We had a microwedding here in July 2024. From the very beginning Emily was extremely professional and accommodating. From set up to clean up we didn’t have to worry about anything. Our guests really enjoyed how quaint the inn is and being able to walk right across to the beach! The food was delicious too! We used the park across the street for pictures and they came out perfect!
My wife and I were married at the York Harbor Inn in August 2023 and it was a great experience start to finish. Our ceremony was at the Hartley Mason Reserve across the street which was very reasonably priced (through the York Harbor Inn) with breathtaking views of the coast. Our cocktail hour was in the Main Dining Room, reception in the Yorkshire Ballroom, and after party in the Ship Cellar Pub, with a total guest count of ~120.
Emily was amazing to work with and made the process really easy, being available to us throughout the year leading up to the wedding, including answering all our random emails and phone calls throughout that time. Leading up to the wedding, she helped make it very clear which decisions we needed to make and was organized with all the details, including showing us the difference in cost for certain options. She is clearly passionate about the work she does and was very knowledgeable about the different options available to us leading up to the wedding.
We were married on a Saturday and the process for the weekend was simple and easy, dropping off all decorations on Friday afternoon at check-in and the rest was taken care of by Emily's team as far as day of set-up. Emily was also helpful during the rehearsal, making sure everyone knew where they needed to be for the day of. Our wedding day itself could not have run smoother. Every detail had been considered and my wife and I were able to enjoy the day fully! Emily and her team met our vendors as they arrived and coordinated making sure everyone was in the right place at the right time. We loved the flow between the different spaces throughout the night and enjoyed the patio space available during the reception as a place for our guests to step out and get some fresh air.
The venue overall was great and our guests loved it. The variety of rooms available was helpful to accommodate all types of guests and guest budgets. Our guests also loved the location with the beach only a few minute walk down the road, the cozy Ship Cellar Pub right downstairs for grabbing a drink, and the stunning views and walking paths across the street. Our guests also raved about the dinner, with many commenting on how they were used to 'wedding food' at other weddings that was 'just OK' and being taken aback at how delicious the food at the York Harbor Inn was (our dinner options were Filet Mignon and Baked Stuffed Haddock).
Finally, it was so clear throughout the process that the staff at the York Harbor Inn had thought through every detail. There were so many nice touches including cleaning the bridal suite between getting ready that morning and coming back after the wedding and leaving us a bottle of champagne for afterwards. We never felt like we had to worry about oversights or forgetting anything because we were in such great hands!
We could go on and on but are both so glad we chose the York Harbor Inn for our wedding venue and look forward to returning to celebrate our anniversary!
My husband and I were just married at YHI this past weekend and we don't have enough good things to say about the experience. Every staff member was kind and attentive, and Emily, our coordinator, was so patient and knowledgeable as we navigated the planning process. She truly went above and beyond to help us take care of every last detail over the past year of planning. We especially appreciated how attuned she and her staff were to our experience of the wedding day itself, working in some breaks for the two of us to enjoy some food and quiet time together, for example. She interfaced with our vendors so the setup and preparations were seamless and was instrumental in making sure every arrangement and piece of decor was placed the right way. To top it off, she made sure our belongings all ended up in the lovely bridal suite by the end of the night. Our friends and family raved about the gorgeous location, comfortable accommodations, and outstanding service. In retrospect, it was also great to have the wedding weekend take place in a location where guests could "choose their own adventure" during down times, especially with so many beautiful areas to walk and spend time outdoors. I can't even fathom the headaches and stress that working with YHI saved us! If you're looking for an all inclusive yet customizable and flexible wedding venue, check out York Harbor Inn!
Amy and Paul made my wedding absolutely perfect. I wish I could give more stars!
I planned my Maine wedding from Florida and felt supported the entire time, so I knew I'd feel supported the weekend of but I really didn't anticipate just HOW MUCH support Amy and Paul were going to give me. They truly went above and beyond to make sure every single detail (even ones I hadn't accounted for such as food waiting for me in my room) was taken care of.
Our wedding was perfect and beautiful and every single person from the YHI that we spoke to or interacted with was incredible. Re-watching our wedding video and seeing Paul behind the scenes brings me such joy - he is an absolute gem for the amount of work he put in and the pure joy you can see he gets from doing it. I still have members of my bridal party talking about him!
I was so nervous that there would be hidden costs or challenges along the way and there truly weren't any. We planned this completely within 3 months and I didn't feel rushed or stressed out honestly at all. I cannot express my gratitude for such a beautiful and incredible wedding weekend.
