12th Street Catering was hands down one of the best vendors I worked with in my entire wedding planning process.
Initially, I was going to book a different caterer, but that catering company was very challenging to get in touch with and had me waiting 2 weeks past their promised date, just for a quote. With those challenges, I decided to put in an inquiry with 12th Street, and I got a call from the lovely Peter a mere 2 hours later. Within a few days, I had a detailed estimate. We booked them then and there!
We worked with Peter to finalize the details of our catering set-up and menu, and I can't sing his praises enough. We changed our mind a few times, and Peter was so incredible at being flexible, patiently explaining the different options, and was always so kind and lovely to work with. Planning a wedding can be really stressful, but I was never stressed when working with Peter (and 12th Street in general), because they make it a point to provide excellent customer service.
I know they must be really busy, but Peter always got back to me so quickly, and made me and my partner feel like a priority. Plus, the food is absolutely delicious! Numerous people specifically commented on how amazing the food was during and after the wedding, and multiple people said it was "the best food I've ever had at a wedding." They have so many delectable options, it's easy to make your vision into a reality.
I'd whole heartedly recommend 12th Street Catering for anyone planning a wedding, or an event in general!
The food is great, but the process was a nightmare start to finish and they left a big blemish on what was supposed to be the “best day of our lives”.
We picked 12th st Catering because they seemed to be the best bang for our buck, and we quickly learned why after signing our contract and sending the deposit. They filed it under the wrong name, so I got a curt phone call about our check not showing up and had to tell them they’d already cashed it. It was a bad omen and we should have taken it as such.
Over the next few months we tried to set up a tasting but were regularly ghosted by the coordinator they set us up with. She would literally go over a month without responding, which wasn’t the end of the world at first, but when we were less than two months from the wedding and still hadn’t had our tasting, it was pretty nerve-racking. We eventually had to contact our coordinator’s boss to get a response from her. Twice. Then when we finally got the times for potential tastings, none of them fit with my wife’s schedule, so I had to go alone and we reheated leftovers for her that night.
Then on the wedding day they served dinner an hour late. It genuinely ruined part of our big day. And they didn’t even leave us any leftovers! They took it all as well as a bunch of our desserts which we didn’t even buy through them.
I’ve sat down to write this review a few times over the last few months and each time I stop because I get too angry. It’s taken four months to cool down enough to write this. I strongly advise anyone and everyone considering 12th st Catering to look elsewhere. You’ll likely pay a bit more, but it will be money well spent.
12th Street Catering were the perfect caterers for our special day! We worked with them for our Sangeet at Vue on 50 and it was perfect. The dishes (Indian and American mixed) were cooked to perfection! We were especially impressed with how well the prepared all the Indian dishes, in a way full of flavor but with not too much spice! The staff and bartenders were excellent, making the perfect cocktails all night. They even helped us come up with a wonderful custom cocktail. Victoria was a breeze to work with - so responsive and on top of it. We can't recommend them highly enough!
Harry at 12th St Catering is the best!!! We recently got married at PAFA and 12th St was our wedding caterer.
We requested a fully customized menu and Harry absolutely delivered. We had a seasonal welcome drink, a hot first course of risotto instead of salad, Philly themed late night snacks, and (most importantly) our menu was fully plant-based besides one sustainable fish option at dinner. The ability to customize our menu and 12th St's shared commitment to sustainability were exactly why we chose them. Many people in our crowd are more the "meat and potatoes" type so they came skeptical about a plant-based menu, but left very happy. One month later, we are still hearing about how good the food was.
The staff were beyond professional, kind, and efficient. Seated dinner service was so fast and the staff were smiling and upbeat all night.
The best part was that the chef packaged up to-go containers of each type of food for us so we had a few meals worth to live off of as we unpacked and reorganized after we got home.
Lastly, Harry was the absolute sweetest to work with. He was so responsive to emails despite being very busy, he met my parents Sunday after the wedding so that we could pick up some larger decor items, and he personally delivered us our choice of drinks and multiple rounds of hors d'oeuvres right after the ceremony was over.
