ng planner or wedding day of coordinator. The bride was the primary contact for planning and for events including the rehearsal dinner. Our rehearsal dinners always end by 9 pm. The bride submitted a time line end time just days before of 8:30. We finally called at 10 pm to remind her of the time. She chose a food truck for the dinner and they had trouble with their generator. Food trucks always use their generators here as they know in advance that we are not set up to accommodate connecting to our service. Luckily they eventually got things going. Sending them off never crossed our mind. She mentions that the chairs were too close to the arbor. We set up all tables and chairs according to client’s drawings or plans. If there are no diagrams or instructions as with this wedding then we do the best we can and use the most common spacing etc. as used by the bulk of our weddings. Chairs were set up in plenty of time and it would have been very easy for us to move if we had been asked. Most guests on leaving our events walk to their cars. The walk is down hill and is lit. We are available to assist with transport when needed and depend on Day of Coordinators to notify us when someone needs transport help. Rules and guidelines are critical to maintain the value and essence of this venue for us and for our clients. Most guidelines have developed as a response to issues we have experienced as a busy venue over the past few years. Our guidelines are clearly explained and documented in our initial agreements. As we show the venue to clients months prior to their event we essentially promise that things will look the same or better when they return. Without guidelines we could not honestly make that commitment. Wifi is available in the Main Event Barn and in both houses. This information is included in the house documents that are sent to all clients well ahead of their stay and we are always available throughout the stay for any and all questions.

ng misconceptions in this review include: “we rented the entire venue for the whole weekend” They rented the Main Event Barn with amenities for 15 hours on Saturday and for $100 the Dairy Barn with tables and chairs for 8 hours on Friday. The houses are accommodations only, have totally separate drives and are not part of the wedding venue. Nothing this couple was told initially, is on our website, or is in their initialed and signed contract indicates that they were renting “the entire venue for the whole weekend” “random other people” The random other people were: the following days wedding party rehearsing in another location and finishing 4 hours prior to the clients ceremony (consecutive wedding days and rehearsals is covered in all contracts). There was one brief client visit on Friday and another early Saturday. The owner himself and additional staff were on site and available to this wedding couple for 8 hours Friday and 15 hours Saturday. “huge rule book” We feel obliged to couples booking here that everything we initially show and promise them is here for their wedding just as they saw it when they toured. To make this promise it is critical that we have guidelines that will help assure that other couples and their vendors do not destroy the venue or the amenities that are part of each agreement. Our guidelines are very clear in each contract including theirs. This client rather than follow the guidelines they had agreed to chose to challenge these guidelines. “words with vendor” Rehearsals here are usually simple and our staff is rarely if ever needed. I was in the Main Event Barn Friday with this client for 2 hours during decorating and then remained there during their rehearsal. The “vendor” delivering music equipment decided that the ceremony site road did not get him close enough so on his own, without asking, proceeded up our wedding path with his large truck and trailer running over two recent plantings there and another where he initially parked. The fragile wedding path is the most important outdoor space that we offer here and requires special care. The groom later reported what had happened. I asked to be notified when the truck and trailer were to be moved again. I was never notified. Once participants had returned from the rehearsal I proceeded to the site and on arrival found that the truck had driven further up the wedding path and the trailer parked on recently seeded grass. On driving off he said “is that ok?” I said “it would now have to be but that I wished someone had asked prior to driving down the wedding path”. He immediately became very angry, exited his truck and approached me within 6 inches yelling aggressively. I told him to stop or we would not be able to allow him back the following day. Worried about having this volatile person back the following day I called the groom and reported what had happened. It became apparent that these clients were not going to take any responsibility for their vendor’s behavior. In retrospect it is clear that this client’s failure to be responsible for their choice of and the behavior of an unprofessional “vendor” had set up the confrontation. They never paid their security deposit per contract so we had little recourse.
