the sample sizes to have a better sense of the style, fabric, and color in-person. I would highly recommend ordering your dress at least 4-6 months in advance of your event to permit time for production and then alterations near you. I would also budget accordingly for alterations. not fit so a substitute had to be found a week before the wedding. As for the wedding dress, after numerous redos the bride's dress arrived the Friday before the Sunday wedding by train, delivered by Terry to the mother of bride who was waiting at the station with fresh biscotti as a thank you. He handed it over like it was radioactive...it was! The dress wasn't hemmed. We have photos of the bride walking down the aisle with the inside of the hem upturned and failing. A disgrace. When I reached out to the company for an apology I got none. This disaster with Amsale almost ruined the weekend, but the bride was resilient, happy to be having a wedding at last and gorgeous despite the problems.

tastic job turning what we told her we liked into dresses that complimented their bodies and fit their personalities. She encouraged them to try cuts and fabrics they hadn’t considered which looked amazing and they both ended up buying dresses that she selected.
Shaondel not only had dresses available in larger sizes but also displayed a level of compassion and patience that helped my sisters find dresses that made them feel beautiful. She was exceptional to work with and made what can sometimes feel like a demoralizing experience actually fun! They provided one of the girls in the party the completely wrong size dress based on her measurements and a replacement wasn’t received until 10 days before the wedding day, leaving zero time for any further alterations. I will say their dresses are long which is a nice change of pace to not have to pay for extra length if your 5’8 or taller. Sure the dresses are nice but you can find very similar ones through other designers so it’s not worth the headache. When you are spending so much money, especially with large wedding parties you think you’d be treated with certain care.

l when I was deciding which gown to purchase. However, I will warn you that the alteration process at Amsale was a bit unnerving. When I came in for my second fitting the woman who helped with my first fitting was not there. The alterations I had discussed with her had not been done and no one else even knew what alterations I had requested at the first fitting. I re-explained the alternations I had discussed at the first fitting, and everything worked out well in the end, but it made me nervous and that is not a feeling you want so soon before your wedding. I will also warn you that the customer service for bridesmaids does not seem to be as good as for the brides. My bridesmaids received some mixed messages over which size to purchase, and when we came in to try on bridesmaid dresses we did not receive a lot of attention from our consultant. All caveats aside, I LOVED my dress and the bridesmaids looked fantastic, so I would recommend stopping by Amsale on your search for your wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses.

work when I went in to the showroom to try on the dress, and it still doesn't work 8 weeks later. Also if you're planning on going to the showroom to find your fit - don't waste your time! They only have size 4 and size 14 in the showroom, so if you are in-between they just guess at your size. Might as well save yourself the headache and mail in your measurements to get your overpriced bridesmaid dress.
If you are a bride - don't subject your bridesmaids to this misery! Go with David's bridal they're dresses are the SAME quality and much cheaper or BHLDN or really anything else. They have a captive audience in bridesmaids, but they really don't need to go out of their way to treat you as such.

Although our experience was good with my first daughter's wedding, the Amsale group just surpassed expectation. Rula the very talented seamstress was continually supportive, accommodating and patient throughout our countless fittings. We were at the salon often. There was never a frenzied moment. Dia our sales person was just lovely and so creative. Terry, the principal manager was always helpful. Someone was always there to answer the phone, and we were called back immediately, when needed. They were extremely professional in how they handled every part of this experience. If you want a calm and relaxed wedding gown experience and want the confidence of being in good hands go to Amsale.

n a dozen dresses and zeroing in on a favorite, mother and I left the salon to look at my previous favorite dress, at Wedding Atelier. I decided that the Houston was "the one" that same day. The salon stayed open late so that we could sweep back in and try on the dress again, and then they served us champagne. It was a dream! The tailoring experience was equally smooth. Unlike some other places, the price of tailoring is included in the price of the dress, and I believe you get as many tailoring sessions as you wish (I went three times). I went to SO many shops before finding Amsale (including Wedding Atelier, Lovely Bride, Gabriella, Jenny Yoo, and Karen Willis Holmes), and Amsale is head and shoulders above the rest. The dresses are in great condition, there's a wide variety of styles, and the service is amazing. A++.

