I would have wanted to read this type of review before selecting a venue, especially one that seems to be a one stop shop for everything you need. For the money we were paying, the level of communication was lacking. I started wedding planning wanting to have fun and enjoy the process and this made that difficult to do on a weekly basis. The wedding was perfect and fun and special, I do not want to discount that, but I recommend doing your due diligence before selecting a venue and understanding what communication channels and expectations will look like.
This venue is absolutely incredible! The WaterColor team executed the entire wedding process seamlessly. I had a very specific idea in mind when it came to how I wanted our wedding experience to be and I am so glad that my husband and I chose to have our wedding at the Lakehouse. My husband and I do not live on 30A so this was a destination wedding for us. Of course I was nervous about the difficulties we might run into not being able to be close by, but it was never a problem. Response time for emails was a little slow during the busier wedding months so I recommend you stay proactive so that you can get responses by any deadlines you may have. However, as our big day approached we did not have a problem getting in touch with any last minute questions or concerns and they worked wonderfully with our month of coordinator.
All of their vendors were wonderful to work with and took the time to get to know us and what we wanted. The food was quite honestly the BEST wedding food we have ever had. Several of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed dinner and the cake. No one was left unsatisfied in the F&B department. As for florals/decorations, I felt like their vendor had stepped into my mind and made everything come to life! I had chills when I walked in to the reception area.
If you are looking for an idyllic waterside wedding venue that will make planning a breeze and give your guests a night to remember, this is the place!
First, let me preface this by saying that my now husband and I are so glad we chose WaterColor as our venue. We both have tons of responsibilities and commitments at our jobs, so the all inclusive aspects of WaterColor really appealed to us, and it definitely made our lives easier as we planned for our wedding. The venues that they offer are absolutely stunning, and the service is top notch and professional. We also appreciated their approved vendor list, which made planning so much less hectic than it might have been. Everyone had an absolutely amazing time at the ceremony and reception, and everything looked stunning. It was, without question, my dream wedding, and I was thrilled with how things turned out.
However, we did have a few small issues that prevent us from giving a full five stars. The most pressing of these is that about 10% of our guest list had special dietary needs, and not a single one received the special meal that they had requested (despite the fact that their names were on a list as having requested them). My mother, who knew that she was supposed to receive one, was able to ask the wait staff for hers, but others were not so fortunate, and vegetarians had to make do with the vegetable offerings (which everyone said were delicious) at the buffet. We felt fortunate that everyone found something tasty to eat, but for the expense, really wish that those with special needs had gotten what they had requested. And in general, there was a bit of an issue with communication, especially because it seemed like the dj had not been brought onto the same page as everyone else in terms of the timing of the event. For example, my father, as the host, was told to welcome everyone to dinner, but didn't realize he was supposed to give detailed instructions about what food stations were where, and was under the impression that this would be announced by the MC. However, it wasn't, so he was worried that there might have been some confusion. And when he had some questions for our planner, we couldn't find him, which led to some further confusion, as well.
Overall, though, I do want to emphasize that we were really pleased with this venue, and received so many compliments from our guests about how lovely everything was, how delicious the food was, and what a good time everyone had. And we ourselves had a fantastic time, and absolutely adored the ceremony, the reception, and the suite we were booked into for the wedding night. We recognize that no event is perfect, but were it not for the issues with the special meals and the confusion about the timing and instructions, ours would have been. And we did want to leave an honest review with flaws and all so that others can make informed decisions. (My husband told me to write the review I would have wanted to read, which I thought was very good advice!)
Growing up on 30A, our top pick for a wedding venue was always WaterColor, with a ceremony at the Boathouse and reception at the Lakehouse. We came to Cheryl with a clear vision of what we wanted---and a list of 1,000,000 details--- and she worked her magic every step of the way to deliver an absolutely beautiful wedding that we will look back on as a night of perfection for decades to come. We couldn't recommend the WaterColor wedding experience more highly.