It was so clear that Paul and Amy were as excited for my special day and were as committed to making it as perfect as possible as I was. Amy was so kind and supportive from the first email. She told us Paul would be helping us on the day of and I had honestly no idea that someone could be as equally wonderful as Amy was - but they both tie for first here.
Best experience ever!
I wish there were more stars to select! My then fiancé and I decided to have our wedding at the York Harbor Inn (YHI) back in December 2019 after meeting with Paul and falling in love with the gorgeous seaside location. After a few date changes, we were finally able to have the wedding of our dreams this past weekend! Throughout the last almost two years, the staff (Paul, Amy, Bridgit, Cheyenne, and more) have been unbelievably supportive, understanding, and accommodating. They made the entire process a true joy and always told us that our wedding would happen and that it would be great! Honestly because of the York Harbor Inn we had the BEST wedding – the staff made sure all our 100 guests were attended to at all times (including my 93-year-old grandmother). They kept us on time to ensure we had time to chat with each guest and dance too! The Harley Mason reserve made for beautiful ocean front pictures and our guests got to watch the photo session from cocktail hour in the Main Dining Room. We also had an after party at the Ship’s Cellar Pub where we had amazing nachos and were able to spend more time with friends and family. Since our wedding, we have received more compliments about the delicious food, phenomenal service, the beautiful ballroom, and the lovely accommodations from our guests. We would HIGHLY recommend the YHI team to anyone looking to have the wedding of their dreams in beautiful Maine. We can’t wait to go back!
After having to postponed our wedding a year, we decided to downsize our wedding and chose to get married at York Harbor Inn. We chose the “lighthouse package” and had our ceremony at Hartley Mason reserve and our reception in the Hilcroft room. It was literally perfection! The views at Hartley Mason Reserve are some of the best, if not THE BEST in York! Amy the wedding coordinator is beyond amazing! During the planning process she made everything so simple and was so quick to respond to any email. I had 40 guests which is the max capacity for the Hilcroft room. I was a little nervous it would be too cramped with no room for a first dance etc. She was kind enough to meet me and show me the space and make sure it was exactly what I wanted. The day of the wedding she was so attentive to both me, my husband and my bridesmaids. She also set up all the decorations and the room looked GORGEOUS! Better than I could have imagined! Thank you Amy. Paul was also amazing! He was there to help us through the timeline the day of the wedding. Let me just say… His energy is contagious! He was my hype man! If you want to feel like a beautiful bride go see Paul! Haha He brought us a pitcher of mimosas in the morning, held an umbrella over me when it started to rain and he even ran to our room during the reception to get something for me I needed. These two made us all feel so special! I stayed in Suite 408 in the Harbor Hill building. It was so clean, nicely decorated, the bed was comfortable and the light in the living room was perfect for getting ready. The food was incredible! All the guests were raving about it. Not your typical wedding food. The seafood chowder, shrimp cocktail, the lazy man’s lobster and the filet were some of our favorites! The bartenders were so nice (sorry I can’t remember their names) and were accommodating to all requests. The room is too small for a DJ so we hooked up a phone to their sound system and used a playlist from Spotify. No one felt like we were missing a DJ at all. Although the room is smaller it was cozy and it made it easy for everyone to talk and mingle the whole time. Every single guest danced regardless of the limited space and it actually made it feel even more special. I could go on and on but thank you so much to the entire YHI team. I know how hard you guys work but you make it look easy and I couldn’t have asked for anything more!
We had the "Lighthouse Package" wedding at Mason Hartley Reserve / York Harbor Inn for our intimate wedding and we are so pleased that we went with this venue. Paul and Amy are both amazing, and even though our wedding was tiny and there would be another wedding the next day, they made us feel like we were the only wedding of the year. The food was absolutely OUT OF THIS WORLD and everyone raved and raved about it. I think our guests really enjoyed being able to choose from a menu at the reception instead of RSVP'ing to a meal a month before. The service staff was very prompt, friendly, and responsive. The hotel accommodations are amazing and everyone who stayed at the hotel loved it. We also had an electric violinist play, and even though the Hillcroft Room isn't huge, the acoustics were perfect for her amp and everyone could still carry on a conversation. This has been such a stressful process planning this but if I had known how well it would have turned out I would not have needed to worry at all! Everything was perfect.