2 - They ignored budget. I told them my budget (it is a fair budget) and that we were not flexible. She brought out dresses that were a lot over and suggested we "move money around from things like flowers."
Some of the dresses were gorgeous, but without being able to tell how they would really fit, there was absolutely no way to even think about spending that kind of money on a dress...

on madison is a smaller boutique where you arent given a time limit or only allowed to try on a certain number of dresses... I was allowed the time i needed and it was so nice to be given some champagne to toast the selection of my wedding gown! r's store and I was able to purchase the dress before they discontinued it. The store is amazing. I had all of my appointments on Tuesday mornings. I highly recommend going on that day as the salon is closed on Monday and they are slow. They make you feel like you are the only bride in the store. Alterations were great too!

s a bit of a different story. I had ordered a belt to go with the dress, which was promised to me on my first fitting. When it wasn't ready then, I was told that it would most definitely be ready by the second fitting, which also didn't happen. It was ready a week later, and was fitted and altered on my last fitting (talk about last minute) a week before the wedding. When I came to pick up the dress the day prior to getting married, we noticed that there were still pins in the dress and alterations that I had asked to be made had not yet been done. We ended up waiting in the salon for about an hour, waiting for these things to be done with the onsite seamstress.
I was disappointed in these final appointments. One of the reasons I bought the dress from the flagship salon was because I thought extra care would be taken with the dress and they would be able to do what was needed to such an intricate dress. Unfortunately, it seemed the alterations were a bit rushed, and things were missed.
At the end of the day however, the dress looked amazing!

I was shocked there are only a few people who reviewed Amsale, cause I know you girls are out there that bought ones of her lines for your dream dress. Well, this was my first stop in NYC for wedding dress shopping (and I wish was my only stop)...
but from the moment you walk in everything is surreal. The set up is beautiful, the floors are amazing, and the lighting is all very carefully placed to make sure you feel at ease. I really enjoyed the floor to ceiling soundproof windows, which gave you the excitement of being in NYC trying on a wedding gown without the heinous noise.
I met with Linda. My fairy godmother. She was incredible, not pushy very intuitive and so good at her job, she actually picked my dress for me. It was the first dress I tired on (because she was so excited to see it on me). I tried on others that I choose, but none measured up to what Linda had picked for me (based on my wedding location/style and veil choice).
Linda measured me and was so on point, the only alteration I needed was my bustle. I am not sure if that has ever happened in the history of wedding dresses, but this place made it happen.
I really enjoy that you are usually the only bride at the salon, and you are offered champagne. Why you ask? They are not dumb, they know this is stressful, and your making one of the second hardest decisions of your life (the first was picking the guy!).
I appreciate not everyone has the budget to spend on an Amsale dress ( I didn't want to spend anything near that) but in the end, I was very happy with my decision. The material was high quality, the attention to detail was impeccable, and overall it was a fantastic experience.

Amsale has very good customer service. There was a mistake with my out-of-state shipment, which they took care of once I informed them and they kept me updated throughout the process.
The salon is clean and very organized. The dresses are kept in good condition considering how many people try they on (they aren't dirty and torn like in other stores). It's a peaceful place to try on dresses and it's a great feeling to be a bride looking for a dress in their store.
Value: you should know the price range before going in (call in advance). I wasn't surprised that there was very little under $4000, but did think that they would be somewhat more accommodating on discounting. They did give me a discount on my dress though (appreciated) but there is no room for negotiation on alterations (this seems standard everywhere).
Their vendor recommendations for undergarments and others accessories was SPOT ON. They really know what they are doing when it comes to bridalwear. If it fits your budget, definitely check it out!!
A small criticism is that not all of their consultants are as genuine as they could be. There is definitely some sort of judgment passed by some when you walk in (mine was ok, but she seemed friendlier to the person who was thinner and better dressed). I don't think this is a general review for Amsale, but they should be aware that some consultants give off bad vibes.
PROS: beatiful selection and quality; customer service; alterations.
CONS: wish they could do better on price (especially on collections that aren't the current ones); alternations (price).

The only place I found in my exhausting search that had clean cut lines, plain meets classic meets chic dresses. A little more variety than the boring basic strapless everyone wears now. The ladies are super sweet there as well.

Seeking a more modern silhouette for her 1985 nuptials, Ethiopian native Amsale found her options limited. She eschewed the overly ornate—on-trend in that era—and crafted her own pared-down design, elegant in its simplicity and quiet in its impact, featuring a distinct style that was modern and personal at once.
Three decades later, her refined and modern aesthetic endures in a variety of collections - and Amsale herself is widely credited as the inventor of the modern wedding dress.
