Woodcliff is the most beautiful wedding venue in Rochester. The location is prime and you just can't beat the view. The event center is massive and is a blank canvas for your imagination to go wild! The wedding coordinators are top tier and are willing to accommodate and do whatever necessary to ensure that your dream wedding becomes reality. The convenience of having the hotel right there is a great perk! The communication was easy and during a stressful time of wedding planning, this aspect was extremely important. The staff are friendly and treat you with so much kindness. It was worth every single penny!!
I recently got married at the Woodcliff Hotel & Spa. We did our ceremony there and reception at the Event Center. Overall, it was a good wedding because I got married and our people where there. I am never one to complain, however couples should be aware and cautious before booking.
It rained all day and we had to move our ceremony inside the event center. no big deal. They did a great job at setting that up.. However, the floor was SOAKING wet inside the event center, including next to the dance floor. We were alarmed and let the coordinator know about it. There was NO back up plan to dry up the Event Center Floor in time. Why would you design a floor that can't hold rain???? The coordinator was scrambling, and they had one small rug Zamboni dryer that the very pregnant lady had to push around our whole reception to try and get some of the floor dry. Talk about an eye sore. It didn't work at all. Most of our guests shoes were SOAKED and several people fell while dancing. Including my husband's older uncle. He slipped right on his face and he had to go to get looked at. His dislocated his jaw. The Ambulance had to come. Due to this, there were several things missed along the way, including the coordinator not bringing the guys their flowers for their jackets. Additionally, the coordinator was suppose to stay till the end (11pm) and wasn't there at the end. Therefore, I had to scramble to look for the sparklers. The next morning, we were in charge of picking up everything ourselves in the tent.
Long and short of it- the staff who coordinates weddings are really working so hard when other hotel staff make it very difficult to do so. Beautiful venue-and at the end of the day everything was convenient. It was a big relief to have the venue do our ceremony, reception, food, dessert, after party, and be a place for our guests to stay.
Through the 16 month or so process we definitely had some hiccups and bumps in communications and in staff changes. For example- the hotel booking process is NOT always to the front desk at Woodcliff so I needed to triple check between the guests who positively RSVP'ed for the wedding and the room block, to see who was missing who should be there to have the hotel add these people. I ended up needing to give my guest list to the hotel a month before the wedding to ensure everyone was on the room list. And then on the wedding day, of the ten or so rooms that we needed for that day at least 4 rooms were not ready for family members, including those with small children, were not ready even though they arrived early and guests who arrived hours later were able to check in to a room no problem. There were other bumps that did not change the outcome of our wedding (really it was beautiful and an enjoyable time) yet it changed how I felt leading up to our big day and my stress.
For a less high strung bride- this is a walk in the park dream. And even for a high strung bride like myself everything was taken care of eventually and beautiful- just with a few more anxious hours. At the end of the day- I still recommend Woodcliff for an upscale Rochester wedding
The Woodcliff staff made our wedding day absolutely perfect. I would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone planning a wedding.
I had Leah do my makeup from the Woodcliff Salon and she was amazing. The trial went very well and she tried everything I asked! She was willing to try different things if I didn't like how something looked, and overall, everything came out beautifully!!! So thrilled. Thank you!
It is newly renovated hotel. Beautiful area. Lots of attractions near by. Service was great everyone was very pleasant
We reserved a block of rooms at the Woodcliff for our guests even though we didn't have the ceremony or reception there. I was so pleased that we did because all of our guests had wonderful things to say about the hotel. My husband I also stayed there on our wedding night and we arrived to find chocolate covered strawberries and chilled champagne waiting for us in our room! The rooms were beautiful, the staff was excellent and the hotel was easy to get to. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a nice place in the Rochester area. We were able to get a group rate of
$170/night which was very similar to other hotels in the area that are not nearly as nice.
All of my guests loved staying here!
Although they are quite expensive, it was about the convenience for me. I was staying at the hotel and wanted to be able to get up, take a shower, and run to the salon instead of across town. It worked great because as soon as members of my bridal party were done, they could just walk up to my suite to finish getting ready. My makeup was perfect, even at my trial. My hair was ok at the trial, but my stylist really listened to what I liked about it and didn't like. She made necessary changes the day of my wedding and it was PERFECT!
I Had my ceremony and reception at the Woodcliff - the ceremony site is breathtaking and you can see the Rochester skyline from it. The food and cake were beautiful and delicious, the employees were very friendly and hospitable and paid close attention to detail.
We had a spa day, dinner and night out on the town. We did the pajama party package which included our room, chocolate covered strawberries, personal pizza and 90 minute spa service per girl. The spa was amazing the pizza and strawberries were delicious. One of our 3 rooms had a musty smell and we realized that it was water damage. We called the front desk and they immediately transferred us to an AMAZING upgraded suite. We did not even have to put up a fuss to get this it was just happily given to us. The staff brought out luggage up and were very very nice and accommodating. The customer service was perfect everywhere from the front desk to spa to bar and restaurant. I highly recommend Woodcliff for a bachelorette party :)
We had our rehearsal dinner there, a bit pricey but friendly staff and beautiful area.
I stayed at the Woodcliff the night before my wedding and had my hair done there the next day. They did an amazing job with my hair and my bridesmaids hair. We also got an upgrade on our wedding night because our bathtub didn't work, we were given the biggest suite in the hotel!!
We had our wedding August 2012 at Woodcliff and they made the day beautiful and pressure free! We were supposed to be outside, but it rained and ended up having it inside. We were so happy with the inside ceremony and the reception was beautiful! The food was delicious and our cake was beautiful. Everyone had a great time!
Wonderful room, comfortable bed, great view from room, helpful service.
We had a block of 12 rooms for our guests and they somehow did not have our room booked (the bride and groom!). I had an email confirmation and when she found another room for us, she acted like she was doing us a favor by allowing us to have the discounted/blocked rate (which we should have gotten anyways). The shuttles were not available during our weekend which was inconvenient. And the breakfast hours were not very accommodating. Pretty hotel and nice features, but would have appreciated more convenience.
Although the ballroom is a bit plain until their remodel, it leaves the option for you to have a blank canvas which i utilized. I transformed the room with purple uplighing, teal floor length linens, gold chivaries, purple peach and pink centerpieces with crystals hanging from the vases- it turned out amazing. The thing with woodcliff is that anything they lack, even if its that it snowed in July- they make up for it in their brilliant customer service, their food that people rave about still 4 weeks later- their ability to ahve more than enough servers per person, with extreme professionalism, and their willingness to do whatever they can to work with you. They also have stunning suites that overlook the city that not only myself and my groom stayed in but some of the guests too and everyone was thrilled! out of towners were the happiest with hotel/venue being all-in-one, but it didnt feel like a "prom" venue or something awkward, you felt a sense of lifestyle, elite lifestyle that you were welcomed in with open arms and complimentary valet parking!
Totally worth the money you spend. The view for photos is a amazing. Everything well orginized.
Amazing time, amazing people, amazing food... we couldn't have been happier!!
Everything was exactly how we planned it. The food was amazing!!!Service was incredible!!
Sunset view convenience of having hotel and rehearsal dinner in the same place for out of town guests.;Make sure you're clear on what are 'extras' and what is truly included.
