- Chris HillExecutive ChefChris joined Market Hall in 2018 and brought with him over 39 years of hospitality experience. As the son of an American father and a Vietnamese mother, Chris grew up in a two-cuisine household with boisterous gatherings at dinner time. From an early age he knew what he wanted to do, and after a stint in college, he hit the road with friends, perfecting his craft throughout the country. During this experience and in his upbringing, he was introduced to many different ingredients, textures and tastes. Chris has dedicated his time and efforts to cooking, sourcing out the premier ingredients and understanding the business of food. His favorite part of working at Market Hall is the history of the space and the team he gets to work with on a daily basis. Chris enjoys the variety of each event and the opportunity to play a vital role in a client’s big day.
- Shelley PalumboAccount ManagerShelley has combined both her 20 years of prior experience and her eye for design to plan and execute some of the most beautiful events in Raleigh. Coming from the catering world, she takes pride in event set up and finding the best way to make our food presentation pop and function within our space. She loves helping clients to craft their dream events using her expertise in food and design. When Shelley is not a Market Hall, she is heavily involved in the dog rescue community within Raleigh. She has rescue pups of her own and she is constantly looking for opportunities to help dogs find their forever homes in the area.

Market Hall was the most amazing venue for our wedding!! Everyone is so nice and helpful. I cannot express how easy it is to have the catering, venue, drinks, etc. be handled under the same place. They made planning an out of state wedding go so smoothly. Laurel was our event coordinator and she was amazing!! She is quick to respond to our emails and helped us sort out all of our questions. She was super proactive about things and already thought out details before we could even ask. Our wedding day went so smoothly and I could not have imagined not having our wedding reception here. The entire venue is naturally very beautiful so not many additional decorations are really needed. The bridal suite and the groom's suite were also such a great addition and our bridal party enjoyed getting ready in these spaces.

We recently celebrated our wedding at Market Hall, and it was nothing short of magical! From the moment we first visited the venue, we knew it was the perfect place to begin our forever. The setting is stunning, with historically exposed brick, market lights, and cobblestone streets. The venue is gorgeous, so minimal decor is needed, which helps with costs. Market Hall is all-inclusive and has a chef to do all the catering in-house. They also provide all the furniture, alcohol, seating, china, silverware, etc. This made wedding planning a breeze and reduced the number of vendors we had to hire. The bride and groom suites were the perfect spaces to spend the day relaxing and getting ready before our ceremony. We had plenty of space for over 9 people and an entire hair and makeup team. Market Hall provides lunch and drinks, so we never had to leave the venue once we arrived!
The staff at Market Hall went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. We especially appreciate the assistance of Aislynn, Shelly, and Laurel. Their attention to detail, professionalism, and genuine care for our needs made the planning process stress-free and enjoyable. They were always available to answer questions, offer suggestions, and accommodate any last-minute changes.
On the day of the wedding, everything was executed flawlessly. The ceremony space was beautifully arranged, and the reception hall was decorated exactly as we envisioned. The food was delicious and served with precision, and our guests couldn’t stop raving about it. Thanks to the hardworking and dedicated team at Market Hall, the event was seamless. Their meticulous planning and execution gave us the confidence to enjoy every moment of our special day.

Wow wow wow! We had an incredible experience at Market Hall from our initial tour to cleaning up our belongings on wedding night. The staff were so accommodating to all of our requests, extremely professional at every turn, and the absolute best when it came to communication! The food and drink were out of this world - our guests absolutely raved about the food by Market Hall's in-house chef! Our account manager (Laurel Miller) was SO helpful with everything - she truly went above and beyond to make sure our experience was top notch. There is not one thing I would change about this venue, the staff, or our experience. Run, don't walk, to book with Market Hall!

We are so incredibly grateful for Laurel and everyone at Market Hall. While the venue itself is obviously beautiful, the people who work at Market Hall are what makes it extraordinary. Each member of the staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, creative, and quick to solve any issue that arose. Beyond this, even a month after the wedding we are still getting compliments on the food that Market Hall provided. Market Hall made each step of our planning process incredibly seamless. The venue is worth every penny, and we will never stop recommending Market Hall and Laurel!