If you want a fairy-tale wedding, York Harbor Inn is 100% the place to do it! Cheyenne and Paul, Sal + the entire service staff at the YHI helped us create the most amazing evening. Cheyenne answered every question we could pose in record time, all while helping I'm sure lots of other brides!, and helped me plan every piece of my wedding that she could. Paul kept us on our timeline perfectly, and kept us laughing. He checked in with each of us (bridal party + grooms side) multiple times, and stayed with us the entire day/night. He also was around for our remaining nights at the Inn, making it feel like we're family. Sal and the service staff were personable and wanted everything to go perfectly - which is did.
If someone ever says that weddings have to have something go wrong - they've never had a wedding at York Harbor Inn.
Planning a wedding at the York Harbor Inn was the least stressful part of the whole wedding! Cheyenne and Paul are PHENOMENAL at what they do. They are so on top of the details leading up to your wedding and on the day of. I felt completely confident in them, and the rest of the venue. Getting married on the Hartley Mason Reserve was also killer, and having the pub downstairs was great for our out of town guests. Everyone loved stayed at the YHI and had nothing but great things to say about the reception as well. And for the kicker, it's remarkably affordable! I don't know what else you can ask for in a seaside location.
When Steve and I first met with Cheyenne to tour the YHI, we knew this was the place we had to have our wedding. She was so accommodating with all of our questions/requests, her bubbly personality won us over right away and her sense of humor meshed well with ours. The year long planning process was made so easy by Cheyenne and I loved our frequent email corrispondence. She made me feel I was the only bride, even though I know she works with many yearly. Greg hosted a wonderful tasting for my future, myself and my parents a few months before the wedding. We got to trial the delicious food in an intimate setting. Greg made the entire afternoon fun and was very professional. When we arrived for our wedding weekend, we met with our wedding coordinator trio of Cheyenne, Greg and Paul (day of coordinator). They helped us finalize all details and let us relax the rest of the weekend. Paul was my right hand man the whole day and helped to facilitate timing of the entire day. The whole staff was there at the drop of a hat and so friendly. The food throughout the YHI is another thing to rave about- from the included brunch, lunch at the Ship Cellar pub and our late night munchies at the pub. All of our guests have raved about the food, the atmosphere and the friendly staff at the YHI. We cant wait to come back to visit!
I promise if you select the York Harbor Inn as your wedding destination, you will not be disappointed. We toured plenty of properties in the New England area, and no one took the time to get to know my husband and I like Paul did in our first meeting. He asked questions to get to know us as a couple, and even on our first meeting was making suggestions on what the Inn could do to help make our day unique to us. Once we decided on YHI there was NEVER any doubt that we made the right decision. We worked primarily with Cheyenne throughout the planning stages and to say she is wonderful is an understatement. I sent her so many emails over the course of the year and she was always prompt with responding and accommodated all of our requests and anything that couldn't be done, she found an alternative or better solution for us. She's so so so so great at her job. On the day of the wedding Paul and Greg were on site to make sure everything was flawless. I still can't believe how seamless the day ended up being. This was a destination wedding for us, as all 100 of our guests traveled from Pennsylvania and New York to attend. Most of our guests stayed on the property and raved about how wonderful the staff was. My husband and I arrived several days early and we saw Cheyenne, Paul and Greg running around and they always stopped to talk to us and make sure we had everything we needed. Weeks after the wedding, and I'm still getting emails, facebook messages, texts from family/friends who are thanking me for inviting them to the wedding because they absolutely loved the location. I will never be able to thank the staff enough for everything they did for my husband and I. YHI is officially my favorite spot in the world, and I'm pretty confident that you'll feel the same if you get married there. :-)
Paul, Cheyenne, Greg, and the whole team at the York Harbor Inn were instrumental in making our wedding day special! They routinely went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure everything went as smoothly as possible. All we had to do was show up and have fun and we couldn’t have imagined our wedding day any other way!
From the first time we met Paul at the Inn to take a tour, we knew we were going to choose York Harbor Inn. On top of how beautiful the venue is, the staff truly cares for the people they are helping. From the coordinators, all the way down to the grounds crew and the front desk employees, everyone at the Inn was happy to help us in any way they could.
Paul, Cheyenne, and Greg each helped in their own way. Cheyenne helped us throughout the entire planning process, answering questions, preparing things on her end, and making sure all of the puzzle pieces were put together. Paul took over the day before and made sure our day went as close to perfect as possible. And Greg made sure the hall was set and that we had the most delicious food for our special day.
We cannot recommend the York Harbor Inn highly enough for your wedding. They really know how to create the most perfect wedding you could imagine!
My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner at the York Harbor Inn, and we couldn't have asked for a better evening!
