The Venue we used was the Retreat-we had so many compliments on the choice. It was easy to decorate with simple additions to complement the already pretty space.

round on the lawn, to older generations catching up on the patio, to the younger folks dancing inside! The event staff were great to work with and the bar staff were awesome to chat with. It was also great to have access to the bridal and groom suite all day long and to have chairs and tables included, since not all venues do this. Also the price for having unlimited soda was $1 per person, great. Having access to a coffee bar was also a reasonable price if wanting to provide Non-alcoholic beverages to guests.
Beautiful venue for both a reception and a ceremony. They do hold a max of 300, our wedding was under 200 and that felt plenty full. So I caution anyone trying to hold a wedding of 300 here as it would feel a little crowded.
Some things that made the experience less than perfect is the lack of landscaping. The grass was overgrown and shrubs/bushes were not trimmed. We actually had quite a few guests comment on this.
While many things are included with this venue like arches, dining chairs and tables, bridal suites, dinnerware, and various other items. It does feel like you get penny pinched near the end. From multiple questions on the security deposit (that had been paid), to paying for ceremony chairs to be moved from the pond area to the lawn (which I knew from the beginning, but after looking at the venue more it didn't quite make sense), to some pretty steep prices on some of the alcohol that bridal party wanted to provide for guests.
Overall this is a great venue and a beautiful place to be married. Just stay on top of communications, and maybe send repetitive emails, with the venue admins so there is no confusion. I do recommend Blue Haven Barn and Gardens if you are getting married in Sioux Falls, SD!

ion they will respond within hours. They let me come to the venue multiple times after booking to explore the grounds and planning decorations. Venue lets you choose your own caterer from an approved list that offers all price points! Could not recommend this venue more. Also I recommend signing up for the service package.

ing right on site (get ready/hair and makeup, bridal party/family photos, ceremony, reception, etc). So it was nice not having to drive all over town the day of.
Because we had our ceremony outside on the lawn next to the building, we didn't need to bring in any speakers/DJs for sound which saved a lot of $$. We got married in mid-July and the AC worked great inside (which was a huge plus)!
The venue was already so pretty, that I didn't feel the need to add a bunch of decorations to dress it up. It was very easy working with the staff. They responded to emails quickly and met with us to plan out the entire day.

We paid a little extra to have them clean up- SO worth it! We got to enjoy our wedding day without the stress of having to clean up and gather all of our belongings. We were able to come the following day- and they had packed everything up for us! The indoor and outdoor spaces are incredible. All of our guests commented on the beautiful venue. Staff was ready to move the ceremony indoors if rain came. We are SO happy with Blue Haven and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a classic, beautiful, and accommodating venue.

The venue itself is gorgeous and we received so many positive comments from guests as they left, saying how beautiful and unique our venue choice was. The perfect place for a wedding, no matter whether the theme is modern, rustic, or anywhere in between.
Having a bridal suite and groom suite with ample outfits and room for people to get ready was great as well.
They are very flexible and accommodating too. We ended up needing to have an extra sangria added during our cocktail hour and they whipped it up immediately at our request.
Overall, a perfect day and place! I'd highly recommend this venue to anyone!!

We booked this venue before it was open. I wish I would have known about the lack of professionalism and experience the owners have before we booked - we would have gone somewhere ...

For our 30 day meeting that I had booked a month in advance and I had several people able to come to hammer out final details, the owner told me that morning that it wouldn't work as her husband surprised her with a date night. Also, all emails and documents had spelling and grammar errors and would use ur instead of your, etc. I'm her customer, not her friend. She also had to ask me several times about details we had already either spoken about or emailed about. Thank gosh I had a great coordinator apart from Blue Haven that took off the stress that this owner put on me!