WOW!! We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Market Hall in May 2023, and we cannot say enough good things about them!!! The venue and the staff were absolutely incredible. From the sales director Kristen and the account manager Samantha to the bartending and catering staff- everyone was beyond amazing. We felt so special on our wedding day, because of how attentive, helpful, friendly, and kind everyone was.
Market Hall had EXCELLENT communication with us starting from the very first time we toured the venue. We really appreciated their email reminders/check-ins and communication throughout our planning process. We felt so supported! Management was always quick to return our e-mails anytime we had questions.
Obviously, the setting of Market Hall in City Market, across from Moore Square, is breathtaking- but the building, furniture provided, and details (beautiful string lighting inside as well as in the streets surrounding the venue) are gorgeous as well.
It was important to us to find a venue that had getting ready areas for both the bride AND the groom. Market Hall has 2 separate suites ON SITE, for both the bride and the groom. Not only do they provide space for getting ready- but they also provide drinks and lunch for the bridal parties before the event.
As for the food- WOW! They make the best shrimp & grits that I have ever had. We received SO many compliments from our guests who shared that Market Hall has the best wedding food they have ever had. They have unique and delicious food/appetizer offerings that aren't your "typical" basic wedding food offerings- they were all so amazing and memorable.
We have continued to receive compliments from friends and family who continue to share what a special and amazing experience they had here.

Market Hall was the perfect venue! The staff was amazing to work with from our first meeting until the wedding day. Planning was so easy and communication throughout the process was great! We got so many compliments on the space and food. Chicken and waffle cones were a crowd favorite!

Market Hall was the absolute perfect wedding venue! The staff are so kind and professional! Like so many other couples we had to reschedule our wedding twice and Market Hall made it so easy and stress free! The entire process with the Market Hall team was excellent. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous you really don't need to add any decoration at all. The bridal suite has recently been remodeled and it is a perfect place to spend time with your bridal party and have photos taken. The food was excellent, several of our guests commented that it was the best wedding food they had ever had! All of the staff the day of so friendly! The bartender was quick and attentive to our guests and made sure everyone had exactly what they needed. We had the street outside of the venue closed for our ceremony and Market Hall took care of all the permits and everything. I cannot say enough good things about Market Hall and their staff!! They made sure the day we'd been dreaming of for three years live up to our every expectation and then some!

If you’re planning to get married in downtown Raleigh, look no further than Market Hall! My husband and I immediately fell in love with this venue when we toured November 2018. The lights, all the wood details, and that staircase for a brides grand entrance were major highlights. Within the next couple weeks we had Park View booked for March 21, 2020. Little did we know we were going to have to postpone on March 16, 2020 due to COVID. Kristen helped to keep me calm and focused during a time of so much unknown. We went through the postponement process twice together. Both times Kristen showed so much compassion, while keeping organized and focused on making sure we would have the best day ever when we finally got to celebrate.
March 21, 2021 was the most beautiful day. The venue made for the perfect gathering place of family and friends. So much love filled the room. The food and drinks were delicious. The venue was stunning! Measures were in place to ensure the safety and continued good health of all in attendance. Kristen and Katie were working beautifully behind the scenes to help ensure we had the best wedding day.
Throughout the entire planning process, both postponements, and the wedding day, the team at Market Hall was amazing to work with! I couldn’t be more grateful! I highly recommend booking your wedding at Market Hall.

We booked Market Hall a while before the wedding and when we booked they were going through a leadership transition but they handled it very well. There was plenty of opportunity for new owners and new rules to disregard our previous agreements but they went over and above to accommodate what we had already been promised and then some. Great bridal showcases and open houses although we won a free uplighting at one of the showcases that they ended up forgetting to put in place the day of the wedding. Shoutout to Jayne for being accommodating and awesome. Food was excellent, literally the best chicken ever (so says my husband and many of the guests although I'm a vegetarian - which they were also did extremely well with the vegetarian curry option). Updated amenities like great bathrooms and awesome bridal suite looked great, fresh paint on the ceilings and interior and extremely great location for a downtown wedding.

We held our daughter’s wedding and reception at Market Hall Park View and it was wonderful! Jessica and her team together with Bethany from Harmony Weddings ran the event flawlessly. We had so many compliments about the venue, the food, and the service from all our guests. We couldn’t have asked for anything more and would definitely recommend this venue.

