I wanted to like Wild Fern Florals - I really did - it seemed like we hit it off during the first meeting and were on the same page the whole time leading up to our wedding. However, there were just too many missing pieces and an overall underwhelming execution to justify what we paid. Perhaps I should have overcome my fear of being a micromanaging bridezilla and insisted on seeing progress photos and finished pieces before day-of setup.
I ordered a cascading bridal bouquet that incorporated dried flowers from some of our previous milestone bouquets. While the bouquet I received did incorporate the dried flowers, it wasn’t the cascade style I requested. Additionally, the base was thicker than a wine bottle and difficult to hold with my tiny lady hands. Even my dad – who has big man hands - briefly held it before the ceremony and commented about how unwieldy it was. If a cascade bouquet wasn’t possible with the dried flower request, I wish they would have just told me so I could choose an alternate style.
We ordered 9 flower crowns (5 bridesmaid, 2 mom, 1 flower girl, and 1 bride). Instead of a tangible crown that could be taken off and saved as a keepsake, the florist team simply pinned leaves into our bridesmaids’ hair and called it a day. There weren’t any flowers or crowns included in the end result. After viewing my bridesmaids’ hair leaves, I asked when the flowers would be added. Florist team member returned with a handful of baby’s breath, which was an improvement, but still underwhelming. One of my bridesmaids’ leaf & baby’s breath situation fell out before the ceremony & our wedding planner had to fix it. I can’t help but feel that could have been avoided had it been an actual flower crown. Again, perhaps I could have spoken to our wedding planner or insisted the florist team pin more flowers to everyone’s hair.
The boutonnières were too large, busy, and constructed exclusively with feathers and cheap-looking fake plants. Had I known that fresh flowers wouldn’t be included, I would have just assembled the boutonnières myself. We ordered a hanging installation that was to be suspended from the ceiling above the bar (our venue had a scissor lift at vendor disposal.) We did not receive any sort of hanging installation. Instead, the florist team simply weaved leafy vines through the spindles of the balcony above the bar.
We advised that occasional use of fake plants was acceptable under the condition that it didn’t look cheap, tacky, or obviously fake… Yet there were dollar tree metallic gold flowers in the boutonnières and my bridal bouquet. I had a bin of fake eucalyptus, pampas grass, and ostrich feathers I wanted incorporated into the centerpieces. I offered florist that bin of approved fake plants when she picked up the bottles I had for centerpieces. Florist denied the bin and stated that she’d work with the bin contents while setting up day-of florals. Said bin of fake plants, pampas grass, and ostrich feathers was brought to the venue, but nothing was utilized for day-of décor.
While our wedding certainly wasn’t ruined by how the florals were executed, I was (still am) a bit upset with the seemingly flippant disregard for what we ordered and excessive use of cheap-looking fake plants.
We hired Wild Fern Florals/Wild Fern Floral Design for our wedding on 08/24/24. We asked for bright, colorful, fresh flowers, and we did not receive that service. Our floral arch had dark foliage on it when we never asked for it. The corsages that we received were made the day of our wedding with large ribbon, small flowers, and the paper that attached the floral to the ribbon still visible. When we approached the service provider with our unsatisfactory feelings, we were met with unprofessionalism, a complete lack of compassion for two newlyweds, and our private conversations were posted on their social media.
DO NOT BOOK WITH WILD FERN FLORAL. If you provide inspiration photos for four months, do not receive anything close to those photos, and dare bring up valid points for not receiving what you expected, you might get posted on their social media, be treated disrespectfully, and be gaslit into thinking it's your fault that the florals did not look the way you liked them. I've had the opportunity to work with Kimmie for a few weddings as a planner with Your Perfect Bridesmaid, and I love working with her! She's kind and passionate about what she does, and she's a great creative and improviser when needed to make the vision work with any last minute changes. I can send over my couples' design boards I create, and she'll run with it and complete the vision within couples' budgets.
As a wedding planner with Your Perfect Bridesmaid, I can't say enough great things about Kimmie. I worked with her and her team a couple of months ago and not only did they go above and beyond but were an absolute joy to work with!
Looking forward to working together again in the future!
I had the privilege of working with Kimmie for my wedding. I was first drawn to her company because of the aesthetic of her florals, but after talking to her, I was blown away by her creativity and her love for creating. Kimmie stands out as an artist. She creates the most timeless, beautiful arrangements that possess a personality of their own. Her pieces are gorgeous and whimsical. One of the things that truly set Kimmie apart was her willingness to embrace full creative freedom, with the only restriction being a specific color palette. What she delivered went far beyond my wildest expectations.
Kimmie is easy to talk to. She lives a very busy life, but her passion for florals is obvious. Her dedication to her brides is unmistakable. If I were to do this all over again, there's no doubt in my mind that I would choose Kimmie for my florals every single time.
We had a very poor experience working with Kimmie. Before the wedding, she was very communicative and the process of choosing floral design with her was very straightforward compared with other vendors I looked at working with. However, the actual day was a bit of a disaster. She dropped off the flowers at the venue before we arrived. And the quality of the flowers when we got there was such that we would not have accepted the delivery. The blooms were very limp and unhealthy looking and the amount of stems we received was not what we were led to expect. We ended up not using the flowers and rushing to arrange alternative bouquets from our rehearsal dinner arrangements and things we rushed to purchase from Safeway and Fred Meyer. When we confronted Kimmie about this we were told that it was a poor flower yield that weekend. However, we saw photographs from another wedding she provided the florals for that same weekend, and they looked beautiful. When we requested a partial refund, she said that she would get back to us but never did. Overall I would not recommend working with Wild Fern Floral Design.
We had an excellent wedding experience with Kimmie as our personal florist! Her services came highly recommended from your perfect bridesmaid, our planner, and upon meeting with Kimmie we were put at ease knowing she was just as excited and passionate about our concept as we were. Our flower arrangements and table dressings were gorgeous, colorful, and beautifully made and we received many compliments from guests! Kimmie absolutely nailed the whimsical wildflower bouquet feel we envisioned and it was so satisfying to see all her hard work come together. We would highly recommend Wild Fern to anyone looking for extra peace of mind and beautiful blooms on their special day! Photo credit to Katy Weaver Photography!
I was more than impressed by the quality of work Wild Fern floral did for my big day. And Kimmie was such a pleasure to work with. Timely and her attention to detail is exceptional. 10/10 recommend
