The First Look
Couples in and around the Philadelphia, PA area may wish to consider the Knowlton Mansion for their wedding venue. The Gothic Style mansion was built in the 1800s by architect Frank Furness and is now home to Conroy Catering. The mansion is located in the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The three-story Knowlton Mansion has been recently restored by Conroy Catering. The beautiful mansion offers many locations for wedding ceremonies and receptions.
The Ballroom. The over 4,000-square-foot ballroom hold up to 250 guests. The impressive room features soaring wooden ceilings with exposed beams. Double high windows let in the natural light.
The Pergola. The white, wooden wedding pergola is a lovely outdoor location for a wedding ceremony. Couples can walk down the landscaped lawn to the pergola surrounded by trees and trimmed hedges to exchange vows. White folding chairs can be arranged on the lawn for guests.
The Conservatory and Cocktail Terraces. This indoor ceremony site lets in the natural light through a greenhouse style and large wooden framed windows. The conservatory opens up onto the outdoor cocktail terraces.
The Gardens. The Knowlton Mansion is located on 13 acres of carefully manicured gardens. Couples may wish to choose a site on the grounds for their wedding ceremony. The gardens are also a wonderful place for photographs.
What You Should Know
Couples may wish to honor the mansion's history by serving ice cream sodas at their reception. The house was once home to the inventor of the classic drink.
Winding polished wood staircases give couples an opportunity for a grand entrance and portraits. Couples may wish to wander down to the stables to get some shots with the Knowlton Mansion's horses and make use of the barns as a backdrop. The mansion also has a wine cellar lined with stone. The romantic lighting makes the wine cellar an excellent spot for wedding portraits.
Knowlton Mansion is the home of Conroy Catering, who provides all food and beverage for the wedding, including the wedding cake. There are a variety of sit-down and station options available. The largest plated option includes a top shelf open bar and champagne toast, appetizers, butler-passed hors d'oeuvres, first course, main course, wedding cake and dessert. Conroy Catering works with couples to create a menu that suits their needs and tastes.
Event managers are on staff to help couples plan the wedding and manage the event the day of the wedding. Bridal attendants are also on staff to make sure the bride is taken care of throughout the day.
A bridal suite is on-site. Tables, chairs and linens are provided by the venue. Set-up and cleanup are included. Glassware, dishware and silverware are provided by the venue. The Knowlton Mansion can accommodate up to 250 guests. A minimum of 50 guests is required.