Leading up to the event, I worked extensively with the Social Sales Manager, Cheyenne Wright, who was excellent. She communicated everything very well with us, and was very detail-oriented (especially with our unique seating chart!).
The food was very high quality, and the wait staff was prompt and professional (we didn't expect anything less, as we have been to the York Harbor Inn many times, and have always loved the atmosphere there). Cheyenne and her team were very flexible, and allowed us to bring in outside favors and dessert from our favorite bakery, which we were very pleased about.
Thank you, Cheyenne and team, for making our rehearsal dinner better than we could have imagined!
GET MARRIED HERE! The venue is gorgeous, the food is incredible, and the planning crew is the BEST there is. Cheyenne, Greg, and "Uncle" Paul will make everything about your wedding perfect.
If you are looking for the perfect waterfront venue in Southern Maine, this is it. We got married at York Harbor Inn (YHI) in July 2017 and had the most incredible experience. Every single thing was perfection. First, let's talk about YHI's #1 asset: their event staff. We chose this venue in large part because the staff, a team of three, has worked together at this venue for years. That speaks volumes in the wedding world.
Cheyenne is the friendliest, happiest, bubbliest person you will ever meet. We were in constant contact with her throughout the planning process. She knew our wedding inside and out and helped us all along the way. We wanted to bring in a photobooth in a vintage camper, but needed space to park it and a place to plug it in. I sent a video of the camper over to Cheyenne and she was just as excited about it as we were and came up with a bunch of ways to make it work.
Greg is the banquet manager and amateur videographer extraordinaire! We met Greg at our tasting and talked through all the food with him. Ultimately, we selected the salmon and filet mignon. YHI cooks the food to serve, so your food comes out perfectly cooked and hasn't been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. At the details meeting on Friday, Greg asked if he could make a fun video of our wedding and put it on social media. I'd seen his other videos, so we wholeheartedly agreed. The video he made was so fun!
And then there's Paul. Paul is your day-of, go-to guy. He knows his wedding stuff better than any wedding coordinator I've ever seen (and I've seen my fair share). I plan events for a living and had very little trouble handing over the reigns to him on my wedding day. We also just had SO MUCH FUN working with him. He fit in so well with the humor of our wedding party, family, and friends... you would have thought he was with the crew! He treated us like royalty throughout the weekend (mimosas for the bridal party on Saturday morning!). I can't thank him enough for making us feel so special from the moment we arrived to the moment we left.
Notes on the venue itself: we wanted to get married on the ocean, so the Hartley Mason Reserve, a public park across the street from YHI, was ideal. We had a very short ceremony with a lemonade/iced tea/flavored water stand in the park. Our guests loved it! We had the cocktail hour in the main dining room (the appetizers are to die for), and then moved into the ballroom for the reception. The ballroom is decorated very tastefully in gold tones (neutral), with a huge vaulted skylight above the dance floor. We had them string twinkle lights and it looked perfect! And this place is so reasonably priced compared to the others we looked at. You get FAR more than you pay for with YHI.
I'm not sure I can speak more highly of this venue and, more importantly, the staff. The staff were just as much a part of this event as my family and friends. YHI needs to do whatever it takes to keep those three around. We will be going back to visit them for years and years to come.
Cheyenne, Paul and banquet manager were great! Cheyenne must have had 50 plus emails from me during the planning stages and she was always very polite and helpful as well as available to work with all of my million questions! The food was outstanding, the wait staff on top of it, and Paul (the day of coordinator) was superb! He knew exactly what needed to be done to make things run smoothly and he was ALWAYS there when we needed him. They are real professionals at this!! They make a great team!!
The only recommendation I have is for the Inn to provide chairs for the ceremony when it is across the street at the Hartley Mason Reserve. They provide 14 chairs but to rent an additional 35 chairs from other companies cost us nearly 800 dollars because of all the rules at the Hartley Mason (not owned by York Harbor Inn but by the town of ME which made these rules), you can only place items for the ceremony one hour before and one hour after the ceremony so the chair rental companies charged us $4oo in fees plus $4 a chair (garden to match the 14 that YHI provides) just for this type of needy time constrained set up and break down. AGain, this is not the York Harbor Inn's fault but if they had chairs available it would have been a HUGE help! I also mention this in case you need to factor this into your budget because while we knew from the beginning we would have to rent our own chairs, we did not think it would be so much!
Still strongly recommend this venue!! so beautiful and the wedding team is great!
