The Westin Book Cadillac was recently renovated and the guest rooms and reception areas are absolutely gorgeous. We made us of the beautiful Motor Bar area to say hello to guests arriving and to hang out after the reception! The Venetian Ballroom is stunning and the food was top notch. The location of the hotel is also really convenient for anyone looking for a downtown reception venue. Overall, we were really happy with our experience!

We hosted our wedding ceremony and reception at the Westin Book Cadillac and we cannot speak highly enough of the experience we had! In short, every staff member was professional and attentive to us and our 220 guests throughout our event and as 80% of our guests stayed at the hotel over the wedding weekend.
Our Event Manager, Courtney, was able to help us through the entire planning process and was there throughout our celebration on the day of the wedding. She made sure every question was answered and did everything she could to make our day unforgettable, which it was!
We had nearly 100 guest rooms booked through the hotel and our Group Reservations Coordinator, John, was consistently working with me on our guest room amounts to ensure we would have enough guest rooms set aside for our guests.
Having everything in one venue is absolutely the move for your wedding! You will easily relieve yourself of at LEAST two vendor contacts (hotel and shuttle service) and the Westin Book Cadillac team are a dream to work with!

We booked the Westin for our daughter’s rehearsal dinner and Sunday morning breakfast. The catering manager was very easy to work with, helpful and responsive. We had about 50 guests at each event. We used the Italian Garden, Crystal Ballroom and the Esquire Room. Of the three, the Esquire Room is the most “conference” like, but it was fine for breakfast. Menu options are fairly extensive and the buffet we chose for dinner had soup, salad, sides, three entree options snd desserts. The food was good. We also offered passed hors d’ouvres and the tapas bar before dinner. In hindsight, we didn’t need the tapas bar. This venue was very convenient for our out of town guests, the majority of whom stayed at the hotel. We were very pleased with our choice.

Our wedding reception in the Venetian ballroom was gorgeous and I couldn’t have asked for a more picturesque day. Truly was so delighted.
Things that went really well…
1. The valet service is excellent.
2. The cocktail hour and and food was top notch.
3. Many of our vendors were already familiar with this venue which made wedding planning easier.
4. The hotel rooms were excellent (aside from the unplugged issue, see below).
5. The Venetian ballroom is beyond words beautiful. I can’t imagine a more beautiful venue exists.
A few things went pretty wrong though and even though I would probably pick the Westin book Cadillac if I did it all over again, I was really disappointed in these few things…
1. Working with the Westin coordinator Shanina Meeks was really terrible. She was disorganized and uncommunicative. She made things harder than they needed to be and 9/10 times working with her was more complicated than just doing the task myself or with other staff. Once I even expressed to her my concern that she didn’t know really basic elements of our day (which I had told her several times already) and she raised her voice at me and started calling me ma’am/or using my first name in a patronizing way. Completely shocking! Even though the Westin tells you a coordinator comes with the purchase of the venue, Shanina recommended we get a day of coordinator and honestly I wouldn’t have trusted her to do it for us anyway.
2. There were things unplugged in the room and the night before my wedding a cordless phone was low battery and wouldn’t stop beeping. I figured it out eventually but it caused me to wake up at 3:30 AM and made me tired for my big day.
3. The bar at our reception confused champagne, Chardonnay, and ice wine (which we didn’t even ask for at our bar). So a lot of folks got ice wine when they asked for Chardonnay or champagne. The bartenders really should be able to tell the difference.
4. Even though I mentioned it multiple times, they lost my rented cake stand (which the bakery would’ve charged $200 for). It took several weeks but finally Shanina “found” it after we told her we expected her to fit the bill for the cake stand loss.
5. The Westin Book Cadillac went bankrupt when we were mid wedding planning and no one told us. We had to find this information out through a random news article we saw. When we contacted them to inquired about it they answered all of our questions and assured us it was being transferred to new owners smoothly. But it would’ve been nice to be informed with everything else going on.
6. We reserved 40 rooms for wedding guests when we booked the venue. They started selling them to other folks though 1 month before the wedding. A lot of our guests wanted to book within that month and were told it was too late. So those guests stayed at Shinola, or some other hotel. Despite the Westin turning our guests away, they still expected us to pay an attrition fee for not booking a certain percentage of the contracted rooms in time for the 1 months cut off.

Amazing venue! We held our daughters wedding reception in the Venetion Room in October. The staff were very professional, friendly and attentive. Food and drink were excellent! Accommodations for overnight guests were great. Although the weather did not cooperate, our party was able to utilize the Italian Garden. providing a beautiful setting for pictures. Thank you to all the people at the Westin Book Cadillac for a wonderful evening,!

