My experience with Shellie was fine, but communication and professionalism could have been better. A day before my wedding, there was a hiccup. Although I wouldn't work with her again, the crew did a great job with the tent drapes and lights, leaving them looking lovely.
Shellie was my wedding coordinator and it was not a good experience. I truly cannot say one good thing about the experience, actually. We paid for her full services leading up to the wedding and for her to coordinate with the other vendors as well. I had to coordinate with all the vendors myself and when I met with them they basically had no information from Shellie. She does not communicate and she is not organized. Her documents with prices are messy and hard to follow, when it would be very simple for her to just use excel. She claims she used to be in law school, surely excel isn't too complicated to figure out. A couple of lowlights of the worst things (my wedding was an outdoor wedding at my childhood home) - My mom and I had ordered custom water bottle labels (let's be honest, we planned everything ourselves) and hand placed them onto water bottles. A few weeks after the wedding, I found out we "ran out of water" even though we still had 100+ bottles left over that Shellie forgot about. When the crew came to set up the dance floor, they began to set it up in the wrong location and also wrong dimensions that Shellie and I had agreed on. I had to monitor them all day.
She did not plan nor did she ever give any suggestions to help us. On the day of the wedding, she acted annoyed that they had to set out all the decorations that my mom and I had hand created or picked ourselves. She knew that was the plan all along, yet she told me the day of the wedding that it "wasn't part of the price." She sent a document requesting us to fill out what our choice was for dinner - We had a pasta bar, and I requested her to bring me spaghetti, and instead she brought me fettucine alfredo and also brought the wrong thing to my husband. In addition, she forgot to put out the napkins for dinner (PASTA BAR remember?!?!?) and then she still wanted to charge us for the napkins afterwards. In addition to all of this, she was a terrible coordinator at the Rehearsal Dinner. This is due to the fact that she did not take any time to truly review my plans or attempt at all to understand any of my music plans, etc. Me (The Bride!) coordinated the entire rehearsal dinner myself. In addition to all of this, she convinced us to get all the florals from her instead of a floral shop (you can guess - BAD IDEA). The flowers were just OK & nobody wants droopy, "OK" looking flowers on their wedding day. They also were not the flowers we asked for that she promised she could give us, and we went over this several times and it was documented in writing. But remember, her documents are disorganized and messy, and she can't even bring the right document on the wedding day.
There are plenty of other coordinators in Midland, I would highly suggest everyone stay away from Shellie. And Shellie, I would honestly suggest you find a new job. Best of luck to all the brides out there.
I used this event business to assist with the Daniel Energy Partners Permian Basin BBQ in September. I would not recommend her for any event. She is unorganized, overpriced, unresponsive with reply when you call. I arrived at the tent and layout was backwards, Turf flooring was in disarray: safety hazard, none of the furnishings were in place, one of the AC units did not work and still charged me for the delivery, the bar was damaged and we had to fix it: safety hazard. she charged an additional service fee not included in her quote.
My experience with Shellie was interesting. She met with me fairly quickly for the initial consultation and got back to me a few days at a time. I had to send a few reminders here and there because I would not hear back at times. There was a misunderstanding when it came to a few things in my invoice, such as what an item came with per the photo description and "Delivery/ set/ strike". Items that arrived to my venue on wedding day were not as I expected them to be. In addition, there was also huge miscommunication on how payment would be made as I wanted to pay with credit card all along and was expecting a credit card form as I was promised. I received the form to fill out and sign on wedding day which was extremely inconvenient, as I'd repeatedly tried reaching out to pay prior, much earlier than my wedding day. After speaking face to face with Shellie on all these issues of what I expected, what I received plus the miscommunication, she begrudgingly gave me a fair refund. I apologized for my wrongdoing, to pay 4 days later than promised, as did she for all that went wrong, along with all the miscommunication and we amicably parted ways and will not be working together again in the future.
Shellie is very friendly and helpful with getting ideas started in the beginning. She checked in on me throughout the whole process asking if there was anything she could do, I really appreciated that. We did have a misunderstanding on prices on her services but she ended up honoring the price she gave me, but felt maybe after that she wasn't too thrilled about having to do the wedding. The day of the wedding the wedding party complained they were never really told when to walk down the isle and my ushers did not escort even 25% of my guests down the isle because they were with the groomsmens, which I wish she would've caught that and put them where they needed to be. Not sure if she even knew that had happened but as a planner maybe a little more attention to things like that. Then she did leave wedding and I wasn't aware which it would've been nice for her just to see if I needed anything or whatever but not end of the world. I just felt having a wedding planner was a must but think it after now it's said and done wasn't necessary as I thought.
I really expected a lot more for the price we paid. Shellie did get me in touch with all my vendors except for my flowers and the venue for the reception.
I did not hear or see her until 4:40; my wedding started at 5:30. Items she was to take care of at the church were NOT done. Items that should have been handled by our caterer she took care of; dishes and ice.
Very Disappointed in her service!!
We hired her 2 weeks before the wedding and help us with all the last minute things