My husband and I had our wedding reception at York Harbor Inn on June 23rd. The entire team at York Harbor Inn could not have been any more wonderful. They were professional, attentive, and so much fun! My husband and I loved meeting with Cheyenne, Paul, and Greg throughout the wedding planning process - they were fantastic and thought of everything!! They truly helped us with everything and our wedding was wonderful! All of our guests loved the food, and they had a great time! The YHI team is fantastic and will ensure you have an incredible experience!
We had our wedding a few weeks ago at the York Harbor Inn and cannot say enough great things about the venue and the incredible staff. Paul, Greg and Cheyenne are the A-team. Our friends and family were so impressed with them. Their support goes way above and beyond the norm for a wedding venue. They were incredibly responsive and helpful through the entire planning process and once we arrived the day before our wedding, they took literally everything off of our plates. We were able to thoroughly enjoy the entire weekend without worrying about a single vendor or detail!
In addition to the YHI's amazing staff, this venue is just absolutely stunning. We fell in love with it the moment we saw it. It's everything we hoped for when we dreamed of our wedding day! The food is AMAZING. At least half of our guests commented specifically that this was the best wedding food they had ever had. Several went above that praise and said it was the best steak they had ever had anywhere!
Finally, we had a small wedding of about 30 guests. While it is abundantly clear that the YHI would do an incredible job with larger weddings (they have a ballroom with capacity for a much larger wedding than ours!) it meant so much to us that they gave us the same care and attention for our intimate wedding. They really made our vision come to life and we are so thankful that we chose this venue for our special day.
York Harbor Inn is absolutely beautiful!! The staff is so wonderful and easy to work with. I am so grateful to their team for making our day perfect!!! I would highly recommend this venue to anyone!! I can't wait to go back!
I got married at York Harbor Inn on 8/13/16. My now husband and I were blown away by the venue the first time we visited. The whole year leading up to the wedding, the staff, especially Cheyenne, were incredibly helpful and were receptive to answering my plethora of questions. The weekend of the wedding Paul, Greg, and Cheyenne worked incredibly hard to help capture our vision and make our wedding perfect. Everyone had a wonderful time and could not stop talking about how beautiful it was. They also raved about the food. I am so thankful to everyone at the York Harbor Inn for making our wedding so amazing. I highly recommend this venue!
We cannot thank Cheyenne, Paul and Greg enough. My husband and I were not big into planning our wedding. We just wanted all our guests in one place having a great time together and that's what we got! Cheyenne worked with us leading up to the event and was SO helpful. She offered lots of helpful ideas and advice, listened to what we wanted and worked with us to make it happen. On the day of, Paul and Greg were fabulous. Everything happened on time and better than we imagined. We were able to take pictures across the street, make it into our cocktail hour to talk with guests, actually eat dinner and have a worry free event. We had about 100 guests and the size of the room was absolutely perfect- no one had a bad seat or was far away from anything. The food was delicious- people raved about the filet and my guests who are vegetarians said it was by far the best veggie entree they've ever had at a wedding. They were very accommodating to family and kids with allergies. We also rented out the ship cellar's pub for afterwards and are so glad we did. Our party continued until 12:30- with delicious food and drinks- in the pub which has a very cool atmosphere. Thank you YHI for everything. We can't wait to come back to visit!!
Now that things have settled, thank you notes have been sent and we have resumed our normal lives, I can actually take the time to look back on our wedding at the York Harbor Inn. I cannot begin to say enough wonderful things! From our initial planning stages, Cheyenne made sure that our littlest needs were met. She was kind and compassionate and let me bother her with a million questions! I wasn't sure what to expect of our small 20 person wedding on a Thursday, but she made me feel as though every detail was so important and I am so thankful for that! On the day of our wedding, Paul made sure I was completely stress free. He sent mimosas up to us while we were getting ready and he made sure that everyone was where they needed to be when it was "go time". He really made sure the day flowed exactly how we had envisioned it and we cannot say enough nice things about him! To Greg and his staff: my guests could not stop raving about the food; everything was so delicious! Again, thank you Cheyenne, Paul, Greg, and all of you at the York Harbor Inn for the most magical day. June 11, 2015 is a day that we will remember forever!