I just had my wedding at the Book on October 6th. I had been working with a coordinator named Emily before she quit, and her assistant Kelley took over. Kelley immediately picked up the pieces and did a great job. It was everything I had dreamed of and more. The team at the Book was beyond amazing and Kelley Tilma did such a great job with coordination. Guests could not say enough good things about the venue and the food. I got married in the Crystal Ballroom and had my reception in the Venetian Ballroom. Everything was even more beautiful than I could even imagine. There were only a few negatives: One of the bartenders were extremely nasty to guests - he was also on strike the following day outside, so he may have just been not very happy about the union strike. Yes, there was a strike the following morning by union workers - this was nothing the hotel could help, but I was made aware of the potential of this happening 4 days before my wedding. I would have appreciated a little more notice - but the hotel staff was very apologetic about it. Also - the cost of this wedding as a bit more than we anticipated. Emily, the previous coordinator did not fully explain the fees such as service cost fee, etc. She did explain there was a $27k minimum for food and drink, but did not explain the $15k in service fees we would have to pay. Again - cannot say enough GOOD things about my wedding, venue, staff, etc. If you want to Westin Book Cadillac for your wedding day, get ready to write a check for $50k - just for food, bar and rent costs.

Thanks for making our dream wedding come true! We hosted our wedding at the Westin Book Cadillac in the Venetian Ballroom with our cocktail hour outside the Italian Garden. Erin and Kelley were outstanding to work with. They were prepared for every meeting, helped coordinate vendors, everything ran smoothly at the reception, and they made the entire experience of planning our wedding enjoyable. Erin and Kelley also helped arrange a very special moment for my wife at the reception, it made her night and meant a lot to me to see her so happy. The whole night was amazing, walking into the room we could feel the love and the atmosphere and setting the Book Cadillac helped create in the Venetian Ballroom was perfect. The food was outstanding; all of our guests spoke highly of the food and venue! Erin and Kelley went above and beyond to make our night magical, and we couldn't be happier with our choice.

We had our rehearsal dinner in one of the ballrooms and stayed here during our wedding festivities, along with our wedding party. This venue has tons of experience in wedding-related events, and the Wedding Coordinators are great to work with. I know they will continue to host lovely events, HOWEVER, I wanted to post this review as a warning to those who are looking for safe lodging in Detroit. My husband has loyalty status with Starwood properties, so this was the natural choice when looking for our wedding night suites (we got married at the Colony Club). We booked our suites (one for each of us) almost a full year in advance, however, when we checked in (at the normal time, even though members qualify for early check-in) we had to wait almost two hours before both suites became available. Then, before checking out, we came back from brunch to find that someone had already "cleaned" his suite and GROOMSMENS' GIFTS HAD BEEN STOLEN. We reported the incident immediately to the Front Office Manager, who told us he couldn't do much and then we had to leave on our honeymoon with the issue hanging over our heads. They never found out what happened, and only after a lot of effort on my part emailing between the manager and our wedding contact did he finally offer to add some additional loyalty points to my husband's account. We have stayed at other hotels of this caliber and have always been impressed by the professionalism and quick resolution of issues ---not so at this location, and we obviously won't be staying here again.

One word, AMAZING! I would have my wedding at the Westin Book Cadillac every day if I could afford it lol! I could write 20 pages about how wonderful everything was. From our initial site visit to the day of our wedding, everything was perfect. We had 115 guests, we had our ceremony in the Crystal Ballroom and our reception in the Venetian Ballroom (which is SO beautiful). We got married on a Friday because you get a little price cut but were able to stay in budget even with upgrading the bar, adding an extra hour to the bar and having butler passed mini desserts! We got SO many compliments on how beautiful the hotel was and how delicious the food was. I didn't eat much at the wedding, typical bride, but what I did eat was delicious! Emily and Kelley made planning a wedding there so easy. They were so amazing to work with. They made the entire process so smooth and paid attention to every detail. They make sure you have a completely custom wedding, what you want is what you get. I always looked forward to going down to the hotel to have a meeting with them. They coordinated with all our vendors which took a few things off my plate which was nice. We got a great rate for our hotel block which encouraged a lot of our guests to stay. The hotel rooms are great! Very spacious and welcoming. Bride and Groom are comp'd a corner suite which was a nice perk. There are restaurants in the hotel and several around the hotel. We had our rehearsal dinner just down the street, not even a 5 minute walk. The front desk handed out our welcome bags for us, there is a charge per bag, but that is pretty standard these days. Our wedding day could not have been anymore perfect. Everything was on schedule and positive all day. We had one little hiccup with our ceremony musician but Emily handled it for me like the issue never existed. We headed to the lobby bar after our reception for a few more adult beverages :) The entire hotel staff made us feel so welcome and treated us like royalty the entire time we were there. GET MARRIED AT THE WESTIN BOOK CADILLAC! I promise, you will not be disappointed.

