Getting the permit was easy and painless, and there isn’t an ugly spot in whole park! My only complaint was that signage is not great there and we actually couldn’t find Cooks Meadow on any map, even though that’s what the permit and websites all referred to our space as. We had never been to YNP before the wedding so this may not be a problem to repeat visitors. It was still a great experience!
Everybody who was involved in planning our wedding did a great job!
Working with DNC Parts & Resorts for our Yosemite Park was possibly as painless as it can get for planning a destination wedding. Lori & Yvonne took care of the hotel rooms for our guests and were always very nice and helpful. With catering, I primarily worked with Janis with the planning. We met with her and spoke many times over the phone and was very accommodating. The weekend of the wedding, we worked with Summer & Carlee and both were just amazing. Such a wonderful team.
My only complaint is this: I feel they were a little disorganized. At the reception, we had no dance floor put down, my cake topper was lost, the room was stifling hot although we were told there would be air conditioning. I also had a globe bowl that they offered to fill with rocks to weigh it down since it got broken in the transit up - that didn't happen.
I'm not resentful or anything because overall the wedding reception was absolutely wonderful (minus the sweltering room - that wasn't fun. I looked sweaty in all my photos before the real dancing even started!). Everyone had a great time, the food was so so delicious and in the end, those little things absolutely do not make a difference in whether your reception will be a success or not. I would recommend anyone in having their wedding at Yosemite.
My mother-in-law used to be a caterer and she says that Yosemite DNC has been one of the most wonderful team of people she has encountered and I agree.
We stayed at the Ahwahnee Hotel for 3 nights of our honeymoon. The scenery was amazing and we had a simply fabulous time. But for the price the actual room and service were disappointing, although the public areas were beautiful and much better maintained than our guest room. The dining room was good and the views there were fabulous. Just seemed like for the luxury room prices there could have been a little more "luxury" included.
My husband and I LOVE the Tenaya. We dreamed of getting married there and we were really excited that our dream came true. Our wedding couldn't of been prettier. It ran so smoothly with a huge thanks to Charlene Kelly and Tim Smith. My husband and I never knew there was a problem, and it even rained on our wedding day, and it still all worked out perfectly. People are still talking about how pretty our wedding was.
Our only complaint is the front desk was extremely rude to us and some of our guests. We were told that we could stay in our board room until the next day, but the front desk told our parents that we needed to be out that night. It was midnight and our families were cleaning out the board room.
Overall I would totally get married there again and again and again. We loved our wedding day and we love the Tenaya. We're already planning on celebrating our anniversary there.
The Tenaya lodge is a spectacular setting for a wedding or reception.
Unfortunately not to many things went right at ours. The reception room was beautiful which was largely in part to our other vendors and those who set up the room. The food was delicious even if it was served cold. Service was way to slow, our dinner which was supposed to last an hour and a half stretched into two hours and twenty minutes. Leaving practically no time for dancing, cake cutting, bouquet tossing, everything was rushed and left me crying. Items were missing from our menu, the fire pit was lit early and coffee served outside without anyone's knowledge. The event coordinator was no where to be seen and she had not even looked at our even until the day before. In my opinion did not care at all about our wedding and was rude both before, during, and after the reception.
My husband and I were greatly disappointed with the service we received at the Tenaya Lodge we feel we slipped through the cracks and were not treated on the same level as larger events creating great revenue. Its not a good feeling to look back on your reception and feel like you were cheated on great memories you will never get back.
Tenaya Lodge provided both good service and a wonderful location.
beautiful!
I haven't been to a wedding out here, but we have had family reunions and other events. It's a great place to go to since your traveling guests will have plenty to do and see, beyond the couple hours they spend at your wedding. (Doubles as a family vacation spot)
Overall the experience was very good. THere was some personnel changes in the middle of the planning that proved to be a bit stressful, but it all worked out in the end. The staff is helpful and courteous. The food was delicious!
You can have an indoor or outdoor wedding. Beautiful grounds...nice people. Food is great.
