I had a great experience working with What's the Occasion! I am a planner and recommended them for my clients event.
At our initial meeting, Fairrus made great décor recommendations (they have an amazing selection of items) and made my client feel that she was going to be well taken care of. They even created a mock setup a few weeks before to ensure that every detail was perfect. We had to make some last minute changes and Fairrus was very accommodating (which I really appreciated!).
On the day of the event, What's the Occasion was well prepared and I barely had to give them instruction. They exceeded my expectations, and most importantly my client was happy with the way everything turned out. It was beautiful!!!

Brides! If you are reading this, please take this review as your warning. What’s The Occasion is a one of a kind event rental company in many ways. First, they have the most beautiful inventory out of any other company in Houston, but it comes at a huge cost. This cost is not only monetary, it includes several back and forth’s over the items that you request to add that they will forget to add, your words being twisted by the staff after they fail to fix your invoice after they confirm that they have already added the items you’re requesting, calls and messages from the owner of the company confronting you as a bride for holding their staff accountable for the mistakes they made, and even threatening to refuse service after you’ve already paid out your invoice in full.
- [ ] In my case, several different items were left off of my invoice, to the extent where I gave up on even trying to rent everything that was missing after the amount of times I had to re-confirm what I needed. I picked my battles, and to this moment, the owner can’t even quite put her finger on what all I was missing. After one of the staff members confirmed adding the items both over text and via email with my coordinator, the items were actually never added. When I called to ask her staff member, Paloma, who was the person that confirmed that the items were added, she went back and twisted my words to the owner. When the owner called me back and began to accuse me of, in her words “degrading” and “disrespecting” her staff member, I asked if they recorded phone calls because I would NEVER step out of line with any service worker. I have worked in the service industry for more than 10 years and would never go about any situation without diplomacy, especially when I’ve already paid more than five thousand dollars to this company. The owner, Fairrus, and I quote, said “You are very bold and brave risking your whole wedding just the week before to disrespect my staff over some candles”. That is a clear threat, and instead of me handling the situation in as hostile of a manner that she did, I continued to be polite to her. The funny part is that it was way more than just candles? Additionally, she denied that Paloma was ever notified of what we needed and that she ever confirmed it and tried to play it off as “all of these conversations happened yesterday”, but when I sent her the time stamps of the multitude of conversations, she did not acknowledge the fact that she was proven wrong. I wasn’t looking for an apology and I wasn’t looking for a refund of anything either, I was honestly just looking for peace of my mind, especially when I was renting everything from A-Z through What’s The Occasion. The level of unprofessionalism within this company is unmatched. So PLEASE BRIDES EVERYWHERE! BEWARE OF THE MENTAL TURMOIL THAT THIS COMPANY CAN CAUSE YOU DURING WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND PRECIOUS TIME OF YOUR LIFE! I made the mistake of trusting this company twice because they had pretty linens, but I’d rather pay double and then some just to avoid the headache of arguing with the owner and her staff. Outside of paying them through Zelle, they keep your credit card on file and on the DAY OF my wedding I received an unauthorized charge for the items they failed to add that I already made accommodations for elsewhere. BRIDES PLEASE PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR SPECIAL DAY, you are just another dollar sign to them.
I went to Fairrus at What's The Occasion as a recommendation from my now husband when he met her at a wedding show. At first, the team was helpful and allowed me to add and remove items from my invoice to accommodate my wedding. One month before, I contacted the company to schedule an appointment for my final selections. At the meeting I removed several items as the venue was now providing. Fairrus was not happy that I was making these changes and said I could remove items, I could only add. I told her that had not been the case. She said it was in the contract. I asked to see a contract I had signed. I paid the deposit to secure services, but signed nothing. She said the invoice was the contract. I replied invoices are itemized lists and not contracts. She gaffed and replied she won't remove the items and my "poor attitude" is not helping the situation. Was I frustrated... yes, but not one time did I yell or curse. She walked away from the table and began talking to another individual. Ten minutes later, she returned with the edited invoice, sat at her desk, and said nothing else. She left me at the table with no closure and acted as if I wasn't sitting there. I got up and left.
Fast forward a week before my wedding. My husband said to keep the services and just finish out the wedding. I agreed. I reached out to them to confirm drop-off and pick-up times. My calls and texts were not responded to. My husband called with the same result. My coordinator called resulting in the same results. My day of went up to the building and waited to receive some sort of service. Speaking with my coordinator, Fairrus began to slander my name saying I was lying and not providing full truths. She said I lied about the size of the elevators (which I stated standard sized elevators) and tried to screw them over with the rentals. Nonetheless, coordinator confirmed delivery for 2p although Fairrus tried to manipulate drop-off to accommodate another event she scheduled. Day before, i signed the actual contract. No more than an hour later, she attempts to charge us an extra $300 because the front of the venue was blocked by the city of Houston. We already paid a delivery fee AND elevator fee for the delivery of the items. Coordinator speaks to the delivery team directly and all is worked out.
