Irina Sigal Dressmaker

She did one of the most intricate French bustles on my wedding dress and it was absolutely exquisite. A knowledgeable, professional and extremely talented seamstress.

Irina helped turn my mom's '80s ballgown wedding dress with major puffy sleeves into a gorgeous a-line dress for me. She let out the bodice, removed the puffy sleeves and added straight sleeves, and removed several layers of tool to make the skirt less puffy. After my second appointment I didn't speak up about how i couldn't move my arms above my head and took the dress home. However, 2 months before my wedding I called Irina back to make another appointment, spoke to her about my concerns, and she fixed them for me. I absolutely loved the way the dress came out and I felt absolutely gorgeous. As a side note, I did read some of the lower star reviews about Irina and have to say, yes, I did feel rushed in the appointments. However, she never kicked me out when I ran over the appointment time. She helped make me comfortable with what we were doing. Part of the reason I went to Irina is for her honesty and expertise with reconstructing older dresses. I got what I wanted and am thrilled. My mom also had her dress for my wedding altered by Irina and it came out wonderful as well.

I hate to leave a bad review (similar to others who have left very similar, poor reviews for Irina), but I want other brides to avoid having the experience I had. I came to Irina’s shop after seeing its high reviews, and had a very poor experience. The staff does not come off as professional, personable, or knowledgeable. During all of my appointments, I was extremely rushed and there was little to no excitement around altering my dress. After my first round of alternations, my dress was still extremely loose on me in MULTIPLE areas. I expressed this to Irina numerous times and she responded that she couldn’t do anything about it. On top of this, there were straps on my dress that her team had forgotten to put on, then put on backwards, which then fell off as soon as I got home due to poor / careless stitching. They also forgot to attach my train. I truly don’t think they were listening to me and both of my appointments were rushed and a waste of time. Luckily, even though I had already paid Irina, I ended up being able to go to another alterations specialist who was able to do EVERYTHING I asked for initially and fit my dress perfectly. When I arrived at this place, they informed me that Irina had made my dress too short, which resulted in me having to change the shoes I was planning to wear. I wish I hadn’t wasted my time or money with Irina and strongly encourage brides to look elsewhere if you want customized service and attention!

I really hate to leave a negative review, but I did not have a good experience here and I would hate for others to be stuck in the same position. Appointments were very rushed and the tailor was not particularly kind to me, nor to her employees. I wouldn’t have been bothered by this if the work was good, but in the end I had to go to another tailor (after paying Irina) to have the dress fixed. My dress was not complicated - crepe, sheath, no lace or detailing - but when I asked for further changes at my second appointment (it was wrinkling around my waist and I wanted the shoulder straps tightened), she refused to make them/told me it wasn’t possible. The second tailor I visited was able to (last minute) make the changes I was looking for and also fix mistakes that were made by Irina that left the dress uneven. I believe this is all simply due to the fact that they are unfortunately over-booked at this shop - obviously, she is capable of doing great work, but I worry not everyone is able to receive the best when they are over-booked.

I had a wonderful experience with Irina and her wonderful team Dua and Eden. At my first appointment Dua (her assistant) was incredibly helpful and kind. Irina herself did an amazing job hemming my gown, adding cap sleeves, bringing the neckline down, and adding a bustle. When I picked up my dress her assistant Eden was incredibly helpful getting me in the dress and showing my MOH how to bustle it. I can't wait to wear my dress on my big day!

I had my wedding dress altered here based on a recommendation from my bridal salon and great reviews on google but I had hoped for a better experience. I was scheduled for only one fitting, three months ahead of my wedding then was given an appointment to try it on an take home a month later (two months before my wedding). Everything seemed extremely rushed at both appointments. My bustle completely broke during my reception entrance doing a simple dip move so I had to do the first dance with my train down, which really limited a lot of the moves we had planned. Luckily my bridal attendant was able to sew new loops and reinforce it with safety pins during dinner but she noticed that the original broken bustle loops were extremely weak based on the weight of the train. For the price I just expected a better experience in the shop and absolutely would not expect the bustle to break so easily.

Irina was absolutely fantastic. Hemmed my wedding dress, shortened the straps, created a bustle. She also reconstructed a jumpsuit to fit me, which I wore for our rehearsal dinner. Everything came out perfectly. Everyone was very clear and informative, extremely pleasant to work with. Thank you!!!

Irina and team were great! They fitted my dress perfectly and helped me find the correct undergarments. Would definitely recommend and will use them in the future.

Irina was amazing! She did a fantastic job altering my dress I had bought at BHLDN. I also had my mom's dress and had no clue what to do with it. She took lace from my mom's dress and put it on a beautiful veil for me, which is now a family heirloom!

Irina did an amazing job of tailoring my wedding dress. She trimmed, bustled, and hemmed it beautifully. The only thing I struggled with on my dress is that it was a bit big in the torso and she was resistant to taking it in more on top without it costing significantly more. That said, I'd still very much recommend her, just know what you want and be willing to voice that.

