Had a very good experience here! She is very helpful! And helped me out a lot. Very knowledgeable and will work with you every step of the way. Would recommend to anyone in need of a dress!
Very professional, she cleaned my daughter flower for dress I wore from my mom first wedding when I was 7, it looked almost brand new. It looked brand new after my mom replaced the lace. She did a wonderful job on my dress as far as shortening it and cleaning it. She also added a belt to the dress. The past reviews are too critical. She is a wonderful business owner and is very good at what she does.
Myself and some bridesmaids went to Dwin for our alterations and she did a very great job. She's thorough and very timely. She was also always very fast to communicate with me, and could communicate entirely thru FB messenger (which is personally what I prefer). I'd go back to Dwin for future alterations, definitely.
I ended up having to deal with Bella Sposa by default after a bridesmaid ordered a dress from them while I had made previous arrangements in the Detroit area where I live. Initially, Bella Sposa was supposed to correct an error and order a long length bridal dress instead of the short length. My friend had been under the impression that this had been handled correctly so we waited for the dress to arrive. After waiting for the dress to arrive - of course the short length had been ordered incorrectly. This was during October and my wedding was in January. Now at this time, to the best of my knowledge no other solution had been suggested other than having it be reordered. No alternative was suggested at that time which would have saved headaches and time... Cut to less than 3 weeks to go before the wedding and I had finally decided to get involved and see if they could tell me when this dress would be in. They claimed that their computer system was down and that they had no way of contacting the company to check on things... Calls were not returned when they said they would be and my initial thoughts were that this store seemed unorganized and that “computer system being down” was really code for “We don’t have our shit together.” Now at this time, it was then suggested that they had the option of turning the short dress into a long one... now that would have been nice to have known months prior - but for whatever reason that wasn’t an option. The dress showed up 3 days before my bridesmaid needed it in her hands (4 days before the wedding) and she had to wait while they altered it the day before she headed to the Detroit area! It wasn’t until the wedding day that I had learned that they still charged her FULL price for the dress AND the alterations “because technically the dress was on time.” $115 for hemming the dress and altering a strap. They knew they had her between a rock and a hard place because what else was she to do under such a thin margin of time? Unreal. Talk about taking advantage of someone! The customer service at this store is abysmal! You would think that they would bend over backwards to correct their mistake and make sure they’re customer was compensated in some way based on how much they had been inconvenienced! But no - instead they have the nerve to complain that they couldn’t have ordered rushed shipping on the second dress because it would have cost them more money and they had already paid for shipping once. SHAME ON YOU! I highly recommend you take your business to a store that gives a damn about their customers. Zero stars.
My experience was a while back but I was reminded of it recently and had always felt the need to write a review. Our initial experience seemed good until I went to pay. I used an Amex which the employee took then was given a receipt. I found out later they supposedly didn’t take Amex despite the charge appearing on my card. They expected me to pay twice and decided the issue was with my card company. The financial issue after months was sorted out as they used to have a relationship with Amex and eventually received the first payment. (And the second). The real issue I had was that they not only made me pay a second time while the problem (which was on their end) got sorted and I had no choice since they held the dress hostage, but that when I came in shortly after the call saying I still needed to pay they charged me a late fee. Picture it. They run my card and give me a receipt and never tell me Amex isn’t accepted and a charge appears. Then when I come in to pay again (unaware I’m going to wait months for reimbursement for the first charge) they take my debit and without a word charge a late fee! As if it was my fault her employee didn’t know not to ring up my card? Worse yet another girl in the wedding party heard them bad mouthing me a few weeks later because at that point I was frustrated and trying to get my first payment back. I called my card company who said it was the stores problem, showed the owner my credit statements, my card and explained what her employee had done and showed my receipt...and yet they blamed me, fought with me, then bad mouthed me to other women in the bridal party. I’ve warned every person I know not to go here. The store looks low class and the service is even more low class. Not surprisingly it sounds like being rude and customer blaming for their errors is common given the reviews. Avoid this place like the plague. It’s not worth the hassle. Even if you find a lovely dress you can’t trust them not to screw you and blame you if they make an error. If they had even been an ounce polite or understanding of their error i would have felt differently.