The day of the wedding, the rentals are dropped off at 4pm instead of 2pm. Which makes set up fall late and pushes everything late INCLUDING my wedding. My moving team is now unloading their truck to make the process move faster. Remember I paid for delivery and unloading from elevator which now my people are doing, five of the ten tables are missing, and at the end of the night they pick up 2.5 hours late. They were informed pick up needs to be at 12:15am and the venue closes at 1a. The contract stated 2 hour pick-up grace period, but Fairrus confirmed with my coordinator this would not be a problem. They did not show up until 2:45am leaving my coordinator and venue coordinator heated.
I have never experienced such an unprofessional and rude vendor as Fairrus at What's The Occasion. I state that as a client and a wedding planner. She apparently only values and respects you as a client if you are spending large amounts of money without changes. There are things you just don't say or do to the bride especially so close to a very important day. I'm highly disappointed and will not be referring any client, friend, or family solely because of Fairrus.
What’s the occasion has been amazing and super accommodating! We originally were scheduled for April 2020 but had to postpone due to covid. They were super flexible, even when we changed the date a few more times.
They are honest, with great work ethic. Paid attention to every detail and made suggestions I would not have thought of. We finally had our wedding june 19, 2021 and everything turned out amazing!!!! Thank you so much, I would recommend you to anyone who wants a beautiful and stress less wedding or event experience :).
I will NEVER rent from What's the Occasion again. Not only was Fairrus , the owner, unprofessional and beyond rude. The items I rented were not clean; and her customer service was horrible.
I rented 5 clear chairs which were placed in my car by her team. Once I arrived at my destination and took them out of my car, I discovered dried bird poop on two of the chairs. I also rented 5 gold cushions which were also dirty. Luckily I looked at those before I pulled off. Two were so dirty she had to give me two new ones after her failed attempt at cleaning them in front of me. She then mentions to me that the items were not clean because she wasn't expecting me this early. Well if they close at 5pm and I am there at 4:50 how late was I supposed to come, in order to give her enough time to prepare for my pick up...
Next came her piss poor attitude. Her drop off hours are from 10am - 2pm on Mondays when most people are at work. I asked the question "How did you come up with those drop off hours. since most people are at work during that time it may be hard for us to get her. Especailly someone like me who is a teacher and can't just leave easily. " To that question she says ..." I can take my stuff out of your car and give you your money back!" Was what I asked not a reasonable question?? Then she says if Walmart has specific hours do you question them.... To that I said yes, If I'm curious and want to know. Then she explained her reasoning... She was just totally rude and her attitude was uncalled for. If I wasn't in a time crunch I would have left those items right there like she offered and drove off.
Part two of her piss poor attitude is when I returned her items on time with clean cushions that I cleaned myself might I add. She walked past me 4 times. She did not speak, there was no customer service, her team did not help me take items out of my car, she did not apologize for renting dirty items and she did not apologize for her appalling behavior upon my initial rental.
I would not recommend anyone use What's the Occasion. Especially If you are the type of person who asks questions, you will be treated like trash. She will never get any of my business ever again.
I was very pleased with the responsiveness and the ease to place my order for my drive by event. I used the silver shimmer wall which added just that pop I needed which I used as a photo back drop. Love love loved it!!
Recently rented linen for a Bridal Shower. The quality of their products are so well maintained, packaged and delivered. It was a last minute order and they were more than happy to assist me with the order.
I am located in Dallas and I have been in touch for over a week. Emails, calls texts. Promises to call back are not kept. We have a small outdoor wedding planned and I realize I may not be a huge client, only needing about $1000 worth of rentals. But you should certainly treat all the same. Due to the pandemic we are limiting the number of people at the reception. I’m really disappointed in the service that I received and will choose another vendor at this point. Certainly did not receive the stellar service we expected based on reviews.
One of the best decisions you can make for your wedding is using this company. They were the first linen vendor I had an appointment with. Feel in love with a set of linens but wanted to give the vendor the venue recommended a try. Needless to say, I went back to What's the Occasion and am so happy I did.
Fairrus is ABSOLUTELY amazing. At the first meeting, she was delightful and just had pure excitement about going through linens and chargers. I appreciated feeling like she wasn't just there because there was money to be made. You can tell that she loves what she does and she wants to see her customers happy.
She answers emails promptly and that was greatly appreciated because that's the best way for me to communicate during the day. I highly recommend and would use them again for linen and decor needs.

