We hosted a wedding reception at White Oaks on August 17th. It was amazing. Very professional. It was the perfect vibe our couple was looking for and the food was AMAZING!!
This venue was perfect for our wedding. My husband and I got married in May and planned an out of state wedding in northern GA, we live in VA. It would’ve been impossible to get the day perfect without the help of this wonderful venue. They truly have it down to a science. Our day of coordinator was incredible and the food was amazing! 10/10 recommend!
I cannot extend enough gratitude to White Oaks! They were absolutely incredible to work with. They made us feel like family from the very beginning when we did our first tour, all the way through to our wedding day. I truly felt like their biggest priority. I really noticed how respectful their staff was and they all speak so highly of their work environment, which speaks volume to how great the owners are. The venue itself is gorgeous- from the various ceremony sites to the cocktail hour space to the indoor reception area (I believe some of the pictures on The Knot may be outdated). It really is such a pretty venue on its own that I didn’t feel the need to do a lot of decor, but it also looks incredible with elaborate decor. It’s totally your choice and they don’t push you either way! I also have to commend the chef - our wedding guests are still raving about the food. The chef also made some specialty meals for a few of our guests with allergies, which meant so much to us. Overall just truly a fantastic experience with White Oaks and we will be singing their praises forever!
I can’t say enough how perfect White Oaks Barn was for our rehearsal and wedding venue! From the huge bridal and grooms suites, beautiful 360 Mountain Views, and wonderful staff, I loved every second of this weekend! The owners are so hands on, answer any and all questions, and are an absolute dream! The food is all delicious and they made the entire experience unforgettable from start to finish!
White Oaks Barn was an absolute DREAM. The staff was incredible and the owner was very nice. The venue was beautiful and had plenty of room for 170 people to eat, dance, and enjoy. The bridal suite was perfect to send time with my bridesmaid before walking down the aisle. The entire grounds were beautiful and made for an amazing pictures. I would HIGHLY recommend this venue.
I HIGHLY recommend using White Oaks as your wedding venue. From the beginning White Oaks stood out as a must have venue for us. The backdrop of the mountains alone will make you want to get married here. We did our rehearsal dinner at the White Oaks Bistro and the food they cooked was AMAZING. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how tasty it was. We also used White Oaks for our wedding day and did our ceremony outside in the lawn. The pictures and backdrop turned out better than we could have hoped for. Our reception was in the barn and it was GORGEOUS. We did a pasta buffet for dinner through White Oaks and OMG it was SO GOOD. I cannot say enough good things about this venue, staff, and owners. Everyone we met made us feel like family and just loved on us and celebrated us so well. If you are looking for a place to get married you HAVE to check out White Oaks!
I have wanted to get married here before I even met my Husband. We didn't even look at any other venues. I have been to wineries and other venues over the years and Nothing came close to White Oaks Barn. My original wedding date was March 21, 2020 the week of the mandatory nationwide shut down we ended up having to postpone on that Tuesday . My date had sentimental meaning to me Brittney and Robert still let me have my small ceremony of 8 people so that will be forever my wedding day. I am forever grateful for them for going above and beyond to help salvage my day. Brittney has been so prompt on her responses and answer all my questions and helping make my dream a reality. FF to last weekend my actual wedding at White Oaks!!! FINALLY!!
Get ready at the venue spend the money get the luncheon & mimosas the views are to DIE for! Their chef IS INCREDIBLE my friends are still raving about how delicious our food was! It was an absolute pleasure getting married there Robert the owner is the sweetest and I cant thank him enough for all he did for us to make our day special. He really went above and beyond for me and he was present for my rehearsal and ceremony to make sure everything went smoothly.(That should tell you right there what type of venue this is) I felt completely safe with all their covid protocols and so did my guests many mentioned to me how at ease they felt. Get married here the grounds are AMAZING they make you feel like family and their hospitality is out of this world. Thank you again for hosting the wedding of my dreams both of times!
My husband and I got married in September at White Oaks. White Oaks was the first venue we looked at, and we ended up choosing it because of the beautiful mountain views and how friendly the owner was during our tour.