Market Hall was the most perfect venue for our wedding!! We had about 175 people attend and we used the Market View side. The space fit everyone perfectly without feeling cramped like other downtown venues can feel. The bridal suite upstairs was recently re-done and it is beautiful. The perfect spot to take some pictures and lounge around before the ceremony. Market Hall gave us something we really wanted but had a hard time finding: an outside ceremony in downtown Raleigh. We had our ceremony on the street right out front with city views all around. It was incredible. Since we had the street for the night, our guests were able to be inside and outside during the reception which was very nice as well.
Jayne and all of the staff there were so incredibly helpful through the planning process. They accommodated all of our requests, responded quickly when needed and truly helped to make our wedding day the best day ever.
If you're looking for a venue where you can really create your own vision, this is the space! I wish we could do it all again!

We recently hosted a wedding for our daughter at Market Hall. We had almost 200 guests and had the ceremony there as well as a fully hosted cocktail hour, open bar for the evening and sit down dinner. To say that Jayne , her staff and all of Market Hall/Market View did a fantastic job would be a HUGE understatement. All the planning, taste-testings, arrangements and coordination with our wedding planner (Bethany Degro of Harmony Weddings - who was beyond amazing) went off without a hitch. All of the feedback from our guests was that the wedding was fantastic and the food was wonderful. (As a host, one never gets to eat anyway—you are just too busy and hyped-up). The comments we heard from our friends were not solicited – but they wanted to tell us how fantastic the whole affair was.
My wife and I have had the experience of running a number of large social affairs. All of them were hugely successful, but Market Hall has set a new, higher bar. This venue is awesome – and will be even more so when the Moore Square renovation is completed soon.
We used both sides of the venue- the south side for the wedding ceremony, the north side for the cocktail hour. During the cocktail hour the dining venue was set and we then proceeded back through the sliding doors to the evening’s festivities. The passed hors d’oeuvres at cocktail hour were well presented and delicious. The transition back to the dining area was flawless as was the rest of the evening. Many folks complimented the quality and presentation of dinner. The atmosphere and architecture of the venue was exactly what my daughter and (now) son-in-law had dreamed of.
So, thank you so much Jayne, Bethany and Market Hall for making what is usually a stressful time (particularly during planning) into a hugely successful, wonderful, stress free life’s event. Fortunately (or unfortunately), I don’t have another daughter for whom to host a wedding celebration- If I did it would be at Market Hall /Market View if, as the father, I might be allowed to have a vote.
More than just a great review, I would like for anyone who might read this that the folks at Market Hall are great in every aspect- be it planning, coordination, production, party, etc.

Market Hall was the perfect venue for our wedding. We initially booked it under different management, but the current manager Jessica was so helpful in making sure our day was perfect! They worked with all of our vendors flawlessly. My family loved the bridal suite and it was so convenient for the bridal party to use throughout the night!
If you are looking for a historic downtown venue that will give you incredible photos, has a professional and caring staff, you should visit Market Hall!

We used the Market View side of Market Hall and it was simply AMAZING! Jayne was so helpful with getting everything arranged. I suggest using their on-site caterer because the food was out of this world! Most of our guests said it was the best food they've had at a wedding so far, and thankfully we were able to sit down to enjoy the food as well. The Bridal Suite was the perfect space for me and my girls to get ready. We loved being able to watch the guests come in before the ceremony. Everything turned out better than I could have imagined!

Park View at Market Hall was everything my hubby and I could have dreamed for. The team there, specifically Jessica, was phenomenal. Through the process of wedding planning new management took over and it was seamless. The new management is organized, detailed and helpful. The team worked flawlessly with our vendors and really made our vision a reality. We had a wedding with 150 guests and it was just gorgeous as we love the modern, industrial feel of the venue. ALSO, the food is outstanding. Multiple people told us it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had and we completely agree. The chef makes everything from scratch and the food was literally finger licking good.

The wedding was one for the ages. Jessica and Molly did a great job facilitating this. As the father of the Bride, I am not from the Raleigh area, so relying on Jessica was key.
She certainly has all our trust and best interest in mind ! Great Job !.
The "Flipping" of the room worked great as we had a lot of out of town guests that did not need to leave the building to go to the reception. The reception area during the flipping was a great way for friends and family to catch up. (And meet new family !). The upstairs Bridal sweet was perfect for my daughter and her Bridesmaids.
Food and drinks were best in class. Thank you for a job well done !

We knew Market Hall was going to be our dream venue going into our wedding, but it ended up exceeding our expectations. The functionality, the communication between us and Jayne who was our venue manager (she's unbelievably amazing), it was just perfect. The pictures on the websites don't even do it justice, I wish I could add a million of my own pictures - it ended up being a true DREAM and we had no limitations. All of the vendors know the venue well, it was easy to find, I can't say enough good things about it. It was truly the best day of our lives that wouldn't have happened without the perfect venue!