The Westin Book Cadillac is amazing! We had our ceremony in the Chrystal ballroom and our reception in the Venetian ballroom and they are both gorgeous! We were told by multiple people that it was the best wedding food they have ever had! The Venetian is a beautiful room and does not need much extra to make it look fabulous! Emily was also super helpful! she made sure all the vendors knew when to be at the hotel and where so set up went smoothly. She also took over calling anyone that I was having a hard time getting in touch with. She is super easy to get in touch with and answers questions quickly! I could call her with any questions and she made me feel at ease for the big day! The hotel rooms are very impressive! the rooms are large and clean. The Westin was the best place we looked at and I am so happy with how everything went! It really made my day that much more special having it in such a gorgeous space! I highly recommend the Westin! it is totally worth the money!

The Book Cadillac was an amazing hotel to work with. We did our room block here and had a wonderful experience. They were flexible, accommodating, professional, polite and helpful. They made sure each of our guests got their welcome bags at check in and helped all our day-of vendors (hair/makeup, florals, videography) find their way to our rooms to get started.
The facility itself is lovely. They lobby bar is gorgeous with massive vaulted ceilings. The restaurant food and drinks were delicious. The rooms were well kept, comfortable and nicely decorated. The suite was a perfect size for me, my bridesmaids and my family to get ready and have breakfast together the morning of the wedding.

Everything at the Book Cadillac was top notch. The people I worked with during the planning stages made me feel like their most important client. I felt like the queen at the tasting. Then during the evening, they had everything covered so I didn't have to worry about a thing. They had everything under control, even including helping us to pace our entrance into the ceremony. And the fact that the place is gorgeous didn't hurt either. The convenience of having your guests stay right there at the hotel is wonderful. About 2/3 of our guests just spent the night which made me feel better about any drinking. I highly, highly recommend the Book Cadillac for your wedding.

I have to say that we had our expectation set very high, and Kim and Jeff at the Westin went above and beyond those expectations!
The venue was absolutely wonderful! The service was amazing! Our guests are still raving about the food. Our rooms were wonderful! If your are considering a wedding downtown or would like a truest memorable and beautiful event- this is where you want to be!

We were able to save a block of rooms for the wedding at a fantastic price here. The only thing we were liable for is if we personally picked another hotel for the guests to stay at (which we didn't)- otherwise they will hold rooms and they won't charge you if less are booked then you expect. We loved our room and stay here and the guests commented that it was SO much nicer than the Marriott (or other hotels they have stayed at in the area)and was WELL worth the $89/night rate they received.
While setting the arrangement up, I was called or emailed promptly and everyone I talked to was very pleasant. I even got a thank you for booking your event with us card!

My husband and I got married at the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit on June 11, 2011. We had around 200 guests most of which stayed at the hotel.
The hotel was recently restored and the Venetian Ballroom was beautiful. We served a nice salad, the filet with vegetables and a fruit cobbler for dessert. The food was very good.
We had our first issue when we got a call less than a week before our wedding notifying us that our catering manager and main contact suddenly didn't work there anymore. No warning or discussion in advance. We had been in contact with her exclusively for over a year and then we had to re-negotiate some details and re-send half of our documents four days before. STRESSFUL!
Approx half of our guests (including us) had to go to the front desk to re-enable their room keys. This was frustrating when I was trying to get to the room to put on my dress and had to wait with the photographer outside before someone could get us a key that worked with limited time for pictures.
We spend over $35,000 at the hotel on food / bar / setup (not including flowers, music, photos, etc). We were pretty surprised when they didn’t throw in things like internet or water in our honeymoon suite. They tried to charge $100 for a pot of coffee during the rehearsal and $4 per can of soda for the girls while getting ready… we had to carefully review our contract and bill to find all of these charges. There are $400 fees to rent microphones, $1500 setup fees for chairs, and 21% service charges on EVERYTHING. We tried to negotiate some of the terms but were not terribly successful. Even after they made some concessions, they sent us a final invoice with all of the original, pre-negotiation charges. We had to make calls and send emails back and forth for days trying to correct over three thousand dollars in errors that had already been charged to our credit card.
