HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. I can’t begin to describe how unprofessional this place is. Do not be tricked into staying there or using them. I wish I dug into before setting up a room block for my wedding because it turned into a complete nightmare with no resolution. They pulled a classic bait and switch to get us to encourage our guests to book there (at a more expensive nightly rate than the Wyndham hotel nearby) and ultimately turned out to be the most dishonest, disorganized and unprofessional establishment I’ve encountered.
- We directed our guests to stay at the Westminster since we organized an after party at the bar/restaurant on their property, and after their staff confirmed the event and all the details with us and gave us the greenlight to let our guests know. We pre-arranged the party, and all was confirmed by their events staff. Then, 35 days before our wedding, we received an email saying the bar/restaurant had been closed and they cancelled all booked events. We franticly replied asking what the alternative options were and had to provide screenshots to remind them that they confirmed our event because THEY FORGOT! They then IGNORED all of our calls and emails for over a week and when we eventually escalated it to the hotel’s general manager, they offered to shuttle our guests to a nearby local bar (no disrespect to the bar, but it was not an appropriate alternative) or said they could set up a BYOB room in the hotel, and give us paper cups. BYOB is not a sufficient alternative to a wedding event! Elizabeth and Juliana were incredibly unresponsive, rude and unapologetic through the whole ordeal and didn’t seem to care that we were customers. Even after WE OFFERED TO PAY for a more suitable atmosphere (i.e. booking a banquet room) they still did not reply to our emails and calls. Who behaves that way and handles a wedding event that way?
On top of it all, our guests had several issues when trying to book rooms with our reservation code. When I raised it to the hotel and provided proof that they were not accurately keeping track of our guests (I even escalated it to the general manager) they implied that our guests were the problem or that we were making the errors up. They never once took accountability for the incompetence of their reservations process. Ultimately, we had no idea how many of our guests actually stayed at the hotel since the hotel did not group them correctly. We would have loved to leave gift bags as we did at The Wyndham but weren’t able to because we had no estimate for the number of people staying.
When we finally arrived for the stay, the entire bad experience snowballed. We were locked in our room because of a faulty door, woken up first thing in the morning by cleaning services demanding access to our room, had MULTIPLE guests complain about the rudeness of the staff, and had one of our guests drive hours home because the hotel “lost” their reservation.
Also, THE POWER WENT OUT while getting hair and makeup done.
Yes, I paid full price and no we did not get an apology for any of the above when checking out.
AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. Do not buy their sales pitch under any circumstances. The Wyndham and Hilton are nearby and guests who stayed there had pleasant experiences.
Susan, Juliana, and Chloe we're such great helps planning every detail of my wedding party stay at the hotel. They were so great!! I can't thank the Westminster Hotel enough for going the extra mile for my guests. They kept the bar open late on a Sunday just for our group and really kept the party alive after the wedding! The rooms were immaculate and they even comped dinner the night before for me and my bridesmaids that stayed over. Last but not least, the hotel gave us an extra early ride to The Grove for free at around 5am. I can't thank them enough for all they did and would definitely recommend them to anyone in the are. 5 STAR HOTEL!! 5 STAR SERVICE!!
This hotel was a preferred vendor of our wedding venue, The Park Savoy and every step of planning a room block for our guests with this hotel was frustrating. Prior to check-in there were countless issues and management changed weekly. Upon check-in our guests had endless issues from horrible breakfast and service, failure to give guests welcome bags I made, rude servers in the restaurant to broken toilets, coffee pots, no hot water, rude cleaning staff who walked right into rooms and banged on our suite door at 8am after our wedding...the issues were endless. Using this hotel was the only mistake we made and OUR ONE REGRET. unless you want to be embarrassed and hear endless guest complaints go elsewhere. The staff here deserve ZERO STARS (with the exception of Gene-he drives the shuttle and was wonderful.)
Juliana and Chloe were great to work with and helped establish a room block at the same rate as the other hotel my wedding guests were going to stay at. The Westminster made it easy to book shuttles to bring guests to and from our wedding. Shuttles could only run on the hour or half hour. Wish they would run on a quarter after, but that's a minor detail. The bridal suite was huge with plenty of room for 8 of us to have hair and makeup in the room the morning of our wedding and included the white satin hangers for the photographer to use to photograph my dress hanging. The Westminster even let us have our after party in the lobby of the hotel and didn't mind the noise we were making or that we brought our own alcohol. Our guests said the hotel rooms were lovely with no complaints. Thanks again, Chloe and Juliana! ~Dina and Oren
We had a hotel block for my wedding guests this weekend. From the first time I called Westminster until our check out the morning after the wedding, I have to say I was blown away by the level of service I received.
It is centrally located. Right off of Route 10 which is nearby to a number of major highways and TONS of shopping/ restaurants in the area.
The rooms are clean and spacious. The Bridal Suite was AMAZING.. I stayed in it the night before and had my girls meet me there in the morning to get ready. It fit 10 of us plus 4 hair/make up artists and still had space to set up breakfast and have places to sit.
Planning a wedding comes with a ton of challenges. How am I supposed to figure out shuttle timing? How could people forget to book rooms!? Every step of the way, the team was there to help walk me through everything and went out of their way to make sure no stone was left unturned.
My husband's cousin is in a wheelchair and they have a handicap accessible room. He told me afterwards that this was the first time EVER that a hotel room that he stayed in was truly a handicap room. The bed moved, roll in shower, all of the things that made such a difference for him to feel comfortable.
The whole team across the board were some of the friendliest, most accommodating people I've ever met but Juliana and Emerald were spectacular!! They helped me keep my sanity during a very exciting but STRESSFUL time! I am so grateful that my venue recommended Westminster to me and my husband for our guests.
