White Pepper

We cannot rate White Pepper highly enough. Working with them was one of the most important factors in the success of our wedding. Of course, the food was stunning. We had a family-style meal, which was plentiful, well-timed, and beautiful. The chef at White Pepper developed a unique, inventive menu in response to our vision and local seasonal ingredients. We heard dozens of compliments from our guests, who went out of their way to tell us how beautiful and how delicious the meal was. Many asked for recipes, took photos of their plates, and saved the menus! But White Pepper is much more than food. They provided a comprehensive set of services, from planning to execution to clean-up. We sent ideas in advance, and a wonderful staff member Becca created a suggested menu and plan. We then had a consultation and tasting, as well as a walk-through on site, which was crucial for sorting through details. Our reception was in the back yard, which presented some unique challenges. Our point person, Justin, coordinated effectively with rentals and streamlined the setup process (including some last-minute changes to accommodate unexpected weather). On the day-of, we were comfortable walking away and trusting White Pepper with setup (...it was scary). But when we returned from the wedding ceremony, the setup was far more beautiful than what we could have imagined. The table settings were gorgeous, the bar was set up, and everything went off smoothly. During the appetizers, drinks and meal, staff were friendly, professional and personable. They chatted with guests (but not too much) and made sure we all had a good time. The food was well-paced, well-portioned, and delicious. White Pepper took care of moving tables mid-event (to clear space for dancing) and cleaned up efficiently, so that it was easy to coordinate rental pickups during the days following the wedding. Once again, I cannot speak highly enough of White Pepper. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful wedding!

Planning for our wedding, we met with several caterers and tasted their menus to get a feel for what was available. Many of which would have been perfectly fine options, but with White Pepper it was immediately clear they were a step above. We were looking for a plated dinner for our guests and wanted something with a beautiful presentation, and no other company we found came anywhere close to what White Pepper offered. White Pepper was all around very impressive, not only with the taste and presentation of the food, but provided thoughtful questions about our vision for the day and gave us excellent suggestions and feedback. One feature that drew us in right away was their ability to cook on-site. White Pepper’s mobile kitchen and grill really allowed their food to be enjoyed as intended. We met with Susanna to discuss our plans for our special day and to sample their culinary skills. We had a small wedding and opted not to go with a wedding planner, and ended up being beyond grateful to have Susanna. She was always available for whatever questions and menu alterations we wanted to make in the months leading up to the wedding, and was instrumental in helping us figure out the table layout and general flow of the day for our venue. White Pepper’s use of local ingredients gave a rustic flair to our winter wedding. It was beautifully presented, accented with edible flowers that created bright contrasts of color. White Pepper captured our vision of a bountiful charcuterie display that served as much as a decoration as a delightful hors d’oeuvres. Our guests enjoyed garlic brined Marion Acres chicken with a hazelnut sage brown butter or a cedar-smoked PNW salmon with parsley pesto. Both turned out phenomenally. Between the entrees, delicious accompaniments, and generous hors d’oeurves the food was a highlight to our special day.

We loved working with White Pepper for our wedding last fall. I cannot even count the number of guests who said it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding!!! We can honestly say that their food was just as high of quality at our 160-person reception as it was at our two person tasting. Alyssa was great to work with. She was a huge help with the table settings and arrangements -- taking a lot of stress off of us! We cannot recommend White Pepper highly enough and hope to throw another party someday so we can hire them again!

Susanna and the White Pepper crew were fantastic to work with. My husband and I were planning the wedding from out of town and her prompt email responses and communication were incredibly reassuring. The tasting experience was wonderful and made us even more excited for the big day. We chose them over other vendors because of the beautiful presentation and commitment to local and quality food. Our wedding was at a vineyard in Oregon and their aesthetics and ingredients matched our theme and vibe. You won't be disappointed choosing them!

