I am hesitant to write this review because I am tired from dealing with conflicts and confrontation with the owner of this store, to the point that it's giving me anxiety; I am hoping I do not receive any communication from them after this post.
The staff was average, friendly but not especially knowledgeable--I was helped by an employee and have been working the owner since. I ordered a made to order, custom sized dress. It arrived, and I was excited in the moment and took it home, but when I saw the photos of myself I was shocked. The dress was way too tight, puckering at my hips and not sitting right. It was so tight it looked vulgar.
The owner has implied that this is probably because of me gaining weight, but looking back at our records the store said I was between a size 6 and 8. On my order form they submitted a size 6, this very same order form says "We highly recommend sizing up when your measurements fall in between sizes as you can always take in the dress during alterations," and it appears they failed to follow their own advice. To be clear, my clothes all fit the same and my size has not changed for some 10 years.
I went the seamstress the owner personally recommended, and he said the measurements they took made no sense. The seamstress said to return the dress and not waste my time with alterations because it's the shop's error, and that he would even provide this statement for me in writing if need be.
After a series of emails and back and forths the owner agreed to take the dress back, and I am thankful she did so. However, when I arrived she notified me of a 12% restocking fee. I was upset I have to pay this considering the error was in her shop's part, but the owner said this was necessary because I am not electing to reorder the dress in a new size (would you want to test your luck a second time?). She threatened to not complete the return if I didn't pay, said she was "too busy" to tell me in advance, and claimed she wrote that she was only going to take the dress back if I ordered another; which upon review is false. I paid because of her threat, and I feel lied to and strong-armed. Per my credit card company, signing a contract that finalizes a sale does not protect a company from issuing a refund based on their own error.
The treatment I received, the choice to not tell me about the restocking fee in advance of my visit during our many emails, the suggestion that I gained weight, and the owner's cold, confrontational, demeaning attitude in general has left a really bad taste in my mouth. I would not be writing this review had it solely been a matter of making a mistake; it's also the blame placed on me, and the unnecessary effort and stress it took to achieve a some semblance of a resolution. On top of all of it, the store took no accountability for their errors, and acted like taking my return was some form of doing a favor for me. In the end I still had to call the credit card company to recover the restocking fee.
It is the store's responsibility and a reflection of their values to let me walk out with a dress that doesn't fit me, and stating that I signed a contract accepting the dress plays upon my lack of experience with the bridal industry. It plays on the emotions of excitement that occur when we see ourselves in something special, and it is frankly predatory and dishonest. I have had a few months to learn about bridal, but this owner has had years and should have had my back.
Samira is a GEM and the curation at this boutique is truly unique - they had a trunk show with a designer not carried by many boutiques and I ended up buying the first dress I ever tried on! As a truly average sized human I was a little nervous about the experience bc of all the stigma around sample sizes, but Samira made me feel not just comfortable but also beautiful and when one of the dresses could handle these hips she didn’t miss a beat and kept the experience about me rather than my ~body~ ya know? 12/10
Wildbride has truly unique gowns that you won’t find anywhere else. Samira was great in helping me figure out the right styles.
WildBride is one of the best-kept secrets for San Francisco brides! I live down the block and had been window shopping for months before I finally scheduled an appointment, and I am SO glad I did!
Samira is incredible. She does a great job listening to what I was thinking for a dress, but also asked about our venue, wedding size, and general vibe we were going for to select other options that I didn't consider at first. She was super flexible in working with me on a second appointment when my mother was in town and wanted to dress try-on experience, even though I had gone in and picked out a dress ahead of time! She gave us complimentary champagne and took TONS of photos! The space is so cute and cozy. We were always the only ones in the store and it was the only bridal salon that I actually loved taking photos in during fittings!
I did end up purchasing my gown from Samira, and she was great about communicating during the shipping process as production around the world slowed down due to COVID. She reassured me that everything was still on time, and she let me know as soon as it came in for pick up! She even had recommendations for a tailor, dress preservation, and jewler that she knew would go well with our wedding. It was the best experience, and as someone who was looking for something unique and fun, it was a perfect fit!!
I had a fantastic experience with Samira at WildBride! Booking an appointment was quick and easy online, and Samira emailed and called to confirm and make sure I didn't have any questions before I arrived. When I did arrive, I was extremely charmed by her classy and photogenic shop. It has a cute, minimalist style with huge windows (yay, no unflattering fluorescent lights!) and gorgeous lush plants. Samira greeted my mother and I with offers of prosecco or water, and showed us around her collection. It is a smaller salon, so she doesn't have hundreds of dresses, but all of the dresses she had were gorgeous. She asked me questions about my wedding, style, location, and preferences before helping me select samples to try on. All of her picks were spot on. If you look at her website, you can see that her style of dresses are more bohemian, unique, and romantic. If you're looking for a very classic or formal dress, she might not have much to show you. However, if you're looking in the style she specializes in, everything she has is fantastic.
She was supportive and friendly as I tried on dresses, I didn't sense any judgement from her, and she offered good suggestions about how dresses could be modified or styled to fit my needs. I am busty, and marrying in to a more conservative culture, so concealing the cleavage is a big priority. Some of the other salons I have been to acting like this was impossible, like my body was a huge inconvenience for them, or like I wasn't being reasonable for wanting my future MIL to be comfortable with my dress. Samira didn't question it, wasn't phased, offered ways to make dresses fit that requirement better, and didn't push me towards dresses that wouldn't work.
She asked as I was leaving if I needed help with vendors, and followed up with an email including suggestions for local vendors as well as the prices and details about my three favorite dresses. I love that she's a small business owner and running her own shop. I still haven't purchased a dress, but it is very likely that I will buy from Samira at WildBride, and if so I look forward to working with her again.
Of the 6 different bridal shops I visited while searching for my wedding dress, WildBride was my favorite.
Samira is incredibly thoughtful and her shop is so well set up to provide a uniquely warm, special experience for brides. She only accepts one appointment per time slot so that she can give you her undivided attention. The ability to book an appointment online through the wildbride.us website is a huge plus!
I originally found WildBride through the Watters website while looking for a place where I could try on a very specific dress. I emailed Samira and she responded quickly with a very thoughtful email, recommending two other dresses that matched the style and vibe of the dress I originally asked for.
When I visited WildBride in person I was immediately comfortable. Samira offered water/champagne and showed me the selection of dresses. She was very warm and interested to hear about my dress search so far, looking through photos with me and making more recommendations. She also took many photos of me in the dress that I tried on because I came alone.
She knew that I was most excited about a dress at another shop but she still took her time to help me. Samira truly loves getting to know Brides and help them out. She is not pushy at all!
Although I did end up choosing a dress from a different shop, I loved my experience at Wildbride and would recommend this shop for all brides looking for a unique dress!
