Willow Oaks Country Club

I am so grateful we were able to have our wedding at Willow Oaks. I knew after talking to the wonderful Susan that it would be our place! First of all, like another reviewer mentioned, Susan is AMAZING. She is genuinely kind and cares about making your special day the best. The grounds are beautifully kept up and the inside received a lovely updating last year. The food was absolutely delicious and all the staff was courteous and helpful. All our guests loved the venue and are still talking about the food! I highly, highly recommend Willow Oaks. It was the perfect setting for our dream day and I couldn't be more thankful to Susan and all the staff that worked so hard to make it the best day ever! Thank you!!!

I want to start by saying that Susan Birckhead, the Catering Director at Willow Oaks, is a godsend. There are SO MANY reasons to choose Willow Oaks as your wedding venue, but she is by far and away the best one. The area surrounding the club is absolutely breathtaking, especially in the fall. The trees all around the club really showcase Virginia’s vibrant fall colors in all of their splendor. When we first toured the venue, the only concern I had aesthetically speaking was inside of the clubhouse. However, Susan assured me that they were renovating these things in the months to come. Sure enough, the inside is beautiful now. It features neutral colors that suit any color scheme. Aside from how beautiful the venue is, the service is even more incredible. Every time we went there to show the venue to our friends and family, every single staff member we encountered was not only pleasant, but went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. Did I mention that Susan is the best human on the planet? As an example - something that was incredibly important to my now-husband and me was that our dogs be part of our big day. Unlike ANY other venue we toured, not only did Susan allow us to bring our dogs - she was completely THRILLED to let them be a part of our ceremony. She even allowed them to hang out (not in a crate) with us while we got ready. This meant that I had my fur babies with me while I got my hair and makeup done and got dressed, and it made for some SUPER cute photos. This was just one of the hundred ways Susan made me feel comfortable, confident, and relaxed. Emily, our day-of coordinator was amazing, on top of it, also loved our dogs, and made sure everything happened exactly as I wanted it. Between her, Susan, and the rest of the WOCC staff, not a single wish of mine went ungranted that day. They even sent us home with a WOCC cooler packed with goodies and food for that night in case we got hungry. I never imagined that we would have a staff that cared so much about us, our big day, and our guests. Half of the staff cried during our vows, and then got teary-eyed again during toasts. This is a group of genuine people who do whatever they can to make sure their guests are not just satisfied, but happy and having a great time. In addition to all of these incredible things, Willow Oaks was also the most affordable option of the venues we toured. Not to mention, their package included everything - delicious food options, an extensive and inclusive bar package (that they’re already staffed to serve, mind you), the wonderful works of Susan, a day-of coordinator, and an entire staff to make sure everything you want goes off without a hitch. Their staff set up ALL of our decor, they served the wedding party in a plethora of ways, and they took great care of our other vendors. They had a pretty great selection of decor that they offered to let us use as part of our package, including a bird cage, easels for signage, table mirrors, and even framed table numbers. I am genuinely thrilled with our selection of venue. We had ZERO issues through the entire process, from booking to the day after. Everyone accommodated us in every way we could have asked for and went above and beyond the call of duty. I cannot recommend this place enough, and neither can my in-laws. Do yourself a favor and tour this astounding venue - especially if you’re looking for somewhere to get married.

I had my wedding reception at Willow Oaks Country Club and it was BEYOND PERFECT. Susan, the coordinator, had everything taken care of and was able to really steer me in the right direction during the planning process. We got to use the venue to get ready even though we had our ceremony elsewhere and they had champagne, lunch, and snacks all day for the bride and bridal party. Susan and her team did all the setup for the reception and I wasn't worried about anything. The food is DELICIOUS and a great bar selection. Willow Oaks really is the perfect place for a luxury indoor/outdoor all-inclusive venue for a relatively affordable price.

Willow Oaks Country Club did an amazing job!! Susan is awesome to work with and makes sure everything goes smoothly! The food was great from the lunch while we got ready to the buffet for dinner, all the way to the sliders at the end of the night. The venue itself was gorgeous but the patio over looking the golf course was a cherry on top! Thank you for everyone that helped make our wedding the best day ever!!