We had already tasted a few caterers before White Pepper and had not been very impressed. Then came Becca and Will, who seemed to understand exactly what we were looking for (and what our budget was). As their kitchen was under construction at the time, Will invited us into his home to sample their dishes... and they had us at charcuterie. Not only is the presentation amazing, but the flavor is too! The sides and entrees were just as outstanding (seriously, try the potatoes). Becca was attentive and helpful every step of the way. She even prepared a small charcuterie board for us to have right after the ceremony. The entire staff was great during our reception. They were friendly and very helpful. We would recommend White Pepper to anyone!

Food was very important to us. We wanted food that represented the bounty of the Pacific NW and be delicious. TheY nailed it! The food really was amazing and exceeded our expectations. I may be a bit biased but I think it was hands down the best food I've ever had at a wedding and had multiple guests tell me the same. My dad, who considers himself a foodie and can be a Michelin guide snob, told us he wanted to eat white pepper’s food again the next night for dinner! I thought the steak and salmon were perfectly cooked which is hard to pull off for 100+ people. Fresh food, delicious beautiful food that’s well executed. I would highly recommend.

White pepper was hands down the best vendor we hired for our wedding day. They are ridiculously good at what they do. Ask for Alyssa! She’s the best! They go above and beyond to make sure your event is perfect in every way!

Since many of our guests were coming from out of town, we wanted to get a catering company that provided Portland style food. White Pepper was the perfect choice for us, since they use locally sourced ingredients and offer things like smoked salmon and a charcuterie spread with meats from Olympia Provisions. We filled out a questionnaire and met with Wil, the owner of White Pepper to discuss menu options and the services that they provide. We did a tasting at Wil's house, which confirmed to us that they were the catering company that we wanted to go with. In addition to doing our catering, Wil also coordinated our rentals (tables, chairs, silverware, table cloths, etc) to the extent that I never needed to talk to the rental company. After our wedding, a lot of our guests mentioned to us that they really liked the food -- especially the salmon and roasted cauliflower. In addition to providing tasty food and great service, White Pepper has great presentation to make their food look beautiful. Also, Wil's wife made a chalkboard sign for our buffet menu, which was a nice touch. At the end of the night, the White Pepper staff was efficient in cleaning up and also packed up the leftovers for us to take home.

The White Pepper team is a class act and dream to partner with. From the moment we started working with them for our wedding, we knew we found the best of the best in Oregon catering. The food was exceptional, tailored to our tastes and needs, and displayed flawlessly. They put the upmost care in all they did, and it showed. We are still hearing compliments from our family and friends about how incredible our farm style dinner was. Moreover, White Pepper provides above and beyond customer service that exceeds all expectations. They are incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, providing guidance on the meal, drink pairings, ambiance and everything in between. Amy worked in concert with our planner seamlessly, making sure we never stressed and always felt confident in their service. Wil and his team prepared a stellar meal that we couldn’t have been more proud of. We cannot recommend White Pepper enough for weddings or other events. We’ll be singing their praise for the foreseeable future and hope to work with them again.

Best catered wedding food we have ever had!! Planning a destination wedding/wedding adventure can be difficult and stressful. One of the hardest parts is choosing vendors, specifically food and beverage catering services. If you are planning a wedding or any other event in the Portland/Columbia River Gorge and want amazing food and service, choose White Pepper. My husband and I had a small destination wedding (25 people) and rented a beautiful farm home in Washougal which could have not been a more perfect location. …. And… were extremely accommodating super helpful. Upon arrival at the farm house after the offsite ceremony, our guests where warmly greeted with a wonderful Charcuterie Board completed with locally procured cheeses, and fruits. While the cocktail hour took place The White Pepper Staff prepped and cooked (onsite) an amazing meal of locally harvested salmon and a delightful pork dish paired with a fresh spring salad, roasted potatoes and grilled asparagus…Delicious. The staff was professional, courteous, prompt, and genuine. The food was outstanding and by far the best catered food at a wedding we have ever had, and it was our wedding. You can’t go wrong with choosing White Pepper.