What's the Occasion provided a streamlined process from start to finish which made doing business in the midst of a pandemic seamless. I was able to pay, sign my contract, and complete their client questionnaire digitally which was convenient and safe. Delivery and pick up was timely and staff was customer friendly. Not to mention, my family was thrilled at how I turned my garage into a cocktail bar with the table and bar stool rentals.

I loved working with Fairrus and Millie for planning our wedding. They have such a beautiful collection of linens and decor and my vision and style just vibed instantly when I walked into their showroom! They also executed our wedding perfectly. It was all so beautiful and everything we imagined and wanted. It was so incredible seeing our vision come to life. Everything from planning to execution and clean up went very smoothly and I couldn’t ask for a better experience.

Fairrus and Milli are the sweetest! We rented out 270 white chiavari chairs, a half moon table, and a 48" table. We booked with them 6 months before and throughout the 6 months, their communication was spectacular. Every time I had a question, I'd receive a prompt response. As a bride, I really appreciated that. I requested to have everything delivered on the Friday before the wedding since we were going to set up our venue then, and they worked with me to get them there that day. The delivery and set up team was also very friendly and hard-working. Overall, working with What's the Occasion was a pleasure.
Farrius was amazing to work with! We had various consultations as our mind kept changing, and every time, we felt more than welcome! They give amazing suggestions, and ultimately did the most gorgeous pipe and drape and were so good with our room flip. Thanks so much WTO!
We utilized What’s The Occasion (WTO) for our wedding on 10/13 since they were a preferred vendor and our experience with Fairrus and her team was nothing short of stellar. Everything from the initial consultation to the quote process to the execution on the day of was done with punctuality, class and a lovely touch. Fairrus is trustworthy, consistently professional, has a keen eye for detail and a quick grasp of the overall style you’re going for. She also thrives under pressure. WTO helped us with color schemes, furniture rental and even helped decorate our altar/backdrop which stood behind us during the ceremony. On top of that, we used their in-house florist to complete the décor for our wedding in unison with the color / palate scheme of our linens and table settings. We couldn’t be more pleased with our experience and would highly recommend WTO for any large-scale event, particularly weddings. Do yourself a favor and seek them out if you’re getting married – on top of everything else their prices are very competitive. Thanks again guys. Bravo!
We worked with WTO for our wedding in September. When I scheduled my first consultation, Fairrus asked me what my colors were. I told her and she went into the showroom. She had already put together a look for me that I loved. You can't tell from the outside, but there are so many options (colors, fabrics, decor items) to choose from. I also met with Gena of Floristry, and told her what I was looking for in a bouquet. I made some adjustments to the original items, and as soon as I spoke to Fairrus and Mili about those adjustments, they adjusted my quote and sent it to me. After I finalized my totals, we had a few last minute changes. I called, spoke to Mili and she made the requested changes. I really appreciate the fact that WTO does not "hard sell'. They are willing to work with you and within your budget, so you can be as extravagant or as simple as you choose. They were always available to answer questions and responded quickly to messages. I wold certainly use them again and would recommend WTO to anyone needing decor/floral for an event.
I got married 8/11/19 at 5226 Elm. What’s the Occasion is one of their preferred vendors but I would booked them again and again. They’re very responsive with emails, they’re always there to answer any questions or concerns. I booked them for rentals and decor and oh my! Everything was perfect. Fairrus and Mili are super easy to work with, and they were very patient with us and helped us throughout all these months. I got so many compliments on my wedding decor!! Book them now!!! I got married on April 12th, 2019 at 5226 Elm. Even though What's the Occasion is a preferred vendor, I would book them again in a heart beat. Farris and the entire team were incredible to work with! They are all extremely responsive to emails and calls, making payments is extremely easy through their portal, changes are also easy to make, and they were punctual and professional on the day of the wedding. I can't recommend them enough!

