We had two wedding events with WheatFields--a rehearsal dinner/welcome reception and a family brunch the day after the wedding. WheatFields was quick to respond to my initial request for information. They were very open to accommodating my ideas for these events. We booked the sunroom for three hours for both events. For the rehearsal dinner/welcome reception, we used the first hour for an intimate rehearsal dinner for about 20 people. For the last two hours, friends and family joined us for drinks and appetizers. We ended up having around 80 people I believe. We determined this count a week or two before the event and WheatFields allowed us to, instead of just the sunroom, use the whole dining room at no extra cost. This was so awesome. Since the WheatFields restaurant closes early in the afternoon, we were able to come in and decorate early and then for our evening event, it felt like we'd rented out the whole space.
When planning, communication with Maria, the event coordinator, was sometimes a bit slow. She often couldn't give a direct answer because she needed to check with the owners for things. But all in all, the food, service, and event space was excellent! Don't think of WheatFields as just a bakery, it is a great wedding event spot!!
Every part of this desert experience is wonderful. I would highly recommend Wheatfields for every party.
We had a post-wedding brunch at Wheatfields they day after our wedding in a private room. They had a condensed menu for our group (that we selected). The service was great and the food delicious. I would highly recommend them.
My guests could not stop eating the strawberry wedding cake. Everyone was raving about it! It was a must have for our wedding.
While the cakes were simple they tasted amazing! And having a bunch of different flavors was an awesome idea!
We were able to chose 5 dinner options from a huge menu and bring in little chocolates for desert. Everyone loved the Sangria! Only complaint is when we tried to meet with them to organize everything, the person we had made the meeting with wasn't there. We got no apology and only excuses until it was pointed out to them that none of the 3 people involved had apologized for the wasted 40 minutes (driving time) during a busy time (less than a month until the wedding).
We used Wheatfield's for our wedding and everyone LOVED their cupcakes! We had strawberry wedding cake, red velvet, and german chocolate. They delivered to Lincoln for a small fee, but was overall affordable (< $2 a cupcake). They don't do traditional tiered cakes, so that may be a bummer if that is what you are looking for, but they are delicious!!!
Loved doing our rehearsal dinner here! Food was amazing and the service was great! Highly recommend!
They made beautiful, tasty cake truffle that we used as favors. I was able to place the order completly online and over the phone.
We wanted Strawberry Wedding Cake. At any cost. We ordered a three tier, whipped frosting, strawberry wedding cake with classic simple lines. We then ordered a huge sheet cake for when people came back for seconds. Because we knew they would. My husband's cake was a chocolate golf inspired round cake with white chocolate golf balls and a putting green on top. We loved it.
We had booked the sunroom at Wheatfields about six months in advance, and my mother-in-law talked to them several times up until the wedding about food, liquor, being able to decorate the room, etc. But when we arrived at 7pm for dinner, they had seated other patrons in the room we had reserved. It turned out I had a voicemail on my phone from 5:55pm (when we were already in the wedding rehearsal), asking whether we planned to keep our appointment for 6:00. Even if we had scheduled for 6pm (which we didn't, we scheduled for 7pm), why would they call to confirm at 5:55 the day of the event??? It was incredibly frustrating and my mother-in-law was devastated that the event she had worked so hard to plan had been forgotten. To the servers' credit, they worked very hard to get the room set up for us (although they had to kick out the poor customers who had already been seated in there!), and the food was very good. But the shocking thing about it all is that they were unwilling to offer any kind of a discount to my mother-in-law, who paid for the meal, even though we had guests standing out in the restaurant for 20 minutes while they reset the room for us and even though all of the specifications she had laid out were completely forgotten. She contacted the owner, Ron Popp, about a week later to express her frustration, and he basically blew off her complaints and offered NOTHING in compensation--after this major problem, she still had to pay full price!!! The servers at Wheatfields did everything they could to make things right, but no one was held responsible for the error in scheduling that threw off our dinner. Although I have always enjoyed the food at Wheatfields, I am too angry to go back after this episode.
We ordered the strawberry wedding cake and the raspberry wedding cake. No more expensive than any other bakery, and the cake was GREAT! They scored it so it would be easy for our caterer to cut into the right number of pieces, and had it ready right on time! The guests loved the flavors, and it was VERY moist!!
