If you're thinking that you've found the trailer of your dreams to expand your business through Campfire Trailers, think again.... My experience with this business started out great. They were professional and kind and I was excited to purchase a trailer from them to expand my baking business. I put a deposit down on one of their trailers that they were representing and was told that the owner of the trailer had a copy of the title. Naturally I assumed that that meant they had a copy of their own title. On the way to pick the trailer up I find out that the owner of the trailer didn't have a title at all, the only thing they had was a copy of the previous owners title. We were pretty upset as we felt mislead by the owner and Campfire Trailers. So my husband and I turned around and went home. We tried to figure it out but as it turns out I wouldn't be able to use the trailer for 6-12 months as we worked out the title debacle, so we decided it wasn't going to be a good fit for us.
I called, Lisa, at Campfire Trailers to ask for my deposit back. I don't think it was intentional, but leaving out this information about the title was incredibly deceptive. I assumed she would have no problem returning the deposit due to the fact that she and the owner of the trailer itself left out vital information about the title. Instead my request was met with disgust, anger, and an astonishing display of unprofessionalism. Lisa didn't show any understanding about the situation and why it was wrong. She started out by making a cut towards me about being young. She kept blaming me for not knowing enough about trailers and told me it was my fault that I didn't ask the right questions. She told me that none of her trailers have titles and that everyone who buys from her knows that. A statement I find extremely hard to believe. At one point she said, "I'm the one with the money, if you had started the conversation by saying, 'I'm dumb, I made a stupid mistake, and I'm sorry', then maybe I would have given you your deposit back." I continued to make the point that omitting important information about the title is wrong and borderline fraudulent. She kept telling me it was my fault and I should have known, she told me multiple times how annoying I was being. Lisa mocked my voice on the phone, she laughed at me as I told her my frustrations, and still has not given me my deposit back. This conversation was shocking and inappropriate. If she continues to treat customers this way, they will be out of business in no time.
Your customers are it, they are the ones who tell their friends about you. They are the ones that use your product and rave about it on their social media channels. They are the reason you are able to do what you love day to day. Without them you can't exist. So, Lisa, for the future, maybe consider treating your customers with a little more respect and care.
As cute as these trailers are, it's not worth it. I would recommend steering clear of this unethical business. They are just trying to make a buck. If they went about it the right way and gave their customers all the information they needed when making such a big purchase, maybe they would be on to something great. It's a really unfortunate situation. I have no respect for Campfire Trailers, what they have done is wrong and needs to be righted.
