We are so thankful that we booked Wildcat Mountain as our wedding ceremony and reception venue! From our first interactions with Iva and the Wildcat team we knew that they would help ensure our wedding was everything we hoped for & more. We love hiking and skiing at Wildcat, so the venue was a perfect reflection of our interests.
Leading up to our wedding, Iva was always friendly, helpful, and timely in her responses and made planning so easy for us. In addition, the week prior to our wedding the weather did not look promising for our wedding day. Iva made sure to coordinate with us and our vendors to ensure we had a plan for the day. We were also able to have access to Wildcat to set up on Friday and take down decorations on Sunday – it was so nice to have that extra time.
It rained on the morning of our wedding, but lucky enough for us, we were able to go to the top of the mountain for our ceremony despite a little mist. Thankfully our guests were amazing and donned to ponchos we bought to witness our ceremony. While we did not get the incredible views of the Presidential range, our ceremony felt almost mystical and our pictures came out stunning. It was absolutely perfect.
After our zipline entrance (which was so so fun!) we enjoyed the delicious food Wildcat prepared and had quite the dance party. Our guests had an amazing time and the day could not have been any better. We are so thankful for Iva & the Wildcat team for helping us to have the best wedding imaginable.
Iva was the best event coordinator we could ask for! There was significant chance of thunderstorms on our day and she made every effort to make the summit ceremony possible. We chose to zipline down into the cocktail hour and they had thought of everything including a plastic sheet for us to sit on for the chairlift up since it had been raining. Iva was always prompt in answering emails and accommodated every request! We were also able to come in to decorate the day before and pick up our stuff the next day with no hassle. We want to have another wedding just so we could experience the fun of that day again!
If you're looking for a sleek, fancy wedding scheduled down to the minute where your guests will be in high heels and slick suits...this probably isn't your venue.
If you love the mountains and nature, are willing to accept the risks that come with an outdoor ceremony (possibly accessible only by gondola) and enjoy things at a more casual pace, Wildcat is probably more your style.
We locked down our day nearly 1.5 years in advance. With half of our guests coming from the Boston area and the other half coming from all over the country, it was essentially a destination wedding for us...which had its challenges, so I'm incredibly grateful for how flexible and laid back Iva, Nate and the rest of the staff were.
With a late September date, we knew the weather would be a toss up. We ended up with sunny skies, but high winds and a windchill of 34 at the top of the mountain. But you know what's great about Wildcat? You can make last minute changes and it's totally cool. We cut the ceremony in half, got married at the top of the mountain, sent our guests down while we snapped a few quick couples photos and then finished the ceremony and took photos with family at the base of the mountain. We were super bummed we couldn't make our zipline entrance due to cross-winds, but the staff made it up to us with TWO zipline rides the next day. (Speaking of which, the fact that we had the entire next day to clean up was awesome. We made a day of it—cleaned up in the morning, ziplined, went for a hike, had lunch, ziplined again...pretty cool).
We had the taco bar for dinner (HIGHLY recommend, our guests loved it) and a sundae bar in lieu of a wedding cake (another huge hit with our guests). Having met working at a brewery, the beer selection was pretty important to us. Linda, the bar manager, delivered a fantastic selection of local brews including some specific requests. We didn't have a band or a DJ, just a playlist my now husband had curated for months. We were able to plug right into Wildcat's sound system and speaker (pro tip: test the volume the day before if you're planning on doing anything—like your first dance—outside) and recruited a friend to emcee a few events throughout the night using Wildcat's microphone. Again, not many venues will let you have that sort of freedom.
There were a few snags (the arch was not supposed to be set up at the ceremony site and there were some issues with the power for our ceremony musicians) but what wedding day doesn't? The positives absolutely outweighed the negatives. If there's something that's super important to you, just be sure to have it in writing and go over it one final time with Iva a few days before, and it will happen.
Thank you Wildcat!!!
Wildcat is our happy place in the winter. It was amazing being able to have all our friends and family see us get married at the top. Iva single handedly saved our wedding when we were scrambling on where to hold our reception after another venue closed. Her and her team are incredible! The food was amazing!!! The service was fantastic. Thank you everyone (Iva, Nate, the lift operators, everyone that helped with food and drink service)! It was a perfect day!!!
Iva and her team at Wildcat did an amazing job at coordinating and catering my wedding. Seriously there was no limit to what we could accomplish, any idea I had Iva was there to make it happen. The day went flawlessy and the food was great. My guests loved the laid back atmosphere of a taco bar. We really wanted to make the day feel like an experience rather than a typical wedding so two things we took advantage of were having people take the gondola to the top for our wedding (we seriously lucked out on amazing weather), and paying for our guests to ride the zipline. ALSO the drinks were amazing! All I wanted on my wedding day was a good margarita and they did a spectacular job. So affordable and laid back, wildcat was exactly what we wanted for our wedding day. I have absolutely no regrets and so glad we took a chance on a ski resort! Thank you Iva and Wildcat for our dream wedding!
We had our ceremony and reception at Wildcat Mountain and were so happy with everything! They were laid back and easy to work with, and happy to accommodate whatever we were trying to do. The scenery around is gorgeous and was perfect for us hikers and snowboarders!
We hike, we camp, we LOVE the mountains!!! So having the opportunity to have our ceremony ON a mountain, IN the While Mountain National Forest, ON the AT, ON a 4k-er....the choice was obvious. Our guests had a lovely ride up the gondola and a MAGNIFICENT view of the Presidential range (pretty much the best backdrop for a ceremony). Wildcat's staff (particularly Iva and Patrick) were a pleasure to work with and were open to our wacky ideas (like coming down the zipline in our wedding attire). Our bagpiper stood on a rocky mound, our wedding party chilled in the ski patrol shed, our first look took place on the true summit of Wildcat D (a short hike to the viewing platform), and my father waled me 'down the aisle' (aka: off of the AT). The ground is a little rocky.....but it's the top of a mountain and we wanted this rough look. Guests had a BLAST and our photos....I drool over these landscapes.
As with any public/outdoorsy ceremony venue, you need to be ON POINT with planning out the details. My only suggestion for couples-to-wed at this jaw-dropping destination: outline your contract...early. From A-Z. Remember, Wildcat is open to the public 10-5 (are you ok with strangers being present/taking your picture/being IN your pictures?). Confirm timing (after hours operations = hard to schedule + big bucks...oops). Confirm transportation and seating ($8 per person for groups over 20; chairs need transport too: $2 per chair). Confirm your bad-weather plan (if there's a storm, the gondola is closed). Are you ok with this level of 'outdoorsy' (or were you looking for something more polished like a country club?)? Leave nothing to the imagination (the last thing you want to be thinking about on your day is the bill at the end of the tunnel).
We worked with the Wildcat team for TWENTY MONTHS leading up to our wedding (they're basically best friends now) - now THAT is service. Most laid-back, flexible and fun group of people.