Irina was a pleasure to work with! She was very accommodating to any requests I had. I absolutely loved how my dress turned out. I was nervous about finding a tailor who would be able to fit me in, due to the high volume because of Covid, but she did with no problem. Highly recommend. The best of the best! Irina and her team are amazing and very efficient. She is upfront with the cost of alterations at your first appointment, which I appreciated. Her pricing was very reasonable. She did beautiful work altering my dress and the bustle; the bustle was very easy to figure out and she teaches you everything. I highly recommend!

Irina took care of my dress (MOB), my daughter's (Bride) and my other daughter's (MOH). She was so accommodating and did a beautiful job!

I would 100% recommend Irina and her team. I had my wedding dress tailored here and she was the only one willing to do it within one month. She did an exceptional job and it fit perfectly. She took the time to explain what she had done including the bustles she made on the back of the dress and had my sister practice putting them up and down. It was a bit on the expensive side, but I assume most wedding dress alterations are this way and it was very worth it to come here and spend my money on such high quality work and excellent customer service.

Irina Sigal is a true professional. I brought my wedding dress to her as she was recommended by the bridal salon I purchased from (Lovely Bride). I brought my dress to her well in advance (Feb for a June wedding). She advised what she was going to do the day of my first appointment, and had my dress ready within 2 months. Then, when I still wasn't feeling comfortable in my dress, and accidentally ripped it when trying on at home, she saw me the same day that I inquired, fixed the rip, free of charge, and talked to me about different bras to wear with the dress to feel more secure. I always trusted her when my dress was in her shop. As mentioned in a few other reviews, her shop is cash and check only, so plan accordingly.

Irina and her team are knowledgeable and professional. I bought my dress from a consignment shop a size too small. It needed to be let out on my hips, the bust needed to be taken in, and straps/cups were added. I believe the lace increased the price of letting it out. It fit me well! One part of the dress near my bust sagged a bit and it’s because of the fabric and my back being uneven (scoliosis). I was a little disappointed and was told it wouldn’t show up in photos but I saw it in every photo. But there was nothing more that could be done. You can trust your dress to Irina. She will work with your wedding timeline and takes care of your dress! It just comes at a price. My dress was $1,200 and I paid over $800 for alterations (roughly 70% of my dress price). You get what you pay for, quality work. She’s an expert and you can trust your dress with her.

Irina did a good job on my gown alterations with a quick turn around. The price was reasonable, and I was pleased with her work. I appreciated that she stayed on time with her fitting appointments. This business takes cash or check only, so plan accordingly.

Irina came to us highly recommended however, over the pandemic I was completely disheartened with her services. My wedding was postponed. In April while Philadelphia was on Shutdown, I was asked to come in for a fitting. I did not feel safe to do so. I was told that I must pick up my dress and pay for the rest of services that were not rendered. I was told "I will throw your dress on the street if you do not pick it up". I was left in tears, not only was I not sure my wedding would occur, now I am getting threats that my beautiful dress will be thrown on the street. My dress was not complete, in fact it was too tight. It had been taken in along the bra line when I asked for it not to be taken in. I had to take it to another tailor, because I lost trust in Irina. The dress had to be let out. The amount of money I paid for alterations ended up being more than the dress. I will never forget how Irina talked to me and how sad I was about loosing my dream wedding and almost loosing my dream dress.

Irina, is my Seamstress Fairy Godmother!!!! I have two wedding dresses one fit to my style and the other one was my mommy's request. The dress I bought for my mom needed to be redesigned to mesh her and my style together. I had called 5 other seamstresses from South Jersey to Philly about redesigning the dress and none of them were confident enough to take a pair of scissors to the dress. I was starting to get so nervous because I knew I wasn't in love with the dress as it was. But, then I met Irina! Without hesitation when I told her what I wanted done to the dress she said she could do it. Even when I was explaining to her what I wanted to do she said to me I know exactly what you want! Which made me feel at ease and boy did she deliver!!!! When she finally redesigned and re-laced the dress it looked absolutely gorgeous!!! My mom was beyond happy with the way the dress looked... And to put the icing on the cake, she made a veil that went absolutely perfect with the dress!! But, what made me love Irina even more, is when my wedding date got postponed from April 2020 (because of Covid-19) to next summer 2021 (fingers crossed) she told me she would be there for me to adjust anything the dress needed when it was time for the wedding!!! It's already nerve wrecking when planning a wedding so to have a Seamstress Fairy Godmother who will make sure you look stunning on your wedding day, who deeply cares about her brides and is a master of her craft is what every bride needs!!! I also have to mention her team, her assistant and her secretary are such beautiful souls!! They are so patient with you as a bride during the whole appointment and they make you feel gorgeous!!! I would highly recommend any bride to come here and I will probably be using them again for anything I may need in the future!! Thank you Irina and your whole team!!! <3 P.S. When I get married and actually get to wear the dress haha... I will be posting pictures! ;o)

Irina did an amazing job with my dress! It fits me perfectly now. She altered the train and created a bustle and its exactly what I hoped for. I only needed two fittings and it was done so quickly. Couldn’t ask for better alterations and service!