My husband and I knew from the moment we stepped out of our car that the York Harbor Inn was where we wanted our wedding to take place. The inn is so charming and quaint, and it's location is breathtaking. From when we signed the contract (a year and a half before our wedding) to our wedding day itself, I never felt stressed about the venue. By having your wedding at YHI, you get a fantastic team- Paul, Cheyenne, and Greg. My husband and I live in VT so we booked two stays ahead of the wedding: One to do a menu tasting, and one for our final details meeting two months beforehand. Both times we were treated like family. We actually arrived for our menu tasting during a huge snow storm in January and that made the experience that much more fun. YHI is not a bad place to be snowed in! :) Furthermore, our menu tasting was great, and Greg did such a nice job explaining everything to us. The next morning we were able to sit down with Cheyenne and choose the food we wanted to serve our guests while it was fresh in our memory. The second trip we took two months beforehand was also outstanding. Our final details meeting went smoothly and after we left from that second trip, we felt like everything was all set. YHI also requires couples to submit the seating chart and food list three weeks before the wedding so we are not doing those things at the last minute. This was so great because on 6/6/15, I was completely finished with planning for the venue which left me time to work on the DIY crafts like place cards and favors. The day before the wedding, the whole team sat down with us to go through everything from start to finish. They also talked about the set-up for the ballroom and made sure they knew what we wanted the ballroom to look like once finished. However, after working with these three for a year and a half, we trusted them to make the decisions about where our decor should go and they did amazing. The ballroom was absolutely beautiful; Cheyenne has such great vision!
Our wedding day was beyond what I ever imagined. The bridal suite in the Yorkshire House is perfect. It has a living room, bedroom, kitchen, huge bathroom, and an alcove for belongings. In case anyone is worried about size- I had 8 bridesmaids, 2 flower girls, 2 hair stylists, 2 make-up artists and various family coming in and out and we were all comfortable. Every hour on the hour, Paul called to check in and see what we needed. He even brought us a pitcher of mimosas at the perfect time. Before we were dressed, I wanted to order lunch for everyone but and the pub was delayed on opening. I am pretty sure Paul just took our order and made it happen so we could eat beforehand. Seriously, Paul is outstanding. I had numerous people tell me how amazing he was and I have to agree 100%!! The ceremony went off perfectly. My wedding party had hot appetizers and drinks waiting for them upon return from pictures. Greg even got me my favorite type of wine, sauv blanc, so I could have that to drink. The reception was fantastic. Every staff member was so inviting and warm to our guests. My husband and I ate and managed to talk to everyone with Paul's help managing time. Our celebration was a blast! We kept it going in the pub afterwards and that was fun for everyone. I absolutely recommend YHI to those looking for a wedding venue. The staff are amazing. Paul, Cheyenne, and Greg are one of a kind!
YHI will always be a special place for us to visit :)
I had an unbelievable experience here for my wedding. ALL of the staff was top shelf. I cannot speak well enough of this place. My wife chose to have our wedding here because of the wonderful scenic location across the street from the beach. Everything was clean, well decorated, and the people were so very nice. The people who work here are what truly make it one-of-a-kind. Paul the wedding planner was sharp, experienced, fast on his feet, and above all patient. Greg the food services manger made us the most delicious seafood and beef buffet and checked on us multiple times to ensure the quality of the meal as well as to make sure we were happy. Cheyanne was wonderful planning and making sure we had all our details ironed out. My wife and I had the most wonderful experience of our life here and we are so thankful for the YHI and their entire staff for making it as amazing as possible.
Wanted to just have a mini-moon. The York Harbor Inn was perfect for us. We got a room with a view of the ocean with our own private deck. Cute room with a gas stove, flat screen tv and jacuzzi tub. Great little pub with healthy portions.
My husband and I chose The York Harbor Inn for our wedding because it was where we had our first date, and where he proposed to me. Little did we know just how special they would make our wedding. Both Paul and Cheyenne held our hands through the whole process from the day we put down our deposit all the way through the wedding day. Paul kept the wedding day moving along at a perfect pace, and Cheyenne took care of every detail for the cocktail hour and the reception. And Greg the banquet manager kept drinks flowing and food coming. Our guests even commented on how they never wanted for anything! Service was flawless! Not only is The York Harbor Inn a quaint, beautiful, scenic spot, but you get treated like you are family by everyone there. My husband and I couldn't be more happy! Absolutely top-notch!
Had a great outdoor ceremony overlooking the ocean. Indoor ballroom reception. Staff was great. Catered to every need. Couldn't ask for a better group of people! Everything went perfectly.
We had our reception at the York Harbor Inn and we had a great experience. Paul , Greg, and Jillian were our wedding planners and they did a great job keeping us organized and on time. Everyone in charge knew our names and the names of our family members and made sure that our drinks were full and that everything was to our satisfaction. We bought a package that included EVERYTHING and it was so helpful, for we planned our wedding in 4 months and didn't have time to shop around for DJ's, etc. we used all people off of their preferred vendors list and were very pleased.
