I had my wedding at Chevy Chase on May 25, 2013 in the Grand Ballroom. My husband and I were looking for a unique venue space that didn't look like a the typical banquet hall and it needed to have an space for an outdoor wedding. Chevy Chase ha...d what we wanted, and when we looked at the Grand Ballroom, we fell in love -with the wood floors and the giant built-in bar!
When we booked Chevy Chase in May 2012, they hadn't broke ground yet on the ceremony space outside the Grand Ballroom. I booked on a leap of faith that the space would be nice enough to have my wedding ceremony out there. There ceremony space is GORGEOUS! When I saw pictures of it completed in Oct 2012, I literally cried, it was better than I could have imagined. I've had people tell me it looks like something you would see on The Bachelor!
The entire staff was great to work with. Wendy and Jan guided me through the planning process, telling me what works well in their venue space, as well as listening to the unique touches we wanted to put on our wedding. The night of, the banquet captains and staff were more than accomadating. They made sure we were looked after and the guests commented on the great service.
The food we chose was Cream of Broccoli, a house salad and the entree was Champagne Chicken and Sirloin Steak combo which was servied with fingerling potatoes and seasonal veggies. We had many compliments on the food too. I personally think if the food is bad at a wedding, it can damage the whole feel of the wedding!!
The cake stole the show. We had an Art Deco theme to the wedding, and the bakery Chevy Chase uses made the exact cake we watched (and the best part was this is included in the wedding package so we didn't have to pay additional). We chose a lemon cake with raspberry filling and buttercream frosting. WOW! My mouth is watering just thinking about it..
Lastly, I wanted to mention the prices. We orginally thought we would have around 200 people, and we ended up with 190. The prices were around the prices of other country clubs and there was no room rental fee. I refused to put my hard earned money towards a rental fee that wouldn't go towards the food and beverage. I loved that the prices on the menu included the tax and service charge. That was really helpful when figuring out if Chevy Chase was within my budget. I believe the service, food, cake, and then venue space are worth every month at Chevy Chase.
I hope this helps you choose your wedding venue!