Thank you 12th St and Harry for helping us throw the best party ever!
As a COVID Bride dealing with postponements and an unexpected venue cancellation I was feeling weary of vendors, but once we contracted with 12th Street and started working with Harry my apprehension melted away. The amazing communications skills and transparency let me know I was in great hands with 12th Street. And then getting to the food, we had such a wonderful tasting, we were blown away by everything and we were given the flexibility to slightly tweak meals to our liking. 12th Street even went above and beyond with their extensive vegan menu since several of our guests are vegan and they were elated with the meals. The professionalism and care put forth by 12th Street help me relax before my big day and I keep hearing from my guests how much they loved the food! If you have the option and 12th Street is on your list do yourself a favor and work with them, you'll be in the best of hands!
And a side note they also catered my Bridal Shower and it was absolutely lovely!
Simply amazing! Audrey from 12th street was such a gem while trying to plan a wedding during covid. She was extremely responsive, helpful, and so sweet. In addition, the food was UNREAL from the cocktail hour until the end of the night. All of my guests were raving about how good everything was. Thank you so much!!!
It felt like a classic bait and switch. Very poor handling of a simple contract proposal.
Through our wedding planner, and after spending time making menu selections, we were offered a contract for a wedding reception package for 140 people. Two weeks later, we were about to sign and pay the deposit when we heard back from our planner that they just realized the event was on the Labor Day weekend Saturday... They need to charge time and a half for servers. (It adds an EXTRA $2500!)
The event isn't ON a holiday, it's on the weekend where the holiday is on Monday. Nothing in the contract says anything about time and a half for holiday weekends. They knew what date the wedding was on, they had it on their customized contract!
Should we assume it was a sincere mistake because someone didn't pay attention to the calendar? (I still find that very unlikely as their business is all about scheduling for events!) But wouldn't you think someone would have picked up on the holiday issue within a day or two? And then missing that opportunity, wouldn't it have been the fair business decision to eat their mistake and uphold a written contractual offer? But no, after discovering their "mistake" two weeks later, they decide I should just grin and pay up? I have no doubt in my mind that if I had sent in the signed contract and deposit, they would have broken the contract later anyway.
In my opinion, that was very unfair business tactic, especially amid a pandemic when the public hasn't been able to have large gatherings for weddings for a year! I wasn't trying to take advantage of them, they simply screwed up and wouldn't stand behind their offer.
The only reason they get 2 stars is because their catering menu sounded phenomenal. Too bad they blew their chance of getting my money.
Victoria at 12th Street Catering went above and beyond when, after rescheduling our wedding twice due to COVID, we deciding to plan a backyard ceremony while we waited for the chance to celebrate with a larger group of family and friends. Receptive to these types of backyard ceremonies, Victoria provided us with a number of options to get the variety of food we wanted,, without the need to keep the food hot or chilled. Who would have thought room temperature food could taste so good?! Our guests loved the steak, galettes, sides, and desserts. Victoria was always clear about pricing, responsive to my questions, and flexible with our needs. I can’t recommend this caterer enough!
They were professional, the service was amazing and the food was delicious. When I decided a week before my wedding that I wanted to have small reception at home instead of restaurant as originally planned I called 12th Street Catering after finding positive reviews online. In a week there were able to help me set up a menu which included vegan options for some family members. The day of I ended up having to move my dinner inside when it decided to rain, but they were able to work with the space and made the dinner memorable. Thank you!
