One downside was that the owners were present during the event. While nothing negative occurred, it felt as though they were keeping a close eye on things, and we would have preferred more privacy during the time we had the venue rented.
Our only real complaint regarding the venue itself is that there was only one small restroom available for guests, which was difficult given the number of attendees.
As for vendors, we went with the caterer recommended by the venue owners, Lisa Little Catering, and unfortunately had a poor experience (3/10). We are not typically the type to leave negative reviews, but we do not recommend using this caterer. While the brisket and chicken were decent, the sides were disappointing (undercooked and bland), and the bread provided was not what we requested.
We paid for food for 120 guests, yet only around 70 people ate (included in this are very small children and adults who stated they didn’t want to eat a lot due to the lack of food available). When we asked what happened to the remaining food, we were told it was “thrown away.” However, we took some food home, and it was barely enough for two adults to have lunch the next day, which raised serious concerns. There were large refrigerators on site for food storage.
After the event, we originally contacted the caterer to discuss our concerns. She agreed with several of the issues we raised but was very uncooperative and refused to make things right. The only response we received was, “I’m sorry you were unhappy,” which we felt did not address the situation or take responsibility.
On a positive note, the bartender Sonya, who was also recommended by the venue owners, was fantastic. She was professional, friendly, and did an excellent job—we highly recommend her.
Overall, Green Gates Farmhouse is a beautiful venue with a lot of potential. Just be aware of the limited restroom access and carefully consider vendor choices from the owners.

e reception inside, but the weather had something else in mind. The Maudlins jumped into action helping us get everything situated to have everything inside. It was the most beautiful venue we had ever seen. There was a perfect flow for everything. 10/10 would recommend to everyone I know. The Mauldins were so helpful and the sweetest people we’ve ever met! Everyone had such a great time and talked about how beautiful everything was!

a “backup plan” this is not the venue for you-until they fix their problem. It had been raining days leading up to the wedding and rain was in the forecast for Saturday as well, so we decide to have the wedding inside. The inside is absolutely beautiful, so I was okay with this. The morning of the wedding was beautiful, but rain moved in quickly after lunch.
Due to the venue not having an awning, there was NO way for guests and vendors to enter the venue without getting wet (umbrellas did not even help). I felt extremely bad for my band as they unloaded their equipment and the caterers as they unloaded the food and supplies. They were soaking wet. As the rain continued and family begin to arrive early for pictures, water begin flowing into the venue. The water was coming in between the wall and foundation causing some areas to have as much as 2” of water. THANKFULLY, a family friend lived nearby and was able to go home to get his wetvac. If it was not for him, there would have still been water in there during the time of the ceremony. HE SAVED THE DAY. There was also two water leaks in the bridal suite (one by my WEDDING DRESS and the bridesmaid dresses and another pretty big one in the bathroom) that the owner was informed of while the bridal party was getting ready and all she said was, “I know”. I am thankful that my bridesmaid noticed this before my dress got wet. Although this had happened before, the owners of the venue did not know what to do. Sadly, we were informed this had happened before but we did not know about it until afterwards (and we were told by someone other than the owners).
Due to the flooding inside, I was unable to get any pictures inside under the flowers and arch (which was not cheap). This area was the part that was different from the other weddings and made it unique to us. It breaks my heart that I was unable to take pictures here.
After the wedding, I reached out to the owners asking about the venue flooding prior to our wedding date. Unfortunately, I never got a reply and I messaged them multiple times.
Once this problem is fixed, I would highly recommend this venue!
