Blue Ridge Entertainment did an amazing job for my wedding. Kidd Carter is very thorough and after assessing our needs recommended Jake Webb to be our DJ. Jake was fantastic. Very professional, kept in constant communication beforehand, showed up on time and everything was exactly what I wanted. From the ceremony, to cocktail hour, dinner and finally just letting loose and dancing, Jake made sure my guests were having a great time. I would highly recommend Blue Ridge Entertainment and our DJ Jake Webb.
Stephen was a great DJ and emcee. He kept the dance floor full and was great at adapting to the crowd. He also did a great job with the ceremony!
We had DJ Ian Price for our wedding and he was AMAZING! I told Ian I wanted our wedding reception to feel like a party and he brought it! Not a single guest sat at their table during the dancing part! Ian also had the up lighting and it was a perfect green for our wedding.
Any questions?
Our DJ did everything perfect and according to plan. He was on top of things and found me if he was unsure if something had changed. The music never stopped, he faded out some songs for that we asked, he got all the right versions of songs for us too.
I highly recommend!
We had a pretty negative experience with a DJ from this company. First of all, we had another DJ but then about a month before the wedding, Kidd notified me that the DJ had to work and couldn’t make the wedding, and I was free to go with another company or he could provide another DJ. I wasn’t rude, but honestly, I wanted to go with another place, there just wasn’t time. So we booked a different DJ with blue ridge. That DJ did not download 2 of our requested songs, therefore they couldn’t be played at our venue because there wasn’t service. It was really disappointing. When I emailed Kidd, he said that the DJ didn’t feel well that day and did the best he could and that they didn’t look at the song requests I personally emailed to Kidd so he didn’t know to download them. Total red flag and completely unprofessional and inappropriate. Which sometimes isn’t enough when you pay a thousand dollars for your WEDDING day. I was extremely disappointed. I would not recommend. They also played very strange music and all of my guests were like “what is this?” And had to request songs to make it danceable and fun. So TLDR- I had a bad experience and would not use them again, EVER. I’m truly not one to complain but this was bad and I had to get my bridesmaids to request songs because I had no idea what the DJ was even playing before that.

Hi Rachel, we've spoken about this privately, and I admitted that this wedding was not one of our shining moments. As I mentioned to you on the phone, your DJ called me at 5am on your wedding day in a panic because he had gotten very sick, and...
was unable to get out of bed. Due to a full day of weddings, we did not have coverage for him, so he and I agreed that just not showing up would be unacceptable and that he would have to show up anyway. From what I was told by his girlfriend, it's a miracle he was able to get out of bed. Naturally, his best performance was not able to be shown. Throughout the entire night, about 75-80 songs were played, and I do apologize that 2 were missed, but he was not 100% or anywhere close to it. As far as the other "strange" songs that you said were played, I can't speak on those because I don't have his playlist from the wedding handy. I can tell you that he is booked on weddings just about every weekend, and this is the first negative review I've gotten on his song selections. When we're playing a wedding, we are entertaining guests from under 5 years old to sometimes 95 years old, so sometimes a songs are played that not everyone will recognize. Those may have been requests from your guests, I'm not sure...but doing weddings every weekend, he was likely playing music that we normally play, you just may not have known them...it's hard to say.
I'm sincerely sorry that your experience wasn't positive, but as you can see by only 2 negative reviews in a matter of several years, this isn't a regular occasion. We're typically hearing nothing but positivity with my staff. Best wishes to you guys.
Blue Ridge Entertainment was a fantastic choice for our DJ/music entertainment! I had been worried that our wedding reception would be slow and somewhat lame, but our DJ, Ian, really brought the energy! Our dance floor was packed with younger and older people through the duration of the reception. We also decided to pay extra for the party lighting which I highly recommend. Overall, they were great to work with and really made the wedding reception one to remember!
My new wife and I went into this wedding planning not knowing much about DJ's. We know that we've enjoyed some and not others at other events we've attended together. Fortunately for us, my wife found Blue Ridge entertainment during her research. Kidd Carter was excellent. He did a great job of working in what we wanted while still keeping everyone enjoying themselves. He was great at keeping the energy up even during some of the awkward moments that surround the speeches (microphone changes, etc). There weren't any mistakes during the ceremony or reception (and that might be the only wedding I've been to where that was the case). I don't know how else to say it. He had a great energy, and he brought that through his work to make our wedding a lot of fun. Absolutely would recommend him for your wedding.
Freddy Mac was absolutely wonderful! He was nice, friendly, approachable to everyone, and professional. We had to change everything around last minute due to rain, but you would have never known by how easily he adjusted and how fun he helped us make our wedding day!!