Having our wedding with WaterColor was the best decision we've ever made! The entire process from start to finish was flawless. The venue, the staff (especially NINA!), the chef, etc. was top notch. We've gotten several comments from our guests over the course of the past few months that it was the most beautiful wedding they've ever been to and by far the best meal they've ever had. It's important to pick the right venue, but the service and the staff consistently went the extra mile. Everyone truly made us feel so special and taken care of from day one of our site visit. Our coordinator, Nina, made our experience so smooth. She was on top of every detail and quick to respond and handle any question. She was genuinely so happy for us and helped make our day a once in a lifetime experience! I would do anything to go back and re-live the whole experience all over again. Thank you, WaterColor, for making our wedding dreams come true! :)
My husband and I had our dream wedding at Watercolor Inn & Resort. We looked at a few other venues in the area, but we could not stop thinking about Watercolor when we looked at the other places. The resort has it ALL. We were planning our wedding from about four hours away from this venue and since Watercolor works with specific vendors in the area, planning was a breeze, I honestly was never stressed out one minute during planning. Nina was our coordinator and she is a saint. She was always quick to respond to my questions and is super organized (which I am not, so that was very helpful!) You have your wedding coordinator there the day of the wedding, which makes your day stress-free as it should be. I would not change one thing about our day and I wish we could relive it every day. And I can't forget to mention how DELICIOUS the food was. You will regret not having your wedding at Watercolor - we can't wait to go back :)
I went to a Watercolor Inn "intimate beach wedding" a few weeks ago. It was an "intimate" small wedding with about 20 people....and everything be else staying at the Inn. Before the bride walked down the isle we (the guests) were asking beachgoers to please quit playing paddle ball besides the wedding and asking others to move their towels and umbrellas from the immediate wedding surroundings. Long story short... there was nothing "intimate" about this wedding. The worst part about the ceremony was not being able to hear for the Watercolor employees throwing around folded chairs and umbrellas right behind us. At one point I had to gesture st them to be quiet. If you are looking for an intimate wedding that isn't in the middle of a crowded beach, look elsewhere!!
My family has visited WaterColor for the last ten or so years during the summer, so WaterColor was an easy venue choice for me. After comparing costs from having a wedding in a major US city, WaterColor was very comparable when you add up all that you get in the price per person (especially in the winter). Something that was unique to me about having the wedding at WaterColor was that we had a whole week of memories there and our guests were able to get an experience there instead of only the wedding. We worked with Nina, who was outstanding. We asked her so many questions as we were planning, and she was quick to answer them. During our "planning visit" she scheduled every meeting, laid out what the wedding day would be like, and did a great job of giving her opinion from her experience when we asked for it or needed it, but letting my mom and I dream for the day and lay our our vision as well. She was great about communicating with us as our wedding day approached and made the most detailed schedule for everyone involved. We gave her the "personal items" we brought and had a wrap up meeting the week of the wedding, and then relaxed! She took care of everything else! The wedding day ran so smoothly, Nina was taking care of everything behind the scenes. We had our ceremony in the BoatHouse and reception in the LakeHouse...both incredible venues. The cake service you get with the package was wonderful. The food is by Fish Out of Water, our friends are still talking about how delicious it was. At the time we booked, we had to pick one of 3 florists they provide. We chose Events by Nouveau and they were wonderful to work with and made the venues even more beautiful. I couldn't have asked for anything else from Nina and WaterColor!
Absolutely loved everything! They made everything so easy, and it turned out beautiful! Our wedding coordinator Cheryl Walton, was amazing and made sure everything went perfectly!
Could not be happier with our experience with a WaterColor Wedding! The venue, the FOOD, the ambiance was all perfection! We had a wonderful experience with Our CHIEF COORDINATOR Cheryl Walton who truly understood the bride's vision of sophisticated elegance. Our wedding week was a great one, fun and exciting. Would do it all over again! MOB Dallas TX
There are not enough words to describe what a wonderful experience we had during our wedding festivities at Watercolor. Cheryl was truly a rockstar. She went above and beyond during the entire process. After hearing so many stories from friends of the things that went wrong on their days, I had resigned myself to the fact that a few things were likely not to go the way I expected, but that I would just need to roll with it. Not once did I have to put this into practice as everything was flawless. Cheryl bounced from place to place behind the scenes making sure that everything flowed perfectly. She very politely but firmly corralled our somewhat rowdy wedding party. She continuously refreshed my husband and my drinks whenever they were running low. She filled our plates for us while we greeted our guests and made sure we had a moment to eat. She had to-go plates of our food and cake waiting for us in our hotel room. All in all it was spectacular all around.