Great choice for linens! They had a variety of options to match the colors I wanted as well as good sizes to fit any table (it was difficult remembering what size tables came with my venue... but it didn't really matter because most of theirs were "one size fits all").
Very organized and professional website to pay. I chose them as a preffered vendor for my coordinator (Polished Occasions) and so she was able to pick them up, get them cleaned, and drop them off. I'm not sure how that process went (thankfully). I just saw them day-of and they looked great!
Linens were beautiful!!!!!! The navy blue princess lace overlay was my favorite, as well as the metallic birch that we used for our head table. So so happy we went with Whats the Occasion Linens & Decor for our wedding!

My original vendor for a boxwood backdrop went MIA the night before my wedding and never showed up. I called about 5 different vendors the MORNING of my wedding to find anyone who could rent me a boxwood backdrop. Mili from What’s the Occasion answered the phone and solved all of my problems. She got the quote to me in record time and it was delivered within hours that same day. The boxwood backdrop was beautiful and my guests had so many compliments. What's the Occasion Linens & Decor are amazing! I recently starting working with Fairrus this year and it was been fun! She always has the best linen selections that work with my client's budget and style! The staff that actually came out didn't know how the venue was supposed to be set up so they kept calling me, as I'm trying to get dressed for my wedding. It was not set up like I requested but it was still pretty.

What’s the Occasion saved our wedding!! Our original linen company (Monrreal & Co - do NOT use him) ghosted us starting the Tuesday before our wedding. Thursday we went on a man hunt and figured out that he most likely would not be showing up (which he did not). What’s the Occasion swooped in at a moments notice and got us linens that would work for our tables, showed us how to lay the round table clothes they had available in our original linen choice on rectangular tables, and calmed me down as I was very distressed when we arrived without an appointment!! They even had most of the linens available for us to take that day! If you need linens, these are the people you should use! They are very helpful and you can tell they love playing their role in making an event perfect!

As an involved groom, I was very impressed with the showroom design experience. The team knew our venue, helped us floorplan and made cost effect suggestions to enhance our space. It was a laid back and stress less appointment. Pricing was on point and they executed our look perfectly on our wedding day. Fairrus stopped by our rooms to say congrats and let us know how great the room looked. My wife said that put her at ease.
WTO is my go-to for rentals. I found them on IG and I’ve used them for my birthday and my mother’s birthday. They are easy to get I touch with via email and send my invoices almost right away for me to see if I need to add or take away anything. They do set-up and pick up which took stress off of me. I recommend them for any occasion.