My husband & I are so happy that we had our reception at the York Harbor Inn!! We had our ceremony across the street on York Harbor Beach and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day. Casey was the most unbelievable wedding coordinator, she went above & beyond for us with every little detail for our wedding. Everything was set up beautifully in the main dining room and it looked amazing with the sun beaming in from all the windows. Paul & Greg did an amazing job in assisting with everything so that the room looked just how we envisioned it to be. Everything was perfect from the service to the food to the decorations. It felt like we were having our wedding at our family's house and not doing business with a vendor. We can't thank them enough for making our wedding day absolutely perfect and magical in every way!!
The York Harbor Inn is the ideal venue for classic, elegant dream weddings. After getting engaged, my fiancé and I began an unsuccessful search for our ideal wedding venue. We visited multiple venues in Boston and Southern Maine, but were not floored by what we saw. I immediately knew that we would get married at YHI even before I got out of the car. The venue and location is breathtaking, but the staff at the YHI is what makes the Inn so phenomenal. We were greeted with smiles, offered refreshments, and treated like family. Paul and Greg are absolutely the best in the business. They answer all questions, provide feedback when asked, and truly enjoy what they do.
We worked for a year to design our ideal reception. We deigned bookmarks, wine charms, creative centerpieces, Madlibs, and flip-flops. Paul and Greg made sample place settings for us and asked us numerous questions about how we would like the layout to look. They are truly willing to make anything possible. On our wedding day, the ballroom took our breath away.
On the day of the wedding, Paul and Greg ensured that we felt special and stress-free. Paul worked hard to accommodate our guests with allergies and special diets. We also had a last minute guest the day before the wedding and Paul found her a place to sit and accommodated her with ease to ensure that I was not overwhelmed. I did not make enough gift bags for our room block and I found out after the wedding that he went out and bought materials to craft identical gift bags for our guests. The Inn is willing to bend over backwards so that things go seamlessly.
The entire wedding staff at the YHI treated us as well as our entire bridal party like royalty. We were given a welcome bottle of champagne, refreshments were brought down to us after the ceremony, and Paul called the bridal suite frequently to see if we needed anything at all.
We had the ceremony at the Park across the street and it was beautiful. We were told from the very beginning that there would be no amplified sound in the park, so we hired musicians, which were fantastic. The Inn worked seamlessly with our musicians, officiate, florist, and photographer so everyone was on the same page.
We truly had the most beautiful wedding that we could ever have envisioned. We plan on visiting the Inn frequently, even if it is just to visit with Paul and Greg.
The YHI was the setting for our reception (we used the restaurant at the front of the Inn - beautiful view). We also had our ceremony at the Hartley-Mason reserve right across the street which, while not technically owned by the Inn, is so close by it might as well be.
Overall our wedding was fantastic. The weather was amazing and the ceremony was perfect -- such a stunning location (we lucked out with the weather too) and the service was great The concierge, the events planner, the director of sales -- so many people we worked with were awesome - no complaints there.
The food was also very good - we heard from guests and overheard guests telling each other that they loved the food (of course, as is typical for brides & grooms, we barely got to eat it).
The only reason why I wouldn't give the full 5 stars (and why it gets only 3 stars on value) was that it did seem sometimes like the owners were tacking on every possible price they could think of (when you're already paying approximately $130 per person plus gratuity (on the drinks), do they really need to add another 2 bucks per person just for one additional veggie side dish? Also, we rented out a section of the pub later that night so some of our guests would have a place to hang out, and that was another $700 just to have that part of the pub set aside. I would understand if that was during peak hours, but we couldn't even rent it until 9:30, when it wasn't exactly packed.
But those are decisions, I gather, that are made by the owners and have nothing to do with the staff. And other than that, I thought they did an excellent job with the space (our flowers looked amazing against the fireplaces and by the windows, etc.) and every one of the servers was pleasant and helpful.
The wedding coordinator, Patty Roche, was the root of all wedding day issues… That should never happen! These are just a sampling of the reasons:
The morning after our wedding they handed us a $500 bill for 11 extra entrees. Why? Because they forgot to feed 11 of our guests and had to rush their food.
During our initial meeting, I specifically asked what option there was with the clambake package for those who don't/can't eat seafood. I was told Chef will put a chicken on the buffet as well. At no point during this meeting, any email (and there were 50+ emails), any phone call, our details meeting or our final meeting did they ask for a head count on those who would prefer chicken.