I wanted to add custom sleeves to my wedding dress, and Irina worked some serious magic. You couldn't even tell that the dress did not originally have sleeves. Irina is an expert in dress alterations and construction, my dress fit me perfectly and I got SO many compliments on it the entire wedding night. My dress was exactly what I envisioned for my wedding day and I can't thank Irina enough. She is simply the best of the best for wedding dress alterations in Philadelphia.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a vendor. Irina agreed to alter my dress but charged me for a "full redo" not just taking it in a bit because my dress was so big on me. However she got the top wrong (I am very tall and the torso was too short) so I couldn't raise my hands without the top slipping down! When I pointed this out she told me I was being ridiculous and too picky. Eventually she just gave me a partial refund and told me to get out. So at least she gave me the refund.... but it was not what you'd call pleasant. And then I had to go elsewhere to get her work fixed!

I was so nervous about altering my grandmothers gown. I heard amazing things about Irina, but the transformation to my dress was beyond anything I expected. Irina did an INCREDIBLE job with my wedding dress. I purchased my dress from Kleinfeld’s when they were having a big sale. My dress was a size 8 and I needed it to be a 2. My dress was long sleeve with lace and embroidery. Irina made the dress look like it was made for me! She even made my sleeves longer as I am tall and have long limbs. When I told her I wanted my dress taken in slightly more around my thighs she told me to go home and think about it as she didn’t want me to make an impulsive decision. The next day I called her and told her my mind was made and she squeezed me in at 5 o’clock as she was closing! She was very professional and understood exactly what I wanted. She also added a beautiful French bustle to the back of my dress. I wish I could post pictures. Thank you again and again Irina.

Irina Sigal is the best in the business! I purchased my wedding gown from Lovely Bride, but unfortunately, it came back about 3 sizes too large for me. The first time I came into her studio, I knew I was the lucky one in finding her. Irina reassured me that my dress was in wonderful hands, and thoroughly explained her plan and the cost. She would need 3 separate fittings, re-working the dress completely. That's the greatest part...she's got that hard business professional edge, with the calming demeanor of a loving aunt you've known your whole life! Before every appointment, I would receive a phone call reminding me what I would need to bring in for that appointment, the time, the price, etc. She even told me the exact strapless bra I would need and where to get it. Her and her staff leave nothing to chance. Each time my smile grew greater knowing that my dress was going to fit me like a glove. And boy did it! One the day of my wedding the compliments were unlimited! It was clear to everyone the attention and love Irina put into my dress. At a time that can feel overwhelmingly chaotic, it was reassuring to know I had her team by my side. I just can't thank them enough! Go there, you won't be disappointed!

Irina is extremely professional and knows exactly what to do. I got my dress from sample rack, so it needed to be altered from a size 10 to a size 0 or 2. Somehow she made it happen! I went in for two appointments, and she took care of everything. The dress was comfortable for the day of and the bustle was easy to put up. I highly recommend working with her.

Unfortunately, I did not have a positive experience with Irina whatsoever, and actually had to use another seamstress to fix my dress after getting it back from her. I used her at the recommendation of the bridal salon from which I purchased my dress. Throughout the process, I felt rushed and on edge every time I was in Irina's salon. She repeatedly told me certain things were impossible, e.g. "No I can't take it in there" or "You'll just have to stand straight the whole time, this dress is not going to move well," and honestly seemed to want to do the minimum. She just kept blaming the dress. Multiple times she told me that it was done, then I would point out something and she'd say "okay I'll fix that"... She was trying to get me out of there with a less-than-perfect result until I spoke up! I started my alterations with plenty of time, so there was no rush factor involved. She is quite intimidating and dismissive, so when my final appointment came I knew that I did not trust her to do anything else to my dress, despite it still not being right. I took it to another seamstress who corrected all the problems, did the things that Irina claimed "impossible" and did all this in 1/4 the time and for 1/3 the price. I wish I never even went to Irina.

Irina altered my wedding dress and it ended up to be more perfect than I had even imagined it to be when I bought it! The dress was actually a top and a skirt from two different designers that she altered together to become one dress. When she was done with it, not only did it fit like a glove, but you would never guess that it had started out as two pieces! She also made a really nice bustle that was pretty much invisible and made it look like the dress was all one length during the reception. In addition to doing incredible work, Irina and her team were easy to work with and took all of my concerns and opinions about the dress into account when deciding what to do with it. Great experience!

I was very pleased with the quality of work done on my dress. I had a heavily beaded dress and the Irina team knew just how to handle it. I would absolutely recommend them for other brides, as well as anyone who needs a dress altered.

Irina and I got to talking and had soo much fun designing this master piece I couldn't be any happier that I had found her shop.