Fairrus and her team are true gems! She knows her stuff and it shows, just look at her showroom! Which by the way she keeps updating with the latest trends!!! I love coming to her showroom! It’s like dress up for grown ups! As an Event Planner it’s nice to go somewhere to mix and match and bounce your ideas off a professional before you present to the client. I highly recommend her company for any and all your decor needs!!
We were extremely happy with our linens and chairs from What's The Occasion. Fairrus and Jaime are extremely professional, while making our time with them really pleasant and stress-free. It was a great experience! Highly recommend. My daughter's wedding was exactly what she and her husband wanted.
Run as fast ass you can away from this company! Horrible! 1/3 of my napkins were folded too small and I had to redo them causing me stress and causing me to rush to the rehearsal.
My contract shows I rented 100 napkins. I returned 98.
They are charging me for 12 they say are missing even though they agree I returned 98. CROOKS!
If I could rate this company higher I would! They were fabulous to work with especially in my crazy bride state! Unfortunately, centerpieces ended up being one of the last things on my list to complete and after trying several options I was so very lucky to find this gem of a shop! Not only did they bring my vision to life for what I wanted but they stayed in my budget and helped me play with it until it was! Not to mention that they even assisted with my sweetheart table too! Such a great experience and should I need to do something like this in the future I would absolutely not even shop around but go straight to What's the Occasion! I plan to tell all my friends who are wedding planning too! Thank you so much ladies for making this such a memorable experience! The tables were beautiful and set the ambiance for my New Year's Eve wedding perfectly!

I have nothing but great things to say about Fairrus and her business! She was recommended to be me by my wedding planner and from day one, she was extremely helpful and kind during my wedding planning process. I met with her multiple times to review our selections for our big day and she was willing and eager every time! Even when I was making last minute additions, everything was in place! My now husband and I wanted to do a first look of our ballroom before guest entered....it was a fairy tale! She transformed the ballroom with all the linens and decor! I can't thank her enough for making our day extra special and beautiful! She is a true gem!

We hired What’s the Ocassion for our table linens and utensils and I can’t express how beautiful everything turned out. The entire process was very easy and the suggestions they made were exactly what we were looking for. They captured our wedding dreams exactly the way we envisioned. The room looked amazing! Each table was perfect! I couldn't imagine a better experience. Everything went so smoothly and we will definitely use this company again if I need to rent linens. This was the best decision we made.

I went into my appointment thinking I knew exactly what I wanted. After seeing the extensive amount of inventory they had to offer, I became a bit overwhelmed and confused. Fairrus was able to take my original concept and enhance it 100%. She had awesome suggestions and a great eye for design. She made it such an enjoyable experience and when I left I was finally able to begin to enjoy the planning process. Not to mention their prices were so affordable. I cant wait for my next event to use her.

Beautiful decor and linen! I received so many compliments on everything especially the King and Queen chairs. Only minus is they was supposed to set up at 10am but didn't show up until 115pm which caused my wedding to start a hour late!
There's only one word I can say for the services that where provided, fantastic! Everything looked great. My guess we're visually surprised, as was I when I walked in the room! Great staff, great service, great price what more can you ask for. I highly recommend them!
Farrius and WTO was so amazing throughout the entire planning process. Their prices are budget friendly which any bride can appreciate. I was very indecisive and Farrius (the owner) was incredibly patient and helpful with me when I was picking out all the decor for our wedding. Upon delivery, I was short by two linens (one for the welcome table and one for the cake table) because I had made a mistake and miscounted how many I would need and therefore had not requested or paid for those. While I was getting ready on the day of, Farrius came to me when she noticed it and gave me different solutions of how to fix it so I could pick what I wanted to do. She could have totally hid it from me or panicked me by freaking out but she kept her cool and handled it so well by giving me those different solutions (we would use a plain ivory one from the venue and then decorate the table with the bridesmaids bouquets and extra candles (on the house) and in the end, everything worked out. No one even noticed that there wasn't a matching tablecloth like all of the other tables because it's a speciality table and the welcome table was already beautiful and didn't need to be covered.
It was a magical and beautiful night and I got so many compliments on the decor. This is the kind of service that any bride would appreciate and their decor selections and prices are amazing too. I highly recommend and will only be using WTO for any future event decor or rentals in the future!

Fact. What was delivered was the cheapest option she had...floating candles and then on top of that not even enough for the tables to spread evenly. I called her upset, crying mortified in tears when i should have been getting hair and makeup. She said too bad im headed towards galveston to set up another wedding.
I paid for things i never got. Then upon close, a venue she was familiar with, she didnt show up til 1 am or 130....i forget. But the venue held me and my guests until someone came to pick up the chairs and linens. Not cool. Then after all of that....we were accused of stealing one of the linens!
Wouldnt have happened had the people been there on time . Not the wedding experience i expected with this lady.
I wouldnt recommend her to anyone.
Side note. I did mention my mother was pestering me about her friend doing my centerpieces but the hard fact is i paid my full debt and never said i wanted to cancel.
And honestly if i had why would this woman leave some cheap centerpieces in its place? Doesnt make sense to me.
Did i get a refund for the difference? No.
Has she called or emailed to make it right? No.
Will i ever refer her? Not ever.

