We had a great experience planning our wedding directly with Nicole, the owner. Everything went really well - up until the wedding day. I’ve included below the last email I sent the team, which details the reason behind my rating. Hope this hel...ps any future brides!
Thanks again for your help. We do appreciate the effort, but feel the need to point out that we aren’t satisfied with the end result. I’m sure this is something that happens to a lot of couples as there are big expectations put on wedding pictures that can’t always be met, but I want to make sure my experience is shared in case you want to take my feedback into account for future projects.
To start, we didn’t feel Cassandra was a proactive and involved photographer on our wedding day. In several instances we had to guide her and give her ideas of where to get pictures - particularly in the church. We knew the setting would be challenging, and we did ask for her to join us during our rehearsal so she could get familiarized with the space. We would’ve been happy to pay extra to ensure she could visit the church before our wedding day, in the hopes of enabling her creativity and empowering her to be more assertive and help us get better pictures. Knowing that she wouldn’t visit the space ahead of time and that we would have to figure it out at the actual event, we relied on her expertise as a professional photographer, and the result was subpar.
Additionally, after seeing blurry pictures of moments that were too important to leave out, group pictures with people looking away, and missing key moments of the ceremony makes us really question Cassandra’s expertise. I know it wasn’t an ideal assignment - COVID wedding, having to travel between two locations, just one photographer, locations that aren’t naturally beautiful (believe me, it was definitely very far from the wedding we originally had planned) - but that was the assignment and her job was to help us remember all the amazing things that did happen that day with flawless pictures. Please feel free to share this feedback with her as I can’t do it myself.
That said, while the actual photos were disappointing, our real frustration comes from the editing. As I mentioned before, it’s concerning that the pictures initially chosen weren’t the best ones (i.e. group pictures with weird faces when ones with normal faces were available) and that the filters used were detracting from the pictures instead of uplifting them. Similarly, while I understand that technical glitches happen all the time, if the team is aware of them I don’t see why they don’t double check to ensure all images are uploaded before sharing the final gallery with clients.
All in all, we don’t feel a lot of thought and dedication went into our pictures. On the most special day of our lives and every time we look at the pictures from that day, we feel like we were just one of the couples you work with, which is exactly the opposite of what you promise couples on your website and one of the reasons we chose you to document our day. We’re glad we have some good pictures, but we’ve seen your work from other weddings and know they could’ve been so much better. The reason why I’m sharing this is so you can hopefully improve the experience for future couples that come to you like we did, excited and with very high hopes after seeing the amazing job you’ve done for so many others.