I made a point to confirm this the day before our wedding. I was absolutely shocked to learn, in the middle of my reception, that my response of "Good, I know of at least three people who can't go near seafood." to their confirmation of the brick chicken was somehow, some way, taken as a head count for chicken. I am still floored and don't understand their logic in the least. That wasn't something they should have confirmed? Or maybe asked? When you say that there will be a chicken available on a buffet, that means it will be as available as every other item on that buffet. As such, if they had done it right the first time, by either asking for a count or preparing a decent amount of chicken, there wouldn't have been extra work. I am not paying $500 for Patty Roche’s bad.
There were a total of 14 guests who needed something other than seafood, that's 26% of our total count. Even if they didn't want to prepare enough chicken to have it available for each guest, they think they can charge me $500 when they didn't have it available to cover 26% of my guests?
That's not even mentioning the part where Patty told my husband that my maid of honor authorized this charge. Is she on the contract? She isn't, so she couldn't have authorized a thing. She simply ensured that my guests had something to eat... Which should have been Patty’s job.
We also paid for bruschetta and crab cakes as our hors d’ ouerves yet when our bridal tray arrived in our holdng room, it was only cheese and fruit. How does that happen? We were all starving by the time dinner finally came out.
I just about lost it when I called my florist, two days prior to our wedding, and found out that the York Harbor Inn had not paid them and they were not planning on doing our flowers. The only reason I even called them was because I lost a bridesmaid. If that didn't happen, and it usually doesn't, I wouldn't have had a clue until my mother went to pick them up on my wedding day and we would have had no flowers. How does that happen?! I asked for confirmation and they assured me on May 11. Where was their follow up on that?
When my maid of honor asked why the cake wasn't being cut, she was told that they didn't know we cut the cake. How did all of their staff miss the DJ announcing, the lights, the music, the amount of pictures, the guests crowding and the cake fight? Just not paying attention? Still? After the cake was cut, how did it wind up hidden on a back table where no one got any? I am floored again that blueberry pie was served to each guest and my wedding cake was unseen by most guests. Where did it all go after? Why wasn't any packaged for me to bring home? I am sure the staff enjoyed it...
We had our wedding ceremony and reception at York Harbor Inn. We chose the venue because of the beautiful location and amazing food. Our wedding day was perfect and the staff at York Harbor did an excellent job. The venue offers great off-season deals as well.
Overall our day was wonderful and the staff did a great job with making the day beautiful. However, the coordinator we originally signed with (who was awesome) ended up leaving a few months before our wedding date and until they hired someone else we were working with the sales manager, who was also awesome. Even after they hired a new person we were told that the sales manager would be the person handling our wedding day which we were happy with. However on the day of our wedding the sales manager was not there. Our day was run by the new coordinator who was not only quite obviously overwhelmed, but abrasive in her demeanor and stress inducing. She seemed like we were the first wedding she'd ever done and we feel like the inn made a bad choice allowing her to run things on her own. She did not provide the guidance during the reception we'd been told we'd receive and rushed us through our portraits. I sent my concerns to the inn and was told that they would use them in training. Overall though, our day was fabulous, the food was wonderful and all of the other service was great. If Patty has more experience (or is no longer there) I might refer other people to this venue.
The most perfect venue we could have chosen for the most AMAZING day. We wouldn't change a thing. Friendly staff, beautiful venue, perfect view. LOVE the York Harbor Inn!!!
My now husband and I absolutely LOVE the York Harbor Inn. The food is always amazing and the atmosphere in the dining room is so cozy. We really wanted the YHI to be part of our wedding experience and decided to have the rehearsal dinner there. So glad we did!
I requested an oceanfront dining area and was given the Peacock room. It was perfect!! Michelle, the Events Coorinator, was great to work with. The food was great, drinks were great and everyone raved about what a wonderful choice it was. I recommend the York Harbor Inn to anyone for their event needs and we'll continue dining there for many years to come!
my cousin mike wedded and receptioned here. it is in york harbor next to a beach, it is grand and the cooks are famous for winning chowder and bisk awards. if your wedding is planned here for outdoors and it rains they will move your party inside. it rained and they moved the whole thing inside. york harbor is always quaint and beautiful. you can even walk through route one, with gorgeous mansions and the ocean to view before you go home. the hustle and bustle in the Yorks in maine is mostly at long sands and short sand, which is called york beach. the old town part called york is historic, and york harbor has an art association, several gorgous churches the york harbor inn, and another inn, we call by an accronym.
Service was excellent, and what a great location!