We absolutely loved having Blue Ridge Entertainment DJ our wedding. Ian did such an amazing job curating the vibe we wanted the whole night. Since our wedding was during COVID, we knew we wouldn't have the normal packed dance floor you'd usually except, but we had a blast anyways. Ian did an amazing job of taking our must have playlist, and weaving in songs that fit our stye perfectly. I recommend them 100%
Kidd did a great job keeping the dance floor filled all night! Great mix of music, and everyone had a fun time! He did both our ceremony and reception, including announcements at the reception, and he kept things moving right on time! We can't imagine having gone with anyone else! Highly recommended!
We were THRILLED to have Kidd Carter be our DJ!! We dealt with weather related location changes and last minute ceremony song changes and handled everything like a true professional! We played exactly the kind of music we asked for, including all our favorites and the best songs to keep the party going. We had an extra long (like five hour!!) reception and there wasn’t a single time the dance floor wasn’t packed!! We are so thankful that our guests had the time of their lives partying with us all night, and while we know all the vendors are important....the DJ is the utmost when it comes to getting the people to dance!! Seriously the best, we love Kidd Carter!!!!
Kidd Carter with Blue Ridge Entertainment goes above and beyond to make your Ceremony & Reception go as smooth as possible.
Kidd did a fantastic job all night. Everyone was entertained and included. Our guests were very complimentary as the party could have gone on a couple of more hours and Kidd was ready to stay if needed.
Kidd Carter was so great to work with. He did a great job of being organized and keeping people on the dance floor! Really GREAT!!!
Mr. Cater had a professional set up and attire. He was not helpful in suggesting ceremony music. We had our guests RSVP with songs that they wanted to hear at the wedding, he maybe played 50% of them. Afterwards he told us he had not heard of some of our requests, and I guess never decided to ask us or look the songs up. There was a long awkward pause before our recessional music started because he was not prepared, but he blamed it on our officiant. There were not enough "slow" songs, evident by the lack of couples dancing. The entire time I felt like he was trying to rush the wedding along instead of giving us what we asked for and we did end early. Overall I did not feel that he did not give my wedding enough attention. In my communications with him he was passive aggressive and was rude when we gave him constructive feedback.

Thank you for your feedback and allow me to respond to each of your concerns individually because I don't feel that your review was an accurate representation of how this event went.
1. I suggested several ideas for your ceremony. The first s...
uggestion (Piano Guys) you said you didn't like so I suggested some Vitamin String Quartet selections which you also said you didn't like. I then suggested some others which again you said you didn't like. I proceeded to suggest a few more which you didn't respond to so I suggested Googling some wedding ceremony song ideas.
2. Your musical preferences marked on your reception planner and the songs your guests requested contradicted each other. You had marked your #1 song preference as 60's music but your guest selections were not 60's songs. I did begin to play several of your guest requests, most of which I've never heard of and noone danced to them, leading me to switch the music to more recognizable song choices. After the wedding, mother of the bride complained that I didn't play more slow songs, which after checking my playlist I played 4 that night. Receptions are typically party music with a few slow songs mixed in. I was also told by the bride's mother "I felt like I was at a school dance," but after checking the playlist, maybe 4 songs the entire evening were recorded after the year 2000.
This is honestly the first complaint I've ever received so I'm finding it difficult to accurately respond. What it comes down to is that the crowd at your wedding was just not a party crowd, not a dancing crowd, and regardless of what I played, it was not going to generate a response. The younger folks were wanting to dance to newer music, but my hands were tied due to being asked to play mostly oldies all night, which were not well responded to by the older generation. This was honestly the most difficult wedding I worked the entire season but I tried my best and I absolutely gave as much attention as I always do at every wedding I host.
I would ask you to copy and paste my email response below and indicate exactly where I was passive aggressive and rude. I simply responded to your complaints and explained my side of the story. If that's being passive aggressive and rude then I certainly apologize, but I truly believe this is a case of an upset client because their crowd was not a dancing crowd, and in those rare cases, there isn't a DJ anywhere that can make people dance.
Finally I would like to address your claim of me not being prepared for the recessional song. At the end of a ceremony, the cue for the music to begin is when the officiant introduces the couple. "Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr and Mrs _______." The couple was never introduced so there was no cue for me to start the music. I've been doing weddings for 10 years and every single wedding, the couple is introduced at the end which is where the music starts. I don't know why this particular officiant didn't introduce the bride and groom but that's always the end of the ceremony. I was ready.
Very sorry you were not pleased with the results but I truly did the best I could with what I was given. Best wishes to you all.
Friendly. Had a lot of experience. Very professional.