It was the perfect option for us because we are from out of town, and the venue is so inclusive! They have an on site chef, an AMAZING coordinating company that they use, and tons of rentals. It was so nice not having to worry about being responsible for bringing lots of decorations. Brittney and the coordinator made the planning process a dream. They were so quick to respond to emails, and ensured that every detail was addressed. They also provided great recommendations for vendors- florists, cake, hair/makeup etc.
EVERYTHING about our rehearsal dinner (which was on site at the bistro) and wedding day was just perfect. The owner told us that they pride themselves on their food and how talented their chef is, and man was he correct! The food at the rehearsal and reception was delicious, as well as the bridal luncheon the day of. Our special day ran so smoothly, and the owner and staff were very accommodating. Our guests had a great time, and many of them came to us during the reception to say how beautiful the venue/views were, and how much they enjoyed the food.
If you are in search of a venue in the Dahlonega area, look no further than White Oaks! Based on our experience, you will not be disappointed.
We got married at White Oaks on November 23, 2019 and it was absolutely perfect. From the moment we stepped foot at White Oaks they were so accommodating and helpful and that continued on throughout the entire planning process. They were always very responsive whenever I emailed them and they made sure to take great care of us on our wedding day. The venue is so gorgeous. We had planned to get married outside which overlooks the mountains but it rained all day on our wedding day so we decided to move the ceremony inside the barn. It was still stunning and we were so happy with how it turned out! They provide catering in house and our guest raved that it was the best wedding food that they've ever had! I would highly recommend White Oaks to any bride looking for a mountain wedding and can't say enough about Brittney and her family that own White Oaks!
White Oaks did an amazing job. The entire staff was incredibly helpful and professional. They were timely, organized, and so kind. They helped make sure our wedding day was beautiful and as stress-free as possible. Megan was an awesome day-of coordinator and made sure everything ran smoothly. Our budget was important to us as we went through this process and I never felt like White Oaks was trying to hide any fees. They were always willing to openly answer questions about finances and helped us stay within our budget. Everything about our day was amazing at White Oaks from the food, drinks, coordination, decorations, and staff. I would do it all over again at White Oaks!
I absolutely loved this breathtaking venue (in the fall is perfect)! The overlook of the mountains for the ceremony and beautiful barn for the reception is a dream come true. 10/10 would recommend this venue to any bride that needs help with the planning process of their wedding. My wedding coordinator was Makenzie Spivey and she was an absolute life saver. She was on top of things and thought of little things that totally slipped my mind. Loved loved loved this venue and would definitely recommend it to anyone!!!
I would recommend this venue to any bride and groom!! We immediately fell in love with the grounds, the cocktail hour space, the reception area and the bridal suite! Our experience with the owner, the florist (Sarah Warner), the cook and all the staff was just wonderful! Even though there was a couple bumps the day of, everything was perfect! The food was AMAZING and the owner worked with us to make up an alcohol package that worked for us! We have only heard great things from everyone that attended our wedding! It was perfect!!! Book it today!!!
We had an amazing experience at White Oaks Barn. Everything from the venue grounds, the day-of coordination, outstanding food / drink package option, flowers .. the list goes on and on. It is conveniently located right outside of downtown and the transportation company that they work closely with, helps the logistics run smoothly. The owner was flexible when we chose to use an alternate background for our ceremony set-up. We would highly recommend White Oaks Barn!
I was obsessed with this venue when I first saw it! And working with the staff there made me love it even more! Makenzie is OUTSTANDING. We simply couldn't have done it without her. The barn is beautiful and the view is just stunning. I could not have asked for a better venue or experience!
White Oaks staff, Kaley, and Robert certainly earned their five star review for making our wedding perfect the day of. We got married there recently (December 2016) and, while there were changes and a few bumps along the way, the wedding day could not have gone better! Kaley was incredible-- organized, calm, and very attentive. She made sure my husband and I ate and were comfortable throughout the day, and made sure I wouldn't see him since the bridesmaids were upstairs and the groomsmen downstairs in the bridal house next to the barn. The barn itself was stunning. The lights were fantastic and overall the venue was spectacular. The day was foggy and rainy but added drama to pictures and all of our guests were blown away by the beauty of this venue. The food was awesome too. The passed apps were fabulous (whisky smoked salmon and pistachio chicken) and the dinner itself was quick, efficient, and delicious. The staff were great, as were the bartenders. The cleanup, thanks to Kaley, was easy. The reception was held inside, as was the ceremony, and the flip was seamless. The decor, which we modeled on one table, was more than what we expected!
