It all started with a late-night phone call from a friend in full-on wedding panic. They were just two months away from the big day—and completely overwhelmed. “We tried planning it ourselves,” they told me, “but when we looked for help, no planners would take us on this close to the wedding.” I stepped in to support but that moment stuck with me. Then years later when it was my turn yo get married, I found it nearly impossible to find a planner who felt comfortable taking on our 6 month timeline.
I kept thinking: What about the couples who don’t have a year to plan? Who’s helping them when time is running out and the stress is sky-high? That’s when Events in a Crunch was born. We specialize in turning chaos into celebration—no matter the timeline. chedule for my two-day celebration, but Adaobi stepped in and crafted a detailed spreadsheet based on my vision. It was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders as she transformed my disorganized thoughts into a coherent plan.
Not only did she handle the logistics, but she also took on the task of delegating responsibilities to my maid of honor and moderator, significantly reducing my stress. We even conducted a full rehearsal of the wedding, and I can confidently say that having someone like Adaobi will make your wedding run seamlessly. She understands my desires and bring my wedding dreams to life.
Adaobi is incredibly professional, highly skilled with Excel, and extremely knowledgeable about wedding planning. She took care of contacting and coordinating with all the vendors, which was a huge relief. She also served as the toastmaster and coordinator, handling every detail with expertise. We came to her from the morning having to cut some of our photo schedule due to rain and she helped us pivot but stay on track to where we had more than enough time to fully execute set up, feed the whole wedding party, and take more pictures and content than we had originally planned. As a very DIY and small budget wedding, we had several friends acting in roles typically served by vendors and she helped them get up to speed and know when to make announcements and play certain songs, etc. As someone who likes to do everything myself, I knew I was in good hands the minute Mel asked all of the right questions in our hand-off call of the important things and little details I had in my head. She was the best use of our limited budget and probably the reason I was able to sleep the night before.

ual wedding timeline and preparatio was lackluster. She lost the pdf for our table design (it should've been printed..) and we had multiple guests tell us that she was just standing around looking uncertain and not really doing anything. There was a complete miscommunication about our arrival time with the venue. One of our bridesmaids said she asked her what was planned next in the wedding (?). At one point me, her and the photographer were discussing what to do next re: rain plan and we agreed on one thing and she immediately announced the completely wrong thing to everyone. There was also not much communication about what day of coordinator don't do. We had a guest notice she was just standing around the entrance waiting for guests to arrive while my bridesmaids were putting decor up. There were also a few things that did not get done at all - I told her specific placement for some of our items which was completely ignored, and we had an important request that religious statues be moved or covered, which also did not happen. (I did confirm with the venue multiple times that we were allowed to do this, so a yard statue of Mary was greeting people at our Jewish wedding...)
We also had to make a rain plan last minute for the wedding and received kind've a bitchy email about how they can't guarantee new information will be reviewed a certain point before the wedding. Super off putting.
I do not think this service is worth the price at all and we've decided not to tip. Too many mistakes for me to consider them trustworthy.

ing day didn't turn out as hoped. Saturday's rainstorm threw many things for a loop and I can assure you that any tasks left out on our team's part were necessary adjustments in order to support vendors and guests as they navigated the slippery and somewhat rocky terrain. Having to maintain several parts of a wedding; ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner reception, in one space comes with several challenges since - due to the rain storm - the entire venue space was no longer accessible. These things are of course no one's fault as no one can predict the severity of a storm. But as coordinators, we do everything in our power to support event flows because we know the show must go on :)
One thing I sincerely apologize for is the religious statues. We know this request was previously shared with the venue and they didn't move the statues on your behalf. While moving furniture isn't something we do -as is outlined in our contract and website-, I apologize that when we learned of the request 2 days prior to the event that our team didn't have enough time to make accommodations with a separate mover company to ensure the venue was reflective of your spiritual needs. I also apologize that our email before the event was received as bitchy as we said that "we will always do our very best to accommodate any new info that comes in" also leading up to the day, a financial decision was made in a group email to not add overtime coordination hours to extend our day from the standard 10 hrs (1pm-11pm) to a 12hr day (11am-11pm) that would have been needed for our team to conduct the venue walk through. Instead, either the couple or a member of the wedding party would be present for this early arrival and walk through with the venue manager. I'm sorry to hear there was some confusion on that part.
As a small business, we do our very best to support each event in every way we can. When new information arrives in our email inbox 2 days before an event, as a very small team it can easily take 3 days for us to get to message, and be able to fully take action on those important details. We make a final planning meeting available to all couples to ensure we have a face-to-face discussion and can review any aspects of their decorative vision so nothing gets lost in translation. That is the unfortunate downside to receiving such important decorative details over email just 2 days before an event.
We believe that your wedding day and every wedding is a sacred moment in time and thank you for inviting us to be part of that day. They say rain on a wedding day is good luck and I hope the intensity of last week's storm brings endless joy to your union.

It’s these details that made the wedding feel so personal and unique, not just something cut and paste from a Pinterest board. The attention to detail really made the wedding feel like it had a big budget. Most importantly, she is FUN to work with and that translates to a FUN wedding for all. She keeps the potential needs of each guest in mind (whether elderly or new mom or coming solo), so that it is inclusive and enjoyable for ALL invited guests. 100% recommend.
