Weddings by Vara

Weddings by Vara is the best planner I could have asked for! She planned our wedding reception, and she worked hard to make sure all details were accounted for and our day was stress free and perfect. My husband and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for an amazing wedding planner. :)

We’re had hired Vara for “day-of” coordination which meant Vara and her team signed on about 2 months before the wedding however Vara was so helpful even with finding vendors before then. We had a set budget and Vara was so conscious of it too when recommending vendors. Even when we had issues a few months before, she was more than willing to step in and help resolve the problem. Being a multi-event wedding it was important, we were conscious for every vendor. Leading up to the wedding Vara had multiple meetings with us, when we were concerned with certain vendors, she made sure to reach out them. The weekend of the wedding - Vara and her team made sure things were arranged - there were a few decisions to be made - Vara and her team reached out but otherwise everything ran as smoothly. We only had one hiccup but as we had sent it out to Vara and family, that was quickly resolved. We loved having her and her team there and she definitely put our minds ease throughout the weekend.

We recently had our wedding last month, and Vara was our planner. Going in, we had done a substantial amount of meticulous planning from little things such as seating arrangements and signature cocktails to bigger things like deciding the catering menu and decor. We were excited to work with Vara - she and her team are very nice. However, we ended up having major issues during our wedding weekend, many of which were caused or exacerbated by Vara. During the first event of the weekend, we ended up not having a mobile baraat because of a last minute miscommunication between Vara and the DJ. We ended up finding out 15 minutes before the baraat that we would not be having the DJ. The problems continued as Vara and her team did not adequately direct our guests to the shuttle buses, and our charter bus ended up leaving without any guests due to the disorder and confusion. After these first few issues, we specifically asked Vara to bring issues to us immediately. Unfortunately, within the next couple of hours when the next big issue arose, Vara waited a few hours to tell us. We ended up only finding out we would not have our specific dance floor - or any dance floor - less than 2 1/2 hours before our event was to start. Because we found out so late, almost everyone in our families went into panic mode to find a way to get a dance floor. This ended up being a very anxious, stressful, and disheartening experience, with many of us in tears due to the experience. Ultimately, our experience with Vara left us very regretful of working with her and her team. After so many meetings together, we approached our wedding weekend believing that it would have limited stress and that Vara would know the big and little details. Unfortunately, Vara did not know things as simple as the time our reception was going to end - instead we were once again briefly stressed out during the event after she told us our event would be ending soon. We understand that issues arise during any wedding and that wedding planners cannot solve all issues, but we never anticipated that our planner would cause or worsen problems. It was inattention to detail and a lack of straightforward and honest communication that left us exasperated with Vara by the end of our wedding weekend. She’s a very kind person, and we do believe that she likely does well for smaller weddings. But from our experience in having multiple events (including different religious ceremonies) and a large number of vendors, Vara and her team simply did a subpar job. We will always look back on our wedding with fond memories, but in our mind, our biggest regret remains not going with another planner.

Vara and her team were wonderful! From the moment we hired her to the day of the wedding, she went above and beyond in all aspects. 7 days before my wedding, my seamstress still hadn't finished my dress and Vara made sure we got the dress from her promptly and found another seamstress to work with on such short notice that finished all the alterations within 2 days!
