Working with Lovesick was effortless and awesome. Pricing is perfect, no hassle, no hidden "per print" or "hourly" fees... just a straightforward amount with no issues attached. That being said, we think they could easily get away charging more... for what you get.
We worked with Jon and Jason for our photography. The second we met these dudes, we knew we made a great choice. They literally bent over backwards (picture Jason almost doubled over trying to take a shot) to make sure we got what we wanted. It didn't stop there though. They also worked to get what they wanted, and that's where they separate from other photographers. They have a vision and aesthetic that's edgy, new and refreshing; and they didn't seem happy until they knew the shots they took could be portfolio pieces. There was no mundane "we've done this a million times". No "routine", just us, them and a dedication to getting things done right.
I went to school for art in a school dedicated to photography and graphic design. I've worked with creatives, and worked as a creative. I've rarely seen a combination of both artistry and service combined in the way these guys combined them.. They've cultivated a team of very special folks. They blend technical knowledge, art and light-hearted fun in a way that I couldn't have imagined. The way they approached their craft renews my interest in art after leaving the field. It's inspiring to someone like me, I know that's corny; but, it's true.
They didn't just take awesome pictures though. They made the entire process almost seamless. There was no point during the day when we felt like we were being rushed or forced to go take pictures. It just felt like we were hanging out with some friends and they were snapping pictures while we were there. It's kind of amazing now that I think back on it. How the hell can two people take over 12,000 pictures and make it feel like it was just a few shots on our friends iPhones? Having worked with and among many other photographers, I can tell you that this is rare. Very, very rare.
We worked with Tom for our music. I wasn't really thinking much about this to be honest. We found Lovesick through a friend's wedding and I just thought "man, no one stopped dancing" so we booked. Tom isn't a wedding DJ. Tom is one of those dudes you see in an arena mixing sounds together with his headphones on jumping around like a maniac. We had some odd songs on our list of suggestions, and he somehow managed to keep people dancing when the "weird" ones were playing. There were about 50 people dancing to Enter Sandman at one point. When the night was done, Tom actually thanked us for letting him play Metallica. I thought that was kind of odd until I thought about it. He loves what he does so much that he thanked us for the opportunity to do something different.
I think one of the biggest indications we had at Tom's talent was the fact that Jon and Jason danced as much as our guests. These guys probably hear Tom mix every weekend, but still enjoy listening to the guy. Ever get tired of listening to an artist? We have. Most of our guests have said "that was the best DJ I've ever heard", and we agree.
Book Lovesick for your event. Not sure if they do anything other than weddings, but book them early because there is no way these guys will have empty weekends in the months and years to come. Hands down, this is the best decision we made for our day