What's the Occasion was so great for our big day! I had my initial consultation and Farrius seriously set out anything and everything I was considering to show me how things looked together and help me set up combinations for our guest tables, reserved tables, cake tables, etc. We had glittery tablecloths for the cake table and it looked SO good. I was so pleased with how everything came together, it was beautiful! Farrius was awesome to work with.
What's the Occasion is wonderful!! My daughter's engagement party was beyond successful thanks to the owner Fairrus. She is a sweetheart and such a giving person, she was punctual and even double checked with my self and my daughter to ensure the set up time. Her employees set up our event in the alloted time discussed. She went out of her way to provide me with the most beautiful linens for my daughter's engagement party, despite my budget. She was very professional unlike some of the other vendors I'd previously met with especially with such short notice. If I could give her 10 stars I would!!! I will be referring What's the Occasion to everyone I know!!!!
We met with the vendor many months in advance of the wedding on 3/12. The staff showed up to the venue late and was missing some of the linen. We were on a time schedule and after calling the owner, she was very unprofessional and although she tried to fix the problem, she did not have the linen that was ordered and wanted to substitute. We had to contact another vendor to bring the linen and pay additional money out of pocket and we are still waiting to be reimbursed. The workers were extremely slow and they bought dirty, stained linen to put on the tables, but of course we sent it back and would not allow it to be put out on our tables. I missed hair and makeup appointments and we had to help her staff get finished so they wouldn't run into time for the wedding party to arrive and take pictures. The bride and groom was very disappointed in the services we received and would not recommend this vendor to anyone again. A big thanks to Tessy with Artistic Celebrations for coming with the missing linen on a very short notice. The owner Farrius should consult with other linen owners and maybe they can share their professionalism with her. I have worked with other linen companies and this is the worst one ever.
I Personally use What's The Occasion Linen for all of my company events; and she never fails to disappoint me. The quality and professionalism that she present is amazing.
I have used other linen vendors before and I can honestly say that What's The Occasion doesn't make you feel just like another client; like the others do. She is warm and loving and each time I go in the showroom I feel like family.

My experience with What's the Occasion Linens and Decor was horrible and made my wedding weekend beyond stressful. The consultations with the owner, Farrius, seem to go smoothly so I had high hopes for the day of BUT I was terribly wrong. Not only did she arrive 2 hours late to set up the linens, which was crucial for a DIY bride trying to decorate my venue and tables, but she wanted to argue with me regarding her expected arrival time even with emails to prove her argument incorrect! In addition, she was again 1 hour passed requested time the day following the wedding to pick up the linens, and was unapologetic for her lack of professionalism and behavior. Her assistant upon delivery and set-up was openly mouthy regarding the situation and handled the linens with disregard, allowing them to drop to the floor. Lastly, two of the tables had the incorrect linen color placed on them! For the money I paid I expected the professionalism to be on point, the discussed contractual time to be met, and the linens to be handled in a way fitting the importance of the event.
I contacted this vendor to get chairs for my wedding. The day of my wedding, her team members arrived 45 minutes late and only 2 team members to unload and unpack 160 chairs that had wrappers on it. The guys moved way to slow for a company that arrived late. My brothers had to jump in to help set up the chairs. These guys pushed my ceremony time back and you know if you are having a ceremony that is based on time, this is a big NO-NO. I am not happy with this at all. However, i will say the chairs are very nice and the owner is a lovely person but i'm still upset that this happened because i ended up paying other people extra to stay an extra hour because whats the occasion arrived late.
What's the occasion provided us with our linen and it was all very beautiful. We were very happy. They allowed us to make late changes to our color scheme and they were very flexible.