I wish I could give this venue another half-star! We fell in love with Market Hall. It's an historic space with good bones that can flex to make your day almost ANYTHING you want it to be. One downside for some people will be that the venue doesn't have a kitchen, so you need to get a caterer who can deal with that.
The venue was the second thing we locked in for our wedding (the first was the DJ - Ryan Pflumm with SPIN in Raleigh). As a result, we locked it in more than a year out from our event, and a LOT of things changed in that time frame. Two of the things I loved about the venue were no longer options when we got to our day...and we didn't know about that until 6 weeks out or so... so the half star deduction is from the extra stress that those changes created. That said, the current staff (Venue had a change of ownership and some turnover) was FABULOUS about working with us through the changes, and it was still a beautiful space that was everything we wanted it to be and more!
Bottom line: I would recommend this space to anyone looking for an affordable spot to throw a wedding or party in downtown Raleigh!

The venue itself is a great option for the downtown area, especially if you are looking to have a large guest count. The bridal suite was great to have to get ready before the ceremony and to relax for a bit before the reception started. It truly is an open slate to apply your creativity when it comes to decor. Our biggest complaints was the poor communication with the venue and ourselves before the event. They ended up changing managers twice in the months leading up to our wedding, but never told us until we called since our emails weren’t being returned. The bar prices were also changed without our approval and we were never given an explicit price of everything we owe until the month before the wedding. Good option, just make sure that you get everything specifically in writing when it comes to the bar when you first sign, as none of that information is in the venue contract.

We were pleased with the venue for the most part but not at all with the level of service we received from the venue director Jessica Meyers. She was unresponsive to questions and the questions she did answer took over a week to respond to. She clashed with the vendors and at one point during the event she was heard bad-mouthing the bride. Very unprofessional behavior and many of the guests noticed her attitude and personally brought it to the bride and grooms attention on there big day. Would definitely recommend the Hall but don’t recommend Jessica Meyers.

Great venue! We only had 75 people so there was plenty of room for the ceremony, cocktail hour with a lounge, and the reception with a huge dance floor. The staff is easy to work with, it's affordable, and one of the few places I found where you can pick your own vendors. My guests also loved that it was downtown and in walking distance of hotels and other activities.

We used Market Hall as our wedding venue. It was on a Friday in December. The trees were still beautiful fall colors! Everything just looked beautiful. The bartenders took care of our guests. Everyone was in awe of how beautiful the venue was. It was the perfect day!! Thank you everyone at Market Hall for being so accommodating and for working with us every step of the way.

Market Hall was a great, spacious reception venue for our wedding! We had roughly 170 guests and there was plenty of room for a seated dinner, cocktail area, gift table, and dance floor. The location of Market Hall was very convenient for guests to go downtown Raleigh following the reception as well.

My husband and I wanted a reception venue that had great bones, but was more of a blank slate -- something that was 'our style' while at the same time allowing us to shape the space into whatever theme/scene/idea we wanted, and we found that with Market Hall. I'll be honest and say that the string lights scattered throughout the inside of the space really won us over, too. The Market Hall team were great to work with -- Kara even made sure that we knew about a sudden opening on our preferred date the moment it became available! During the planning process, we worked mostly with Brenda -- she was very kind, had some great ideas and suggestions for the space, and was on top of the logistical needs for the day-of. The space was clean and ready to go when we arrived to set up the day of the wedding. The bathrooms are spacious and nicely redone, WiFi was free and available to all, and the staff in attendance in the day of were very helpful! Donnie was our day-of contact and was punctual, kind, and very helpful in getting decor set up in the reception space. The bar staff slung great drinks all night (thanks, guys!) and were a pleasure to work with. As we had rented Market Hall before the completion of the bridal suite upstairs, it was included in our rental and was not an extra cost for us (otherwise I may not have opted for it from the beginning). I will say though, that this bridal suite was awesome! Very well-decorated with tons of natural light -- a GREAT space for applying makeup, etc. There's plenty of room to move around without feeling crowded. I highly recommend this space for any couple wanting a space they feel they can make their own, and especially for couples with a large guest list!

We worked closely with Brenda and Blair (he is in charge of alcohol). These two were amazing to work with and helped make sure our needs were met! The venue is a gorgeous industrial space and has a bridal suite attached upstairs that is perfect for getting ready-lots of mirrors, chandeliers, and antique vanities up there!