I was excited at first when I saw the selection of dresses. I was looking for two bridesmaid dresses and the store owner was mildly accommodating at first, albeit understaffed (she is a one-woman operation) and disorganized. We waited an hour to try on dresses even with an appointment.
We made two bridesmaid orders, the first dress came in without an issue, and we waited on the second which had a few special alterations (which we paid for). Once the dress arrived we made an appointment and again waited 45 minutes because the owner was chatting and had one person in the dressing room. During that time there was a dog that ran freely around the building, jumped on the stained couches, and ran beneath and between the dresses - so our allergies began acting up while we were there.
That brings me to my next complaint. The dressing rooms are horribly inadequate and stuffed with personal and stock items from the store, the carpet is also stained and no one wanted to take off their socks. The owner's grandchildren were yelling, screaming and running through the shop. One of them went INTO the dressing room while my daughter was changing and the owner did not even scold or remove the child from the area, she laughed at it!
So the dress was at least 3 sizes larger than what she was measured for. The owner tried talking us into the purchase and said that the dresses are NEVER the same size and "like jeans, they all fit differently". I protested as we would have spent as much as the dress cost getting alterations. In the interest of saving time and getting the dress before the wedding, we left we scrapped the special alterations and went with the standard stock item. The owner was frustrated by this decision, making it seem like I was a disappointment for my request (as it should provide a partial refund for a dress with less done to it). My daughter apologized once we got back into the car and I assured her it was not her fault!
When the second dress came in, it was too SMALL and the fabric pulled tight across her waist. The owner became frustrated and took this out on me when I was inspecting the dress and trying to understand why there were such strong size variations. I did expect some measure of slight alterations - but not a measured dress in which we now have to take it out! The owner raised her voice, got red in the face and startled us. She stated that it was because my 110lb daughter was "on her period" and it would fit in a few days. I was horrified! She began to talk about alterations, letting the dress out and taking the top up and offered me a "discount" on alterations. I brought up the previous dress we ordered and paid extra on but was never refunded for - I asked for a credit towards the alterations. The owner became angry and said that she was forced to buy that dress and didn't owe us anything. I shared with her that incorrect sizing was not the fault of the customer and I did not believe that should be taken out on us. She said she was stuck with the other dress and was very upset about that and would not refund us the difference, even though this dress was clearly too small.
Wouldn't recommend to anyone. When I first went to scope the place out, I thought it was OK and a good local option to get my bridesmaid dresses. Boy was I wrong. When I brought my party in, they were extremely unorganized and only had 4 different styles of dresses to try on or a catalog to look at. Not what I imagined. We ended up placing our order and the dresses were quite pricey, but we decided to go with it anyways. Over 3 months later when the dresses came in (only a few weeks before the wedding), one of the bridesmaid dresses was ordered wrong! It was the completely wrong style. The owner was extremely rude and we had to argue with her on multiple occasions just to get the correct dress ordered. I was appalled at the horrible customer service. I should've went to David's Bridal or somewhere else, because the whole experience with this salon caused way too much stress for the amount of money we spent there.
They were terribly rude to my mom and I when we came in. We were looking for a mother of the bride dress. The woman working there was pretty much yelling at my mom and I. It was a horrible experience and I would never recommend this store to anyone.
I was very nervous to try on dresses being a bigger girl. This was my first and only stop. I got there early, but they told me to look around and grab some dresses. We got some and shockingly I thought I wanted long sleeve and once I tried them on I was like "Nope". The lady helping me was very nice and she made me feel more comfortable. I tried on some pretty dresses and I was actually torn between two of them. I ended up choosing one and they were very helpful. It makes me wonder those who complain if anything satisfy's them at all. I had a great experience here and very nice ladies. I would choose this small business over crappy David's Bridal any day. At least this place will help you find dresses and not rush you and are not worried about commission. I was there for about 2 hours when my appointment was only for 1 hour. They didn't rush me at all. They actually said to go home and think about it! Wonderful experience!
They had the dress I wanted and it was perfect!
We bought my bridal gown, bridesmaids, flower girls, miniature bride, mom's dresses and tuxedos here. In other words everything. We found the service to be outstanding. We found the staff to really care about us as clients. We found them to be attentive to our needs and very timely in meeting them. It was our experience that they bent over backwards for us by doing extra, special little things for us.
