Winehaven Winery and Vineyard is an elegant wedding venue in Chisago City, Minnesota with amazing views of lakes, gorgeous hillside vineyards and rows of romantic oak wine barrels. Situated at the entrance to the scenic Chisago Lakes Area, this enchanting winery is just 45 minutes north of Minneapolis and minutes from wonderful hotels and restaurants. This rustic-chic venue is the perfect backdrop to any couple’s dream wedding.
Facilities and Capacity
Couples may host up to 250 wedding guests within Winehaven’s four event spaces. There are four different scenic ceremony locations couples can choose from at Winehaven. The Deer Garden is a beautiful garden location with cobblestone aisles, panoramic views and a hint of Tuscan elegance. It sits between the 40-foot-tall lighthouse and the Deer Garden Vineyard. The Grapewinds Vineyard offers a secluded setting nestled among hills of grapevines, a natural pond and an historic railroad bed that was built in the 1800s. Vintner’s Hall is an indoor option that can host 250 people for both receptions and act as a backup for ceremonies. Guests can admire the oak wine barrels, stone walls, a gas fireplace and panoramic lake views. The second floor ballroom is another indoor option that has hardwood floors, elegant sconce lighting and elevated views of the vines, Green Lake and Lake Ellen.
Services Offered
In addition to having their ceremony and reception at this venue, couples can host their bridal shower and engagement party, as well. The upper floor includes a large, private area where the entire bridal party can prepare onsite. Winehaven's onsite day-of wedding coordinator, will work to make the day a success and be sure that everything runs flawlessly during your event. Winehaven’s 50-acre estate is situated between three of Minnesota’s land of a thousand lakes – Lake Ellen, Green Lake and Lake Martha. In addition, the location is just 35 minutes north of the twin cities, which are home to many attractions, restaurants, shopping and hotels.

During the planning process, I injured my knee, and once again, they were incredibly accommodating and thoughtful. They checked in regularly, making sure I had everything I needed and that I never felt overwhelmed or alone.

Taylor worked with us for the entire 11 months of planning, available via email or phone whenever we needed her. am put into making her wedding wonderful. The wedding was 6/17/17, and the vineyard and surrounding area were stunning. Taylor had just been promoted to the Event Coordinator position and did a great job. Most venues are full of rules and upcharges. The only rule we encountered at Winehaven was to make it a great event.
A few examples of the VIP service we experienced:
• When we came in January, Kyle gladly hiked with us in out in the snow so we could see both outdoor ceremony locations.
• As we were setting up for the reception, Kyle, Taylor, and the team checked in to see if we had everything we needed. Whatever we were missing (scissors, help with the tablecloths, a place to store bins) they were on it.
• Kyle’s mom, Cheri, helped us with the logistics for a surprise flash mob.
• I saw staff touching up the windows shortly before the event to ensure they sparkled.
• We set up for the ceremony indoors because the weather was questionable, but when it cleared, Kyle was fully on board with moving 200 chairs outdoors, even though it meant a lot of extra work, including moving them back in the rain.
• Both Kyle and his wife were at the reception helping with clean-up.
• Kyle and the Petersons have a warmth and joy that permeates Winehaven. He seems to genuinely love this special place and enjoys sharing it with guests.

owned winery, and the family is extremely outgoing in every capacity. A personal, caring touch is apparent in everything they do. Amy, the event coordinator, was there every step of the way and spent the whole wedding day onsite, expertly guiding the entire process. I can not rave enough about the beauty of the vineyard, the large reception hall and the exceptional Minnesota-grown wines. There is a very large suite for the bride and bridesmaids to prepare and wait until showtime. On the big day, I had full faith that Amy and the rest of the family were present and actively working to make the day a success. I was able to sit back and enjoy my day while final preparations were made by the staff. I highly recommend this venue for any bride.

and we think the venue has come a long way since then. In the beginning there was slight confusion with the catering company but all details came together. Amy was fantastic at communicating throughout our wedding process-very personable, friendly, and supportive! Winehaven's building is breathtaking. We had our ceremony and reception on site. Our guests spoke very highly about Winehaven! What we appreciated the most about our experience at Winehaven was the staff's involvement. They were part of the process and made a genuine effort to make sure our day was everything we wanted it to be from start to finish! Winehaven is located close enough to the cities but far enough out where you can really enjoy the rustic charm of Chisago City! The only issue we really ran into is that Winehaven was unaware of a large event going on in the community, which resulted in us having to book our hotel a half hour away, but usually there is a hotel option very close. They did provide us with local services, including transportation, so we made it work. But overall Winehaven is HIGHLY recommended!!! Not to mention they have the best wine in the area!!!

hey were working with even though I know they have countless weddings and events there. They opened the venue early for the wedding party and I to get our hair done in the upstairs area/bridal suite and allowed us to bring in our own breakfast and lunch. We had the whole upstairs for ourselves! Amy Perrin was amazing at answering my questions and coordinating every last detail. She was onsite the whole time to ensure everything was flawless. I especially loved the outdoor ceremony location (incredible pictures, very convenient for guests, and you can't hear the traffic from the freeway) and the ability to move inside if the weather didn't cooperate. They allowed us to bring in lawn games for the social hour and we were able to securely leave vehicles in the parking lot overnight when they shut the gate. The owners even took pictures of our ceremony and texted them to me the next day - they truly go above and beyond to make your day special (and it doesn't hurt that their wine is delicious :) I would HIGHLY recommend!

resent the day of the wedding, brought concerns to my attention and kept me calm and collected :) the only downside I would say would be there size cap is a little off. It says they can have up to 300 guests in the space. We had about 240 guests and it felt packed! I would say the max would be 250 if want to have some elbow room! But out of all the venues we looked at we found that having the whole entire space for our wedding was the best part. From getting our hair and makeup done in the morning, pictures outside, the outdoor patio for cocktail hour all the way to the end of the night, the place felt like it was ours! Another downside was the exclusive caterer they have, Mintahoe. They provided great food but I don't think they were prepared to serve all of our guests, especially at the bar. Overall I would say Winehaven is fitted for a more intimate wedding but I still wouldn't change anything about wedding day! Thanks again Amy!

Kyle and his family along with Amy, the Hospitality Manager, took us in as their own family and were genuinely as excited for our special day as we were. From our first tour the day we got engaged to the day following our wedding, we knew we were in the right hands. We held our ceremony and social hour outdoors and our reception indoors. Their service, attention to detail, support, excitement and love is truly out of this world and unlike anything we've ever experienced. They help with every detail, answer every question as soon as you ask it, and do everything they can to help you enjoy every step of the journey. The location is perfect, the bridal suite is a blast, the GrandStay Hotel nearby offers beautiful accommodations for guests, and most importantly, the experience for us, our families and our guests was something money just can't buy. They are professional, attentive to detail, responsive, creative in their solutions, open to feedback, and full of genuine excitement (which is contagious!).The staff went above and beyond to ensure our day ran smoothly -- even stopping what they were doing to assist certain guests that needed a little extra help walking to the outdoor ceremony site.
