I think the coordination was the most stressful part of my wedding planning and wedding day. I felt like Melanie’s contract was very misleading. For example in my contract I paid for 15 “combined hours” between her and an assistant. The venue w...e booked only allowed us to rent for 12 hours, so in my mind we should have had a coordinator there for the entire time we had the venue. In the weeks leading up to my wedding Melanie fought me on getting there at the same time my vendors, my bridesmaids and I got there. The contract I signed even stated that she would “receive and coordinate all vendors” So again in my mind, she should be there when any and all vendors arrived. She ended up getting there 30 minutes after we arrived, after several conversations of me telling her I would be more comfortable with her arriving when my vendors did. Another thing, we had Lupe Tortilla cater our wedding, so not a traditional wedding caterer, I was worried about who would cut our cake because I’ve only ever heard of the caterer (for an additional fee) or the coordinator doing it. When I brought this up, it was another confrontation because I didn’t want to be charged by the caterer to cut it when in our contract it stated “Ensure the day runs smoothly and handle any last-minute issues that may arise. Including reception, cake cutting, dances, exit, etc.” The caterer ended up cutting the cake at no charge. Again, this added stress that didn't need to be there for me. There were a few vendors that said they never heard from her, like my cake vendor and DJ. Melanie says she reached out to all vendors, and I believe her. The miscommunication between her and the vendors was an added part of what added to the stress. My mom had to confirm with the cake vendor on the delivery and I had to send my DJ the timeline. This is not a huge deal but we had Chick- Fil- A nuggets delivered for lunch and any time she would come to discuss something with either my husband or me, she would start off by saying “but first, I need a nugget”. Again, not a huge deal because we told all of our vendors to help themselves but if you’re discussing something with the bride, eating first shouldn’t be at the top of your list. I also had several people in my wedding party (bride and grooms side) make comments about how terrible she was running things. Overall, I would NOT recommend Melanie.