My mom, grandma and great grandma are all seamstresses and believe me their alterations are very reasonably priced . The quality of the workmanship was outstanding. I really can not say enough good things about this place as I feel that they were the ones who had the largest impact on how everyone would look on my wedding day. Everything is ready for my wedding...I am just waiting for the day to arrive.
I will tell everyone what a great place this is and what a great experience we all had here!
I felt like showering after I left.
While I did find my dream wedding dress here at an affordable price, once they learned that we were not going to pay them for many of their overpriced alterations, they treated us very poorly. They also made a glaring error on their one alteration and then tried to tell us that it was a "manufacterer's error" and were demanding payment to fix their mistake. Only my pictures saved my wallet. I would not recommend them to any future bride!
We found Bella Sposa by accident. My now husband works near and he said why don't you try Bella Sposa for your bridesmaids dresses. Well once there we were taken care of by one girl who opened specially for us to do an early appointment on Saturday. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the dresses and dress making. I was very pleased with her and the establishment. She helped us to custom make the dress we ended up with so that it would fit more into our color choice.
I went to Bella Sposa after shopping around at numerous stores. I made an appointment after reading the mostly great reviews. When I made the appointment the girl asked me a few questions about budget and if I had an idea of what I was looking for. At that point I really had no idea. She asked if I would like an email confirmation of the appointment, but I declined. By the time my appointment came I knew better what I was looking for. While the outside is not that great, the inside is clean and well organized. I love that I did not have to look through all of the thousands of gowns. They showed me the informals, the mermaids, the strapless, halter, tank and sleeved gowns. No one else had so many sleeved gowns. They also have a back room with a HUGE selection of older gowns, (naturally those are not for everyone, but I saw some there for $79.00!). After the little tour they left me to browse, which I LOVED! I started with the sale rack and chose a few to try. Then I moved back to the ‘orderable’ section of the store and found at least 15 gowns to try from $249 - $2800. They were busy taking care of quite a few customers who all seemed real happy with their gowns. One girl was being fit and she was super pleased she didn't need much alterations. Another was trying her gown on and super excited to see it in her color and fitting (from what I saw she wasn't going to need ANY alterations!) Another gal came in for her gown, apologizing for no appointment and they were great to her as well. When I saw 3 customers super satisfied I knew that this was where I was going to get my gown!!! As soon as everyone else was set they quickly took my choices to the fitting room and asked what size bra I wore. They helped me into the gowns and it was GREAT! All I had to do was stand there and they made all the adjustments and did all the work. I really felt special and I could tell they really do care about their clients! They have 4 very large fitting rooms that are set up so it is kind of secluded with a sofa. I really liked that. When we had tried all of my choices the gal went and found 2 more for me to try. I fell in love with the first of those 2. I started crying and then asked if I could call my mom. My mom took about 25 minutes to get there and they were great while we waited for her, helping me make all kinds of decisions. When my mom got there they put the gown back on me and my mom started crying too! I didn't need to think any further. I bought my dress, even though my wedding is quite a ways off. They also told me they will store it for free until the wedding. As I was leaving another girl came in bringing her gown back for cleaning and preservation. She was so happy with her gown, them and their service. She was hugging the girls and it was sooo cool! I KNOW I made the right decision! Definitely recommend making an appointment with this place.
I made an appointment here because this shop had gotten good reviews on other websites. I knew where the shop was and knew it was really run down looking from the outside but was hopeful anyway. The first problem was they never called to confirm my appointment so I went at the agreed upon time and while they did have me listed they were unprepared. I was never asked what size I was, I was never asked how much I was willing to spend. There was one dress that I loved that was 200 over budget, but I would have gotten it had I recieved better service. The attended actually told me to order it in a size smaller than I would normally wear. Another bride walked in and at that point we were completely ignored. No one came back to see if we needed help or wanted to buy. I got my clothes back on and we walked out of there. No one said anything as we left either. I was so dissapointed at my experience. I was prepared to spend $1000 on a dress. I ended up buying one from Davids Bridal for $350, and their service was fantastic. Another issue I had with the store is that there were only two dressing rooms with curtains that didn't even close all the way. The advertised on the website as having tons of dresses in all price ranges but the ones that we under $800 were old old styles that had been sitting around for years. They had the puffy shoulders and long sleeves that were the 1980's style. Some were even turning yellow. I would not recomend this place at all.