When we first got engaged and started working with White Oaks, Christine was the wedding coordinator. Between the time of our engagement and the wedding date (four months out), the wedding coordinators changed and there were organizational issues (that were ultimately resolved, but caused a bit of panic). I share this out of honesty because you can imagine that I was nervous for everything to work out for the day of and IT DID! Kaley really stepped it up and made sure everything was absolutely perfect. We'd recommend White Oaks to anyone, and know that the organizational hiccup was simply a matter of circumstance and not of professionalism. Great job White Oaks, and thank you for a wonderful, beautiful wedding day!
I had my wedding here a few weeks ago and it was so wonderful! I am so glad we went with this venue! The property is beautiful, the food is amazing, and the staff was great to work with. I would definitely recommend this venues to other couples!
My husband and I could not have picked a better venue to be married! The venue is stunning and the owners and staff at White Oaks are constantly building and improving on the venue to make it even more fantastic than it already is. The food was out of this world and I am so thankful that we did not have to find a caterer as I am sure we would not have been able to find one for the price we paid while receiving the level of quality food we did. Christine Manning, the wedding coordinator, is fantastic and she made my wedding day a dream. She works very hard and is very quick to respond to emails. I was a question asking bride and Christine was always so patient and kind to me. She answered all of my questions and even did extra work when she did not have to. My flowers were done through White Oaks as well from a lady named Sarah. The flowers looked stunning but I think we paid for more than we received and Sarah was hard to make contact with. Christine was fast to correct any problems with that though so overall I have no complaints. I would pick this venue over and over again. Very thankful for a beautiful day that my guests have raved about non-stop since our wedding three weeks ago!
I got married there a couple of weeks ago and it was ANAZING!!!!!! It was everything I ever wanted and more in a wedding. It blew every expectation I had away with how beautiful and smooth it was! Christine is an absolutely awesome coordinator and answers each and every question you have in a timely manor. Guests are STILL talking about our wedding! Thank you White Oaks Barn. My wedding day was a fairy tale!
Best decision I could have made. My now husband and I absolutely loved working with White Oaks and how easy the planning process was. They were so helpful as we live in Atlanta to help us with local vendors to reduce our costs. They looked out for us and what was best and most affordable, not what was in it for them. I truly feel like they partnered with us for our wedding. We got married on January 31, 2015 and actually last minute moved the ceremony outside since it was such a beautiful day. They made it all seem effortless. The location is absolutely beautiful, the vendors were fantastic to work with and the food was so good! Our guests had the best time and best of all, it didn't break the bank. We are so happy we went with White Oaks. If you are looking for a beautiful location, great staff and caring people to work with- go with White Oaks!
Robert and his team gave us the wedding of our dreams at White Oaks Barn in September 2014. The venue is incredible … pristine natural beauty and a barn that was built specifically for the purpose of holding a wedding. Robert was so patient and kind, even though my mother can be a difficult person to work with. He made sure we had everything we wanted and was quick to accommodate. The food was really great - friends were talking about how good the trout was for days to follow. We had the patio tented for our cocktail hour because there was a chance of rain, and though I thought this would take away from the beauty of the barn, it actually still looked great in the video and pictures! Also, I think people were appreciative of the shade. We had an 8 piece wedding band and although there was a lot of concern about whether they would fit, with a stage, and with enough room still on the dance floor for a 175 person wedding, everything fit and worked perfectly!!! I am so grateful for Robert and the team at White Oaks Barn for making things easy for us by being so wonderfully sweet and accommodating. I absolutely would very highly recommend this venue for anyone who is looking to get married outdoors and have a gorgeous barn wedding!! THANK YOU WHITE OAKS BARN!!!!!