White Pepper was the highlight of not only our wedding but also the planning period leading up to it. The food was phenomenal. The standard comment from guests was 'nice wedding, the salmon was unbelievable'. I can't say enough about our experience working with Alyssa, in particular. She helped us with the room layout, helped save us money by advising on our rental agreement, contributed to our timeline planning . . . all of which was outside of their responsibilities. Their day of performance was incredible. They were extremely professional. One of the most vivid memories we have of the wedding was the way we were served. We elected for family style serving. I'm not sure how to describe it and do it complete justice but when it was time for dinner, we were served like we were royalty and the entire room had food on the table within what felt like 30 seconds. Very highly recommended.

We can't say enough great things about Wil, Amy and the team at White Pepper that made our day so incredibly perfect! They were professional, accommodating and went above and beyond. Before we landed on White Pepper, Wil invited us to his home for a private menu tasting and by the end we were so blown away with the flavors and presentation that we cancelled our other tasting appointments and booked them then and there. Amy was responsive, flexible and super friendly - even though we were very picky (especially with our 4 craft cocktail recipes) and asked a million questions. They brought their chef on-site to cook everything fresh. The presentation was outstanding: custom chalkboard signs with art that tied into our theme, mix-n-match rustic serving bowls and plates. All of our guests loved the charcuterie and drinks during cocktail hour, they raved about the salmon, brisket and polenta and the late night chicken and waffle skewers were a huge hit! At the end of our event, they had carefully packaged our leftovers and sent us home with delicious reminders of our wedding that kept us full for the next few days. We felt so well taken care of, and absolutely confident in them that it made the day of that much better. If you're catering a wedding, look no further, book them!

If I could give a rating above 5 stars, I would! Wil, Amy, and the White Pepper team are absolutely amazing. They worked with us every step of the way throughout the planning process, and served some seriously delicious food! White Pepper goes above and beyond - They were willing to fold the napkins a certain way to help with thank you card placement (we had a windy venue and were worried about thank you cards blowing away). They also set aside personal to-go boxes for the two of us, in case we didn't have the chance to eat during our event (which was greatly appreciated). White Pepper even provided a beautifully done chalkboard menu - It meant so much to us to have a vendor that not only served up awesome food, but cared about the aesthetics of their displays as well. We searched extensively for a caterer, and are so thankful that we went with White Pepper - One of the best decisions we could've made!

White Pepper Catering was the best! We were so happy that we chose their service for our wedding. The food was not only delicious but beautiful. Wil and Kris were so friendly and helpful through the whole process. Their staff was amazing during the reception. We are so thankful for their hard work and would encourage everyone to use White Pepper for their Catering needs.

I'm normally a tough grader, so getting five stars from me is tough, but Wil and Kris from White Pepper did a fantastic job on our wedding catering. Not only did they provide amazing food that was beautifully presented to our guests, they also went the extra mile and made special mac and cheese meals for the kiddos, picked up all the rentals (glassware, linens, etc.), and then drove across the planet to get a missing linen when the rental place forgot to include it. They had great recommendations (we ended up using a florist they recommended who was also amazing), were extremely prompt in answering emails and responding to questions, and provide a fantastic value for all you get with them compared to some other options. Thanks guys! We had a wonderful day!

Absolutely perfect!! Working with Will Hansen made my wedding planning easier, he made me feel at ease about my outdoor wedding reception and never once did he disappoint. And the food! WOW! We head guest after guest saying how delicious everything was. Special mentions about the Cedar Plank Salmon, Carved Beef, and the homemade Mac n' Cheese were made by all. The presentation was perfect, staff attentive and helpful, and they all went above and beyond to make sure our day was amazing and stress free. One of the things that really made our day special was that they helped us set up our family and friend dessert table. They cut desserts as needed, and arranged everything beautifully. This was not something in their contract, but is just one of the reasons they are the best you can hire. We will hire Will and his team again some day.
