I initially had to convince my husband that we should hire a day-of coordinator. Now that our wedding has passed, I’m sure he wouldn’t give it a second thought, because hiring AMAVI Wedding Events & Coordination was one of the best decisions we... made throughout the planning process.
We went with the wedding day package, which consisted of two consultations plus a venue walk-through, a wedding day timeline, and oversight of our ceremony and reception (including decorating, set-up, and break-down for the ceremony and reception). Although Hannah was our actual coordinator on the day of, Brooke was also involved throughout the process and was present during the first two consultations, so it was almost like we got two coordinators for the price of one.
Honestly though, I don’t know what I would have done without Hannah. On the morning of the wedding, shortly after my family, bridal party, and I arrived at the venue, the makeup artist I had hired—who was also roughly 7 months pregnant—had a medical emergency, and I had to call 911 so she could be taken to the hospital. Fortunately, the makeup artist and her baby are both OK, but understandably this created a bit of crisis on the wedding day. Not only did Hannah help keep everyone calm, but her and Brooke also tried their hardest to find me a replacement makeup artist. When our hair stylist ended up expertly pulling off everyone’s makeup, Hannah even stepped in and applied the false eyelashes for myself, my mom, and my two maids of honor—all while pouring me mimosas and keeping everyone's energy as upbeat as possible given the circumstances.
In between this, Hannah also managed to beautifully decorate the ceremony and reception spaces and help direct all the other vendors, letting them know where to go and what needed to be done. She was there taking down and packing our decorations well after the reception ended, too, and I can’t even imagine how long of a day she had—especially considering she was already at the venue when I arrived early in the morning on the wedding day.
All in all, she went so far above and beyond the call of duty, and if this isn’t a lesson to hire a day-of coordinator, I don’t know what is. Hire AMAVI and work with Hannah or Brooke—it’ll be one of the best choices you can make for yourself while wedding planning.