In addition, I will say that the venue was spectacularly gorgeous. I am so happy to have had my wedding there. We looked at many venues in the area, but none of the others had this amount of warmth and natural beauty.
I had my cocktail hour at the Boat House and my reception at the LakeHouse. The space is absolutely beautiful and does not need much decorating because of its natural beauty. They were both great spaces and were able to accommodate a large amount of people!
I worked with Cheryl, the wedding coordinator at Watercolor, and she is wonderful. Starting with our first meeting for my vendor day, I had complete confidence in Cheryl and her ability to coordinate my wedding. She also was also very receptive to my ideas for slightly changing the watercolor pre-packaged weddings. This allowed me to do something a little different from what they usually do for weddings. When it came time for the wedding, I was amazed with how Cheryl handled the entire weekend. She is a true professional and she and the entire staff at Watercolor were awesome. I would highly recommend Watercolor as a wedding venue.
The food at the wedding reception, catered by Fish Out of Water restaurant at Watercolor Inn & Resort was absoloutely delicious. The food was in season, fresh, and beautifully presented. We had grilled grouper, beef tenderloin, grilled vegetables, and risotto. We had oysters on the half shell, steamed shrimp, and crab claws. I have gotten many compliments on the food at the wedding.
Perfect place for bachelorette dinner on the 4th. Food and service was amazing and we had the wine room to ourselves! French doors opened for best view of fireworks! Loved it!
Everything was perfect... Wonderful food, BEAUTIFUL decor, and AMAZING location... We chose the "Western Lake Park" side of the resort... Guests attended "cocktails and mingle" at the BoatHouse before the ceremony. Then walked across Western Lake Park Bridge to the Ceremony site. After the short ceremony, Guests walked back across the bridge to the pool area around the Baithouse. Fischer's Flowers was our florists... AMAZING. There are not enough good words that describe Grove (Fischer's Flowers) and Cheryl's (wedding planner for WaterColor) team work and ability to make dreams come true. My mother-in-law described the whole weekend as MAGICAL. I have to agree. We also had our rehearsal dinner and cocktails at the Inn Green in WaterColor. The magnetic duo of Cheryl and Grove made this night amazing too... The whole weekend was a success... AND, for the bride who doesn't want to deal/worry about anything... I would recommend WaterColor Inn and Resort a million times. MAGICAL!!!
From the moment my husband and I got engaged we knew that we were going to get married at WaterColor. For years we have vacationed there and absolutely love all the features offered there. WaterColor is our absolutely favorite place to vacation because it is so family friendly, welcoming, and just plain comfortable. We usually stay in the resort unless we stay for longer than 4 days, then we rent a home. You really feel separated from the outside world and the food, pools, shops, and other amenities are wonderful.
Our wedding could not have gone any more perfect. WaterColor offers a coordinator who will help you in the process, especially if you live out of state as we do. They offer multiple locations that you can choose from to get married, we wanted our ceremony on the beach and our reception in the boathouse. WaterColor provides each couple with a list of preferred vendors, who are all just fantastic. Every bit of detail you work on with your choice of florist.
I would highly recommend WaterColor to anyone looking to have a "destination" wedding with southern charm.
Our reception was beautiful the outdoor setting was very nice and the food was delicious.;We paid a considerable amount of money to have our event at the watercolor inn. As we were beginning our rehersal the night before the wedding we noticed another couple rehearsing. It turns out that although we were guaranteed exclusivity the venue double booked our wedding date and thought we wouldn't find out about it. We felt this was very underhanded and unprofessional.