My daughter was married in October 2014. The most beautiful wedding I've ever been to (I'm a little biased). Bob and Missy, Sarah and Creston and all the staff did an outstanding job of making sure that every detail was handled like we had planned. The food was delicioius and all the guests were complimenting on it. The views are absolutely gorgeous. It was so nice to work with one vendor on venue, food, beverage, flowers, decorations, tuxes and transportation. It made the day so much less stressful. I would love to be able to do it all again. Thank you for a beautiful day!
I had my wedding at White Oaks Barn a few months back. I have waited to write this review because I a bit frustrated and wanted to make sure I did mention the good out of the event instead of just the bad. My wedding was absolutely BEAUTIFUL and I wouldn't have changed anything. With that being said, I dealt with a lot of headaches before and during my wedding because the venue was very disorganized. I'm not sure if this happens with other venues, but I was promised a lot of things in the beginning when we signed the contract, and they never kept their word on it. For instance they told me I would have the venue all day at no extra cost to get ready in, etc. A few months before the wedding I let them know what time we would be there to start getting ready and they immediately told me I would have to pay more money if I wanted to come before 1:00. There was no way I was paying more money and no way my bridesmaid and myself could get hair and makeup done in that time frame. So last minute we had to make other arrangements. I charged all the expenses from White Oaks on my credit card. Not once did they ever tell me they would charge a 3% fee when using a credit card. I get it, but they need to have that in writing somewhere. Also, I paid extra to have White Oaks be my planner throughout the wedding. Complete waste of money. All she did was yell at guest, she even made a guest go spit out their gum. Yell at the bridal party, and my biggest issue of everything was yelling at my photographers. We were taking pictures off to the side of the barn and their house, and the White Oaks employee came running, screaming, hands in the air at us. She said many unkind words to our photographer about not shooting there. Which we were fine by, but there was no need in the yelling and screaming that came along with it. I believe she even threaten them by saying they have to listen to her because this is her land, again our photographers were very laid back and we simply went to another place to take picture. They didn't even put up a fight. Bottom line, the barn is beautiful and Dahlonega is the perfect place to get married. I think the main reason I encountered the frustrations I had was because White Oaks is a new venue and still hadn't gotten all the kinks out and were not prepared with the stress of running a wedding venue. I am very easy to work with, but dealing with the stress of the venue on top of every other typical wedding stress was a lot. I think down the road they will have a lot more things written in their contract to avoid some issues. It all come with time. But definitely don't waste your money on using their wedding planner. It is cheaper, but a waste of money.
If you are looking for a wonderful venue to have a wedding then look no further than White Oaks Barn. White Oaks was a huge part in giving our daughter the wedding of her dreams. From the moment she stepped foot on the property and saw the beautiful mountains and rustic but sophisticated barn, our daughter knew this was the place she wanted to get married.
Bob and Miss are wonderful, caring people and were great partners in the wedding planning process. They listened to us and treated us like family. The rain came in right as the ceremony was about to start and Bob and Missy graciously allowed all 150 of our guests inside their home to wait out the rain. They also calmly took care of us and the ceremony site behind the scenes until we could proceed. We were able to have the ceremony outside as planned but one of the reasons we chose WO is because they had the BEST back up plan for rain. They move it into the barn and open the wide barn doors to showcase the beautiful North GA mountains in the background.
The food was outstanding and the chef, Ben goes out of his way to create a menu that your and your guests will enjoy. We had a private tasting and we wanted everything we tasted because it was delicious. In fact, I wish I had some right now!
Bob and Missy were very accommodating with us, our guests and our vendors and we feel like we now have friends to go see when we visit Dahlonega. They do not forget about you after the wedding either. We were missing a few things and they have been responsive in helping us locate them and holding on to them until we can get back up there.
Our guests are still talking about how beautiful things were, how much they enjoyed the food and what a great time they had. No wedding goes off without a hitch and there is stress in all the planning but I assure you there is nothing to worry about if you choose White Oaks Barn as your venue. And with all the weddings they are doing I'm sure they will only get better!
