My fiancé and I first met Macy of Grand Event Rentals in January 2026 at a wedding expo at the Hyatt while searching for a venue shortly after getting engaged. We were especially e...
xcited to learn she also managed Southbridge Clubhouse, as my grandparents live in the neighborhood and it felt like a perfect fit for us.
However, it is important to note that after meeting Macy at the expo, we never saw her again—not during our tours or at any point throughout this process.
We scheduled a tour shortly after the expo, but Macy was unavailable and we were shown the venue by her assistant. The assistant had very limited knowledge and repeatedly referred us back to Macy for answers, which made the experience feel unprepared and unprofessional.
From that point forward, all communication had to be initiated by me or my fiancé. We made multiple attempts to contact Macy by both phone and email, often receiving little to no response. There was no proactive follow-up from her at any point.
As we became more serious about the venue, we requested a second tour with our parents. It took nearly a month to schedule, and during that time, our calls, texts, and emails largely went unanswered. This level of non-communication was extremely frustrating—especially considering we toured 13 other venues locally, and none demonstrated this lack of responsiveness.
At our second tour, Macy was again unavailable, and we were once again assisted by staff who could not provide detailed information. At that point, it felt like we were leading our own tour.
We also requested a draft contract prior to the second tour so we could review details with our family, but we never received it. Despite being ready to move forward and book, we received no follow-up afterward.
Seeing other weddings actively taking place at the venue while we struggled just to get basic communication was disappointing.
In a final attempt to resolve the situation, I contacted the General Manager of Grand Lake Club. Unfortunately, there was no real acknowledgment of our experience—only a question about whether we still wanted to book, with no explanation or accountability.
We were genuinely excited about this venue due to our personal connection to the neighborhood, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Based on our experience, if communication and professionalism are important to you during the wedding planning process, I would strongly encourage you to consider other options.
The Grand Lake Club has been completely transformed since I was there a few years ago. It no longer has the rustic lodge vibe. When we first walked through the door and saw the g...
orgeous fireplace mantle and stunning crystal chandelier I knew this was where I wanted to say I do. The upstairs ballroom is beautifully designed with elegant details. The crystals on the chandeliers and sconces literally sparkled. It was the perfect location for our ceremony and reception. The Bridal Suite is the best that I have ever seen anywhere! It is larger than our 2 bedroom apartment. We had 3 hair and makeup artists, 8 bridesmaids, 2 mothers and 2 grandmothers hanging out in the suite and it never felt crowded. I love that I had my own personal room to get ready in. The bridesmaids also had their own room while the mothers and grandmothers enjoyed hanging out in the reception area and mother's room. The opposite wing also has a private Bar and Groom's suite for the guys. After seeing this I couldn't convince my husband to even look at the other locations we had planned to visit. The day of our wedding the grooms men played 9 holes at the neighborhood course, showered in the downstairs locker room and then kept busy with poker for the remainder of the morning. I was worried they may get carried away in the private bar area but the staff did a great job of feeding them snacks and dealing cards.
Courtney and her team was so much fun to work with and alleviated a lot of my anxiety, even my mother-in-law was very impressed with her. Every staff member went above and beyond to make sure we had the perfect ceremony and reception. There were too many thoughtful gestures to mention. We truly felt like royalty.
Best of all, since we booked before all of the renovations are complete we received a HUGE discount on the venue space which allowed us to splurge other things and upgrade our honeymoon. In comparison to the other venues that we toured the Grand Lake Club offered much more for far less.
Grand Lake Club was the first place we visited when planning our wedding and we loved it! The people were so nice and the venue is gorgeous. It was the perfect day.
Everyone at Grand Lake Lodge did everything they could to make this day wonderful! They were very flexible as far as decor and what they allowed you to bring in. The food was AMAZI...
NG. The wait staff was excellent as well. Its a little further from downtown, but we had shuttles that took people downtown so that was not a problem.
