About this vendor
Situated in Boerne, TX, Don Strange Ranch is a wedding reception venue delivering exceptional experiences as diverse and evocative as the surrounding hill country. This destination wedding spot provides two gorgeous venues, an adventure course, and boundless rustic elegance. Steeped in a rich cultural history, this quintessential country ranch will add an old-world southern charm to your ceremony. With over 40 years of wedding experience and access to a vast selection of vendors, Don Strange Ranch promises to make planning your big day a breeze.
Acquired by the Bavarian-born civil engineer Nicolas Zink in 1868, the ranch shares strong ties with the German immigrants who first settled in Texas under his care. From the town of New Braunfels to the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railroad, Zink’s roots can be found throughout the Texas Hill Country. Today, the fruits of Zink’s labor can be appreciated in the restored limestone house that remains on the property. Upon Don Strange’s purchase in 1952, the ranch built a reputation for hosting exceptional events as a destination venue, welcoming thousands of visitors. Don Strange Ranch has stayed true to its history, embracing the creeks and mature oaks that adorn the property.
Hidden amongst ravines, lost amid grapevines, and in the company of longhorns, the ranch offers a pastoral aesthetic with a sense of adventure. Enjoy an intimate event in the bucolic beauty of Kendal creek, basking in the glow of a double-sided limestone fireplace embraced by large barn doors. Dine and dance under the vaulted ceilings adorned with Edison lights. Transfix your guests with an outside cantine and ceremony space set against the backdrop of a creek ravine. If you crave a more lavish affair, the ranch invites you to entertain up to 3,000 guests at their Headquarters venue. Amid beams embellished with honeysuckle vines, antique tables, and floor-to-ceiling handcrafted doors, you can enjoy your first celebrations as newlyweds in picturesque luxury. No matter your tastes, the team behind the ranch will be dedicated to helping you build a memorable day with all the peaceful splendor of the hill country.

I had the worst experience with Hannah at this venue , the whole wedding experience was ruined for me . The lack of communication this “...
venue director” had all along was horrible. The place was not maintained at all . When I first spoke to Hannah over a year before my wedding she had told us she was switching the barn door to glass doors , and that the venue would look “different” by the time time our wedding came around . That was a joke , the venue looked the same if anything even worse. Two weeks before our wedding, we went to go do a final walk-through. That place was so dirty, there was deer poop inside , the cushions for the seats were all dirty some of them were torn . She said she was in the middle of some “inventory change” in my mind who does inventory change 2 weeks before a wedding ? So of course the inventory was not there on time on our wedding week so she was going to have no cushions on my seats & she had the audacity to let me know a few days before my wedding that the cushions were t going to be there for our wedding day which was completely unacceptable to us !! Good thing she rented some out without charging us, that’s probably the only good thing that came out out of this venue , clean cushions . On the wedding day we were running late on everything & the manager Michelle thag day was well aware of that . Her & her team proceeded to go inside the bridal suite while we were taking pictures and take some stuff out WITHOUT US BEING AWARE INCLUDING OUR alcohol we had in there which they then took the bar , first of all who does this ? And why would they touch our things ? We were well aware we had to take out our things after the ceremony . So unprofessional , so many other small things that make this place horrible , but it is too much to talk about thought a Google review . AT THE END of the day WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE . The management is horrible , the place is not the best looking either . Save your $8000 & go find a better place with hopefully better management and a place with an AC.😄

We had a phenomenal experience using Kendall Creek at Don Strange Ranch for our wedding venue. Laura and Natalie were wonderful to work with, extremely helpful, attentive to detail...
and accommodating. The venue is a beautiful wood barn with rustic/vintage vibes and romantic strings of lights. Our wedding package included a longhorn feeding experience that our guests enjoyed while we took photos. At night they allow sparkler send offs. Our wedding was truly magical.