I never thought that I would have my wedding reception at a country club. But after we met Sherri and spending a little time on the grounds, we were caught off guard by how much we loved it and how "right" it felt. On the day of, everything, indeed, was "right." Willow Oaks is beautiful. I was drawn to it for its understated elegance. The original clubhouse was an 18th century home relocated from NC, and the colonial aesthetic has been extended throughout the newer areas, giving it a "very Richmond" feel: colonial, historic, elegant, but never over the top. I love the color scheme of the three reception rooms, and the main parlor with the piano is so pretty. For a reception, the three rooms flow nicely into each other so that everyone feels united no matter where they sit, but still offers enough space so that if anyone wants to get away from the loud music, they can. It's a space that can fit over 200 guests but still have it feel like an intimate affair. And the warm lighting adds to the intimate feel. The patio is a gem. It's huge and has sweeping views of the golf course. Depending on how full the trees are, you can see the James. It's great for the cocktail hour, and we had people enjoying it for most of the night. We've had other events before, and somehow evening pictures on the Willow Oaks patio are always gorgeous. But what makes it all really, really worth it is the staff. Sherri was our main point of contact, but we worked with a few other members of the staff throughout the process, and each one was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and gracious. I was planning the wedding long-distance, and as soon as I met Sherri, I knew I could trust her. She's so good at what she does, and her thoroughness makes her like a pseudo wedding planner, ensuring that you haven't forgotten any details. On the day of, when we arrived, she couldn't have been better at putting us at ease. We felt so taken care of; didn't have to worry about a thing. Emily, who works the reception until the end, even made sure all of our bags were in the getaway car, along with a cooler with champagne, sandwiches, chips, brownies, and pieces of wedding cake. All we had to do was make our exit! Toward the end of the night, one of our guests had an allergic reaction to our wedding favors, and a Willow Oaks staff member even drove him to the nearest 7-11 to get Benadryl. I could go on and on. My entire family was delighted with Willow Oaks. We may end up back here when my sisters get married!

The amazing views and quality service/food makes this location perfect for ceremonies and/or receptions!! Sherri, the wedding coordinator, was so receptive to all of my ideas and helped me plan out my day. The bridal party got ready in the main house in two rooms and provided snacks while we got ready. WOCC was so flexible in giving us what we wanted. I really wanted Zeus, my 14 lbs. mutt, in our wedding ceremony. She stated that no one had ever done that before and wasn't sure what her boss would say but was willing to ask him. Having Zeus was a make or breaker and we told Sherri that. She immediately talked to her boss that day and told us he could participate in outside festivities only, which was PERFECT! She embraced Zeus and even took him on a WALK! while my husband unloaded our reception stuff on Thursday of our wedding week. She walked him for like twenty minutes! And even took him in her office so get him out of the heat, and gave him water!! Sherri blew our socks off and I was so happy to have someone like that helping me plan my wedding at WOCC. She was a huge part of our day. WOCC has amazing food, amazing staff who are polite and attentive, and the facility was well kept. We even got a send off cooler bag from WOCC with champagne, a boxed dinner, and two pieces of cake! WOCC was all we wanted and more. I highly recommend this place!

The staff was incredibly attentive and made sure everything was perfect. They made my day completely stress free! The location and food were excellent!

Abby went out of her way to make my wedding day special. Willow Oaks took care of EVERYTHING, and made it so we didn't even need a wedding planner! They provided a day of bridal assistant, that kept us on track all night, and made sure we got something to eat. When our limo didn't show up when it was supposed to, they took the initiative to call and have another limo sent, and we never even knew there was a problem until a few days later!

Everything worked out perfect, it rained so we were able to move the ceremony indoors and it looked beautiful! Every detail was just the way I had imagined!

My mother-in-law threw a wonderful rehearsal dinner here! It had a great patio area that overlooked the golf course so we could all mingle indoors and out! The food was excellent as well!

They get it done, and they get it done right. No detail was left untouched. They run it like a business, they know what they are doing, while working with you to make sure you have your signature touch on the event.

I had originally had my heart set on having my wedding here because it is so beautiful. I popped in just to take a peek around and found that the event coordinator was not busy at the moment. She was not pleasant or accommodating. I felt awkward and like she didn't care to have my business at all. So I went with my second choice based on the fact that the event coordinator was spectacular.

Everything! Gorgeous facilities excellent customer service professional and courteous staff great food!
