Holiday Inn Champaign

I took a lot of time deciding on if I wanted to write this review because I really do try to give people the benefit of the doubt and understand mistakes are made unintentionally but based on the fact that you are paying thousands of dollars and this is one of the most important days of your life I feel it's important to explain my experience. I had a lot of trouble with Chandre who didn't seem on top of anything and would take days to respond back to me whenever I would call or email her with questions. 2 weeks before our wedding we called to finalize our head count and we were told Chandre no longer worked for the company. I was shocked that we were not called and told about this ahead of time. I had to set up a meeting with the new planner, he did not offer and the fact that Chandre had not wrote down half of what I had asked for and they had no idea. The new guy that took her place seemed to be annoyed if we asked for something that may be out of the "norm". The room was set up mostly to what we had asked besides the fact that they did not put our wedding favors at every seat so some people did not receive one. When they packed all of our items up after, everything was mostly thrown into boxes. I had lights that were tangled together and items that were chipped and broken because they were not handled correctly. The food was very delicious but I was not satisfied over with the service we were provided. They are not very professional and they do not seem to be working for you or want to help make the day special for you.

Nicole was amazing and so easy to work with! She was always on top of it and communication with her was really quick! Her staff did a great job and we were very pleased.

We recently had our wedding reception at Hawthorn Suites and are so happy we chose this place! We received so many compliments from our guests on the room setup and delicious food! From our perspective, the Hawthorn staff was easy to work with, accommodating, and was very helpful with working in all the small details. We couldn't have done it without their expertise! There were two minor details that I noticed could have been slightly better, but no one else noticed but me. They did not have all the champagne flutes filled before the toasts (so there was a short delay), and the late-night snack was placed in the far corner opposite of where I thought it would be (so our guests were not aware it was available). However, our two most important things - room setup and food - were executed above our expectations! We were completely satisfied with our wedding reception and would recommend Hawthorn Suites to any bride and groom! We also had a block of rooms reserved for guests and we received great feedback on the size/quality of the rooms and hot continental breakfast! Thank you, Nicole and Vickie, for making our special day so wonderful!