I can't say enough good things about White Oaks Barn! From the moment I visited I knew this was the right venue for me. But, what I didn't expect was a truly, magical evening, that surpassed my expectations as a bride.
The owners, Robert and Missy, take great pride in their property. During the course of my 9 month engagement, many improvements were made to the Barn and Bridal Suite that made the venue even more beautiful on my wedding day than the day I chose it to be my venue.
Aside from the insane mountain views that my guests couldn't get enough of, Robert and his staff (shout out to Sarah Warner!) paid attention to every detail and made everyone feel welcome.
If you want a family-owned venue, where the owners go above and beyond, and the mountain views are breath-taking, this is the venue for you!
My daughter was married this past weekend and everything was wonderful! Robert and Missy went out of their way to make sure that all the guests and bridal party were taken care of. The chef did an excellent job preparing the food and everything was very tasty. The staff was very polite and very respectful to all the guests. You get a lot for your money and compared to other barn venues this one was the most reasonable. The location is absolutely beautiful with the North Georgia mountains in the background. The bridal house was also wonderful because there was plenty of room to get ready in and it was a very comfortable setting before the wedding. The day was absolute perfect in every way and I would recommend having your wedding here if you are interested in a barn venue.
White Oaks Barn was a beautiful location and the weather was perfect!
Make sure you have everything in writing. When we arrived to set up before our rehearsal, the barn was trashed. We ended up cleaning much of the previous events decorations so we could set up for our wedding, even though we had extensive communication about when we would arrive and the expectations for the set up/rehearsal day. The day before our wedding the owner started adding extra charges for things that we were told would be included in the venue fee.
On our wedding day we were promised internet access and communicated that to those who were doing audio for our ceremony and reception. On the wedding day the owners told us we were no longer allowed to use the internet that we were promised. We were also promised staff assistance to help with our toast. After dinner the staff disappeared. Thankfully we had an amazing bridal party that stepped up to the occasion.
The property is owned by a family, but the individual family members would make promises without communicating to the rest of the family. This caused a bunch of frustration on our wedding day.
The rest of the day went really well and everyone really enjoyed the location.
Make sure everything is in writing. Even the little details. If you are expecting it, get it in writing!!
My wedding was May 31, 2014 at White Oaks Barn in Dahlonega. The entire family and staff at White Oaks Barn made my wedding the most special and perfect day of my life. The chef is AMAZING and had everyone talking about how delicious the food was. The outdoor ceremony was beautiful, it overlooked the mountains. The reception in the barn was gorgeous. Working with the family and staff through tastings, flowers, decor, and rentals was a breeze and they had everything right there to make it wonderful, you didn't need to hunt for rentals, food, flowers, or decor! This is the way to go for a gorgeous mountain wedding that is stress and worry free! They even give you a list of preferred vendors for cake, hair, make up, DJs and bands! Thank you White Oaks Barn!
If you are looking for a rustic barn wedding in the north Georgia mountains White Oaks Barn in Dahlonega is your place. Robert and Missy do a fantastic job. Our daughter was married there on June 7th, 2014. Everything was beautiful and the barn never looked so good. Our family and friends could not
Believe what a phenomenal job the staff did there at the barn and The food prepared by the on site chef was delicious! It was a picture perfect day. We could not have asked for a better family to work with. Thank you Robert and Missy.
I fell in love when I saw the view. I planned on my ceremony being outside but it rained and it was still great. They opened the barn doors during the ceremony so we got the view I wanted. The food was great and they did two good tastings for us so we could decide from the huge selection of food!
White oaks barn was beautiful and my pictures looked amazing with the great view
I am not a person to write reviews and it has taken me a long time to write this one.. The experience I had with the venue and the owners was so terrible that I try to black it out and just remember the good parts of the wedding day (my other outside vendors, amazing family & friends). I felt it was necessary to write this review so that other Brides/Grooms do not find themselves in the same situation as we did on our one and only wedding day. So here goes:
We booked the venue 12.5 months in advance of our wedding date. At the time, they signed a contract stating that we would also have the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner there. About 6 months later, I (as an eager to plan bride) was curious on the menu options for both rehearsal dinner and reception. I was informed that we would no longer be able to have the actual rehearsal nor dinner at the venue, because they had booked a wedding. No apologies were given for overbooking, just the option to have our money refunded (although we had already sent out save the dates with that location and locked down other local vendors). Ok, I can get over that. No big deal.