My daughter and her husband live in another state, so it was up to her dad and me to curate the menu for their wedding. It is intimidating to organize an entire wedding when you have never done it before. This is especially true when it's for your child. Laurie B worked with us to organize an amazing menu that complemented the feel/theme of the wedding. Food, flavor and experience were extremely important to the bride and groom and they were ecstatic with the results. 12th St Catering created an amazing experience that our guests are still raving about. They will be talking about the soup shooters for years to come. I would not hesitate to call on my friends at 12th St Catering to help me with my entertaining needs
We had looked at a few other packages and were incredibly excited to see that 12th Street seemed to provide a great set of sophisticated yet crowd-pleasing menu options at a much more affordable price than the other vendors we were looking at. As we went through the process, Harry Pierson was absolutely amazing, from initially talking us through our options before getting ready for the tasting itself. He talked us through a lot of the questions we had to help figure out the best menu options for our guests. We definitely have some friends who are beer snobs, and Harry also helped us make sure we had the right package for them. As we went through the process, Harry was also super helpful in providing feedback on how the entire reception would flow, working closely with our venue to make sure everything worked well for the timeline of the party. He was always super responsive and helpful. Once we were at the reception, everything was great - our friends and families all commented on how delicious the food was and how smooth the service was. Overall would strongly recommend and cannot imagine our day without 12th Street!
12th Street Catering was fantastic to work with!
First, the food. It was awesome! We decided to go with a full vegetarian menu, and 12th Street's vegetarian chef came up with a fantastic list of options to choose from! The mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and zucchini spaghetti were a big hit.
Second, our planner, Rhiannon DiJohn, made our wedding planning process SO much easier. She was responsive, helpful, and really went the extra mile for us. Whenever we had a question or a concern, Rhiannon had an answer!
Overall we were very impressed with 12th Street. They made great food, made sure our event ran very smoothly, were fun and personable to work with, and we would absolutely recommend them for your wedding!
Fantastic food, amazing cake, and an event that went super smoothly. Genna is a calming influence in the chaos of wedding planning, and ensures a beautiful event. She was flexible to work with our budget, and patient with walking us through all our options and offering her advice based on her extensive event management experience. Highly recommend working with 12th Street Catering!
We are so thrilled with our experience with 12th St. Catering. We worked with Marianne the whole time and she was amazing. We were planning our Philadelphia wedding from long distance and Marianne was so helpful, flexible, and responsive to all our emails and calls. She was so organized and helped us think through so many details we wouldn't have even considered. All the costs and payment schedule were clearly laid out in our original contract and there were no hidden costs or surprises. Not the mention, the food was AMAZING! Everything was so delicious and all our guests raved how great the food was. Marianne and the staff were so attentive the day of and made sure my groom and I had something to eat or drink before we could even ask. They didn't get a chance to give us extra food to take with us before we left the reception and one of the servers dropped it off at our hotel for us, which was so kind and thoughtful!! We were so impressed with everything and I highly, highly recommend choosing 12th St. as your wedding caterer.
OMG. Our favorite vendor was Lisa from 12th Street Catering. She made it so easy, and never once pressured us or made us feel like we were being taken for a ride, as it sometimes feels in wedding world. Their food is AH.MAZE.ING. and you can choose from an insanely extensive set of menus with cuisine from around the world. If you want something they don't have, they'll make it. AND they are affordable. It really seemed like everyone we met there loved their jobs, and it showed. When we said goodbye to Lisa at the end of our reception, she was so sweet and told us to call her to cater the baby shower one day. THAT'S not going to happen for a while, but we are looking forward to finding an excuse to hire 12th Street again! Best parts besides the food itself and Lisa: of course they have you buy your own booze and they serve it, like many caterers in Philadelphia, so that saves you money. If you have a buffet like we did, they'll also arrange your food in beautiful way- I can't explain it well- like they will provide little decorations to make your food presentation fit the vibe of the location free of charge. AND, Lisa was a endless source of general wedding advice whenever we asked her opinion, being an expert on the topic from all the events they do and her own recent wedding as well.
This food is so great especially the key lime cheesecake and the staff is so easy to work with!!
12th Street Catering was one of 2 caterers we could choose for our space, and it was much less expensive than the other, so our pocketbooks chose them. We were pleasantly surprised by how wonderful the food was and how accommodating their service was. Everyone was friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, hot, and there was plenty of it. It also helped out our budget that they had us get the liquor. Overall, great!