The rest was atrocious. They never answered the phone, and it took weeks to respond to emails about when we would have a tasting, the menu/drink options, even the prices! There were so many last minute changes that they had; losing their alcohol license and having to provide it ourselves last minute (at least we saved some money, but what a hassle). Ok, I can deal with bad communication (although a bride should never have to about the wedding venue when there is so much else going on).
THE KICKER: On the day of the wedding, the wedding party wanted to do a single toast before the ceremony. The bartenders told us we were to only drink before the ceremony in the "bridal chalet". Which is what we did. Missy, the owner/owner's wife, came to ME, the BRIDE, FIVE minutes before I was about to walk down the aisle and said "If I find out there was drinking it here, THERE WILL BE NO CEREMONY". Panic arose, but my amazing outside wedding planner said there was no way she could cancel our ceremony with Mothers already walking down the aisles. After the ceremony, the bridal party went to the "bridal chalet" to cool down and freshen up before being introduced at the reception. AGAIN, MISSY came (to my new husband this time) and told him that if she saw anyone smoking (cigars - some of the older men like to have a celebratory cigar on special occasions), there "would be NO RECEPTION". What kind of person talks to the bride and groom like this? Completely unprofessional. Threatening your bride and groom on their wedding day? 5 minutes before and after the get married? Unacceptable. You can't make this stuff up if you tried...
They were extremely unhelpful through the entire event and very pushy. In the 50-degree cold rain, Missy literally pushed my 91-year-old grandmother out the back door onto that slippery covered walkway. Left me speechless that they would treat someone that way. There are so many other examples and events that happened that day that proves they were extremely unprofessional and unresponsive. Yeah, they were pretty cheap when I first booked them. Should have known that you don't get quality service for cheap.
Reviews from guests at the wedding (who did not know about any of this bad things):
Food - Mediocre at best, but I had heard this from several people that attended weddings before. Can't have everything you w
My daughter was married September 2012 at White Oaks Barn. It was a fabulous experience, before, during and after the wedding. The service was impeccable, the setting was perfect, and the lasting relationships we made are the best.
I am a wedding photographer and have had the opportunity to shoot at many venues in the Atlanta area and I have to say White Oaks Barn is one of the very best. From the moment a contract is signed until the last decoration is down after the event, they go out of their way for you. Having shot many weddings and events, I sometimes went overboard on micro-managing and at every turn in the road, they were there to help -- many times saying they would take care of something that was outside of what they had to do. We felt like family and I couldn't have been happier. Many afternoons were spent on the porch of their house (which overlooks the barn), sipping wine at sunset and working on the wedding plans. When the number of guests almost doubled in size in the 45 days prior to the wedding, Bob and Missy pulled out all of the stops and got the job done. They made me so much more relaxed and took care of every detail. With almost 300 guests, an inside wedding, having to flip the room for a sit-down meal and entertainment, they did it with grace and ease while the guests had drinks and hors d'oeuvres on the hill as the sun lowered in the sky. The guests could not have said enough about how lovely it all was.
Their food, their service, and the facility is absolutely wonderful. I have referred several people to White Oaks and many who attended my daughter's wedding have put it on their list for places to consider when they have family and friends getting married. Bob and Missy were the best.
Also, we reserved their hotel, Park Place Hotel in downtown Dahlonega, for family and the wedding party for the weekend. That was also a fabulous experience and I highly recommend the Park Place for any hotel needs you may have. We were able to gather on the patio at the hotel after pre-wedding and wedding events and visit with family and friends. Park Place's staff.were great and made sure our whole wedding experience, from accommodations to the wedding event, was wonderful.
Thank you, Bob and Missy and the White Oaks Barn staff, for the best and over-the-top experience! Oh, how I wish we could have my son's wedding there next year! It looks like a Savannah wedding, but we're not sure yet! So stay tuned!
My husband and I spent several weeks looking for a venue to get married in and when we came across White Oaks, we knew we had found the perfect spot!
The views were spectacular! We couldn't have asked for a better backdrop for our wedding! After meeting with Missy and Bob, we knew that we wanted to get married here. They were such a nice couple and very laid back and easy to work with.
Missy and Bob were great at communicating all through out the planning stages. They were very quick in responding to emails and answering any questions that we had.
All their vendors that they recommending to us were fantastic too! Not one suggestion they made turned out bad- they know what they are doing!
We were suppose to get married outside but that day it was raining and very cold. I didn't want to move it in the barn and I was hesitant when Missy and Bob said we should probably move it inside, but I am SO glad I took their advice! Getting married in the barn was GORGEOUS! The White Oaks staff switched everything around from and outside wedding to an inside wedding in just a few hours, and it looked incredible!
Through out the night, the staff was very attentive and polite. Missy was a great wedding coordinator- letting us know when to walk and what event was next. She made it easy and the entire wedding ran so smoothly!
I feel so blessed that we found them and The White Oaks venue!
My whole wedding experience there was great! I can honestly say that I would have changed nothing, and that it truly was a perfect day.
This is a beautiful wedding venue, but my family & I were not pleased with how several situations were handled on my wedding day. Robert (Bob) & Missy are the owners of the venue. The ceremony is held in their front yard & the reception is in their barn on their property. Bob & Missy were responsive & helpful leading up to the wedding, but on the actual day of the wedding several things were disorganized handled unprofessionally such as:
1. Day of Coordinator(or lack there of): I paid $350 to have Missy be my day of coordinator. Missy didn't attend the rehearsal. She sent 2 other staff members, one of which was very rude. The 2 girls barely told the wedding party anything. I had to tell everyone everything they were saying to me. On the actual day of the wedding these 2 girls didn't do any coordinating. In fact, nobody did because they were VERY UNDERSTAFFED. When the MOB & MOH asked coordination questions Missy told them they needed to "relax & have a drink." I would suggest hiring your own coordinator if you choose this venue.
2. Unprofessional: The staff was rude to the parents of the bride & groom, the wedding party, & guests. Missy told a guest "we have trashcans for people like you." Missy snapped at the DJ & the MOB several times. Robert got onto the FOB for the bridal party drinking after the wedding was over when it was not the FOB's alcohol & they were still at the venue due to lack of organization with THEIR shuttle service.
3. Disorganized: We were told several things that changed in the course of the year I spent planning, so I would suggest getting EVERYTHING in writing.
Examples:
- Bob/Missy also own Park Place Hotel in Dahlonega that several of our guests were staying at. Crestin, their son, expected me to place my guests in the rooms. Why am I supposed to figure out which guests are staying at Park Place, which room they want, & how much they want to spend? Why can't they do it like every other hotel & have the guests call in?
-We were told from the beginning that the guests could pay to take a shuttle to & from the hotel. A couple of months before the wedding we were told we had to put down an $800 deposit to book the shuttle. We argued this & were able to have guests pay their shuttle fee, but really it didn't matter bc nobody checked confirmation of payment on the shuttle
- The shuttle document says that the shuttle will make 2 trips up to the venue & however many are needed to bring guests back. At the end of the ceremony Missy tells the MOG & the WEDDING PARTY that PAID for the shuttle that the shuttle wasn't making another trip back to the venue. In reality, it was THEIR fault for not coordinating the shuttle better. It's not like the guests wanted to stay!
-We were told there was $1.50/slice cake cutting fee & then were told there was no cake cutting fee
-We were told we could not bring in our own alcohol in the beginning & then were told we could 1 month before the wedding
- We were told we could bring drinks to have in the bridal house while getting ready/ 4 DAYS before the wedding we were told we couldn't have any drinks in the bridal house
-We were told the reception could last until 10:45 & ON THE DAY of the wedding Missy says the liquor is getting cut off at 10
- AT THE REHEARSAL I was told to tell my guests no cars could be left overnight when Robert had said otherwise
-Changed time decorator could arrive
Conclusion: This is a beautiful venue, but the staff has ALOT to improve on!
